Murder, She Wrote reboot - Angela Lansbury against it

Nov 11, 2013

“I think it’s a mistake to call it Murder, She Wrote,” Lansbury said, “because Murder, She Wrote will always be about a Cabot Cove and this wonderful little group of people who told those lovely stories and enjoyed a piece of that place, and also enjoyed Jessica Fletcher, who is a rare and very individual kind of person …

“So I’m sorry that they have to use the title Murder, She Wrote, even though they have access to it and it’s their right.”

Lansbury said she admires Spencer’s work.

“I saw her in `The Help’ and thought she was absolutely wonderful, a lovely actress,” Lansbury said. “So I wish her well, but I wish it wasn’t in Murder, She Wrote.”

  1. Not a fan of reboots but Murder, She Wrote is one of the few crime dramas I'd agree to reboot. Because a.) enough time has passed and b.) but Lansbury there were no actors or characters that made the show their own.

Of course it could go horribly wrong but a lighthearted drama like this is something television is in dire need of nowadays

  3. Couldn't agree more. I love the talented Octavia Spencer, but just name the show sth else for crying out loud.

  4. A. Lansbury is one of a kind... but I'd give the reboot a watch... because we sure could use great tv dramas.. instead of all this reality tv.. that people can't seem to stop watching....one thing I'd have to disagree with her about though.. and that's that Murder She Wrote wasn't always about Cabot Cove and the people there.... sometimes they took the ep's outside Cabot Cove which I hated... butI still watched every last ep but the ones where she was in Cabot Cove were the best...

  5. I agree. I'm a HUGE Angela Lansbury fan and I loved Murder, She Wrote. I'm willing to give the reboot a try, but they need to change the name. Nothing will ever compare to the original or to Mrs. Angela Lansbury.

  6. I'm sick of this obsessive need to make so many reboots. Though I've enjoyed some of them (Battlestar Galactica, the Munsters remake pilot), the rest of them I felt were unnecessary. Making a reboot of Murder, She Wrote is an offense to me. I consider it to be a TV treasure that shouldn't be tarnished by pale imitations. It deserves that level of respect. I support you, Angela, 100%.
