You guys, I’m so happy with the episode, it was really amazing from the start to the end. It was action-packed and drama-filled. Let’s start with the most exciting part of the episode shall we?
You know me, I love gory stuff and this week’s call was filled with bloody limbs and dead bodies. 51 responded to a call where a train crashed into a building and several vehicles. One of the vehicles was a propane tank, so they had to rescue everyone before it blows up. Over a 100 people stuck in the train, 51 was the only firehouse who could rescue them because the other firehouses were either on another call or stationed at the opposite end of the city. It was all up to 51 to save the day. It was super intense. Against all odds, they did save the day, but not without several casualties.
I liked the scene where Chief Boden and Mills got stuck under a fallen ceiling and was having some bonding time. Mills revealed the real reason why he applied for the police academy. It’s not because of the rejection for squad, but because he’s pissed at the Chief. I’m glad the writers shed some light about this. All I was thinking when Mills decided to become a police officer was that he gave up because of one failure at the firehouse. Someone please enlighten me, Mills is pissed because Chief Boden and his mother had a relationship behind his father’s back right? I can’t quite remember the reason. Anyway, they had a little sharing session about their feelings and it was nice. Why can’t they talk to each other without a ceiling falling over their heads thinking they’re about to die?
In the beginning of the episode, we found out that Benny Severide have several spawns scattered all around the city. Why am I not surprised? What I’m surprised over is that he actually decided to turn down the Chief position at 51 and return to his family. Is that it? Is he never going to come back? It all just seemed so sudden to me.
And when I thought Shay’s spiral is coming to an end when she was struggling on the scene of the train wreck. I clearly thought that she’s decided to pull herself together to get some help, but I was wrong. She’s still going at it.
Guess what, Heather’s out of prison due to overcrowding! She and the kids are moving to Florida to start afresh, and Casey is not thrilled about it. He’s starting to get attached to the boys and liking the feeling of being a father. Does this means the Casey and Dawson train is finally moving forward?
I like that they are giving Clarke a storyline. He’s having problems with his marriage and I’m hoping we get to see more of it.
Chief Boden thought that he was going to have cancer, fortunately that wasn’t the case. The episode ends with Chief Boden launching into a speech about protecting his men and how he is not going to give up 51 without a fight. He was so intimidating and amazing that Gail McLeod and the other officers just sat there with their mouths shut as he walks out of the room.
