Hostages - Episode 1.10 - Burden of Truth - Review

Burden of Truth picks up right where last week's Hostages left off. Duncan and Ellen discuss why POTUS would want his daughter dead if he knew she was alive. It turns out Kincaid raped a young woman named Kate back in the days, after which Nina was born. Burton helped to get Kate out of the country and she was presumed to have died during childbirth. After Nina became sick, Burton told Duncan she was the president's daughter. What's intersting to see, is that nobody knows that this is the real why Duncan is doing this. I believe even Kramer doesn't know, so I'm curious to see how that plays out. Especially because the team goes to New York to save the president next week, so Duncan will have to give a reason why they need to save the president.

After Duncan learns Quentin died, he and Burton talk about it and wonder why they are not dead yet. Brian learns about Hofmann's death and panicks. He says they gunned down Boyd in their own house and they won't stop anyway. Ellen says she suspects more is going on, but doesn't tell him about what she just learned.

Ellen looks into Nina's medical records and finds someone who could be a possible bone marrow donor. She visits the woman, who turns out to be Nina's mother! She didn't actually die, but Burton let everyone think she did. After Ellen and Kate have a little chat, Ellen leaves her alone.

In the meantime, Boyd's father comes to the Sanders to ask about his son. Morgan says he shipped out for a few months and that she doesn't blame him for running away. Sandrine, who watches the entire scene, gets emotional. Afterwards, Brian asks Morgan why she lied to Boyd's father and she says she just wants to cooperate. Brian is stunned to learn that he is the only person in the house who is still opposing his captors. I do hope that they won't turn the entire family into slaves. I am still waiting for the scene in a promo with Morgan and Jake (who was absent this week, btw) where they have a bodybag.

Duncan talks to Logan and says he wants direct contact with the people at the top now that Quentin is dead. Logan says that it's not gonna happen. Vanessa and Blair want to get more involved, so they want to get rid of Duncan and his team while Logan hires a sniper. Also, he blackmails Sandrine into working as a mole in the team for him. When Duncan learns about the sniper, he thinks he is the target. But when he finds out the sniper is headed to New York, he decudes that Kincaid is the target - and Duncan is going to save him!

Hostages is clearly building towards an ending, which I'm really excited for! With Duncan turning on Vanessa and Blair, a confrontation seems inevitable.
