Looks like a bit of a spell was cast by Lifetime’s newest drama last night. With 1.9 million total viewers watching, the supernatural series Witches Of East End debuted Sunday. It was just down a touch from 2 million who tuned in for the June 23 premiere of Lifetime’s last soap Devious Maids. However, the Fox 21 series starring Julia Ormond, Jenna Dewan-Tatum, Rachel Boston and Mädchen Amick was up in the key demos over the Marc Cherry-created Maids’ Sunday night summer debut. Witches drew 905,000 viewers among adults 18-49, 916,000 among adults 25-54, 718,000 among women 25-54 and 686,000 viewers among women 18-49. That’s up 10% over Maids in 18-49, 6% over 25-54 and 8% in women 18-49 25-54. The one-hour Witches is set to run for 10 episodes this fall. Like Devious Maids, Witches was down from the 2.8 million that watched the debut of Lifetime’s previous scripted premiere, The Client List, in April 2012.
