NATALIE CHAIDEZ IS EXECUTIVE PRODUCER/SHOWRUNNER AND JEFFREY REINER TO DIRECT PILOT AND SERVE AS EXECUTIVE PRODUCER
NEW YORK – November 4, 2013 – Syfy’s pilot 12 Monkeys has cast Aaron Stanford and Amanda Schull in the project’s two lead roles. Also joining in key positions behind the camera are Natalie Chaidez (In Plain Sight, V, Heroes) as Executive Producer/Showrunner and Jeffrey Reiner (Helix, Friday Night Lights, Caprica) who will direct the pilot and also serve as Executive Producer.
The 60-minute pilot is being produced by Universal Cable Productions and Atlas Entertainment, producer of the original Bruce Willis-Brad Pitt theatrical directed by Terry Gilliam and released by Universal Pictures. Production is slated to begin in December in Detroit.
Based on the classic hit film, 12 Monkeys follows the journey of a time traveler from the post-apocalyptic future who appears in present day on a mission to locate and eradicate the source of a deadly plague that will eventually decimate the human race.
Aaron Stanford (Nikita, X-Men: The Last Stand, X2) will play "Cole," a desperate and haunted man from the near future, who travels to the present day to stop a deadly plague from being released on the world.
Amanda Schull (Suits, Pretty Little Liars, Center Stage) will play "Cassandra Railly," a brilliant doctor who is forced to choose between her idyllic life or joining Cole’s mission to uncover the dangerous conspiracy.
Terry Matalas & Travis Fickett (Terra Nova, Nikita) wrote the pilot script and are Co-Executive Producers. Atlas Entertainment’s Charles Roven (American Hustle, Man of Steel, The Dark Knight Trilogy) and Richard Suckle (American Hustle, The International), will Executive Produce. Roven produced the original film.

Guess I'm going to have to watch 12 Monkeys now - I just love Birkhoff (Aaron)!
ReplyDeleteHa, Birkhoff and Naomi (3x11) team up!
ReplyDeleteThe Nikita cast is quickly finding new gigs, which makes me happy - Lyndie, Noah, Shane, Maggie and now Aaron are booked. They're such a talented bunch, I wish them well.
yeah ! Nikita's cast is great to gets new roles. Just miss Lyndsy ! Hope see her in a new (lead) role quicky.
ReplyDeleteLooks Promissing
ReplyDeleteWell he certainly has the haunted look down.
ReplyDeleteSo unnecessary...
ReplyDeleteI'd love a good time-travel tv show, but leave alone the movie. Change it enough and rename it.
What is Maggie doing? Is it just Divergent?
ReplyDeleteThere was an idea floating around that she should be the next Lara Croft. That would be so awesome. She has the looks, the steely intensity and the action experience.
ReplyDeleteShe was very recently cast in another movie: http://variety.com/2013/film/news/frank-grillo-jekyll-island-minnie-driver-1200775773/
ReplyDeleteI see, thank you! I wish she could be a lead for another series again, I'll miss her!
ReplyDeleteI'll give it a go.I've yet to watch the movie w/o turning it off...
ReplyDeleteOh well, there goes Louis Litt's sidekick on Suits. It was getting good too!
This would be awesome^^
ReplyDeletewhat is the rest of the cast doing? i haven't heard! :O
ReplyDeleteWell, now I'm definitely giving it a try. It's sad that the Nikita cast are moving on, but I want them all to do well (and be in shows/movies I'll actually wanna watch).
ReplyDeleteI know, right? Just not on The CW... :) unfortunately, I think she's unlikely to do TV again any time soon. Nikita was her first TV gig, and I believe she said in an interview that she prefers to do movies because TV comes with such an exhausting schedule.
ReplyDeleteLet's see:
ReplyDeleteLyndie (Sonya) has, or had, a recurring role on Sleepy Hollow. I haven't watched that show yet so I don't know if she's still on, and if so for how long.
Maggie, apart from hopefully being part of a successful Divergent franchise, just booked another movie - see my reply to Eve above.
Noah will have a recurring role on Gang Related, an upcoming FOX show.
Shane will be a lead in Salem, a show about the witch trials, on some obscure channel (WGN America). And believe it or not - so will Xander a.k.a. Percy! :)
So it's just Lyndsy, Devon and Melinda who we're waiting to hear about.
One day, we should totally do a Kickstarter to get a Nikita movie made. Just imagine the action and stunts they could pull off on a higher budget.
ReplyDeleteI like the movie. It's probably my favorite from TG, but I can understand someone not being able to get into it. Depending on the production values and how "modernized" they're going to make the characters, might I check it out. It has a good premise, but I'm not sure how'll they'll be able to make it work as a series without doing some major revisions and expanding on the whole story...But I'm glad for the Nikkita peeps to have actors they cherish back on TV.
ReplyDeleteWow, that would be awesome. But first we need to see how they end these 6 episodes...
ReplyDeleteYes i love Aaron Stanford he's my favourite character in Nikita and Amanda Schull from OTH.
ReplyDeleteI didn't even get the chance to decide i didn't like it.I was lost within the first 15 minutes of the movie.I didn't know what was going on,that' s why i stopped. But i'm willing to try again!
ReplyDeleteomg i'm so excited! :3 thanks for taking time to answer, i'm planning to watch Sleepy Hollow at some point and Shane's looks interesting! ugh i hope i can watch them all but too many shows already lol
