Didn't Stephen say something like just because there's sparks between Oliver and Isabel that doesn't mean they'll end up in bed? I remember that interview somewhere.
I guess my comment on Oliver resisting seduction didn't' matter, "it just happened," lol.
Amanda Waller's introduction was a plus, also the suggestion of H.I.V.E. I'm wondering how John knew about putting periods after each letter, when he was searching for the H.I.V.E. on bing.
Ok i'm going to keep this as short as possible. (as short as i can anyway). I liked this episode. Loved Diggle, very happy for him. Liked the flashbacks of Sara and Oliver, and how she kept him alive. W/o giving him up. I love when Stephen Amell speaks different languages on the show. I envy it so much. And I am SOOO disappointed in Ollie for giving in and sleeping with that Succubus!!! Ugh!! VERY disappointed in him, I screamed WHYYYYY!!! On another note, did i just get my very first taste Olicity?? I THINK SO!!! Squee!! I thought it was so sweet. He had to explain himself, he felt guilty for doing it, and felt bad that he kinda sorta hurt her, and I liked how she said he could do better, idk if she was literally talking about herself, but either way she's right!! It's the little moments like that. That i enjoy. It might be small to the rest of you who are not Olicity fans, but for the Olicity fans, i would say we see it as a stretch. It's tiny but it's there. No matter how long it takes, i will enjoy the ride. Was that short? It was for me. lol
I absolutely loved this Diggle-centric episode! More Diggle is always a plus.
It was refreshing to see the show shift from Starling City to Russia. I hope the Arrow team gets to go to other countries in the future for missions (minus Isabel).
I groaned so loudly when Oliver slept with Isabel. Ugggghhh. Please, never again Oliver.
I squealed like a little girl when Deadshot mentioned H.I.V.E. to Diggle. DC fans should know what I'm talking about and I hope Arrow will go there. I think it would be fantastic.
"So we're not doing the what happens in Russia stays in Russia?" "We're still in Russia."
After last week's emotional triumph where so many pieces came together this week was a lot less dramatic, but not any less entertaining!
It was nice to see an episode more concentrated on Team Arrow with only a few short cuts away to Thea and Roy! It jsut made for a much tighter episode with no Laurel drama, no Brother Blood etc
Summer Glau was less wooden this week thankfully, but I loathe the fact that they too it down that road. Another new female character falls victim to Arrow-casting where it seems newly introduced female roles tend to fall into 4 categories: victims, love interests, heroeins or villains. I really would have liked it if they kept Isabel above the love interest quagmire...
I loved the action scenes as usual. The flashbacks moved the back story plot along nicely showing us how wounded Slade was and how Sara survived with Ivo. She made herself useful!
It was also nice to see the Russia Bratva connection come up again with Anatoli Knyazev showing up in the present as well as the flashbacks. Mmmm dragon vodka. Me want!
The most interesting aspect of the night was the return of Deadshot! Not only did he manage to include himself in the escape plan, but he got out relatively unharmed! On top of that he also provided Digg with a much needed clue about why his brother was killed. As I suspected (I'd guess most people) Diggle's brother was in fact the target and Deadshot was hired by H.I.V.E.
I wonder if H.I.V.E. (or The HIVE?) is a DC Comics thing or new for the TV series? Maybe Isabel is connected? I get that "queen bee" feeling from her at times.
excellent ep that forwarded the plots nicely and gave Diggle a chance to shine. Still not sure why he didn't tell Oliver that ARGUS is fully aware of their activities - but I assume that will come out and to a head before long. As for Oliver and Isabel, I do think that smoothing things out would be good in the long run as with his Arrow activities, he needs a managing partner to run an international conglomerate much like what Bruce Wayne did with Lucius Fox - it really didn't seem believable that he's been able to run it as well as he has so far, but it looks as if Isabel was covering for him already but just reluctantly. Interesting developments with the island/freighter plot and Deadshot introducing H.I.V.E. into the mix...and a further mention of the particle accelerator again, as the intro of the Flash will be coming soon enough
if I recall correctly, H.I.V.E. was an shadowy organization of villains/supervillains in the DCU. the main Arrow tie in that I can think of was that Deathstroke aka Slade Wilson was part of it but I just remember Deathstroke being a main antagonist of the Teen Titans
I wanted to ask any of the Russian commenters (or commenters that speak Russian) what Oliver said to the guy selling them the prison truck and also if Oliver and Isabel's accents are passable or laughable! XD
Thought the episode was great. Fast paced and tight. The whole hour flew by and there were lots of good character development and plots twists. Nice balance of action and character this time, something I think sometimes goes missing in a few episodes. I like the development for Diggle with Lyla. They good together and I was surprisingly pulled in by Shado and Slade too. Oliver and Felicity were surprisingly poignant. I always like them together as a duo but this episode really slipped that "they could totally be a romantic pairing" in there. I'm just rooting for them to overcome it all and wind up together even more now.
Awesome episode! Diggle going undercover then having to work with Dead Shot was damn entertaining! More Diggle is always welcome, plus a Diggle-centric storyline is always great. I'm also enjoying that we're seeing more Oliver fighting not as the Hood.
Don't care much one way or the other on Oliver sleeping with (insert Summer Glau's character's name here), but I do like Oliver/Felicity so that wasn't great. Oh well. No Laurel, so that was a plus.
And I feel like we've seen less of Slade this season even though he's a series regular now. Hopefully we'll get more Slade and Shadow in the flashbacks now that Oliver made contact with them.
May he said it before they filmed this episode? He gave an interview right around the time of this episode and basically mimicked what Oliver said and did on screen.
I am in awe of how many balls this show can juggle at one time.
Great Diggle episode, and nice to get some backstory on him.
The boat flashbacks are painful to watch, but I'm glad Sara is still around. So is Officer Lance, now reluctantly becoming part of Team Arrow.
I am very impressed at David Nykl. If I hadn't read the credits, I wouldn't have known that Anatoli is the former Zelenka of Stargate: Atlantis.
I still don't care much about Isabel (I think she's rather a pain truth to tell) but I understand how Oliver ended up in bed with her. More to the point, Felicity's disappointment sets up her flirtation with Barry Allen, and Felicity does need to move on from her one-sided crush on Oliver. (Hopefully Oliver will be the one disappointed then.)
Good for Moira. She's a more likable character this season, now that she's showing some mroal backbone.
I knew he looked familiar, but I never would have thought of Zelenka! XD
Oliver sleeping with Isabel served more than just hormones too! Isabel seems like a woman who is used to getting what she wants, if Oliver had not slept with her she could have been either offended or more determined to get him and taken an even keener interest in Oliver's extracurricular activities!
Exactly! I was thinking tonight, since Oliver was still locked up, how long we were going to be spending aboard the ship like that. The end of the episode gave me my answer though.
Not saying the flashbackstory is bad, I very much enjoy it, just was hoping for a bit more Oliver/Slade/Shado interaction to this point. I will say, I'm proud of the show having 2 compelling stories going on with the present day and the flashbacks to the island.
I would really like to see Oliver & Felicity swap places in the angst department, I as much as i want them to happen I don't want them to pull the rigger on them too soon. I REALLY hope that we see a bit of jealousy from Oliver when the nerd boy love interest comes into play for Felicity, for once I wouldn't roll my eyes at a little bit of CW love geometry lol. I kinf of like that she is upset at him, as much as I love her flustered rambles I adored it when she was the one with the upper hand for a change. Normally she's saying something hilariously inappropriate to him in the most serious situations & he just kind if harumph's it off but this time he was very much the the flustered one when they were in the jeep. It was adorable & I loved that she had the upperhand. Also whenever Olicity does happen, it definitely needs to be HIM going after her & her trying to keep him at arm's length, anything else I feel would be a diservice to Felicity's strength. They have done an awesome job of making her a strong character but also the comic relief without it damaging the character.
As for the Laurel & Sara parts of the show, BLECK! Both the actresses suck & have had too much work done on thier faces. Cassidy looked fine when she was Ruby on Spernatural but now she looks like an old piece of leather that has had cheek & chin implants, her face was way more round & cheekbones were not so severe. She should have spent the money on an acting coach instead. The chick that plays Sara is just as bad in the acting department & needs to lay off the colligen
Loved the episode. Like always ARROW is amazing every week...But is it only me who LOVES Laurel I just love her I find her a very good actress very pretty. I really want Oli and Laurel...
I liked this episode, didn't SUmmer would be sticking around so long and definitely didn't think they would sleep together but whoa. The action was good Diggle and Deadshot working together was a mindblowing knowing how much he hates him. And Felicity is still awesome, nothing changed that this episode
I'm a native Russian (lived there for 17 years) - I have absolutely no freaking idea what Stephen tried to say there. The only bit I understood was 'Something something something... they will track you down (which is one word in Russian -) and... something something something*
And btw, whenever Stephen speaks 'Russian' it's pretty much always like that, he tries to be more fluent and pronounces the words faster which pretty much turns his speeches into nonsense.
Summer Glau's pronunciation was way more clear though, kudos to her. And Knyazev's wasn't too bad.
Honestly, I wanted to see more of the Thea and Roy subplot...most likely because it somehow hold my interest more than the other two. With the flashback, I was pretty sure how it would end, and the whole Russia thing was just disappointing. They keep teasing but don't tell anything. But I guess, I also don't think that Diggle is that interesting that I want whole episodes about him. The whole Oliver Isabell scenes where just awkward. I now made up my mind: I don't like her character, she is a waste of airtime.
I'm personally looking forward to see Deadshot again now. I think he's still going to be evil, and he might become an ally for a while but he'll never be someone they can trust. As for H.I.V.E, if they are sticking to the plan they teased back in June, this organization will be a threat to Oliver too, so here's hoping Diggle doesn't keep this to himself for long.
Felicity had feelings for Oliver from the start. She is a woman and she doesn't seem to have much social life outside of her job so what do you expect?
We know Oliver did save the Russian guy at the end. I wonder if we'll now see the five of them working together on the island (Ollie, Slade, Shado, the Russian guy, and Sara.) That would spice things up and make the flashbacks more interesting.
All I can say is, poor Slade. I ship Diggle and Lyla and I hope she doesn't betray him. Oliver, the mistake you did in Russia should stay in Russia. Fool me once, fool me twice.. Don't do this again, do you hear me? ;)
She used to have an own agenda, though. It was about helping Walter, not about helping Oliver in the beginning. It is time to emphasise her desire to help over the desire to help specifically Oliver.
Who says that Felicity has a crush on Oliver? Just because she thinks that he is attractive, it doesn't mean that she necessarily wants to be his girlfriend. Honestly, everything relating to Isabell is puzzling me. I don't feel her character at all.
Not my episode...the only thing it brought across is that 1. I don't care about Diggle at all. The character worked great in season one, when Oliver needed someone with some understanding how it is living in a warzone. But I just realized that I never really cared about Diggle as a character on its own. The episodes about him always made me check out mentally. 2. Isabell doesn't work for me. I don't get her character, I don't think there is any chemistry (sexual or otherwise) between her and any of the other characters, and I think the acting is very stiff. 3. Laurel is so insignificant that I didn't even notice that she was missing from the ep until someone pointed it out. 4. I want to know what happened to Sin. 5. I want more Roy. Especially more interaction between Oliver (in both identities) and Roy. And I would have liked to see how the break-up affected him, because, well, Thea is the only person in his life who honestly cares about him, so I think he would take it even harder than her.
God, thank you. I'm not an Olicity fan, but I don't understand all the Olicity hate either. Felicity is awesome, and Oliver is a great man, why couldn't she have feelings for him? I'm not saying that's the case, but it could be, and she still would be awesome.
Totally. Just because she obviously likes him does not mean she can't be independent. That is one of the problems with "strong women" on tv today. We complain we are not well represented, so as a response, we are given the same representation of "strong women" with no emotional attachment or conection to reality that fan boys have idealized of women. For shows to be real they have to have all sorts of representations of women. Thankfully Arrow has done that through Felicity, Moira and Thea. They are more than just sexual appeal and (what is viewed as male)power. And that is why I am glad she shows her feelings.
Pretty much all of the accents were terrible. Summer Glau's was a little better than the others. The award "The Most Horrible Russian Accent" goes to Stephen Amell. I don't know if he tries too hard or somethingt, but his russian is mostly mishmash of unrecognizable sounds.
As for dialog between him and seller of the truck. "if you do [....], my people will track [....]" that covers pretty much everything i understood. Rewinded it about 15 times.
I think the issue is less (as someone who wouldn't mind Olicity but actually like Oliver and Felicity as friends better for now) if she is in love or not but that she has no agenda of her own by now. Oliver derailed her career, but the writers treated it like one big joke. Her reputation has suffered and again, all just in good fun. It's not. Felicity the IT-Girl who helped Oliver in exchange for rescuing Walter is a far cry away from Felicity the personal assistant who builds her life around Oliver's needs.
Oooh, that would definitely make things interesting because honestly the island/ship flashbacks are my least favorite aspect on the show even though they shed light on important plot points.
Well this felt like badly shot and badly written version of Agents of Shield, just without Whedon family talent and wit.
That said it WAS still a slight improvement from the mess that was the whole fake-canary storyline, But it still had HORRIBLE flaws like:
- Oliver's growing harem. - Sexist undertones in EVERYTHING this week. - Complte Absence of the show's lead female, Laurel,
- Show's inability to write its female characters as anything but love interests or damsels.
It's hilarious though that as Agents of SHIELD keeps improving with every episode, Arrow this season seemed intent to lower the quality almost every episode.
LMAO, I've yet to see any Shield episode getting close to Arrow's level, I don't know which shows you're watching but it's definitely not the ones I watch..
Sometimes the flashbacks are interesting and sometimes they aren't. They are kinda a mixed bag. I do like their concept but sometimes they feel forced, like they think they have to have flashbacks every episode instead of sticking only to the present once in a while.
And now she has an agenda too. The writers said last season (after episode 1.16) there are more reasons for her to agreeing to help Oliver than saving Walter, and they said we'd find out more about her backstory and her motives during season 2. We're also supposed to meet her parents in the future. I for one am looking forward to a Felicity-centric episode.
If she has one, we have seen nothing of it so far. Instead Oliver derailed her career, destroyed her reputation and in both cases it was played for laughs.
That's how I feel as well, sometimes I feel they're totally unnecessary. However, I've been rather interested in flashbacks since they added the Amazo/Sara story.
This is really hard for me, I hate that she's his Executive Admin because I feel it's a demotion for someone who graduated from MIT. However, the show makes it sounds like she was basically a nobody/nothing in the company and this is an amazing promotion for her. I can accept the fact that they all need to make sacrifices for Team Arrow but given her abilities i find it hard to believe she was just an ITA.
Yeah, I'm hoping we get a Felicity centric episode in the back half of S2, similar to the Lance, Sara and Diggle centric episodes we've gotten. I think we need some back-story, especially an explanation as to how/why someone with her technical abilities/intelligence was just a lowly IT Girl that apparently people thinks slept her way to an awesome "promotion".
The point is that she doesn't have the qualifications for the job. What they did to her is like taking a mechanic and telling him to manage a restaurant instead. It might be a promotion, but would look odd on any vita and has nothing to do with his actual qualifications. And if he works in another job for too long, at one point he will not be considered an option for any position in his field at all, because he is not up to date with the newest technology. This is doubly true for someone who works in IT.
Isobel probably think Felicity slept her way up to get promotion because that's what she did herself.. personally, I agree with Felicity that this isn't a promotion, and it's not what she wanted either.
Diggle is indeed a great character. Good to see more of him! Loved whenever he'd 'cover' as The Hood.
I know I am going to get some serious downvotes for this but, am I the only person on this site who believes that not EVERY single show like Arrow or whatever needs the main male and female characters to be paired up just to appease shippers like 'Olicity'? To be honest it sometimes ruins certain aspects of shows for me
We don't know that she doesn't have the qualifications for the job. (So far all she's been asked to do is make dinner reservations for Oliver and deliver a piece of paper to Isabel. I know 10 year olds who can do that.) Given that she updated the computing system on her visit to the Arrow cave, and then completely re-did it after the earthquake damage in her own initiative, I think she can handle an EA job.
What we do know is that she is way, way overqualified for what she is currently doing. At the very least, Oliver should have discussed it with her before making her is EA.
Speaking of other fandoms, I've been watching s2 Warehouse 13, and I'm loving the episodes that Andrew Kreisburg wrote and how well he handled relationships there. I hope that if Barry Allen does get a spin-off and Kreisburg will be the EP, that he will still keep his hand in on Arrow.
I wouldn't underestimate the role a PA has when the boss is the chef of a company. It is about more than just juggling the calendar and bringing coffee. In a way, the PA is the second most powerful person in the company, since she decides who gets to see the boss and who don't, which papers are important enough for consideration and what can be delegated, aso. In a lot of way a PA is one of the managers of a firm. And that is an entirely different skill set from what is expected from an IT expert. Which means Felicity is overqualified and underqualified at the same time...overqualified because her skill set is not really needed for the job, but underqualified because she has no experience in the skill set she actually needs. In the end, it depends on how Felicity sees it...and she sees it as a demotion. This in mind, I wish she would not forgive Oliver that easily for going behind her back.
I think Tom Hiddleston is way way attractive, but I don't want to be his girlfriend. Having a crush can just be an appreciation of the other person, with the occasional fantasy we indulge in.
Although I think Oliver is less attractive to Felicity now that she knows he slept with Isabel. That's keeping your enemies a bit too close.
I agree about not feeling Isabel. Somehow it's now working, t hat she's this tough businesswoman and she wants to defeat Oliver but she's still jealous of other people he's with. Maybe if we see her turn into a villain, it will be better.
Eh...I thought she was more angry about a woman getting the "easy way" what she worked hard for...but then, Isabel is riddle from start to finish. I don't get her motivation...I thought her job was to get Queen Consolidated and then splitting it in handy parts, making money on the sell out, not rescuing the firm.
You make excellent points on the EA postilion, I never realized it could be that important, I always looked at is as another Admin job. I've very much viewed this as a demotion (much like what Felicity herself viewed it as).
I do hope it comes up again and I really hope they move past this for S3..give her something in the tech field but that allows for direct access to Oliver.
I still think that they should have made Diggle the PA...not that he is qualified either, but I totally can see him doing the job. He is way better suited for it than Felicity (for starters because he is not prone to babbling...and would come up with convincing excuses).
Compass_1 is dead on! Shield is a giant pile! I love Joss be he has definitly sold out as of late, anything he is a part of in the last few years has been a pale shadow of his awesomness!
You're not alone. I like Felicity, and I think the actors have great chemistry, but the whole thing felt a bit forced. And it's very clear when the writers are providing fanservice. I wish they didn't.
I caught a few episodes of Warehouse 13, but not enough to know the directors or writers honestly... However, I welcome all good writers and directors! XD
I read an article with Summer Glau after the show and she said she thought Stephen spoke Russian better than she did (maybe just flattery?) and that she actually spoke a little Russian before Arrow.
Guess it really didn't help much! XD
The article: http://tvline.com/2013/11/13/arrow-season-2-preview-summer-glau-isabel-oliver-felicity/
Guess so. Maybe if Isabel got more complex sentences to say in russian we'd see it differently. But their accents aside i still can't understand how they got "prochnost" = "strength". There are better words : "zhivuchest", "vinoslivost". even "sila" and thats just off the top of head. Reminds me of Fringe's 2-named astronaut.
Well, you care enough to whine about it every week :)
And everything I say I can pretty much back up with arguments, making it a critique instead of hate, if to put it in layman's terms. I am not the kind of person to blindly worship show that is going even deeper into trainwreck territory with winking lobsters, you see ;]
LMAO Yeah I'm sure your completely unbiased, hate free, logical comments totally backed up by actual facts is the reason you are the most downvoted person every single week. It's hilarious really!
A character that is shoehorned into a scene every episode and sooo relevant that nobody realized she was missing last night until it was pointed out proves just how "front and center" she is.
But carry on, I'm sure you'll get your way by bitching constantly.
Felicity is young though, she barely graduated from MIT, and her social skills could've prevented her from getting promoted in the IT department. I think she mostly enjoyed her quite before she met Walter and Oliver and wasn't searching for any promotion.
Oliver might not be part of Queens consolidated next season, and I don't know who else could he trust to take Felicity's current role. He can trust her to understand where he is and lie for him if needed but he can't trust someone who doesn't know his secret that way.
For the first time, I enjoyed SG's character. She loosened up a bit and showed much more personality than we've seen. And I must say she and Oliver had a lot of chemistry in their scene together. I liked it.
I also loved the end w/Olicity! They would be cute together, but I'm also fine w/her developing a relationship w/someone else.
I was hoping Diggle would kill Deadshot, but I guess that will happen another day!
I really like the character Felicity, but I'm not sure a Felicity-centric episode sounds like a good thing to me.
Diggle has back story that integrates in the DC universe, and connects to Oliver via Deadshot (And now maybe H.I.V.E. as well), but Felicity as far as we know does not have a tragic past or any episode that would be relevant to the DC universe or Oliver.
She is an IT tech with mad hacking skills. IT is often the field of choice for hackers, and I think her personality and casual attitude explain why she has never really been promoted.
She is flaky, overly personal and has a pattern of inappropriate behavior discussions with her business superiors (giving unrequested advice or all the flirting with Oliver etc). Do not get me wrong, I like all of those aspects about Felicity, but those same traits would keep her from fast advancement in a lot of businesses.
I think Felicity's excuses are a lot better than Oliver's were. May I remind of you the energy drink, coffee spill on "his" laptop, treasure hunt. An appointment with "Mr Harper" is more plausible to me as an excuse… Maybe that's just me though.
this is the first episode it didnt feel forced to me, it seemed genuine. I could go either way on their relationship, but if it were to happen i wouldnt want it anytime soon. I think they may try the Sara route first, shared experiences and all.
I like Felicity very much and I like Oliver very much, but I always saw them as just friends. I always thought that Felicity's fangirl comments about him are a joke. And if she likes how he looks it doesn't necessarily mean that she's in love with him. But I do think they would make a nice couple.
The episode was awesome as usual, there hasn't been a single episode this season which I haven't liked. It was probably my least favorite but that really is not saying a lot. I prefer characters more focused on Oliver, Laurel, Roy et all than Diggle, I think he works better as secondary character. But ti was actually very fine the storyline they gave him and the whole trip to Russia thing was cool. I just wish they hadn't send Sarah back so soon. And I did miss Laurel here, kill me if you may. The flashbacks were awesome on this one though, poor Oliver being betrayed like that. I also found the scenes with Isobel and Oliver fun, it's realistic that Oliver keeps himself busy and is not a priest. Good for him. I don't want to see them going further with Felicity though. I love her character but they are right where I want them to be as friends. More than that I am not sure I would be on board. Love this show
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Olicity <3
ReplyDeleteIt's embrassing what they're doing to Felicity for the sake of fan service.
ReplyDeleteDidn't Stephen say something like just because there's sparks between Oliver and Isabel that doesn't mean they'll end up in bed? I remember that interview somewhere.
ReplyDeleteI thought Felicity was a strong, independent woman.
ReplyDeleteI guess my comment on Oliver resisting seduction didn't' matter, "it just happened," lol.
ReplyDeleteAmanda Waller's introduction was a plus, also the suggestion of H.I.V.E. I'm wondering how John knew about putting periods after each letter, when he was searching for the H.I.V.E. on bing.
Because of A.R.G.U.S.?
ReplyDeleteNo, she's Oliver's personal fangirl now.
ReplyDeleteOk i'm going to keep this as short as possible. (as short as i can anyway). I liked this episode. Loved Diggle, very happy for him. Liked the flashbacks of Sara and Oliver, and how she kept him alive. W/o giving him up. I love when Stephen Amell speaks different languages on the show. I envy it so much. No matter how long it takes, i will enjoy the ride. Was that short? It was for me. lol
ReplyDeleteMaybe, I mean Lyla Michaels was going in for debriefing, so they both didn't met with A.R.G.U.S.
ReplyDeleteOh forgot to mention, possible Slade reintroduction by the H.I.V.E.?!?!
God forbid a strong independent woman to have feelings for a guy. I mean, aren't all those strong independent women supposed to have a heart of stone?
ReplyDeleteI absolutely loved this Diggle-centric episode! More Diggle is always a plus.
ReplyDeleteIt was refreshing to see the show shift from Starling City to Russia.
"So we're not doing the what happens in Russia stays in Russia?"
"We're still in Russia."
P.S. That Russian helper guy was hilarious.
She has ALWAYS been Oliver's fangirl, where have you been during season 1? And frankly, there's nothing in this episode to imply that anyway.
ReplyDeleteI choose awesome because besides the obvious, there was no laurel.
ReplyDeleteNo. I meant because ARGUS is an acronym. Yes, I hope that's what brings Slade's story into the present day.
ReplyDeleteLOL, A+ comment. I honestly didn't even notice she wasn't in this episode till you mentioned it.
ReplyDeleteServes to show how relevant she is LOL
ReplyDeleteCan't Roy tell Quetin he helping the arrow out
ReplyDeleteAfter last week's emotional triumph where so many pieces came together this week was a lot less dramatic, but not any less entertaining!
ReplyDeleteIt was nice to see an episode more concentrated on Team Arrow with only a few short cuts away to Thea and Roy!
HA!! Oh wow! I seriously didn't notice either. LMAO Maybe that's why the episode was good. LOL
ReplyDeleteHe was probably just trying to throw fans off the scent...
ReplyDeleteexcellent ep that forwarded the plots nicely and gave Diggle a chance to shine.
ReplyDeleteI don't think Diggle also did not tell Oilver about "HIVE" as well.......
ReplyDeleteif I recall correctly, H.I.V.E. was an shadowy organization of villains/supervillains in the DCU. the main Arrow tie in that I can think of was that Deathstroke aka Slade Wilson was part of it but I just remember Deathstroke being a main antagonist of the Teen Titans
ReplyDeleteHe did tell Lance, that's why Lance released him.
ReplyDeletewell she coming back next week
ReplyDeleteThanks..
ReplyDeleteI assumed it might be from the DCU since so man clandestine organizations in comics have acronyms that spell out words. XD
I really want to know what Oliver said in Russian to the person trying to double cross him
ReplyDeleteOh thanks for reminding me!
ReplyDeleteI wanted to ask any of the Russian commenters (or commenters that speak Russian) what Oliver said to the guy selling them the prison truck and also if Oliver and Isabel's accents are passable or laughable! XD
olicity feels is so painful, but I want more :) my OTP is goodness. I love all team arrow. Oliver/felicity/John.. John diggle was awesome :)
ReplyDeleteTeam Arrow: Long may they reign.
ReplyDeleteSpecifically love Felicity keeping herself together and being awesome as usual, despite Oliver being a mess here and there.
Diggle killed it like a boss as usual.
But oh my GOD the Oliver and Felicity angst is tv gold. These two. Wow. I'm in awe.
ReplyDeleteFreaking love Felicity
ReplyDeleteAwesome episode! Diggle going undercover then having to work with Dead Shot was damn entertaining! More Diggle is always welcome, plus a Diggle-centric storyline is always great. I'm also enjoying that we're seeing more Oliver fighting not as the Hood.
ReplyDeleteDon't care much one way or the other on Oliver sleeping with (insert Summer Glau's character's name here), but I do like Oliver/Felicity so that wasn't great. Oh well. No Laurel, so that was a plus.
And I feel like we've seen less of Slade this season even though he's a series regular now. Hopefully we'll get more Slade and Shadow in the flashbacks now that Oliver made contact with them.
Anyway, very good episode, keep it up Arrow!
May he said it before they filmed this episode? He gave an interview right around the time of this episode and basically mimicked what Oliver said and did on screen.
ReplyDeleteI am in awe of how many balls this show can juggle at one time.
ReplyDeleteGreat Diggle episode, and nice to get some backstory on him.
We have seen less Slade.
ReplyDelete*Nods*
I guess since a few episodes' flashbacks have been centered on the prison ship with Sara, Wade has been absent in some episodes.
I knew he looked familiar, but I never would have thought of Zelenka! XD
ReplyDeleteOliver sleeping with Isabel served more than just hormones too!
ReplyDeleteNot saying the flashbackstory is bad, I very much enjoy it, just was hoping for a bit more Oliver/Slade/Shado interaction to this point. I will say, I'm proud of the show having 2 compelling stories going on with the present day and the flashbacks to the island.
I expect A.R.G.U.S.to return in the future........is Amanda Walker an ally or a Anatagonist but not a villain
ReplyDeleteI would really like to see Oliver & Felicity swap places in the angst department, I
ReplyDeleteas much as i want them to happen I don't want them to pull the rigger on them too soon.
ReplyDeleteI liked this episode, didn't SUmmer would be sticking around so long and definitely didn't think they would sleep together but whoa. The action was good Diggle and Deadshot working together was a mindblowing knowing how much he hates him. And Felicity is still awesome, nothing changed that this episode
ReplyDeleteSweet mother of God, all i can think about this episode is finally we have shirtless Diggle, and damn it, he is in better shape than Oliver
ReplyDeletemaybe deadshot will become an ally to Diggle own him a debt to him get out of prison? and more about HIVE organization
ReplyDeleteLOL ur not the only one! = )
ReplyDeleteI'm a native Russian (lived there for 17 years) - I have absolutely no freaking idea what Stephen tried to say there. The only bit I understood was 'Something something something... they will track you down (which is one word in Russian -) and... something something something*
ReplyDeleteAnd btw, whenever Stephen speaks 'Russian' it's pretty much always like that, he tries to be more fluent and pronounces the words faster which pretty much turns his speeches into nonsense.
Summer Glau's pronunciation was way more clear though, kudos to her. And Knyazev's wasn't too bad.
What sparks? Honestly, there is no chemistry at all between the two characters.
ReplyDeleteYou know...I didn't really notice....
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I wanted to see more of the Thea and Roy subplot...most likely because it somehow hold my interest more than the other two. With the flashback, I was pretty sure how it would end, and the whole Russia thing was just disappointing. They keep teasing but don't tell anything. But I guess, I also don't think that Diggle is that interesting that I want whole episodes about him.
ReplyDeleteThe whole Oliver Isabell scenes where just awkward. I now made up my mind: I don't like her character, she is a waste of airtime.
I'm personally looking forward to see Deadshot again now. I think he's still going to be evil, and he might become an ally for a while but he'll never be someone they can trust.
ReplyDeleteAs for H.I.V.E, if they are sticking to the plan they teased back in June, this organization will be a threat to Oliver too, so here's hoping Diggle doesn't keep this to himself for long.
I expect A.R.G.U.S to return to and they have leverage. They know how Ollie spends his nights, and he currently has nothing on them.
ReplyDeleteI wonder what Lance told the other cops afterwards. What was the "misunderstanding".
ReplyDeleteMe too, lol. I only noticed about 30 minutes after I finished watching the episode.
ReplyDeleteFelicity had feelings for Oliver from the start. She is a woman and she doesn't seem to have much social life outside of her job so what do you expect?
ReplyDeleteHe gave that interview when they filmed episode 2.09. That was indeed weird.
ReplyDeleteWe know Oliver did save the Russian guy at the end. I wonder if we'll now see the five of them working together on the island (Ollie, Slade, Shado, the Russian guy, and Sara.) That would spice things up and make the flashbacks more interesting.
ReplyDeleteAll I can say is, poor Slade.
ReplyDeleteI ship Diggle and Lyla and I hope she doesn't betray him.
ReplyDeleteWho says that Felicity has a crush on Oliver? Just because she thinks that he is attractive, it doesn't mean that she necessarily wants to be his girlfriend.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, everything relating to Isabell is puzzling me. I don't feel her character at all.
Holy shit, they acknowledged the Oliver and Felicity shipping.
ReplyDeleteNot my episode...the only thing it brought across is that
ReplyDelete1.
ReplyDeleteTotally.
ReplyDeletePretty much all of the accents were terrible. Summer Glau's was a little better than the others. The award "The Most Horrible Russian Accent" goes to Stephen Amell. I don't know if he tries too hard or somethingt, but his russian is mostly mishmash of unrecognizable sounds.
ReplyDeleteAs for dialog between him and seller of the truck.
ReplyDeleteOooh, that would definitely make things interesting because honestly the island/ship flashbacks are my least favorite aspect on the show even though they shed light on important plot points.
ReplyDeleteWell this felt like badly shot and badly written version of Agents of Shield, just without Whedon family talent and wit.
ReplyDeleteThat said it WAS still a slight improvement from the mess that was the whole
fake-canary storyline, But it still had HORRIBLE flaws like:
- Oliver's growing harem.
- Sexist undertones in EVERYTHING this week.
- Complte Absence of the show's lead female, Laurel,
- Show's inability to write its female characters as anything but love interests or damsels.
It's hilarious though that as Agents of SHIELD keeps improving with every episode, Arrow this season seemed intent to lower the quality almost every episode.
3/5
Enjoy your pointless hate. Will be fun to see people like you spill vitriol all over when Laurel finally gets her deserved Black Canary storyline. :)
ReplyDeleteLMAO, I've yet to see any Shield episode getting close to Arrow's level, I don't know which shows you're watching but it's definitely not the ones I watch..
ReplyDeleteSometimes the flashbacks are interesting and sometimes they aren't. They are kinda a mixed bag. I do like their concept but sometimes they feel forced, like they think they have to have flashbacks every episode instead of sticking only to the present once in a while.
ReplyDeleteMaybe he didn't have too much sleep before lol, having a baby and all, and just forgot..
ReplyDeleteAnd now she has an agenda too.
ReplyDeleteIf she has one, we have seen nothing of it so far. Instead Oliver derailed her career, destroyed her reputation and in both cases it was played for laughs.
ReplyDeleteThat's how I feel as well, sometimes I feel they're totally unnecessary. However, I've been rather interested in flashbacks since they added the Amazo/Sara story.
ReplyDeleteLOL YOU of all people talking about hate. You're always the laugh of the day for me.
ReplyDeleteI don't Give a rat's ass about her becoming BC or not because that would require me to CARE about Laurel which I don't.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I'm hoping we get a Felicity centric episode in the back half of S2, similar to the Lance, Sara and Diggle centric episodes we've gotten. I think we need some back-story, especially an explanation as to how/why someone with her technical abilities/intelligence was just a lowly IT Girl that apparently people thinks slept her way to an awesome "promotion".
ReplyDeleteThe point is that she doesn't have the qualifications for the job.
ReplyDeleteIsobel probably think Felicity slept her way up to get promotion because that's what she did herself.. personally, I agree with Felicity that this isn't a promotion, and it's not what she wanted either.
ReplyDeleteDiggle is indeed a great character. Good to see more of him! Loved whenever he'd 'cover' as The Hood.
ReplyDeleteI know I am going to get some serious downvotes for this but, am I the only person on this site who believes that not EVERY single show like Arrow or whatever needs the main male and female characters to be paired up just to appease shippers like 'Olicity'? To be honest it sometimes ruins certain aspects of shows for me
We don't know that she doesn't have the qualifications for the job. (So far all she's been asked to do is make dinner reservations for Oliver and deliver a piece of paper to Isabel. I know 10 year olds who can do that.) Given that she updated the computing system on her visit to the Arrow cave, and then completely re-did it after the earthquake damage in her own initiative, I think she can handle an EA job.
ReplyDeleteWhat we do know is that she is way, way overqualified for what she is currently doing.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't underestimate the role a PA has when the boss is the chef of a company.
ReplyDeleteIn the end, it depends on how Felicity sees it...and she sees it as a demotion. This in mind, I wish she would not forgive Oliver that easily for going behind her back.
I think Tom Hiddleston is way way attractive, but I don't want to be his girlfriend. Having a crush can just be an appreciation of the other person, with the occasional fantasy we indulge in.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I think Oliver is less attractive to Felicity now that she knows he slept with Isabel.
ReplyDeleteYou make excellent points on the EA postilion, I never realized it could be that important, I always looked at is as another Admin job. I've very much viewed this as a demotion (much like what Felicity herself viewed it as).
ReplyDeleteI do hope it comes up again and I really hope they move past this for S3..give her something in the tech field but that allows for direct access to Oliver.
I still think that they should have made Diggle the PA...not that he is qualified either, but I totally can see him doing the job. He is way better suited for it than Felicity (for starters because he is not prone to babbling...and would come up with convincing excuses).
ReplyDeleteCompass_1 is dead on! Shield is a giant pile! I love Joss be he has definitly sold out as of late, anything he is a part of in the last few years has been a pale shadow of his awesomness!
ReplyDeleteI think we'll find out Isobel's motivation soon enough.
ReplyDeleteYou're not alone. I like Felicity, and I think the actors have great chemistry, but the whole thing felt a bit forced. And it's very clear when the writers are providing fanservice. I wish they didn't.
ReplyDeleteI caught a few episodes of Warehouse 13, but not enough to know the directors or writers honestly... However, I welcome all good writers and directors! XD
ReplyDeleteThanks to you and Alexandra Kholodova!
ReplyDeleteI read an article with Summer Glau after the show and she said she thought Stephen spoke Russian better than she did (maybe just flattery?) and that she actually spoke a little Russian before Arrow.
Guess it really didn't help much! XD
The article:
http://tvline.com/2013/11/13/arrow-season-2-preview-summer-glau-isabel-oliver-felicity/
ReplyDeleteWell, you care enough to whine about it every week :)
ReplyDeleteAnd everything I say I can pretty much back up with arguments, making it a critique instead of hate, if to put it in layman's terms.
ReplyDeleteA character that is shoehorned into a scene every episode and sooo relevant that nobody realized she was missing last night until it was pointed out proves just how "front and center" she is.
ReplyDeleteOliver might not be part of Queens consolidated next season, and I don't know who else could he trust to take Felicity's current role. He can trust her to understand where he is and lie for him if needed but he can't trust someone who doesn't know his secret that way.
ReplyDeleteI thought this episode was great!
ReplyDeleteFor the first time, I enjoyed SG's character.
No, you blindly worship a character that is a train wreck instead! XD
ReplyDeleteLaurel Lance may rock in the comics (which is irrelevant), but on the show she is just a mess.
I really like the character Felicity, but I'm not sure a Felicity-centric episode sounds like a good thing to me.
ReplyDeleteDiggle has back story that integrates in the DC universe, and connects to Oliver via Deadshot (And now maybe H.I.V.E. as well), but Felicity as far as we know does not have a tragic past or any episode that would be relevant to the DC universe or Oliver.
ReplyDeleteI thought that was cute, how Roy said he and Quentin were on "his" team :p
ReplyDeletethis is the first episode it didnt feel forced to me, it seemed genuine. I could go either way on their relationship, but if it were to happen i wouldnt want it anytime soon. I think they may try the Sara route first, shared experiences and all.
ReplyDeleteBut by helping Oliver she's helping to save the city. Felicity is an heroine in her own right.
ReplyDeleteNaturally she is...I just wish the show would frame it this way, too.
ReplyDeleteSeriously dude calm down
ReplyDeleteAwesome episode as per usual hasn't disappointed me yet
ReplyDeleteAwesome!.
ReplyDeleteI like Felicity very much and I like Oliver very much, but I always saw them as just friends. I always thought that Felicity's fangirl comments about him are a joke. And if she likes how he looks it doesn't necessarily mean that she's in love with him. But I do think they would make a nice couple.
ReplyDeleteThe episode was awesome as usual, there hasn't been a single episode this season which I haven't liked. Love this show
ReplyDelete
