This my favorite season nine episode/one of my favorite episodes. I loved it so much and it was awesome!
I am glad Barney knows about Robin's infertility and I absolutely loved his reaction to it. That scene was sweet.
And I loved Loretta's reaction after Barney talked to her. Ugh at Robin's mom not showing up. But I loved the resolution and I'm glad Robin and Loretta are getting along now. That was adorable.
Rude of Marshall and Daphne to leave Clint on the side of the road.
And the proposal was also adorable! I love that she didn't even let him finish.
Very good episode. Don't think it was my favorite of the season, but definitely one of the best. Poor Robin. Loved seeing her show some vulnerability with Loretta. She does that so rarely that they stick with you. And I was actually pleased to see the infertility discussion happen while they were still just friends...makes it sweeter somehow in my opinion.
Lily's reactions to judge related trigger words were also hilarious. "Gravel, why would I say gavel?" "Gavel!" *smash glass* Loved it!
The proposal was cute but...I really need to know her better. I feel like it should have felt like a lot bigger moment, and it didn't, at least for me.
I absolutely loved every bit of this episode I was having my doubts but I really loved it.
So, so happy that Barney knows that Robin can't have kids. I'm glad that is cleared up, I loved the Loretta and Robin cleared the air between them and are now a family and Robin gets to call her mom. I hate that Robin's mother isn't going to her daughters wedding that is really just awful.
Loved Clint back and the road trip I hope this ends soon though it's kind of getting a bit old.
Great episode, I couldn't have asked for a better way for Barney finding out about Robin's infertility. But, not looking forward to next weeks episode.
First alright episode since the premiere. We actually had some nice/sweet moments (Barney finding out about Robin not able to have kids), and an actually funny running gag (Lily shattering a glass at anything related to being a judge). Didn't care for Marshall/Daphne/Clint part of the storyline cause, well, I don't like Clint that much, and then Ted was more of the same.
But just like the premiere, The Mother was by far the best part. She should've been in the whole season not just for moments.
Liked the episode, but hate it when they mess up the timeline! In episode 2 of season 9 it is explained that Ted and the Mother visited Farhampton a year after Barney and Robin's wedding. In this episode, Ted mentions that he visited the lighthouse with Cassie "two years ago"! That would make his proposal to the mother be in 2015! And from "Trilogy Time", we know that in 2015 they were already married and the Daughter was born! I know, I know, I'm picky! It just bothers me when they do stuff like that. (Another thing that bothers me is the inconsistency of Barney's age. Some episode treat him as if he were born 1976, others as 1975...)
I was so surprised with this episode. It turned out so great. Many big issues were tackled. It was funny like expected with just an added bonus of a lot of emotional scenes.
I have to agree that I'm glad that Barney found out about Robin's infertility before they got back together. Barney's reaction was a real 'sensitive Barney' act, but he still did not make a fuss which isn't what Robin would have wanted. The couple keeps making more sense.
I had no idea that they would tackle Robin's mom in this one already. It's really mysterious as the gang and even Barney doesn't know much about her.. and if there is not a turn of events where we still get to see her, I'm sure we'll hear more about her.
The Robin/Loretta moment at the end was really special, since it's not often that we get to see that side of Robin. The fact that it occurred in this setting with Barney's mum was very well done.
I did not really care for the Marshall/Daphne story, and Clint got onto my nerves within minutes. Although I'm loving Lily's reaction of shattering a glass each time something reminds her of anything Judge related. (Plus is it just me or does the 'Thank you Linus' not get old. I love it!)
I think Ted and the Mother make sense. They're cute together and the engagement was definitely charming and Ted like.
I really really LIKED the episode. I am happy that the mother appeared in an important episode and great sequence. I think many of us got a feeling that Barney already knew and writers proved us right. The reaction and his explanation are also beautifully conceived. Very well executed episode.
I absolutely almost teared out at the ending. Hell, I'm a dude, but watching Ted's love life for 8 years and finally seeing him proposing to somebody and seeing his lovelife wants it propably as much as him. Heartbreaking really. I couldn't imagine a better proposal. Good on you, Ted.
Other than that - I didn't really cared at all but it was all funny and I liked it. But - as usual - mother made it much better. Without her, episode would be "meh", with her, episode is AWESOME.
Also, about timeline. Wedding does take place in 2012 or 2013? Because I'm kinda lost now and would love an explanation on that.
"Will you.." "Yes" "You didn't even let me..." "Yes" "Marry me?" "Yes yes yes yes yes yes YES"
AWWWWWWWWWW
GOD I loved that proposle even though I suspected that he will propose to her at the lighthouse but still it was so beautiful it made my cry, I'm so glad to see Ted finally happy with the love of his life. I just wish the writers don't end the show they way I think they will. Also loved the last scene between Robin and Loretta it's nice they get along now, and LOL at the road trip song, "I don't like it", "Give it time" LOL, wish Ted was with him :)
Exactly what I came here to say. Although, Ted said "not two years later". So the proposal could be in autumn 2014 or spring 2015. If they married shortly after that, they could still have a daughter by the end of 2015. (Yes, that's me trying to force the timeline to work.)
Great episode! And it should have appeased all those that keep complaining about the absence of the Mother. I enjoyed all storylines except for Marshall's. Lilly's gag was funny and I liked the banter between Robin and Barney's mother as well as the revelation that Barney knew that she could not have kids. Ted's storyline was also good and heart warming, especially with that ending that I did not see coming. Loving this season!
On the sad fact that the mother is dead, aside from Ted's suspicious speech last season, remember the episode with the flash forward to their college reunion, when they were "eating a sandwich" and Ted said: "where is my wife?"
To me, the episode was just ok, but the end was phenomenal. It's amazing to see Ted finally really happy. I'm in love with the scene between him and the mother. Simply perfect!
I think a lot of people are confusing last year, with last season! Season 8 ended chronologically on Friday, 24th May, 2013, and that's when season 9 started!
I kinda agree about Marshall's storyline, I did get a few laughs from it, but I didn't particularly care for it. The only redeeming thing about it was I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles).
Absolutely loved it. I was loving it before we even got anywhere near The Mother - loved seeing Robin telling Barney about her infertility, and Barney sticking up to his Mum about Robin. - zitch dog and The Proclaimers - great himym car callbacks! - the return of "thank you Linus" which has to be my favourite gag of the season. - Curtis not wanting Ted to commit suicide. - Clint's songs - not-vomit-free-since-93
And then the end. They are just so adorable together, I can't get over how well she's been casted. And the proposal! Just perfect. I can't believe we've seen Ted propose to The Mother. Epic, wonderful, can't wait to get to know her better.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Loved it, best episode of the season, so far.

I think the daughter was born before they even get married, and at the time of the proposal The Mother's pregnant again.

No, the wedding takes place on May 2013.
ReplyDeleteWedding takes place in May 2013.
ReplyDeleteGah you're right. My mind is still stuck in 2012 mode for some odd reason. My bad, thanks for correcting me.
ReplyDeleteAre you sure ? Last year they say 2012...
ReplyDeleteYes, I am sure, and they never said 2012.
ReplyDelete"Will you.."
