  1. Watched the pilot this morning and liked it, so I decided to give the show another chance. Glad I did. The show's good and I'll give it another chance.

LOL forever at Dorian scanning John's balls. Good episode!

  2. I thought the second episode was much better. I'm digging it.

  3. Quote of the freakin week from Kennex "Please don't ever scan my testicles again"

Thought this episode was much different from last night. First off its a bit more procedural then last week was, but it's what the show needs so I have no problems. I can see there only fleshing out Dorian, Kennex, Stahl, and the synthetic doctor right now, but I hope we see more of Maldanado and the other cop who dislikes Kennex.

Also way more humorous then yesterday. There were no real laughs last night(which I enjoyed) but Dorian and Kennex's chemistry has already made them a great duo and I see a lot of Dorian-Kennex back and forths in the future.

They are still doing that naming technology but not explaining it thing, and I love it. Like I said yesterday it makes the show seem more real.

There already acknowledging the Kennex/Stahl pairing, and I fully expect for them to not get together for quite awhile.

Plot was solid, and also quite messed up. The future's a dark place when we're stealing skin off human beings to make money.

Loving the Almost Human/Sleepy Hollow pairing. Even when Sleepy Hollow ends season 1 and the Following comes back it'll still rock.

8.75/10 for tonight's episode, improved from the pilot, can't wait for next week, even if I have 0 clue what it is about.

  5. The pilot was between ok and good, but this episode was great :D So much better, more brighter, more funny lines and very good moment, bondings moments between the characters and not just Dorian and John.

    Looking forward for next week

  6. ;) Honorable mention to your note => 8.75, you weren't just unable to decide between 8 or 9, you were stuck between 8,5 and 9

  8. Awesome episode!

The warmth in color, character development, and story that were absent last episode were all there tonight and it made for a much more relatable episode I think.

The relationship between Kennex and Dorian grew considerably and their chemistry is great. Partner banter can be hit or miss and is often cliche, but I can honestly say I don't recall ever hearing a ball-scanning joke before! XD

The episode also had a much more defined COTW story, which some may consider a bad thing, but I do not. It seems like for the foreseeable future Sci-Fi series will need a fairly strong COTW format to be acceptable to viewers and get large enough ratings to stay on the air. I don't mind a procedural if it brings something new to the table and Almost Human does.

The strong Bladerunner and Fringe vibe continued tonight as well. I think AH manages to combine elements of each Sci-Fi classic without feeling like it is too derivative. At least so far I have enjoyed the shared elements as more homage than rip-off.

I love the new tech, it is not only fun but based on current tech which makes it feel organic and believable.

The only futuristic aspect I have issues with is how the city looks like it has all modern buildings whenever they show a skyline. So many of our buildings today are decades old, some hundreds of years old and the 2049 skyline seems to have been created all within the last decade with futuristic looking buildings. That small picked nit aside, I really like the futuristic environment the show has created!

  9. You're right. I kinda wish it was set after 2100 at least.

  10. Me-

1st episode of Almost Human "It was pretty good, I'll see if it gets better"

2nd episode "ok, I'm sold. Full season order please".
I thought the pilot was decent enough that I'd give it 5 or 6 eps to show me a winner, it took just 1 episode to do it. If the rest of the season is 1/2 that good, they have a winner.

  13. The story wasn't anything massively new but I really like the characters and the universe. Officially programming my DVR. :-)

  14. Between 8.7 and 8.8 even! I totally understand; I rate episodes the same way. "Hmm, it definitely felt like a 7.3, but there's that one scene that I really want to factor into my decision... Fine, 7.4"

  15. I was sold on the pilot, but this ep was even better. Love the chemistry and the one liners..super CG and love the car.

  16. I would not say highlight, but I DO want one, that was crazy fun. lol

  17. Another great episode. I like the characters and it has a nice Bladerunner feel. Good one liners and great chemistry between Kennex and Dorian.

  18. I rate by .25's and I gave the first episode a 8.5 and this was an improvement but not enough to be a 9 so 8.75 it was.

I didn't mind the COTW feel either, because, just like some of those episodes of Fringe, it still had emotional depth and character building. I also feel like what we are seeing will still inner relate to the big picture anyways. I think the former sex bot company or the Albanians may be a part of The Syndicate. (Yuri had an interesting Tattoo) and I liked how John visited the Pelhams so that we do not forget what happened to Martin :)

  20. The giraffe was such a cool little thing! I want one too! XD

  21. Great second episode! Really enjoyed the case of the week, the emotional punch and the character building!

And talk about breaking someone's balls. xD

  22. BEST... SCENE:.. EVER! xD

I'm already hooked on the show. Hope it lasts, it's great :)

  23. I thought something was a little off about this episode, like the banter between Dorian and John was fun but seemed to be quite sudden and then I found out Fox is messing up with the scheduling. This is the 5th episodes produced and next week is the 6th. Now I can understand if these eps are stronger than 2-5 but it messes with the flow of the story/character interactions and that pisses me off.

    ReplyDelete
  24. If this is correct it would not be the first time they have messed with eps, that is what happened with Firefly.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Yep they have a history of doing this, I wish they wouldn't.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Ugh Seriously?
    Firefly all over again!

I wonder if there is a possibility that the episode was thte 5th produced, but always planned to air second? Seems unlikely...

If it was "moved forward" I wonder if it was because FOX wanted to establish the Kennex/ Stahl romance in people's minds? This episode did bring that front and center a couple of times.....

    ReplyDelete
  27. I wonder what music was playing in the background. I really liked it.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Yeah, especially when it comes to John. He made a lot of progress in the 1st episode accepting Dorian, but it's a little hard to believe that he'd already be that sympathetic and understanding of him. Like when he noticed Dorian was quiet after he was told the female android was being destroyed.

  29. Yeah the production codes were on wiki but I noticed they have been removed, Futon Critic has them up though what is extra annoying is how the next few eps are 6, 7, 8 etc they seemed to have skipped 2, 3 and 4 completely so when they finally got shown I imagine the dynamic between Dorian and John is going to be a lot more frosty again and confuse viewers.

  30. Thanks for the info. Glad I checked back here. There was a couple of things that seemed out of place. Things were developing too fast.

  31. Oh no wonder! I thought they became to friendly to quickly...
