I can see her coming back in the future, I took her last scene to be a goodbye to 11 rather than goodbye to the Doctor. Also, they'd be crazy for her and Capaldi not to play off each other imo, lol
I am excited to be getting a new Doctor but as always will miss the current one. Matt has been very good in the role even if some of the stories have been lacking. Hope he gets a great send off, there will be tears no doubt.
I don't know much about Peter - so I really don't have an opinion of him. I do like the fact that he is older. I didn't like last season much because it has gotten really predictable and possible because the companions are outshining the Doctor. Just to be clear, Clara and Amy are good companions and it is ok for them to question/save/or enable the Doctor- but they are slowly starting to become too powerful for lack of a better word. Anyways, I think an older Doctor and the story line started today would be a nice change of pace.
"see her one last time" - Not sure who you are referring to.
I think that we will see Clara again in the Christmas special and she definitely is the companion in season 8. (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/08/04/peter-capaldi-new-doctor-who-star_n_3690736.html)
I am not sure if we will or won't see Amy again. They have been known to bring back companions in finales and specials, so maybe. They (Amy and Clara) were just my examples of companions who the season started to revolve around and not the Doctor. Again, I like both of them and the other companions - but I think it just started to get old. They were my argument that a change is needed to the story line.
We've already seen River's last meeting with the Doctor, it was an extra on the boxset. I really hope that we do see her again though, Alex and Capaldi will be interesting to watch imo
I say the same for now, but for 20 years I always said that Tom was my Doctor so I suppose it could change at some point in the future. But Matt blew that all out of the water within about 20 minutes of his first episode, he's just *is* the Doctor in a way that Chris and David just didn't do for me in the reboot.
Same here, I liked David a lot to begin with but lost faith during S2 with all that Rose soap opera crap, and came very close to walking away during the last year of specials, what drivel :( I really don't like the way RTD took the show, but I will be forever grateful that he brought it back and made it so popular.
Nope, this wasn't River, I'm sure of it. But I'm also sure The Name of the Doctor wasn't her final appearance. Her last line was a hint that there's something fishy about how Clara managed to survive jumping into the Doctor's timeline and how River herself was kind of responsible. So I guess we still have to see that. And her final meeting with the Doctor, when he gives her his screwdriver. But yeah, not a chance that was the end of her!
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Short, but sweet :D
ReplyDeleteNot the Silence, not again! Poor Eleven (Twelve?)!
ReplyDeleteI'm gonna miss Matt so much!
Ahh, but whose side are the Silence on this time ;) #spoilers
ReplyDeleteWho said the name of the planet? It almost sounded like River but, that might be wishful thinking.
ReplyDeleteHmm, good point. It did sound a lot like her, but the accent doesn't quite sit right for me
ReplyDeleteIt's probably not her but I keep hoping we'll get one more River scene...I was so disappointed with the way they wrapped up her storyline.

ReplyDeleteDo you know something you're not saying? :P
ReplyDeleteThere's rumours going round the net ;)
ReplyDeleteInteresting, I'll look around. I sent you a tweet with a theory of mine, which seems ridiculous now I think about it.
ReplyDeleteWait, did Matt Smith not leave in the special today? I can't watch it till tomorrow but I thought the regeneration was happening today.
ReplyDeleteNo Matt Smith leaves in the Christmas Special. If you watch closely, you will see a glimpse of the new Doctor, however.
ReplyDeleteNOT. READY.

ReplyDeleteI don't want Peter to be the new Doctor wish they got someone else.
ReplyDeleteIt will be hard saying goodbye to Matt Smith, such a fabulous Doctor.

ReplyDeleteDo you have a rumours page? or something like that... I really don't know where to look... :(
ReplyDeleteHe really was good. Even in the episodes that were not very good, You always watched because of him. He is, and will be, always, my Doctor.
ReplyDeleteCompletely agree with you! :) I never had that connection with David Tennant.

ReplyDeleteSorry this ended up in the wrong place was supposed to be part of the above conversation about River Song.
