Arrow - Season 2 - Casting News - Katrina Law cast as Ra's al Ghul's Daughter

Spartacus alum Katrina Law has been tapped to play Ra's al Ghul's other progeny, Nyssa al Ghul, on Arrow, TVGuide.com has learned exclusively.

On The CW series, Nyssa is a powerful member of the League of Assassins who comes to Starling City in pursuit of The Canary (Caity Lotz).

In the comics, it's revealed that Ra's al Ghul had a love child while traveling through Russia, making Nyssa the half-sister of Talia al Ghul, whom Marion Cotillard portrayed in The Dark Knight Rises. With Nyssa coming to town, it may give some credence to a popular theory that Isabel Rochev (Summer Glau) is secretly Talia — or we could just be crazy!

Law will first appear in the 13th episode of Season 2, aptly titled "Heir to the Demon."

  3. I hadn't heard the theory about Isabel being Talia until now but I actually love it. This season has been even more exciting than the first.

  4. Well that dispells that speculation that Canary had Ra's al Ghul's baby.

  5. Love the episode title.

  6. CW shows are known for perfect casting and Arrow is no exception. I haven't seen any of Ms Law's work but by the looks of her, she seems to be a perfect choice. I can't believe we're only into 6 episodes in the season. So much seemed to have happened already. I can't wait for State v. Queen!

  7. Time to start watching this show then.

  8. Isabel Rochev is already a character in the comics. She's the Queen, a villain who loved Robert Queen and then took over Queen Industries. It would be really weird for them to make her an entirely different character too.

  9. I haven't really seen her in anything, so I can't judge her acting, but she looks like a good choice. Can't wait to see Nyssa!

  10. I like that Arrow is slowly becoming the home for former Spartacus actors. xD

  11. Nyssa is a powerful member of the League of Assassins who comes to Starling City in pursuit of The Canary --> yes, please: keep introducing characters who are doing that, because that means Sara is still around! :)

  12. We've already seen that twist in Christopher Nolan's directed "Dark Knight Rises" (2012); Marion Cotillard's character Miranda Tate was masquerading as a business woman (she took over Wayne Enterprises) and later revealed herself to be Talia al Ghul.

Anyone can see the similarity to Summer Glau's character Isabel Rochev, looking to take over Queen Industries.

Remember how Miranda hookep up with Bruce Wayne in "Dark Knight Rises". So if Oliver turn out to have an affair with Summer Glau' Isabel, we will take this as a further sign. Oh wait! (see screen capture below)

  13. My thoughts exactly!

That said, I love fan speculations and this is a good one. More, Arrow writers don't stick to the comic book characters.

  14. Should we just start calling Arrow 'Spartacus 2.0' at this point??

  15. Yep! Manu Bennett plays series regular Slade Wilson and Cynthia Addai-Robinson recently joined the cast as Amanda Waller.

Or Hallmark channel's 'Cedar Cove' 2.0, since both Teryl Rothery (who plays Moira's defender Jean Loring) and Dylan Neal (who plays Dr. Anthony Ivo) star in Hallmark Channel drama ;-)

  16. I love that they're bringing in the lesser known (to general audiences, myself included) sister. However, I really hate the idea that Isabel might turn out to be Talia...this show is already one massive "homage" (putting it lightly) to Nolan...they really don't need to ripoff the Miranda/Talia thing too.

  17. Isabel being Talia would be WAY too much like in Dark Knight Rises.
