    Wow, wasn't expecting that twist with the Mother. Pleasant surprise to see her in the episode, though. Loved how into the game Ted and Marshall were...and loved the salute bit, as always. Poor ol' Ted as his platonish feelings...


    On the whole...decent episode. Not great, but decent.

    Okay, the episode started out pretty shitty because rehashing the Ted/Robin story is getting old. And really, Marshall? Really?

    And then it picked up once Barney ran into The Mother. That was amazing and I love her talk with Barney. So happy she set the Robin in motion. I love her so much! That was sweet. Really can't wait to see their reaction when they run into each other at the wedding. Hope Barney and The Mother (give her a name!) become friends.

    Okay, the first half was pretty lame, and I am not even a shipper. But that turned around when Barney met the Mom, wasn't expected her to be in this one and it was a pleasant surprise. It nice that she is the one who got Barney and Robin back together indirectly, and as a result met her future husband. Really loved her talk with Barney.

    While the twist with the Mother was great, I hope they don't retcon how every other character meets her. I preferred Lily's interaction in the present. So hopefully Marshall or Robin meet her outside of the inn or something.

    Man I thought episode will be just good but with Mother it was great. I liked how the Robin happened. But please stop going back to Ted/Robin it is annoying. Now we know why Ted would be head over heels in love with Mother as she is like Ted.

    Holy crap! A pretty good episode! There were plenty of funny moments and lines. Bryan Cranston is always great, although slightly underused but still... Heisenberg!


    And the Mother! Loved having her in more than just a moment at the end. Her story with Lily was great and funny, and her story with Barney was great and pivotal. This just further confirms that she should've been featured far more this season.


    Hopefully we'll get more episodes of this quality for the rest of the season.

    I'm clearly echoing the stuff below me, but I absolutely LOVED how Barney met the mother. I'm still peeved by last week's episode, since I thought we should have gotten to know her a bit more before we saw the proposal as early as we did, but this was great. She's such a sweetheart. And I can't wait to see Barney meet up with her again - I wonder if they'll recognize each other?

    This season of HIMYM is just really bad...Honestly since season 8 the show went downhill to me the jokes are REALLY LAME and not even funny...I'm not a Robin/Ted ever since they are together the show is really bad...sucks because I was a HUGE fan....glad it's the last season...

    WOW I didn't expect to see the mother but I'm really glad she was in the episode...she's amazing!!!!! I didn't like the whole Ted/Robin thing but the interaction between Barney and the mother was great....i can't wait to see her meet Marshall and Robin and of course Ted

    I kind of expected Barney having met the Mother, by having hit on her. I mean come on, the guy has hit on practically every women in New York. He's just lucky his half-sister was too young for him when she found out she existed!

    OK, this is the first episode that took me by surprise at how good it was. I thought it was going to be a decent one because it would have Bryan Cranston in, but when I saw Barney meeting the Mother, it became amazing. Haven't been this pleased with an episode since the premiere. I liked last week's too, but I think this was better, because it is kind of what I expected from season 9. A lot of MEANINGFUL time jumps and seeing the characters interact with the Mother.

    Only problem was the admittedly rehashed Ted/Robin stuff (combined with the whole triangle tbh). But it's obviously purposeful, since we already knew before this episode that Ted has still some lingering feelings for Robin.

    This episode is what I wanted from S9 episodes for the most part. The only downside was, as you said, the horrific triangle, but even with that, it still ranks way higher than any episode that aired last month. Best episode since the premiere.

    Loved the twist with the mother. I loved how she was the reason for Barney to perform 'The Robin'. I hope she carries on to get more airtime as I do enjoy her scenes. I did enjoy Bryan Cranston's return, that was a nice touch to get him back. But yeah I agree with most of you, second half was awesome, the first half was nothing special and felt like a rehash of previous episodes and seasons with Ted and Robin.

    Awesome episode absolutely loved it thought I wouldn't but really did. Barney and The Mother loving this friendship already what a great way to have Barney meet her. She gave him advice that he really needed to hear it was really sweet of her to know exactly what was going on with him.

    Great callbacks loved seeing The Robin at the beginning stages and the ending was so sweet BR are so great still feel bad for Robin though. Her mother not going to the wedding is so sad I'm glad Barney cheered her up.

    I've come to a conclusion: every scene with the Mother on is pretty awesome! She's just great. "Do you wanna keep playing or do you wanna win?" If she hadn't "won" me over before (which she had, from the start, just by buying a ticket to Farhampton), she'd won me right there. It was a good episode in my opinion, in spite of all of the Robin/Ted beatdown story, loved that the Mother was there.

    I think it was one of my favorite episodes of the season so far. The mother showing up caught me totally out of nowhere. And you know what, hate me all you want, but even if learned to accept that Robin and Ted are not meant to be and I like Barney and Robin now, I am super glad the show acknowledges the huge history there is there and doesn't act like it's not weird at all to swap friends like that. It's realistic. I loved the episode. Perfect mix of comedy and drama, which is when How I Met Your Mother is on its best!
