I don't know why they're writing Meredith as such an awful person. She's a doctor, she should know that saving a patient's life takes priority over her beginning study. It makes Derek look bad for not slapping her upside her head and telling her to get over herself.
I also don't know what they're going for with Owen happy with his new girlfriend, and Cristina miserable without firends, partners or holiday plans. It just makes me dislike Owen and Meredith more.
Seriously, Can you believe the way Ross spoke to Mer?! God, Please let him mess up next episode so he can be fired, Creepy Shane is just too gross for words! And fight or not, shame on Cristina for not shutting him up, and the gross kiss! That scene too the episode from 'Meh' to Barf!!
I'm happy that Arizona was honest with Callie. I know that would have been hard for her to do, but she allowed Callie to ask questions knowing that it could potentially end her marriage.
I'm over all the interns/residents - what ever they are. I want a character back to lighten up the mood. Everybody is just so depressed. Bring Addison? Do something!
I am probably going to get a lot of hate for what i'm about to say but i've never like Mer. I love Christina, but Mer is just all about herself. I remember way back in the first and second season where she would whine to Christina about Derek over and over. For me, she is just annoying, and i hate that i feel that way about a main character but i can't help it.
Looking forward to the Callie and Arizona relationship for the rest of the season. Pray that Sara makes a deal soon! Cos i can't handle no Cristina, no Callie.
It started out bad- Cristina shouldn't have said what she did about Mer. She should have simply said that they had to rush the patient two hours ahead of schedule, that she was not there, and Bailey was- which was the truth. She need not have brought in her opinion of how Mer's choices were affecting her surgical capabilities. Not saying Mer's blameless here- The strain was already there, and now, Mer probably sees it as Cristina simply trying to block her progress because she herself failed to save the baby : Mer had one week to produce a viable part using the printer, or she loses her funding- Cristina took two of those days, and has not succeeded yet, BTW. She's putting the baby through procedures that are highly experimental, procedures that she's never done, procedures that she cannot say will succeed, and she's flushing her supposed BFF's trial down the toilet... This is waaaaaaaaay uglier than the earlier Solo-Surgery fight! Absolutely hate it!
I didn't like it. Shane and Cristina is just ridiculous. Although I can see why she would go there. She's lonely and he took up for her. Everyone's moving on and she's alone. Where are the going w/ Bailey and Richard's storylines? Is Richard just the hospital monument now. It's really sad. and they are determined to make Bailey look crazy. I agreed with what Shane said to Meredith. She is just really bitchy now. I'm sorry but she did the number 1 BFF no no. She invited the new girlfriend to her house! smh. She was ready to kill Owen in S8 and now she's best friends with him and planning dinners w/ him and his new girlfriend???? I agree Cristina should have told Meredith she needed the printer for longer but you can tell she was not up for the confrontation. She looks really tired and worn down and lonely. They really gotta turn it around before the end of 10A. 10x09 was so good but this episode just flat lined for me.
I agree mer has been such a bitch lately and I know some people think ross should not have talked to mer like that but she really needs to be told cause that was a patients life not her and her bitchy, annoying attitude and thinking everything is about her I love greys I have been watching it from the start but lately I think its gone down hill
I really think its just a feedback loop of awful between the two of them, Meredith is not entirely wrong in believing Christina should just put in an artificial valve, but things just got nasty with the ad hominem attacks.
That's what' hurts the most for me, that neither of them is completely wrong and it's mostly a matter of medical opinion, but that is clouded by their personal anymosity and misreading of the other intentions.
Meredith completely stepped out of line with the ad hominem attacks, and Cristina wasn't going to say anything. I'm actually glad Shane something, even if it was completely inappropriate. But that whole scene was inappropriateness all over the place.
I've no idea what they are filming at the moment but it wouldn't surprise me if they were on 10.11 still. 10.09 would've been complex thus longer in the schedule and the thanksgiving break gives then an additional week It's also the case that sometimes they are still editing episodes during the week it's going to air.
Shane hate has nothing to do with Cristina. He's an asshole hypocrite, that has not shown any real talent, but thinks too much of himself and ooooh hey he got Heather killed. Other than being kissass, we never saw any other side of him.
And Mer is not 100% wrong, Cristina putting this child's life in danger by being stubborn, come on, trying to print it for the 3th time, where did her brilliants went?
The printer was brought in for Mer's research. She had one week to produce a viable part with it, or she would not get the funding for her research. Cristina elbowed her out for two of the seven days she had, performing a procedure on a baby that did not work, TWICE, and wants to go in again. It would have been good if Mer agreed the first time, but the second, and now the third times? Cristina's pushing it! The procedure did not work, and she's just risking the baby's life every time she takes him in! I started out on Cristina's side- Though again, she should have stuck with Bailey on that patient, instead of letting Mer in and then dumping her and saying all that stuff she didn't need to say. But right now, Mer may be right- In her place, most people would assume Cristina's attitude to be : "Hey, Mer's not a great surgeon anyways, no great loss if she doesn't get the funding, but I know I'll make it work the third or the fifth or the twentieth time, screw her, I'm gonna be a Shark!" Of course, It's all Shonda's classic "Build'em Up, Tear'em Down" MO- Cristina showed Mer down, so now she HAS to eat humble pie- Look at all the times it's happened, right from Season 1- Mer has two episodes where she shines, with the first aneurysm and the little baby with the murmur, then she ruptures a heart. Izzie and George judge Mer and Cristina, and they are cheating together and then made to look ridiculous because they can't have great sex. Mer is so great with the Alzheimer's Trial in the beginning, she has Derek and Richard both wanting her, then she screws up the whole trial...
Oh come on,Bailey's OCD! Give. Me. A. Break. Shonda, force feeding us more shit. You expect us to believe the Nazi has turned into a shell of who she once was with OCD....not buying it and its a shame for i loved Bailey....
OMG i wanted to throw up when they kissed...just SO WRONG!!!!!
WHY ARE THEY TAKING A HAMMER TO THE CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT?!?!?!!?
Seriously, friggin 10 years worth of awesome character development, funny, likable characters and within the space of 10 single episodes they have ruined Arizona, Meredith, Christina AND Baily!
Meredith is acting like a total bitch, one who refuses to see her best friend of 10 years's point of view? Christina's ego and god complex was charming and justified before this season but now she think she can do what she likes without consequence.. Arizona and Callie should have stayed broken up for at least another 10 episodes... Callie is not the type of roll over... and Baily.. like... just WTF. Like a totally different character from her 'nazi' days.
Just... no more. Please, its like watching your beloved family pet die from a long struggle with cancer.. just end it on a high note.
Completely agree with you. It's so sad. They've really knocked Arizona and Meredith's characters this season! Bailey too, but they started that last season by trying to make her comic relief (and not in her Nazi-funny way).
If you have no storyline better than turning your well loved characters to dicks, stop making the show. I absolutely love Grey's, but what are they doing?! I can put up with the crazy/ridiculous stuff that goes on in this one hospital, but as long as characters aren't being compromised.
Shane is just an awful person, so by getting him and Cristina? Just awful.
I was asked the other day who my favourite character was of ANY show (and I watch a LOT) and it was Cristina, because she's awesome and I've never really disliked her story at all. Until now. Le sigh.
If you are going to do that, you should list all the questionable things all doctors ha done. do you hate them all that much? I think Shane isn't as big a hypocrite as you.
"Getting Heather killed" now that, that completely proves you gross bias, and truly taints any sort of opinion you might have.
We KNOW Cristina is really trying to print the valve so hard because it is the best option from her medical opinion, but only because Mer was angry with her she didn't push. "Where did her brilliants go" you are just channeling Meredith's rage addled diatribe.
It's almost impossible to discuss this with someone that believes that you either have to pick Mer or Cristina's side, and I'm sick of seeing the discussion delve on that.
Half of your reply is white-knighting Mer, and that so misses the point. If you are not trying to understand both characters, you have missed the point of their friendship for 10 seasons.
Cristina's motives for printing the valve have been SHOWN to be solely because she believes, with her professional opinion, that it's the best chance the baby has. It has already rejected one artificial one, which would by any means just be a temporary solution. The printed valve could give him a normal life.
This whole case is about risk/gain, and as such, there's not a right or wrong.
All I'm saying is that if the printer had been brought in for Cristina's use, and Mer wanted to use it to save a life, she wouldn't even find the keys to the room. Two failed surgeries on an infant- IDK. Don't they have to get clearance from the Board of ethics or something to perform experimental procedures? What board gives permission for a THIRD try after two failed ones? Another thing I observed over the three fights Mer-Cristina had- The Solo Surgery, the PTSD, and this one, it's easy to feel bad for Cristina because she withdraws and gets quiet, Mer is uncertain and uncomfortable and pointedly ignoring Cristina and all of that at the same time, it's easy to see her as the hostile aggressor and Cristina as the victim. Also, she doesn't turn away from everybody, it sometimes seems like she's ganging up on Cristina, too! These two are my favorite characters, except when they fight: It's ugly, ugly, ugly when they do!
I'd say the character assassination started with the whole Eli thing with Bailey. The BCB was the last straw! And I agree with your sentiment: If the only way they can continue with the show is to turn characters into the very worst caricatures of themselves, they should quit!
You remember the episode where Burke wins the Harper Avery? To me, that is Cristina! She was heartbreakingly lonely, devastated and without any support, no one who really understood the depth of her despair over her personal life and her absolute distress and frustration oner her professional life under Hahn... And when she's called in to fill out that HR form after having been in the morgue all day, that scene never fails to shake me. There is a dignity to her vulnerability in that scene that makes even a Cristina hater empathize with her. I have difficulty connecting that person to the one that slept with the Mayo guy she loathed, and now Shane! The Cristina today is less than the worst caricature of that older Cristina, that's a tragedy!
Also, You say it's impossible to discuss this because someone's on one side, But read over your posts, so are you! You are firmly in Cristina's side, and that's OK. I was just pointing out a different side from yours.
Loved it! Especially the scene where Shane defended Christina, even liked the kiss. I don't get why people hate Shane or the kiss. I totaly get why Christina did what she did. I'm not Mer's bigest fan so far this season, not saying I hate her but she annoys the hell out of me these days.
I'm not on Cristina's side, I just think that Meredith let her emotions get the best of her when dog piled on Cristina, but her medical opinion is indeed sound, she was in the same boat with Alex on that.
As personal insults go, both of them had said really mean things, and Cristina did start that, although it was with less malice, but way more condescending. Which was worse?
I would actually react more like Meredith, because Mer is basically reacting to how Cristina hurt her.
I actually think Cristina was more hurtful to Mer, partly, in spite, or maybe because, how condescending she was.
Cristina basically told Meredith she was okay with being a "regular surgeon", and really, just because Mer popped a baby, doesn't make her any less interested in her career.
And what hurts the most in there is that Cristina didn't saw it as a big deal; she didn't say it out of malice, but still it was utterly hurtful.
And now Meredith is just too hurt to even talk to her, and I so get that.
Technically the printer belongs to the hospital, that's why Cristina can even "wrestle" it away.
I think its pretty obvious they have nothing left to write about.. they are going to start showing us flashbacks apparently. :( :( Its horrible to see the show die and become what it is now... If the show last night was a pilot I would have switched off after 5 minutes.
To be honest, I'm only watching this show because I run an Ellen Pompeo website.. I used to watch it for the characters but they are dying to.. I don't have a valid reason to even be watching this show after the 10 episodes I have seen this season. If Shane and Christina end up a thing, imagine that as Christina's defining moment before she is written off the show? Yeah, think about that for a second.. its horrifying.
Yeah I remember that one. That is one of the only eps I enjoyed from S4 and it's b/c of Cristina. I don't know why the only time the writers can give Yang any depth is when she's w/ a man (she had great storylines w/Burke and Owen) or is recovering from having a gun to her head. Sometimes it really feels like they're giving up on certain characters and even on the show itself. I know everyone thinks the writing got bad after S5 but I actually enjoyed the writing up until last season. S9 was the beginning of the decline of the standard of the show for me personally. Just seems like Grey's is Shonda's experimental show now. They are trying any and every storyline w/o purpose at the expense of the shows quality and viewers. Grey's was the number drama every Thursday night up until this season and now it gets beat out by Scandal and hasn't seen above a 3 in the 18-49 demo since the season premiere. For this to be such a milestone season for the show it has really been a let down. As of now it's tying for the worst season w/ IMO. I thought 10x9 was a turning point but then 10x10 happened and they were right back to the crappy writing. No shade to new writers but I think Shonda needs to let her veteran writers turn this show around in the right direction. Stacy McKee is a veteran writer who has been with the show since S2. She wrote 10x9 which many people have called the best episode btwn S9 and 10. They gotta do something and quick. Shonda says she wants the show to continue on for as long as possible but w/ the way things are going, I don't see the show going past S11.
That would be absolutely terrible. This season and Mer/Cris riff would be a bit more bearable if it wasn't the last season for them. I want as much of their awesome relationship as I can get before it's over.
A visit is all we need to lift the mood. I know she has another show, id lover her to come back for good but i agree there are too many characters and storylines going on at the same time. I feel that Bailey's OCD is rushed. My inital comment, i meant a visit not a permanent stay, even though Addison was one of my favourites. Sorry if you misunderstood.
I'm resting for a few days. Also I'm not sure what to say about 10.10 yet. My last review took a lot of time and creative energy. Plus I'm waiting on your comment :)) http://www.spoilertv.com/2013/11/greys-anatomy-stacy-mckee-calzona-and.html
Oh no, I agree that pulling Mer out of the case was the right call, don't get me wrong. What I'm getting at is the reasoning that Cristina used afterwards as justification which basically felt like "it's okay to not be as good as me".
Is he the same guy? I saw like 3 episodes of that show and summarily forgot everything about it.
So far I kinda like Shane, mostly because he has very different traits than the other interns and he is very high strung and even pushy.
He feels like the less nice of them, which makes him more interesting to talk about.
Stephanie kinda falls flat most of the time cause her story is too much Jackson, the moments that are about her and medicine are great.
Leah, poor Leah, it seems like the writers just wanna make her suffer lol.
And Jo is like too nice. I like her, but she isn't as compelling standing on her own.
Shane feels like the only one more realized on his own, although Steph has great potential. But Jo and Leah are clearly defined by their relationships, and even if I do like them, they are not as compelling.
IDK- I still think Mer should not have put herself in that position- She should have been responsible enough to withdraw when she knew there was a surgeon better prepared- just like Cristina should have put her hubris aside after TWO botched attempts and admitted that this just didn't work. I think now she's in a place where she HAS to justify jeopardizing Mer's grant, because she might be feeling guilty about that as well..
I think they are filming the last half and they just started 10x12. They start filming on the next episode before they are done with the previous episode. Someone from the show said the closer they get to a hiatus the less time they have to get everything done. I remember Shonda saying she was doing the final cut of the S9 finale the day before it aired.
I don't think Cristina thought much about whether she sounded condescending or hurtful or whatever. Her tone was more along the lines of " I did what was best for my patient, Deal with it!"- It was really Mer at fault that day because, former patient or not, she should have known she wouldn't be up to a complex procedure right away, especially while she was still breastfeeding. She should have stood down, and let Bailey do it. Mer was hurt because she probably WAS having those same doubts, and having her "Person" say that to her confirmed her worst fears. Like she put in in the SP of S4, she needs Cristina in her corner, if she has to do the whole happily married thing. A person who's in your corner doesn't say what Cristina said. Cristina could have started to make it better by apologizing, but, well :) But look at the double standard here: Cristina kicked Mer out because she THOUGHT Mer did not study up for the surgery, But Bailey helped Mer do that while Mer was feeding the baby. And then she put Mer down.Forward three weeks: Cristina here, is doing a procedure that even SHE never thought of, it was Shane that suggested it. She didn't think of the procedure, she'd never done it before, she'd failed twice already, the Pediatric Fellow thinks she's already done one surgery more than she should have, and she still thinks she should try again, possibly destroying Mer's chances of getting that grant. And she feels victimized and left out... I just hope the TG party happens offscreen.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Meh... I didn't love it... I'd have to re-watch it though...

What's up with all the Shane hate? I feel like the fandom has hated every men Cristina has shown any interest in lol.
ReplyDeleteI'm okay with Cristina riding him at a gallop for a while, he is hot.
Next week Is Thanksgiving Day, maybe there´s no episode?
ReplyDeleteYou are right, I just checked. So much for episodes w/o any breaks.
ReplyDeleteBut last season, we used to get promos for episode that aired two weeks later.
Because Shane killed Heather and he's a hypocrite.
ReplyDeleteWhat are they doing to my poor Cristina?! :(
ReplyDeleteAlso, Ross and Cristina? NO! NO NO NO NO NO NO!
Shane's not hot! And he's ruins everything. First Brooks, then stealing the printer, plus kissing Steph. Erm, no. NO TO SHANE. HAhahaha. :D

ReplyDeleteHe's not as much an hypocrite as half of the other characters.

ReplyDeleteBut the bunch of people bringing in flimsy justifications for their hatred is eyeroll inducing.
Agreed. And it truly surprises me how many people here think Shane 'got Heather killed'
ReplyDeletewhat the heck does 'where did her brilliant go'? even mean?
I'm sure everyone here knows that their opinion is just that- their opinion, not the inviolate truth!

ReplyDeleteI'd say the character assassination started with the whole Eli thing with Bailey. The BCB was the last straw! And I agree with your sentiment: If the only way they can continue with the show is to turn characters into the very worst caricatures of themselves, they should quit!
ReplyDeleteYou remember the episode where Burke wins the Harper Avery?
ReplyDeleteAlso, You say it's impossible to discuss this because someone's on one side, But read over your posts, so are you! You are firmly in Cristina's side, and that's OK. I was just pointing out a different side from yours.
ReplyDeleteLoved it! Especially the scene where Shane defended Christina, even liked the kiss. I don't get why people hate Shane or the kiss. I totaly get why Christina did what she did. I'm not Mer's bigest fan so far this season, not saying I hate her but she annoys the hell out of me these days.
ReplyDeletetotally agree on this one .. killed heather please in what universe ... I wish they would stop hating shane so much
ReplyDeleteI'm not on Cristina's side, I just think that Meredith let her emotions get the best of her when dog piled on Cristina, but her medical opinion is indeed sound, she was in the same boat with Alex on that.
ReplyDeleteAs personal insults go, both of them had said really mean things, and Cristina did start that, although it was with less malice, but way more condescending. Which was worse?
I would actually react more like Meredith, because Mer is basically reacting to how Cristina hurt her.
I actually think Cristina was more hurtful to Mer, partly, in spite, or maybe because, how condescending she was.
ReplyDeleteCristina basically told Meredith she was okay with being a "regular surgeon", and really, just because Mer popped a baby, doesn't make her any less interested in her career.
I wouldn't bet on that lol
ReplyDeleteI think its pretty obvious they have nothing left to write about.. they are going to start showing us flashbacks apparently. :( :( Its horrible to see the show die and become what it is now... If the show last night was a pilot I would have switched off after 5 minutes.
ReplyDeleteTo be honest, I'm only watching this show because I run an Ellen Pompeo website..
Not to me. Maybe because I still see Smash Williams in him and I never liked Smash. Lol.
ReplyDeleteYeah I remember that one.
ReplyDeleteWaiting on your review :)
ReplyDeleteThat would be absolutely terrible. This season and Mer/Cris riff would be a bit more bearable if it wasn't the last season for them. I want as much of their awesome relationship as I can get before it's over.
ReplyDeleteA visit is all we need to lift the mood.
ReplyDeleteI know she has another show, id lover her to come back for good but i agree there are too many characters and storylines going on at the same time. I feel that Bailey's OCD is rushed.
My inital comment, i meant a visit not a permanent stay, even though
Addison was one of my favourites. Sorry if you misunderstood.
I'm resting for a few days. Also I'm not sure what to say about 10.10 yet. My last review took a lot of time and creative energy. Plus I'm waiting on your comment :))

"It makes Derek look bad for not slapping her upside her head and telling her to get over herself."
ReplyDeleteYour marriage sounds fun.
Oh no, I agree that pulling Mer out of the case was the right call, don't get me wrong. What I'm getting at is the reasoning that Cristina used afterwards as justification which basically felt like "it's okay to not be as good as me".
ReplyDeleteIs he the same guy? I saw like 3 episodes of that show and summarily forgot everything about it.
ReplyDeleteSo far I kinda like Shane, mostly because he has very different traits than the other interns and he is very high strung and even pushy.
ReplyDeleteYup. Same guy. I still can't get use to these interns. At least Steph and Jo are a little tolerable this season. I miss Mousey.
ReplyDeleteStill prefer Lexie's batch of interns to this batch.
I made that comment when I thought 10.11 was supposed to air next week. With the thanksgiving break, it's completely possible.
ReplyDeleteyeah. seems like they're behind on filming.
ReplyDeleteI think they are filming the last half and they just started 10x12. They start filming on the next episode before they are done with the previous episode. Someone from the show said the closer they get to a hiatus the less time they have to get everything done. I remember Shonda saying she was doing the final cut of the S9 finale the day before it aired.
ReplyDeleteAddison won't be back, well maybe for a visit but Kate Walsh just got another show. They don't need another character, they already have too many.
ReplyDeleteI don't think Cristina thought much about whether she sounded condescending or hurtful or whatever.
