So we finally find out why Pan really wants Henry, so that he can be immortal, how original. But it still looks like a great episode and it looked like Regina and Emma were trying to draw down the moon. Can't wait!!! And I hope they explain the wardrobe changes lol
I remember someone (maybe Jen) saying in an interview they brought a backpack so they could sneak extra clothes and only changed when it started getting cold.
It does seem to be a goal for many villains and that is why I am disappointed. At least with Cora it was different (and personally more understandable) not original, but better and more in depth than what Pan is attempting.
Well, she wanted power. Immortality is usually a villainy trope because it defaults to power, due to the unbroken expanse of time with which to accumulate land/men/magic/etc.
But you're right about Cora's desire having more depth. We got hints of it from Cora's very first appearance. But we're 7 episodes in and there's no real explanation of Pan's driving force, which isn't necessarily bad but on this show comes across like they're waiting to have a SUPER BIG REVEAL about Pan in his POV episode. Like he's actual Rumple's father and thus this is all just an exercise in daddy issues.
Yeah, bit disappointing, but maybe there's a twist. He's basically immortal in Neverland but it seems he can't leave it, so maybe he needs to be immortal this way so that he can go to other lands
I've always liked the explanation given in Harry Potter. Voldemort wants to be immortal because he fears death. Fearing death and being prepared to do anything to avoid it will drive you to become the villain.
I always thought Pan wanted something way more difficult than immortality, like bringing someone back from the dead, which is proven can't be done by magic (or science), and that makes a 300 year search for the truest believer worth it. if Pan wants immortality, why didn't he just find gold's dagger and use that to kill him, becoming the dark one grants people immortality. So after toying with rumple for centuries and being the people that rumple afraid of, Pan is still not as powerful as rumple cause he isn't immortal?
I think Pan is already immortal, as the island is, but if Neverland is ran on magic and the magic is disappearing, than as Neverland dies so does Pan Which if this is the case, than Charming is still in danger as well
Techinically Neverland runs on belief right? So if that belief ever finished, so would Pan. That's not self-sustaining immortality, he still depends on something. So maybe whatever he's after will give permanent immorality with no loopholes
Maybe Pan was a "victim" (and use that term extremely loosely) of dream shade and had to drink from that spring so he can't leave the island (like Charming)...if he's immortal then he'd be able to leave again! I know we've seen him in the enchanted forest but maybe the dream shade incident happened later...I'm mean at some point he started sending his shadow to bring new lost boys to neverland and the home office people to do his dirty work! There's gonna be a way to get off that miserable island for Charming's sake!
well i guess someone learned how to rip his own heart out ! seeing his lineage that's fair ! her one of his mother liked to rip people's heart, and her mother was the "queen of hearts" ! not to mention the personn who taught them how to do that..henry's grandpa Rumplestiltskin
Ok, so I am not a Swan Queen shipper, but right now the love triangle is getting on my nerves and the ONLY interesting interaction Emma's had the entire season is with Regina. This promo is the final proof.
Awesome! But I reaaaalllly want a Regina/Pan show down. I find it too much of a coincidence that he hadn't even acknowledged her or challenged her like the others yet. But the episode looks brilliant! Can't wait!
Why couldn't we just leave Henry in Neverland :P? "#SaveHenry".... mehhhh.... I get it, blah blah truest believer blah blah Emmas son blah blah, but the actor really annoys me.Their next magic mission should be to make Jared Gilmore able to act,
Maybe they'll explain it on the episode. When the Hook/Neal sneak peek came out everyone was like "Oh, like Neal didn't hear when he was on the cave" and then it was addressed on the show...
I know Henry is a kid and that's why he's so gullible but it was insufferable last episode I can't wait for this one, i've been waiting to see them all work together since the beginning of this season and I can't wait for Emma to get her magic on
I forgot about that! Still, it has to be about more than just immortality, I think there are limits to what he can do outside of Neverland. There must be a reason why he went to the Enchanted Forest for the Lost Boys, but it was his shadow that tried to recruit the Darlings, for example.
His shadow didn't try and recruit the Darlings it tried to kidnap them and took Baelfire instead. I think he went in person for the Lost Boys because he wasn't just looking for random boys who could have henry's magic heart, he wanted boys who would happily stay on neverland with him and be his friends. For that he had to play his pipes which the shadow couldn't do. I think he sends his shadow to do his bidding because he can't be bothered doing it himself.
Can you think of a goal greater to someone, who has eternal youth already, that is better than immortality? Specifically someone with plenty of current and future enemies?
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
This looks awesome! I can't wait for it.
ReplyDeleteturtleneck really?
ReplyDeleteI'm not gonna lie. This has been the episode I've been waiting for. Can anyone translate "subtitles", please??? :-D
ReplyDeletedid they bring spare clothes or something?
ReplyDeleteIs that Henry putting his own heart inside Pan? How did he get his own heart out?
ReplyDeleteSo we finally find out why Pan really wants Henry, so that he can be immortal, how original. But it still looks like a great episode and it looked like Regina and Emma were trying to draw down the moon. Can't wait!!! And I hope they explain the wardrobe changes lol
ReplyDeleteI remember someone (maybe Jen) saying in an interview they brought a backpack so they could sneak extra clothes and only changed when it started getting cold.
ReplyDeleteIsn't that the driving force behind every villain in sci fi/fantasy?
ReplyDeleteIt's the wardrobe horse sorry that's wonderland
ReplyDeleteImmortal? Seriously? That had better not be Pan's big plan.
ReplyDeleteI am thinking its a side-effect not the main plan. Anyone in neverland already is "immortal".
ReplyDeleteIt does seem to be a goal for many villains and that is why I am disappointed. At least with Cora it was different (and personally more understandable) not original, but better and more in depth than what Pan is attempting.

ReplyDeletePan: Tonight, Henry saves magic!
ReplyDeleteEmma: It's time... let's get Henry.
Gold: Mind if I... borrow this?
Regina: I need help
Emma: With magic...?
Regina: Follow my lead...
Wendy: [Two words I can't make out] Pan will be immortal, and Henry will die
Ah, thanks so much!!! :-)
ReplyDeleteCool to see Regina back with the group and interesting that she needs Emma's help with magic.
ReplyDeleteYes Jen and Ginny mentioned that they kept stuff in MM/Snow's backpack having learned from 1st part of season 2.
ReplyDeleteas if eternal youth isn't good enough for him.
ReplyDeleteI've always liked the explanation given in Harry Potter. Voldemort wants to be immortal because he fears death. Fearing death and being prepared to do anything to avoid it will drive you to become the villain.
ReplyDeleteUnless Peter Pan wasn't lying about Neverland's magic wearing off, in which case he may actually be slowly dying.
ReplyDeleteHe can leave, he ventured to the Enchanted Forest to recruit the Lost Boys.
ReplyDeletewho cares, where that did come from? there is a store in Neverland?
ReplyDeleteNice touch

Well shit is getting real
ReplyDeleteI think Pan is already immortal, as the island is, but if Neverland is ran on magic and the magic is disappearing, than as Neverland dies so does Pan
ReplyDeleteWhich if this is the case, than Charming is still in danger as well
This is what Pan wants the others to believe, remember? Wendy is his puppet and what she's saying can't be trusted out of context
ReplyDeleteThey have spare clothes in Snow's backpack.
ReplyDeleteI think that's what Pan wants as well.
ReplyDeleteOhhhhhh shait, the tactical turtleneck is out, this is not a drill people, things are gonna get REAL.
ReplyDeleteTechinically Neverland runs on belief right? So if that belief ever finished, so would Pan. That's not self-sustaining immortality, he still depends on something. So maybe whatever he's after will give permanent immorality with no loopholes
ReplyDeleteI think she says "With it, Pan will be immortal, and Henry will die."
ReplyDeleteWow, poor Emma's backflip!
ReplyDeleteMaybe Pan was a "victim" (and use that term extremely loosely) of dream shade and had to drink from that spring so he can't leave the island (like Charming)...if he's immortal then he'd be able to leave again! ReplyDeleteIs this the mid-season finale?
ReplyDeletei think she just say "Peter Pan will be immortal, and Henry will die.''
ReplyDeletewell i guess someone learned how to rip his own heart out ! seeing his lineage that's fair ! her one of his mother liked to rip people's heart, and her mother was the "queen of hearts" ! not to mention the personn who taught them how to do that..henry's grandpa Rumplestiltskin
ReplyDeletehow i thought emma and regina were flying
ReplyDeleteyeah i always loved that explanation too !
ReplyDeleteno
ReplyDeleteI think bringing someone back from the dead is the thing they're doing on OUAT in Wonderland right now
ReplyDeleteThe Harry Potter explanation is pretty much the same in all other media too.
ReplyDeleteOk, so I am not a Swan Queen shipper, but right now the love triangle is getting on my nerves and the ONLY interesting interaction Emma's had the entire season is with Regina. This promo is the final proof.
ReplyDeleteNice of them not to explain that in the show (unless they do in the episode). But thank you for that information! :)
ReplyDelete'Were trying to draw down the moon' - omg, am I the only one who thought of Bruce Almighty?
ReplyDeleteAwesome! But I reaaaalllly want a Regina/Pan show down.
ReplyDeleteI find it too much of a coincidence that he hadn't even acknowledged her or challenged her like the others yet.

ReplyDeleteQuestion... Why couldn't Rumpel help Regina with magic?
ReplyDeleteI know Henry is a kid and that's why he's so gullible but it was insufferable last episode I can't wait for this one, i've been waiting to see them all work together since the beginning of this season and I can't wait for Emma to get her magic on

ReplyDeleteReason why Emma is wearing it is bc the day they were shooting it was really cold in Canada. they even mentioned it when they posted the interview
ReplyDeleteHis shadow didn't try and recruit the Darlings it tried to kidnap them and took Baelfire instead.
ReplyDeleteI think he went in person for the Lost Boys because he wasn't just looking for random boys who could have henry's magic heart, he wanted boys who would happily stay on neverland with him and be his friends. For that he had to play his pipes which the shadow couldn't do. I think he sends his shadow to do his bidding because he can't be bothered doing it himself.
This one looks insane! Can't wait! Everyone finally facing off!
ReplyDeleteWouldn't have been THAT cold... I live where they film. We haven't had many cold days. Depends what time of the day I suppose.
ReplyDeleteCan you think of a goal greater to someone, who has eternal youth already, that is better than immortality? Specifically someone with plenty of current and future enemies?
