FOX is announcing schedule changes, set to take place in early 2014.

Last season’s No. 1 new series, THE FOLLOWING, returns for its thrilling 14-week second season with a special two-night season premiere event, beginning Sunday, Jan. 19 (10:00-11:00 PM ET/7:00-8:00 PM PT), following the NFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME (live, 6:00-10:00 PM ET). The two-night event continues with its time period premiere on Monday, Jan. 20 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT), following the season finale of SLEEPY HOLLOW, airing at a special time (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT).

Bold new legal drama RAKE debuts on Thursday, Jan. 23 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT), following an all-new AMERICAN IDOL (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT). Making his broadcast television series debut, Academy Award nominee and Emmy Award winner Greg Kinnear (“Little Miss Sunshine,” “The Kennedys”) plays a brilliant and frustratingly charming criminal defense attorney, whose chaotic and self-destructive personal life often gets in the way of his professional one.

Changes to Tuesday nights begin after THE MINDY PROJECT (9:30-10:00 PM ET/PT) airs its Winter Finale on Jan. 28. Beginning Tuesday, Feb. 4, BROOKLYN NINE-NINE moves to its new time period premiere at 9:30-10:00 PM ET/PT, following all-new installments of NEW GIRL (9:00-9:30 PM ET/PT). DADS continues to kick off Tuesdays (8:00-8:30 PM ET/PT) until Tuesday, Feb. 11.

On Tuesday, Feb. 25 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT), GLEE makes Tuesdays sing when it moves to a new day and time and returns with all-new episodes for the remainder of the season. All-new installments of NEW GIRL (9:00-9:30 PM ET/PT) and BROOKLYN NINE-NINE (9:30-10:00 PM ET/PT) follow, until THE MINDY PROJECT returns Tuesday, April 1 (9:00-9:30 and 9:30-10:00 PM ET/PT), with a special one-hour event featuring all-new back-to-back episodes. The series returns to its regular time period beginning Tuesday, April 8 (9:30-10:00 PM ET/PT).

Additional premiere dates and schedule information to be announced.

As previously announced, new comedy ENLISTED will debut Friday, Jan. 10 (9:30-10:00 PM ET/PT). And, following FOX Sports’ coverage of SUPER BOWL XLVIII on Sunday, Feb. 2 (6:00-10:30 ET live), an all-new episode of NEW GIRL will air (10:30-11:00 PM ET/7:30-8:00 PM PT), followed by an all-new episode of BROOKLYN NINE-NINE (11:00-11:30 PM ET/8:00-8:30 PM PT).

  1. More looking forward to the spring at FOX. Gang Related and 24: Live Another Day all the way baby.

  2. Yes! I'm so happy Brooklyn Nine-Nine is getting away from Dads and now is going to be after New Girl.

  3. Lol though I didn't expect to see it but still sad about Us and Them, probably gonna air at some obscure time around May or the summer, what huge bummer.

  4. I just hope the execs at FOX love The Mindy Project and give it a third season, it's sooo hilarious this year and I love that Adam Pally is in the cast now.

  5. Not necessarily. Suspicions have been rising about FOX wanting to premiere 24: Live Another Day in Spring and run it through the Summer. Seasons that begin in the Summer (May, June, July) tend to run over into September, which is Fall. FOX may want the season finale to air specifically in the Summer. This is, of course, just speculation on my part.

  6. Ugh, I have to choose between Glee or PLL?
    PLL probably.

  7. Look what SSDROID wrote. And FOX alluded a may-date for 24: LAD. Also Gang Related before that in april. Because they seem to need the space for Wayward Pines late in the summer.

  8. Well there goes Brooklyn Nine-Nine for me. Same time as Supernatural and no way I'm missing that. Sucks cause I really do enjoy Nine-Nine. Just another day after show I suppose.

I like what they are doing with Sleepy Hollow and The Following.even if it means Almost Human has to skip a week. Couldn't be more happy with FOX Mondays.

Cool that the Rake is on Thursday's but it conflicts with Community so it'll have to be one of those shows I watch the day after.

Other then that nothing else matters to me here.

  9. The only Fox shows I currently watch are Almost Human, Sleepy Hollow, and The Following so I have to agree I love Fox Mondays.

  10. Happy for B99, it is away from Dads and it seems like Fox want to give it a chance

  11. This is actually a great schedule. Maybe ABC could get a clue. Two major ideas here which I really like:
    - FOX recognizes where it has problems and what moves it has to make. It's bold enough to make those moves because even if they require promotion, they are better than the current situation. That's how it should be. Not simply plugging holes (cough ABC cough)
    - FOX is making an incredible effort literally by keeping original programming airing Monday-Thursday for the entire year! That's amazing and something no other network has done in ages (if ever?). Everyone who watches TV should appreciate this, because it means more content for us.

    On to specifics:

    Dislikes (fairly minor and marginal):
    - premiering Enlisted on Fridays means it's DOA. Now, if FOX has decided the show has no potential future and is dead, then it's understandable; if not, well, it will still be dead. It's a shame because the show looks good and in other circumstances, it would pair nicely with B99 I think. But there's no place on the schedule for it short of something like 9h30Wednesdays, so I kind of understand this and I truly believe they think it's DOA. If that's the case though I would just leave it to summer and double pump RH as fast as possible to replace it with Kitchen Nightmares. But this is a very minor and marginal moves, so I don' care that much.
    - putting Idol on that Tuesday special so soon after the Superbowl is stupid because it ruins any momentum that the two comedies could be building, they should avoid that.

    Likes:
    - The Following double night premiere, out of two fairly high rated lead-ins. It should ensure that it launches in great fashion. I think it will drop from last year's exceptional numbers (2nd highest rated new drama of the season, beat by Under the Dome only), but it should still do a very good job.
    - Glee to Tuesdays. Honestly, it should have never left this slot. At this point, I think the success of the move is not the numbers Glee pulls by themselves (I expect them to be pretty much in line with the Thursday ones), but rather the effect it has on New Girl. New Girl used to benefit incredibly from Glee's audience. It would always rate higher, but it would always build up on Glee and when Glee wasn't on, it would loose noticeably. I think this move is a vote of confidence to be able to build up New Girl and it should work fine. Between not having to face GA and two comedies and facing the voice, I think it's more or less the same. By the way, ABC is looking more and more stupid for not swapping the comedies and Shield.
    - B99 after New Girl. This was a no brainer move for everyone but I didn't think FOX was going to. I was so burned by Mindys renewal last year that I thought the same factors that led to it last year would apply again and that FOX was sticking with it until the end of the season. I love both comedies so I am happy about this. Not sure how compatible they are but that will have to be a minor issue and honestly, it's hard to not imagine B99 improving on its current numbers and on Mindy's numbers.
    - I am not sure I believe that Mindy will return in April. I smell a Gordon Ramsey early return but we shall see. I am very confused with the episode orders for New Girl though, not sure how it can have enough episodes to serve as lead-in for both B99 and TMP but we shall see.
    - Rake is getting a decent shot on Thursdays. It has the best lead-in FOX an offer it, a slot in which the only drama competition is GA which should not even have that much common audience, two modest CBS comedies and two flops from NBC. It's one of the best shots to launch a drama nowadays if I think of it, if not the best. It will sink or swim on its own merits.

    Well done, FOX!

    ReplyDelete
  12. Rake will air at 9pm and Community at 8pm, they can't possibly be in conflict.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I watch more than that (Bones, B99, New Girl) but I am also extremely happy with these FOX Mondays.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Us and Them was a given that would be a summer burnoff already. I am mildly surprised that Surviving Jack's premiere wasn't announced now but I kind of still believe they will launch it after AI. I think they are deciding whether to do it 9h30 Wednesdays or 8h30 Thursdays. I think 9h30 Wednesdays has a bit more competition but it's safer for them, as the AI lead-in is stronger and because it avoids them messing with Rake.

  15. Same here! Love that show

    ReplyDelete
  16. It's impossible to have them premiere before May. Assuming both will be paired up, there is no night on their schedule with room for 2 hours before May. Maybe they can premiere them in the first week of May Sweeps but I am not sure what they would gain with that. Everyone will be focused on all the finales hype by then. Why not wait for June when there is nothing on and they can have all the media and people's attention for themselves?

Additionally, I would say it would be smart for FOX to have them run into the fall. FOX always has the issue of having baseball putting their dramas on hiatus after 4 episodes in September/October which is kind of annoying for fans and I am sure for their promotional department. If they can have 24 and Gang Related debuting in late June and finishing early October before the playoffs (15 episode seasons) it would be ideal for them I think.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I thought Community was airing at 9? My bad. Can watch both then :)

    ReplyDelete
  18. Neps, Community will go to its usual 8pm place. It will be Community/Parks/Sean/Michael J.Fox for NBC come January.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I don't understand Brooklyn 99 got picked up for full season of 22 episodes so how the hell it's season finale airs in March??

Are they planning to air shows during the Olympics? Has FOX lost their mind?? lol
