So this must mean that the numbers ARE wrong right? I know people were debating it. McGann was 8. Hurt is the real 9th (I don't know how people can say he's 8.5, as if that's a thing) Eccleston was 10, Tennant was 11, Smith 12, and Capaldi will be 13th. Will we get some Valeyard stuff next series perhaps?
Eccleston IS the 9th doctor... Hurt doesn't count. It's explained on The Name of The Doctor. The point is that his name represents what he is, so being Hurt's incarnation so off those rules he isn't considered The Doctor, he is a totally diferent incarnation. Even if all the Doctors are diferents they're all based on one principle: PROTECT OTHERS. Hurt's principles are the ones of a warrior: KILL EVERYONE IN THE NAME OF PEACE. He is not The Doctor.
Also, the 8th Doctor(McGann) decides to change it's self without dying... He drinks a potion to change at will, that goes agains the principle of reincarnation.
But it's still a regeneration. And they said he's already dead, and he's only 'back' for 4 minutes. I read Moffats thing on the BBC website about how he's not changing the numbers, which seemed a bit bullshit tbh. I'm really more interested in the whole Timelords gets 13 lives, and Valeyard implications that could happen. I know some people have theories and are sure they've heard it said that now that the Timelords are gone, that limit doesn't exist anymore; but the name drop of The Valeyard in 'The Name of The Doctor' had to be more than just a name drop to amuse us fans.
You have the example in the Valeyard. It is said that the Valeyard comes between 12th and 13th. But doesn't count as a Doctor. I think that you have 12th regenerations under the Name that you give yourself, given that that is an unbreakable promise. If you break it you get to live more, but it would be a life of shame, as the War Doctor, or you become utterly evil and opposite, such as the Valeyard.
I know I am so happy with it, esp because everyone was getting upset 8 wasn't going to be in it and he was! I hope this means 9 turns up because as we know everyone involved in the show likes to lie!
Agreed he isn't The Doctor we know because The Doctor couldn't do what is needed of him during the Time War. The War Doctor can but his actions has a huge effect on 9, 10 and 11 and no doubt beyond.
That leaves the door open to almost everything. They said over and over that there were no more Doctors than 10th and 11th. Then comes around 8th (in his birthday!! Happy Birthday Paul!!) and crashes that theory.
But that we know a little already, because McGann was seen in the Dr Who HQ around that time. And a couple of weeks later, the surviving Classic Doctors were "protesting" in front of the BBC...
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Stuck at work can't see it but found out what it contains and holy hell that is great, heard rumors it might happen but glad they went there

The War Doctor. Hmm... I guess, it does explain some things.
ReplyDeleteAlso it's great to see 8th Doctor being involved in the celebration!

ReplyDeleteAmazing... truly amizing 7 minutes of pure joy and answers. That's for all the people that said Moffat didn't do that... XD
ReplyDeleteAnd thus come to pass the 2nd appearance (and last) of Paul McGann as Doctor Who on TV. But what an appearance...

Now all we need is to see the War Doctor regenerate into 9.
ReplyDeleteWhat's the deal with "skipit?" The Video won't work unless you "sign in" and are charged for it. Not cool.
