I'm not sure I want him with Felicity...only if the writers decide to give them a healthy and happy relationship. I don't want him with Laurel, though. So I went with "other" for now.
I don't think Oliver would want a romantic relationship with Felicity. He wouldn't want a romantic relationship with one of his team members cloud his decision making. He's already sort of made that mistake with Laurel. I'd be quite happy if Ollie didn't have a relationship with anyone for awhile. If he does decide to get back with Laurel I'm not complaining, they just need to try and have a normal-ish relationship. My best guess is it's probably someone we haven't seen yet.
I think that if the writers continue what they are doing with Laurel then definitely Felicity or someone else. I am a canon shipper but I really really do want them to make Laurel a gazillion times better then she is because she is just annoying right now. And I'm not so sure that it is all of Katie Cassidy's fault...
Why is this the biggest question ? Shouldn't there rather be a 'who do you think is the real villain of season 2' or a 'wich enemy do you think will hit Oliver where it hurts him most' poll instead of a shipping oriented one ?
Arrow is the last show that should be consumed by shippers :(
I love Felicity as a character, she is all sorts of awesome but I don't want them to ruin her relationship with Oliver by having them be in a relationship. As strangely written as their relationship often is, I still think he should end up with Laurell.
Oliver should end up with whomever ends up being the real "Black Canary" period. End of story. By all accounts it should be Laurel in order to stay true to comic book canon; which ultimately should be the final word on where a DC Comics character's story should go.
For me, Other - Shado. I like the chemistry between them in the flashbacks, their scenes are playful but carry emotional weight and substance as well. I hope she turns out to still be alive in the present, and joins the fray (not holding my breath though). I'd be okay with an Oliver/Felicity pairing, but I think they work better as platonic friends. I don't get the romantic vibe from them. As for Laurel, not only do I dislike her, but I've never felt any chemistry between she and Ollie. It's totally forced. Moreover, I know Laurel realizes that he's changed and isn't the same guy who cheated on her with her own sister, but I still think the past taints their relationship. If Oliver hadn't taken Sara on the boat, she'd still be alive. That's always going to hang over them in a sense, regardless of Laurel moving on from blaming him for everything.
I'm the first person to complain about shipping and how ship wars and romance take over TV shows (especially shows like this that are supposed to be about something else), but it's not like the poll creator stated that was it's the most important question. They just brought it up.
This. Felicity is such a great character, so why exactly does she have to end up with Oliver? Must every character relationship also be a sexual or romantic one? She really strikes as being more like Chloe Sullivan from Smallville, ie the friend and sidekick, not the love interest.
If you're familiar with Shado in the comics, you may not be rooting for her and Oliver for very long. Even if she's dead in the present, island scenes might get VERY weird.
It's funny how many people don't realize that Laurel is the Lois of Arrow, not the Lana. The Olicity fans smack of Chlark fans, right down to the attacking of other female characters because they can't figure out that you can like more than one female character at a time.
ok so it does have differences with the comics but if it's about whom he ends up with, won't they follow the comics story? they usually do (eg smallvile: there were lots of characters and story arcs but then they introduced lois lane...)
Now I love Felicity but I really don't get that vibe from them (and I was a Chlark fan all the way in Smallville). Plus I think Felicity can do better, . I voted for Laurel but that's not the important bit about the ending. I wouldn't even care that much if he ended up with Diggle. I think it needs to (similarish to The Dark Knight Rises) end with him faking his death after his identity has been exposed but knowing that he has inspired a new generation of heroes that can look after the city better than him.
I'm starting to think that Olicity fans lack the capacity to really see anything outside of their ship and feel threatened by Laurel to the point where they need to bully and abuse the actress as well. 90% of the Olicity fans disgust me with the way that they need to attack Laurel and Katie for no apparent reason. If you look at Arrow's facebook page and click anything that has to do with Laurel/Katie, it's Olicity fans talking smack about Laurel or Katie, even blaming it on Katie's acting like they belong to the Hollywood Foreign Press or something. Their constant need to trash anything Laurel or Katie (even though it has nothing to do with their beloved Felicity) makes it almost unbearable to enjoy anything Arrow.
Don't really care a ton, but if I had to... Felicity. I know Dinah Laurel Lance marries him in the comics and is his one true love blah, blah, blah... but I really dislike Laurel.
It doesn't matter...he cheated on her with HER OWN SISTER. Cheating in itself is bad enough, but to do it with her sister shows a level of disrespect for her feelings which shows clearly that the so called romance is just a pipe-dream. I don't know what the writers were thinking when they added that to their backstory, but now that it's there, it made the pairing impossible forever for me (never mind all the other baggage connecting with it). And no, I am not an Olicity Fan, I like Felicity way too much to see her character destroyed in what the writers consider a compelling romantic subplot.
I just genuinely love Arrow and Felicity Smoak.. of course I want Oliver to be with Felicity, because I believe she can really make him happy, and Felicity can see the real Oliver while others fail to see the real him (well except for Diggle, but he's a man and I always think him as a very brotherly type, he need matured woman on his side, I miss Carly).. I always appreciate slowburn, so it is really good that they start it with little affectionate things.. The beginning of the development and the dynamic is there (Stephen and Emily do have crazy chemistry), looking forward to see it more explored and then other crazy and kick-ass stuffs as well.. really like this show...
And why is it consumed y shippers exactly? Because stuff like this stupid poll. As long as there are people and articles and all kinds of stuff encouraging shippers it will always be the focus.
Definitely not Laurel. She just gets on my nerves!! Depending on how they portray BC (who is Sara, right? I read the casting info correctly?) I would like to see him with her, sticking to the comics and all. But as much as I love Felicity and her scenes with Oliver, I don't know if I'd go love interest. I'm with you, Dylan, in that they have a more 'very close friendship' relationship, or maybe even sisterly. But I guess we'll just have to see!!
Oh right, I forgot Sara will turn out to be alive. That does make things a little better, but still, these two don't feel "right" as a couple to me. Their kiss/sex scenes have felt downright awkward to me. And Laurel is really nothing more than this show's Lana Lang/Elena Gilbert/Kate Austen/Joey Potter etc: the blandly perfect girl-next-door who we keep getting told is the kindest, loveliest person ever, while her actions on screen indicate otherwise. Until the writers flesh her out a lot more - starting with an actual personality beyond self-righetousness - there's no appeal to her character.
Laurel is not the Lois Lane of Arrow. In the comics, Oliver and Laurel divorce so what's the point? And I don't think anybody was mad because Oliver Queen ends up with Chloe and not with Laurel in Smallville.
And the writers need to tell THEIR story not the comics' one. The comics are one thing. The show has characters who interact in front of us not on a piece of paper. Chemistry is important. I dare to say, chemistry is everything because it keeps the viewer connected to the show. Oliver and Felicity have good chemistry and they work well on screen together. That's it.
Well then you seem to be unaware of what is going on with the writers. The writers have stated MANY times that they are drawing their inspiration from a series in which Arrow ends up with Black Canary.
Exactly. Shipping should be the LAST thing on a producer's and a writers mind. The important thing is the story. Not who Oliver is going to end up with. Especially some ditzy blonde chick who's pretty much destined to be friendzoned.
It's still a stupid question and a ridiculous poll. Even you said the show is supposed to be about something else. Luckily for us, it seems like shipping is the LAST thing on the minds of the producers and the writers. As it should be,.
Well to be fair Laurel is the main female cast member of the show. So people are going to hate her no matter what since it seems to be a stupid fad to go for the secondary leading lady. No matter cliched Felicity is herself. Having said that, there is supposed to be an awkward chemistry between them seeing as how she hasn't reached her role yet. We all know she's destined to become Black Canary and that she is to be paired with Green Arrow. Not yet at least but eventually that will probably go that route. You can't have a character named Dinah Laurel Lance and NOT have her become who she is destined to become. That would be like having peter parker in a marvel medium and NOT turning him into Spider-man.
First off, Joey Potter was never seen as the perfect girl. That was the blonde girl in Dawson's Creek. Dawson's first love interest. If anything Joey was the "realization" in the end. Second, like I said before laurel lance is supposed to be seen as that. She's the main character so she's supposed to be seen as overly nice and superfluously perfect. I agree she's pretty generic but how is she any more appealing that Felicity Smoak who's pretty much the same generic socially awkward pretty cute blonde girl who follows the main hero around like some love sick puppy? She's the Chloe Sullivan, Xander Harris, and any other awkward socially inept character that appeals to the angsty tumblr users of today's society.
PS: Laurel Lance may not be a fleshed character at the moment but her personality is anything BUT self righteous. self righteous people don't risk their lives in the Glades and CNRI to get files to help people. I'm not say I disagree with the other parts of your post, but this part of it is inaccurate.
No the majority of the fans DON'T want that. The Majority of the fans don't care for shipping. They want to watch and enjoy the show whatever it may bring. Shippers don't matter. They never did and they never will. Rightfully so.
Yes she is. She's been Oliver's main love interest for ages and in almost every medium in which he's the main character so yeah. She is the Lois lane of arrow. And yeah Oliver Queen ended up with Chloe Sullivan in smallville what's your point? Because he ended up with chloe he's going to end up with felicity in the end of this show? That's the worst logic out there.
And you forget the fact that arrow is supposed to be a different story from smallville. The writers even stated that they are staying away from anything related to smallville.
And the writers need to tell THEIR story not the comics' one.
None the less the writers are still drawing inspiration from the source material. Source material in which laurel and Oliver and the main pairing. Not to mention as I stated before they are tying to stay away from smallville's version of green arrow. So having him pair up with a geeky nerdy smart blond who's good with computers is probably not gonna happen since smallville kinda beat them too that.
And you're wrong. "Chemistry" is not the only important thing. The story is. And the majority of people who watch arrow don't watch this show to see Oliver Queen get with an annoying ditzy blonde girl. They watch the show to see how he becomes green arrow. Also aren't YOU telling the writers to NOT tell their own story by insisting that Oliver and Felicity should be the one and only OTP? Newsflash little ignorant girl. CHEMISTRY is not what's the most important thing. It's not even what keeps viewers connected to the show. STORY PROGRESSION is. How Oliver Queen becomes Green Arrow and how Laurel Lance becomes Black Canary. You're ridiculous. Utterly and pathetically ridiculous.
Simply put, shippers don't make up a huge majority of the audience, hence they don't matter.
Well then you're gonna be disappointed because Sara is NOT Black Canary. She's Canary. Thats all. She hasn't been referred to as Black Canary because that Mantel is for Laurel in the future. But she still has to BECOME Laurel. Frankly put you sound utterly stupid and asinine with this logic of yours.
As friends though. They're not relationship material and the writers want to get that clear to the mass majority of idiots hounding them to put Oliver Queen with a Chloe Sullivan wannabe. If you want to see Oliver Queen get with a stupid blonde character who's annoyingly geeky, we already have something like that. It's called Smallville. This isn't Smallville. This is arrow sucker. Get over it.
I ship neither O/L nor O/F, but there's no need to collectively attack everyone who dislikes Laurel. I don't like her or Katie's performance in most scenes, but it's not at all because I can't like more than one female character. I like Felicity, Moira, Shado, China White and from the looks of it Black Canary. So while some people may be against Laurel because they ship O/F, it's certainly not the only reason. Others simply find her to be a poorly written character in her own right and regardless oh shipping.
I ship Olicity but that doesn't mean I think that Katie Cassidy is a bad actress I like her I think the character of Laurel Lance is a terrible waste of screen time but that's not Katie's fault.
It honestly makes me laugh when I read the hilariously stupid drivel that comes out of the mouths of some of the "Olicity" shippers. I take it that you guys are probably pretty young, naive and generally mentally inept when it comes to common sense so I'm gonna let you guys in on a little secret here. Shippers like you don't matter. You never mattered to the producers and to the writers of TV shows like Arrow. You know why? Because pairing characters up with other characters does NOT make for good television. It doesn't even make for a good story. It's only there to serve fan service to the annoyingly persistent shipping community that doesn't even make up a VAST majority of Arrow's fanbase.
And to prove my point let me bring up an example. Glee. Fox's probably most popular show out there is riddled with ships and ship wars. One of the most popular pairing is a non canon pairing called Faberry. Which pairs Quinn Fabray and Rachery Berry together in a romantic setting. You know how many times they got together? None. Zilch. Zero. And they're a pairing that can rival against even Finchel. The main ship of the show.
Rizzles is another pairing from Rizzoli and Isles. In fact it's the most popular pairing in that fandom period. They're not canon and chances are, they never will be.
The point I am trying to make is that ships don't make for good television and you guys are probably the furtherest thing from the minds of the writers.
Oh yes, you heard me right. Shippers do NOT make up the majority of Arrow's fanbase. In fact if anything Arrow fans actually WANT to see Laurel Lance become Black Canary and eventually end up with Oliver Queen AS green Arrow in the end. Because even though this IS a show and it's supposed to be different, none the less this is a show with inspiration from the source material. And in this case it's a particular story line in which Green Arrow and Black Canary (Laura Lance Version) does end up together and even get married. So if anything, I'm pretty sure the MAJORITY of Arrow fans wants to see that since it is a comic book adaptation and there needs to be some faithfulness to it.
No but you're still bias viewer who knows nothing about good TV. If there was no Laurel Lance then there's no reason for Oliver Queen to go back. Even the writers themselves say that she was the main catylst for his return. If anyone is a waste of screen time it's the ditzy blonde bimbo who honestly has no place in the Arrow verse. Seriously she's part of a completely different comic series.
No but it seems to be the majority reason. And a stupid one at that. I mean it's completely asinine and folly to attack an actress because you like one character better. Having said that I also think people on the internet these days are incredibly impatient and they can't seem understand that roles like these takes TIME to develop before they come into full fruition. And to be fair, neither of the actresses are decent. At least Katie Cassidy has shown she servers her purpose. What purpose does Felicity Smoak serve other than banal comic relief that can be replaced with any other stock character?
Excuse me? There's no reason to be calling names and to be so snippy. We all have our own opinions and this happens to be mine. But thank you for the info about Sara, Laurel, and the (Black) Canary.
Don't worry, this person is just a troll that goes by many names here, but it's not too hard to recognize because the writing is the same. And the arrogancy gives it away as well. Oh, and the head up the ass and the butthurt over people who don't like Laurel, because they apparently are obliged to.
Lol, it's cute that you think shipping polls matter. How many people voted so far? A thousand or so? How many viewers do you think Arrow Averages per episode? More than a thousand last time I checked.
I just told you who I was so why do you think I am hiding anything? Are you always this clueless when you post or are you purposely trying hard to sound like someone who is generally ignorant? Congratulations to you on stating the obvious.
PS: I like how you tell this person to ignore me when you yourself have given me three responses. I would criticize you for your ignorance, but that's honestly what makes you so entertaining. :)
Again thank you for proving my point that shippers don't matter to the writers.
I am posting as myself you idiot. I thought it was pretty obvious since I'm clearly the same person in this picture as I am in my tumblr avatar. I thought you were smart enough to see the obvious. I guess I underestimated your ignorance.
This poll only has a thousand or so votes total. Last I checked there were more than a thousand viewers who watches this show. Like I said, you guys are not the majority of this fanbase.
You're right we do have our opinions. And my opinion is that you're clearly uninformed about what's happening. So I'm going to TELL you that you are uninformed and state that your logic is kind of silly.
One person lol. Have you gone on the facebook page? It's all full of people who ship Olicity that need an excuse to hate on Laurel. Half the plots in the first season (i.e. Tommy feeling insecure about his relationship with Laurel and Oliver's eventual transformation that hey killing is bad) would not have worked without Laurel so I don't know where "waste of screen time is". Despite the comics and show being different, they got the rights and story from the comics. I'm pretty sure when they were making this they intended to also target comic book fans. Green Arrow has always been associated with Laurel and the Black Canary. Calling Laurel a waste of screen time would just pretty much make Arrow the "Felicity making overused inappropriate comments at inappropriate times" show.
Not to mention the fact that chemistry is such a subjective thing. Obviously Katie and Stephen don't have the same chemistry that Stephen and Emily do. Laurel and Oliver's story has so much sadness and intense history in there, but you can see how much Oliver still loves Laurel. When they were making you there's so much intensity there but people like to disregard that. To me, Oliver and Felicity don't have the type of chemistry to carry on a romantic relationship considering half the time he's either thinking about Laurel, how to stop the bad guy or family problems whenever Felicity is around. To me, Felicity's the one carrying most of the torch with her schoolgirl crush on Oliver.
People completely disregard the fact that Oliver has admitted to Laurel so many times that she sees the good in him and that she sees that he's hiding something from everyone. No shit Felicity sees the real Oliver, Laurel isn't privy to what Felicity knows. Every time Laurel and Oliver gets close, he's always pulling away because of his secret identity. So yeah Felicity sees the real Oliver because she knows Oliver's secret. If Laurel knew his secret, she'd fully understand him too.
Flesh her out more. That's a laugh considering there are so many sides to Laurel and you can clearly see the character development in her but then when you look at someone like Felicity, she's so one-sided it's a joke. All the main female characters have had more character development than Felicity.
In all honesty I don't watch this show for who ends up with Oliver. Thats the last thing in my mind. I watch this show for the fact that I am interested in see how Oliver Queen transforms into Green Arrow. And I won't lie I want to see how Laurel Lance takes on the role of Black Canary in the future. Again having a character named Laural Lance and not making her Black Canary is stupid. And since this is following a story line in which the two eventually come together to fight crime as partners AND Lovers (thats my appeal to them). But if they put him with someone else, I'm ok with that. Just as long as it's not some geeky love sick puppy who follows him around like an annoying teenager.
That I would have to agree with. I think she needs to have more embelishment since she is going to become Black Canary in the future. Having said that I don't expect her to wake up one day and say I'm Black Canary.
Agreed! There are so many interesting aspects about Arrow that it is frustrating when shipping drowns out all other conversation. In the end I don't care who Oliver gets with. Just leave it until the series finale and let's get the focus back on the story.
Yes! Exactly! Which is what I keep telling everyone. Most people don't watch shows for ships. They watch them FOR the shows. These are just an afterthought. And a lame one at that.
I wish I could agree with you but I think the writers and producers have been guilty at times to pandering to certain 'ships. I do like how they have not let it overwhelm the story though. I hope they continue in this vein.
He he he. I'm sorry sweetie, I still can't help but laugh at the fact that you think Shipping polls matter. They don't. They never did and this poll won't change the minds of the writers or producers.
I could not agree with you anymore. Shipping is completely irrelevant when it comes to TV shows. Like I keep telling everyone. Shippers don't matter in the long run because the show creators will tell whatever story they want. Without the pursuasion of irate oversensitive shippers.
I don't see fan pandering as something that's giving them exactly what they want. Which is what I want them to avoid. And so far it seems like they are doing a good job of caving into these psychotic and hormonally unbalanced felicity/oliver freaks. But you're right not having it overwhelm the story is a good thing. Cause if that wasn't the case, then Supernatural would be littered with Destiel references.
You have now insulted almost everyone who has posted here. I don't want Iliver and Felicity or Olvier and Laurel together but insulting everyone else will only get you banned from SpoilerTV. Make your point but stop attacking people.
Eh I could care less If I'm banned honestly. It's not like I spend most of my time here. Also I haven't insulted everyone. Only the hardcore shipping nut jobs.
SpoilerTV has a no name-calling policy. This does not help your case at all and ends up making you look bad, not others. Try explaining your stance without insulting others. This does nothing to encourage conversation. I completely disagree with this comment as well. There are many other options for Oliver besides Felicity or Laurel. Personally I hope he never gets in a long-term relationship on Arrow and they leave that to his future.
Then care that you are coming off as a psychotic douche, worse than the people you are insulting. No one will take your opinion seriously if you cannot frame an argument without being offensive about it.
Mmm maybe just a regular douche. Beside all I said was that she sounded ridiculous. Well I said something worse but I felt bad so I changed it. See? I'm not a bad guy! ;-D
Let me ask you guys something. How many people do you guys honestly think ship this particular pairing of Felicity and Oliver together? Never mind the fact that shippers in general are pretty small compared to the overall audience members but how many of these shippers do you think are out there? Combined the number of people who ship this pairing as well as the others, I'd say maybe a little less than a thousand right? Maybe around 1100 on a good day. And I am taking into account tumblr accounts, likes on facebooks and twitter followers, I'd say maybe a little the number I formulated. On a good day right? How many viewers do you think Average Arrow on a per episode basis? Between 2.5 and 3 million judging from what I've looked up. So out of that 1100 (give or take) people who ship this pairing. So when I say that you guys don't hold any real power I say that not to be mean but because it's true. Your numbers are small compared to the people who actually tune into the show.
What does this poll have to do with the majority of the people who watch this show? It's a pretty well known fact that shippers don't make up the majority of the people who watch television shows. In fact a lot of people here already stated that they don't really watch tv shows for their favorite pairings. I sincerely doubt that this poll is an accurate representation of who watches Arrow. Maybe the shipping community but not the fanbase as a whole.
I wouldn't say that...The Neal/Sara ship at White Collar for example wasn't exactly popular either...half of the fans liked it, the other half hated it (there was no real alternative, though...similar to Oliver/Laurel it was simply a pairing which didn't really click). Three guesses which character was demoted from regular to recurring the following season and is apparently written out of the show altogether by now. The writers and producers do pay attention to trends...my guess it that at this point, they will try a overhaul for Laurel, perhaps bank on the audience changing its mind eventually.
It's an adaption of a comic book, it doesn't have to follow it exactly. Also I never said I was routing for them or ship them, frankly I don't give a damn if Olicity ever happens, I just mentioned my seething hatred of Laurel.
Well Laurel seems logically right according to the storylines. In my mind that would not match with Felicity according the storylines because it has always been about Laurel. Laurel is not bad I think there's a lot more we can see of her. He is probably going to have other relationships but not to Felicity and its probably going to take next season for Laurel to know the truth.
I'm not a shipper. I like Felicity and Oliver as friends and if the writers go to the romantic road with them, I just hope it's done the right way. Just like if they want to do it with Laurel, anyone else or nobody at all. I confess I like a good love story, but I like more a GOOD story, period. Arrow the TV show is, I quote "based on the characters published by DC COMICS". It isn't a literal adaptation, like Game of Thrones is to A Song of Fire and Ice, but more like a rewrite, as Nolan's Batman. So they don't need to go canon, they could turn Laurel a villain if they want, and let Oliver kill her (I know this is not going to happen, just an example). I liked Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle running away together in The Dark Knight Rise; Batman and Catwoman finally together in the end! That was for me the great final touch, but not the highlight of the story. Just like I'd like Oliver finding real love in the end of his story, but just like a final touch. In the meantime, I hope the story could spare us the drama teen CW is so fond of and focus in all action and adventure, and that they do it in the right way.
Sorry for the speech, and my grammar mistakes (my mother tongue is Spanish)
If you disagree with me, that's your prerogative, but why don't you elaborate? Claiming Laurel is complex and Felicity isn't while offering no explanation as to WHY you feel that way doesn't contribute much to the discussion.
Amen. This person doesn't appear to have anything better to do with their time than respond to EVERY SINGLE COMMENT criticizing Laurel and read whoever made it the riot act. Hope he/she gets banned quickly.
What about people who aren't on the internet and watch Arrow without being in the fandom? There are thousand of those and how do you know they don't enjoy Oliver/Felicity? Just because they don't express their opinions on the internet it doesn't mean they don't exist. Writers and especially producers consider fans on the internet as a small sample of viewers' opinions. This and many other polls (es. pca) say about 70% of viewers like felicity and oliver together and this is reflected upon all the viewers who watches Arrow and don't partecipate in message boards or tumblr or polls. This is how producers see what fans like or don't like. Do you think they'd promote Oliver/Felicity or Felicity in general so much (like they've been doing) if they thought only 960 people liked them? AH!!!
That is what they say, but they show something totally different. For example, Laurel keeps calling Oliver "Ollie" (makes me cringe every time). But "Ollie" doesn't really exist anymore and hasn't for a long time. He died somewhere on the island. Oliver might cling to Laurel because he clung on her picture while he was away and because he doesn't want to loose the boy he once was, but that is not healthy at all. And if Laurel really were as good in reading Oliver and seeing "the good in him" as he said, she would realize that his behaviour is just a mask. But everyone in the show, even people who don't know his secret, are better in reading him than she is.
That's a good point, ultimately love interests just end up being excess baggage on a show like this. I did state that of the existing options, I like him the best with Shado, but it would be best to just keep the romance to a minimum. It's a distraction, that I frankly think only exists on shows of this nature because of the stereotypical belief that romance draws in the female demo.
I understand why many like to stick to the Oliver and Laurel plotline because of the chemistry they had and the prewritten future in the comic books, but nevertheless the little chemistry they had in the beginning, I believed, died the same time Tommy did. Laurel doesn’t bring much to the romantic story line however is a great character for the darker side, and I believe it would be interesting to watch her, if it happens, become Black Canary. I do believe that Oliver and Felicity have chemistry, but whether or not that will be played upon is hard to tell at this time in the series. I think the main reason that I myself, and probably many others seem to like them as a couple is because she’s a smart and light hearted character, and she is the only one who can really make him laugh. Laurel isn’t quite like that. I think that if Oliver was to be with anyone then it should be Felicity or a character we have yet to see, because it is only a season and a half into the show and if the majority of the audience are already fed up with the Laurel/Oliver plotline, it shows that clearly it isn’t getting anywhere that the viewers would want.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Either Felicity or someone else we haven't met yet but not Sara nor Laurel please.
ReplyDeleteIn My Opinion I See Oliver And Felicity As A Very Close Friendship So Maybe Oliver And Chloe Sullivan Or Oliver And Lois Lane That Would Be Awesome.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure I want him with Felicity...only if the writers decide to give them a healthy and happy relationship.
ReplyDeleteI don't want him with Laurel, though.
So I went with "other" for now.
I wish it were Shado.
ReplyDeleteI was also rooting for Helena (The Huntress) at one time.
exactly the same here! i love oliver/felicity but i'll be happy with anyone but sara or laurel!
ReplyDeleteFELICITY ALL THE WAY - no other option!!!!!! She's his yin to his yang :D:D:D:D:D
ReplyDeleteFelicity is kind of the Chloe of Arrow so.........
ReplyDeleteI don't think Oliver would want a romantic relationship with Felicity.
ReplyDeleteAren't superheros generally supposed to be lone wolves? Maybe we could get him a dog, like Bear on POI.
ReplyDeleteKidding, of course...
Betty White.
ReplyDeleteLana Lang.
ReplyDeleteAnyone but Laurel, I really get annoyed with her character.
ReplyDeleteI think that if the writers continue what they are doing with Laurel then definitely Felicity or someone else. I am a canon shipper but I really really do want them to make Laurel a gazillion times better then she is because she is just annoying right now. And I'm not so sure that it is all of Katie Cassidy's fault...
ReplyDeleteWhy is this the biggest question ? Shouldn't there rather be a 'who do you think is the real villain of season 2' or a 'wich enemy do you think will hit Oliver where it hurts him most' poll instead of a shipping oriented one ?
ReplyDeleteArrow is the last show that should be consumed by shippers :(
But She Is Not Chloe Her Name Is Felicity Smoak.
ReplyDeleteI love Felicity as a character, she is all sorts of awesome but I don't want them to ruin her relationship with Oliver by having them be in a relationship. As strangely written as their relationship often is, I still think he should end up with Laurell.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could like this more than once.
ReplyDeleteOther - someone else, somebody we haven't seen yet.
ReplyDeleteYeah I get that but in a broad sense they are similar. Anyways I voted Felicity because she actually makes Oliver smile.
ReplyDeleteOliver should end up with whomever ends up being the real "Black Canary" period. End of story. By all accounts it should be Laurel in order to stay true to comic book canon; which ultimately should be the final word on where a DC Comics character's story should go.
ReplyDeleteFor me, Other - Shado. I like the chemistry between them in the flashbacks, their scenes are playful but carry emotional weight and substance as well. I hope she turns out to still be alive in the present, and joins the fray (not holding my breath though).
ReplyDeleteI'd be okay with an Oliver/Felicity pairing, but I think they work better as platonic friends.
ReplyDeleteSadly, I think Shado is most likely dead in the present
ReplyDeleteI'm curious to see what you will think after this coming Wednesday's episode. It will change your outlook re Oliver\Laurel's past.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I know :(
ReplyDeleteThis. Felicity is such a great character, so why exactly does she have to end up with Oliver? Must every character relationship also be a sexual or romantic one? She really strikes as being more like Chloe Sullivan from Smallville, ie the friend and sidekick, not the love interest.
ReplyDeleteIf you're familiar with Shado in the comics, you may not be rooting for her and Oliver for very long. Even if she's dead in the present, island scenes might get VERY weird.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read the comics, but I do know what happens between her and Oliver in the comics. However, I doubt the show will take that route.
ReplyDeleteEveryone knows that Oliver and Laurel are together. Felicity is just a friendzone.
ReplyDeleteMajority of fans want oliver and Felicity.
ReplyDeleteFelicity Is the chloe of Arrow and Laurel Is the lana of arrow. That's how fans view the characters In compression to Smallville.
He should end up alone.
ReplyDeleteAnyone he is with will be in danger as long as he plays the role of hero.
Oliver and Felicty are just good friends that's why i'm shipping Felicity and Diggle at the moment, but things can change.,,
ReplyDeleteNeither. But especially not Laurel.
ReplyDeleteLois Lane
ReplyDeleteIt's funny how many people don't realize that Laurel is the Lois of Arrow, not the Lana. The Olicity fans smack of Chlark fans, right down to the attacking of other female characters because they can't figure out that you can like more than one female character at a time.
ReplyDeleteok so it does have differences with the comics but if it's about whom he ends up with, won't they follow the comics story? they usually do (eg smallvile: there were lots of characters and story arcs but then they introduced lois lane...)
ReplyDeleteNow I love Felicity but I really don't get that vibe from them (and I was a Chlark fan all the way in Smallville). Plus I think Felicity can do better, .
ReplyDeleteI voted for Laurel but that's not the important bit about the ending.
ReplyDeleteDon't really care a ton, but if I had to... Felicity. I know Dinah Laurel Lance marries him in the comics and is his one true love blah, blah, blah... but I really dislike Laurel.
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't matter...he cheated on her with HER OWN SISTER.
ReplyDeleteI just genuinely love Arrow and Felicity Smoak.. of course I want Oliver to be with Felicity, because I believe she can really make him happy, and Felicity can see the real Oliver while others fail to see the real him (well except for Diggle, but he's a man and I always think him as a very brotherly type, he need matured woman on his side, I miss Carly).. I always appreciate slowburn, so it is really good that they start it with little affectionate things.. The beginning of the development and the dynamic is there (Stephen and Emily do have crazy chemistry), looking forward to see it more explored and then other crazy and kick-ass stuffs as well.. really like this show...
ReplyDeleteAnd why is it consumed y shippers exactly? Because stuff like this stupid poll. As long as there are people and articles and all kinds of stuff encouraging shippers it will always be the focus.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely not Laurel. She just gets on my nerves!! Depending on how they portray BC (who is Sara, right? I read the casting info correctly?) I would like to see him with her, sticking to the comics and all.
ReplyDeleteBut as much as I love Felicity and her scenes with Oliver, I don't know if I'd go love interest.
ReplyDeleteLaurel is not the Lois Lane of Arrow. In the comics, Oliver and Laurel divorce so what's the point? And I don't think anybody was mad because Oliver Queen ends up with Chloe and not with Laurel in Smallville.
ReplyDeleteAnd the writers need to tell THEIR story not the comics' one.
ReplyDeleteExactly. Shipping should be the LAST thing on a producer's and a writers mind. The important thing is the story. Not who Oliver is going to end up with. Especially some ditzy blonde chick who's pretty much destined to be friendzoned.
ReplyDeleteIt's still a stupid question and a ridiculous poll. Even you said the show is supposed to be about something else. Luckily for us, it seems like shipping is the LAST thing on the minds of the producers and the writers. As it should be,.
ReplyDeleteWell to be fair Laurel is the main female cast member of the show.
ReplyDeleteFirst off, Joey Potter was never seen as the perfect girl.
ReplyDeletePS: Laurel Lance may not be a fleshed character at the moment but her personality is anything BUT self righteous. self righteous people don't risk their lives in the Glades and CNRI to get files to help people.
ReplyDeleteYes she is. She's been Oliver's main love interest for ages and in
ReplyDeletealmost every medium in which he's the main character so yeah. She is the
Lois lane of arrow. And yeah Oliver Queen ended up with Chloe Sullivan
in smallville what's your point? Because he ended up with chloe he's
going to end up with felicity in the end of this show? That's the worst
logic out there.
And you forget the fact that arrow is supposed to be a different story
from smallville. The writers even stated that they are staying away from
anything related to smallville.
And the writers need to tell THEIR story not the comics' one.
None the less the writers are still drawing inspiration from the source
material. Source material in which laurel and Oliver and the main
pairing. Not to mention as I stated before they are tying to stay away
from smallville's version of green arrow. So having him pair up with a
geeky nerdy smart blond who's good with computers is probably not gonna
happen since smallville kinda beat them too that.
And you're wrong. "Chemistry" is not the only important thing. The story
is. And the majority of people who watch arrow don't watch this show to
see Oliver Queen get with an annoying ditzy blonde girl. They watch the
show to see how he becomes green arrow.
That's it.
Well too bad for you because this is a canon story.
ReplyDeleteWell then you're gonna be disappointed because Sara is NOT Black Canary. She's Canary. Thats all. She hasn't been referred to as Black Canary because that Mantel is for Laurel in the future. But she still has to BECOME Laurel. Frankly put you sound utterly stupid and asinine with this logic of yours.
ReplyDeleteAs friends though.
ReplyDeleteWell you're rude!!! Everyone is allowed to have their own opinions, that doesn't give you a right to insult them over it!!!!
ReplyDeleteI ship neither O/L nor O/F, but there's no need to collectively attack everyone who dislikes Laurel.
ReplyDeleteI really don't see the similarities!!! There's no comparison between those 2 shows!!
ReplyDeleteYeah Sara is alive so her death can't be between them. I think Tommy's death should be between them though.
ReplyDeletei love your answer
ReplyDeleteI ship Olicity but that doesn't mean I think that Katie Cassidy is a bad actress I like her I think the character of Laurel Lance is a terrible waste of screen time but that's not Katie's fault.
ReplyDeleteIt honestly makes me laugh when I read the hilariously stupid drivel that comes out of the mouths of some of the "Olicity" shippers.
ReplyDeleteAnd to prove my point let me bring up an example.
This being one of them.
I am talking about what happens b/w Shado and Oliver on the Island.
ReplyDeleteWell then you're blind. Felicity Smoak is pretty much Chloe Sullivan incarnate.
ReplyDeleteNo but you're still bias viewer who knows nothing about good TV.
ReplyDeleteNo but it seems to be the majority reason.
ReplyDeleteLMAO we all know who you are, why don't you post as yourself, troll? Your writing STYLE gives it AWAY! Lol.
ReplyDeleteExcuse me? There's no reason to be calling names and to be so snippy. We all have our own opinions and this happens to be mine.
ReplyDeleteBut thank you for the info about Sara, Laurel, and the (Black) Canary.
Don't worry, this person is just a troll that goes by many names here, but it's not too hard to recognize because the writing is the same. And the arrogancy gives it away as well. Oh, and the head up the ass and the butthurt over people who don't like Laurel, because they apparently are obliged to.
ReplyDeleteThis poll says otherwise.
ReplyDeleteNo kidding? Anyone would know who I am since anyone can compare this picture to my tumblr avatar.
ReplyDeleteWay to state the obvious oh mentally inept one.
Lol, it's cute that you think shipping polls matter. How many people voted so far? A thousand or so? How many viewers do you think Arrow Averages per episode? More than a thousand last time I checked.
ReplyDeleteSo congrats to you sweetie. You're clueless.
I just told you who I was so why do you think I am hiding anything? Are you always this clueless when you post or are you purposely trying hard to sound like someone who is generally ignorant? Congratulations to you on stating the obvious.
ReplyDeletePS: I like how you tell this person to ignore me when you yourself have given me three responses.
ReplyDeleteMy bad.
Ya, kinda gathered ^_^ Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThis poll only has a thousand or so votes total. Last I checked there were more than a thousand viewers who watches this show. Like I said, you guys are not the majority of this fanbase.
ReplyDeleteTry again oh unintelligent one.
You're right we do have our opinions. And my opinion is that you're clearly uninformed about what's happening. So I'm going to TELL you that you are uninformed and state that your logic is kind of silly.
ReplyDeleteAfter all, it's an opinion. :)
Who's going to join me in ignoring the troll now?!
ReplyDeleteOne person lol.
ReplyDeleteNot to mention the fact that chemistry is such a subjective thing.
ReplyDeleteThats a very good way of ignoring me. Making a public post lol. Classic.
ReplyDeletePeople completely disregard the fact that Oliver has admitted to Laurel so many times that she sees the good in him and that she sees that he's hiding something from everyone.
ReplyDeleteAlso did you make this little account just to respond to me? How sweet! lol.
ReplyDeleteFlesh her out more. That's a laugh considering there are so many sides to Laurel and you can clearly see the character development in her but then when you look at someone like Felicity, she's so one-sided it's a joke. All the main female characters have had more character development than Felicity.
ReplyDeleteNeither. Polls like this are only good for starting shipping wars and Arrow would be better off without shipping at all.
ReplyDeleteIn all honesty I don't watch this show for who ends up with Oliver.
ReplyDeleteBwah!!! Thanks for the laugh.
ReplyDeleteThat I would have to agree with. I think she needs to have more embelishment since she is going to become Black Canary in the future. Having said that I don't expect her to wake up one day and say I'm Black Canary.
ReplyDeleteAgreed! There are so many interesting aspects about Arrow that it is frustrating when shipping drowns out all other conversation. In the end I don't care who Oliver gets with. Just leave it until the series finale and let's get the focus back on the story.
ReplyDeleteYes! Exactly! Which is what I keep telling everyone. Most people don't watch shows for ships. They watch them FOR the shows. These are just an afterthought. And a lame one at that.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could agree with you but I think the writers and producers have been guilty at times to pandering to certain 'ships. I do like how they have not let it overwhelm the story though. I hope they continue in this vein.
ReplyDelete"This poll says otherwise."
ReplyDeleteHe he he.
ReplyDeleteI don't see fan pandering as something that's giving them exactly what they want.
ReplyDeleteYou have now insulted almost everyone who has posted here. I don't want Iliver and Felicity or Olvier and Laurel together but insulting everyone else will only get you banned from SpoilerTV. Make your point but stop attacking people.
ReplyDeleteWell Helena was more interesting than most of the female characters on Arrow so far and had the best back story, so who could blame you.
ReplyDeleteEh I could care less If I'm banned honestly. It's not like I spend most of my time here. Also I haven't insulted everyone. Only the hardcore shipping nut jobs.
ReplyDeleteSpoilerTV has a no name-calling policy.
ReplyDeleteThen care that you are coming off as a psychotic douche, worse than the people you are insulting. No one will take your opinion seriously if you cannot frame an argument without being offensive about it.
ReplyDeleteMmm maybe just a regular douche. Beside all I said was that she sounded ridiculous. Well I said something worse but I felt bad so I changed it. See? I'm not a bad guy! ;-D
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you could be very entertaining to discuss with but that won't happen if you get yourself banned now. :-P
ReplyDeleteWhat? I said I changed it. I think it's a reasonable response. Again I see myself as a reasonable gent. :)
ReplyDeleteLet me ask you guys something.
ReplyDeleteSorry but it's the way it goes.
Huntress
ReplyDeleteWhat does this poll have to do with the majority of the people who watch this show? It's a pretty well known fact that shippers don't make up the majority of the people who watch television shows. In fact a lot of people here already stated that they don't really watch tv shows for their favorite pairings. I sincerely doubt that this poll is an accurate representation of who watches Arrow. Maybe the shipping community but not the fanbase as a whole.
ReplyDeleteBein a life long Green Arrow fan first choice definitely Laurel hands down if it has to be anyway else Shado
ReplyDeleteNobody
ReplyDeleteExactly RYAN, brilliant comment
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't say that...The Neal/Sara ship at White Collar for example wasn't exactly popular either...half of the fans liked it, the other half hated it (there was no real alternative, though...similar to Oliver/Laurel it was simply a pairing which didn't really click). Three guesses which character was demoted from regular to recurring the following season and is apparently written out of the show altogether by now.
ReplyDeleteThe writers and producers do pay attention to trends...my guess it that at this point, they will try a overhaul for Laurel, perhaps bank on the audience changing its mind eventually.
It's an adaption of a comic book, it doesn't have to follow it exactly. Also I never said I was routing for them or ship them, frankly I don't give a damn if Olicity ever happens, I just mentioned my seething hatred of Laurel.
ReplyDeleteHe never got with Chloe. Did you even watch the show?
ReplyDeleteWell Laurel seems logically right according to the storylines. In my mind that would not match with Felicity according the storylines because it has always been about Laurel. Laurel is not bad I think there's a lot more we can see of her.
ReplyDeleteHe is probably going to have other relationships but not to Felicity and its probably going to take next season for Laurel to know the truth.
ReplyDeleteSorry for the speech, and my grammar mistakes (my mother tongue is Spanish)
If you disagree with me, that's your prerogative, but why don't you elaborate? Claiming Laurel is complex and Felicity isn't while offering no explanation as to WHY you feel that way doesn't contribute much to the discussion.
ReplyDeleteAmen. This person doesn't appear to have anything better to do with their time than respond to EVERY SINGLE COMMENT criticizing Laurel and read whoever made it the riot act. Hope he/she gets banned quickly.
ReplyDelete"Simply put, shippers don't make up a huge majority of the audience, hence they don't matter"
ReplyDeleteThen you don't matter either since you are obviously a (lauliver) shipper. bye
What about people who aren't on the internet and watch Arrow without being in the fandom? There are thousand of those and how do you know they don't enjoy Oliver/Felicity? Just because they don't express their opinions on the internet it doesn't mean they don't exist.
ReplyDeleteWriters and especially producers consider fans on the internet as a small sample of viewers' opinions.
ReplyDeleteThat's a good point, ultimately love interests just end up being excess baggage on a show like this. I did state that of the existing options, I like him the best with Shado, but it would be best to just keep the romance to a minimum. It's a distraction, that I frankly think only exists on shows of this nature because of the stereotypical belief that romance draws in the female demo.
ReplyDeleteLaurel just seems to drag him down. I like Felicity--she cares about Ollie through thick and thin.
ReplyDeleteHaha Felicity, duh. What kinda question was that?? lmao.

ReplyDeleteLaurel will end up with Oliver
ReplyDeleteI understand why many like to stick to the Oliver and Laurel plotline because of the chemistry they had and the prewritten future in the comic books, but nevertheless the little chemistry they had in the beginning, I believed, died the same time Tommy did. Laurel doesn’t bring much to the romantic story line however is a great character for the darker side, and I believe it would be interesting to watch her, if it happens, become Black Canary.
ReplyDeleteI do believe that Oliver and Felicity have chemistry, but whether or not that will be played upon is hard to tell at this time in the series. I think the main reason that I myself, and probably many others seem to like them as a couple is because she’s a smart and light hearted character, and she is the only one who can really make him laugh. Laurel isn’t quite like that.
I think that if Oliver was to be with anyone then it should be Felicity or a character we have yet to see, because it is only a season and a half into the show and if the majority of the audience are already fed up with the Laurel/Oliver plotline, it shows that clearly it isn’t getting anywhere that the viewers would want.
felicity please
