  1. "Josh Blacker as The Bishop aka Maxwell"

Ha! I think Josh Blacker was in a episode of Fringe. Jane McGregor was also in Fringe "Wallflower". Wow and so was Mark Acheson

Sounds cool thought. Wonder what "the bends" will be like?

  2. so... it has been switched with 'Blood Brothers'?

  3. Benito Martinez! Yay.

  5. I saw Lou (I think) point out that yesterday's Episode 1x02 Skins was moved from its original spot in the season as well? If true do you have a source?

I hate to think of FOX shifting episodes around so early in a new series.

  6. Yep that was indeed the case. They seem to be moving the episodes around quite a bit. I'll try to find the episode numbers

  7. Wow that's crazy! At first I thought it was me getting episode numbers mixed up! I hope they're episodes that don't matter that much...

    Me too :(

  9. It really feels like Firefly all over again.

The pilot was too "dark humorless" so they aired a more humor and action filled episode as the pilot instead. Well with this we had the dark and colorless pilot airing, bt it was followed by a more humorous episode that really introduced the possible love interest of Stahl to Kennex.

Instead of letting the series evolve how the showrunner and writers intended FOX seems to be establishing their desired aspects ASAP. ACK!

  10. While I have to say I dislike it a LOT when networks change the order of episodes, isn't it possible they were filmed out of intended airing sequence? That can happen a lot. I forget which show it was but a couple seasons ago people were freaked because of the order of the episodes but it turned out it was airing in the order it was written, not filmed, and it was either FOX or ABC I think... hm, now that's going to drive me crazy.

"Skin" didn't seem to have any missing elements, it was mostly a stand-alone case. So in that regard, it doesn't matter which order they're airing in but I was really hoping this show would have character arcs from episode to episode to make it feel less procedural-ish. Still, I loved episode two so I'm hoping the show won't let me down.

  11. Perfect comparison! Sigh!

  12. I wondered the same thing too and I know shows do film out of order occasionally due to guest star availability windows.

However, I have read 3 or 4 different people comment on order changes on a few different sites. No one has provided source material though or an original episode schedule to compare to so who knows.

  13. They unintentionally sabotage huh?

I haven't had much experience with Fox until 2 years ago when I got cable and therefore the channel (satellite doesn't seem to have Fox in the main channels).

Since then I've watched Terra Nova, The Following, Sleepy Hollow, and now this show.

  14. Does the production code hint at when it was filmed because here the production codes are in order: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Almost_Human_(TV_series)#Episodes

  15. Yeah, they have a pattern of tweaking shows from the showrunner's original idea. I think most networks do that honestly, but in the case if Firefly it was a travesty.

The showrunner intended 2-hour pilot gave the full back story to the world and the characters and the pilot v2.0 was more of a fun-filled action stand-alone episode. So then by the time they aired what should have been the pilot it was the tenth an eleventh episode (I think?) of the series and just did not fit in that location...Plus airing it then made all of the earlier episodes harder to follow without the proper set up the 2-hour pilot was supposed to establish.

On top of that FOX promoted the show as an Action/ Comedy and it was not really an action series or a comedy despite having elements of both. It was more a Sci-Fi character study.

  16. I think it probably does yeah, Skin being the intended episode 5 and so on.. I'm not sure though.

It would fit FOX's usual MO though....
Moving back the intended Episodes 2-4 which may be higher in serialized elements and moving forward later episodes that have more of an easy-to-follow case of the week formula in an attempt to draw in viewers.

  17. Moving that episode though could have messed up the writers character plot.

  18. Another possible reason for the network to shift the order I thought of later is counter-intuitive to me but....

Maybe the network wanted to establish Kennex's ex as part of Insyndicate or at least there when he was shot.

It could be that the original episodes 2-4 did not have Kennex's memories progressing fast enough for the network, so they moved the episode with the first real clear memory forward to establish that arc better.

    Maybe? Maybe not?
    *Shrug*

  19. I know. A lot to soak in.

But I feel like I've been and loved being spoiled. Seeing 2 episodes in a row is going to make the wait for the new episode that much longer though.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Exactly. I feel like they were already pretty much settled into being a team and John already knows when Dorian is upset. Knows what the quietness means. He seems to acknowledge Dorians feelings more than I'd expect him to in the 2nd episode.

On top of that, I feel like the case of the week wasn't a second episode type one. I don't know if it was just me.

  21. Here are the original Episode Numbers

    101 Pilot
    105 Skin
    106 Are you Receiving
108 Blood Brothers (now replaced by 107 Then Bends)

So no idea where 102, 103 and 104 are.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Thanks! I guess I'll just hope that it's for the best.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Ow, why move it that much Fox?

I've only paid attention before to Supernatural (CW) episode changes as that show I look at spoilers the most for. They move a couple or so episodes around but not that much.

I wonder if maybe they're saving 2, 3, and 4 for mid season or something.

Seeing that really concerns me about the character arch. It's okay later in the season to change episodes around but early in the season when characters are getting to know each other, settle into roles etc., it can be rough to put that later in the season in less they do some good editing.

I knew Skin was more like a middle episode than a second episode.

Glad they put #7 back in front of #8 at least.

I'm so watching the episodes in order when the first season comes out to see how it flows.
