Arrow keeps going strong this season. More Diggle was one of the things on my wish list, so I am glad we got this Digg-cenric episode. I was completely shocked when he said Lila was his ex-wife, but in hindsight it makes sense. I also like that Slade and Shado are still alive although it feels like we're entering dangerous love triangle territory all over this episode. My favorite scene is Diggle seeing Deadshot. I was hoping he'd kill him at the end, but no such luck. All in all, a great episode where the hardest thing will be picking the best quote. There were so many to choose from this time.
Hard choice but the H.I.V.E. name drop got me super excited. The only other scene that got me anywhere near as excited was when Deadshot and Diggle fought guards together. I have this thing about enemies working together that makes me super giddy, especially if they do it well.
I really liked the whole escaping the prison with Deadshot part, I was like "wow". And I noticed how many great shots the episode had, and realized later it was Guy Bee directing, no wonder.
Called it on H.I.V.E last year... honestly! Regardless, cool stuff. We've got Brother Blood, H.I.V.E., Deathstroke and Roy. Wonder how many more Teen Titans aspects will we see?
Other -- Diggle and Lila get stopped breaking out of prison, and Oliver in a guard's uniform goes all kickass.
I also really liked the last scene between Oliver and Felicity, chiefly because of the way Stephen Amell sold Oliver's conflict and regret and hurting her. From that scene, I thought that Felicity is still in crush-mode, while Oliver is the one who is realizing there are deeper feelings on his side that he anticipated.
I used to be a Felicity/Oliver fan because I generally like girlfriends who are in on the action and know about the hero's secret identity. They are girls who aren't lied to (that's why I liked Lila better than Diggle's sister in law.) But everyone kept saying Felicity is friend zoned by the writers and they aren't planning anything between them. Even if that is true I think they built something last night. It was good to watch her stand up for herself and tell Ollie what she thought of his behavior. I loved it that she made it about him deserving someone better than Isabel, which is true. Ollie doesn't need pity sex, he needs someone who understands him and at this point, the only women I see who are capable of that are Felicity and Sara.
Side note: Amell must have taken some hardcore acting classes during the hiatus because he is killing those emotional expressions this season. Very well done.
haha "killing those emotional expressions this season". could not have said it better, I also found that funny :) But yes his acting has greatly improved!
My favorite scene was too Diggle and Deadshot. I liked the pact between them and they made Deadshot more human.
Regarding the island, I hope Sara and the Russian guy join Oliver when he returns to the island. The five of them together would make the island dynamics more interesting.
"Diggle tells Oliver and Felicity that Lila is his ex-wife" ... "Explain that sentence" made me lol haha and did Oliver know or he's just not suprised about anything anymore? All Team Arrow scenes were great! :)
It's not a whole scene, but the best bitchy line I thought was Isabel saying "Tell her she can have the night off" as she waltzes past Oliver and Felicity with her zipper still undone, clearly just having had sex with him and implying that there was no need for Felicity now.
Felicity Confronting Oliver. I also LOVED the H.I.V.E reference, i was so excited about that! And i loved when Felicity gave Diggle a kiss on the cheek to wish him luck. They really do have a brother/sister relationship. I love their scenes. They're fun to watch.
I liked whole ep but i think the first scene with Arrow,Roy and Diggle had a really cool comic book vibe about it and another cool trick arrow so thats mine
I got positively giddy over the mention of H.I.V.E. Especially given some of it's more familiar agents are characters that have already been mentioned and seen in the 'Arrow-verse'. Cannot wait to see how they clash with Oliver, given that.
I've been holding my breath against a love triangle. Please don't go there. (Though there's a small part of me that's waiting on a show to step out on a limb and have the center point of the triangle and say...'I pick you both. Let's work out a schedule.')
Loved the ep. Loved every thing about it. Thought the handling of Lawton. (knew Lawton was surviving. Digg doesn't execute. He kills in a fight.) It was a great way to get us started on the next arc villain story.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

ReplyDeleteAs always the best scenes have Felicity on it...
ReplyDeleteDiggle getting up in the bed shirtless

ReplyDeleteReally enjoyed this episode, some good setups. Saw the Oliver/Isabel thing happening a mile off.
ReplyDeleteI love the flashback stuff so I was happy to see more. I was a bit wrong on Slade.. thought he might be damaged in one eye but not yet.
Guy Bee is a personal favorite of mine too. He really gets genre shows.

ReplyDeleteOliver did a background check on Diggle before telling him his secret, so I think he knew.
ReplyDeleteoh that makes sense!

ReplyDeleteHe is good but my favourite is Glen Winter his direction is so different and calculated
