Haha, as a Russian it's always funny to see scenes like that on TV... And come on, Arrow writers, do your research: there's a word in Russian for optimist, it's literally just 'optimist'! lol
I think thats what he meant, that there is no actual Russia translation for the word optimist because its just optimist, which is the same as the english version of the word.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

ReplyDeleteHe might meant that you don't have an own, russian word besides the one that's been used in several countries (the forms of optimism). :)
ReplyDeleteIt's like saying that English language doesn't have a word for a parachute, because 'parachute' is of French origin...
ReplyDeleteIs it a modern addition to the language like many computer words are appearing in other languages?
ReplyDeleteNope, have been around for ages..
ReplyDelete"Cauchemar" is the French word word "Nightmare".
ReplyDeleteOMG, it's Zelenka from Stargate Atlantis!!
ReplyDeleteFYI Gulag's not active since 1960s.
ReplyDeleteI'm not russian but still find funny to see scenes like that especially when they speak in russian language.
ReplyDeleteYep, Russian 'koshmar' (nightmare) is actually of French origin.
ReplyDeleteLooks great, interesting to see how they'll battle it out with the Russians :)
ReplyDeleteI think he was just talking in a gang way, in other words no joy.
