- Regina Mills (a.k.a. 'The Evil Queen') [Once Upon A Time] - beside her magic powers, she sure can throw punches, as well as take a hit. ;)
- Kahlan Amnell (a.k.a. 'the Mother Confessor') [Legend of the Seeker] - how can anyone forget about those high kicks and double dagger flips?!
- Cara Mason (a.k.a. 'Mistress Cara') [Legend of the Seeker] - raised to be a badass bodyguard to a wizard and resist torture, need I go on
- Bo Denis [Lost Girl] - I don't always take her fighting skills seriously because of all the puns and comic lines she has; but hey, Anna Silk sure can sell me on the "tough and sexy" part
- Amanda Collins (a.k.a. Helen Collins) [Nikita] - although we haven't seen her in combat very often, she managed to neutralise Alex, and later Nikita
- Kalinda Sharma [The Good Wife] - watch out for her with a baseball bat, lol
- Helen Magnus [Sanctuary] - I miss the days when she was 'getting her James Bond on' :(
Nikita, Alex, Amanda, from Nikita. Some of the toughest female characters I've seen are from this show. Also, Sarah Walker from Chuck. And Lois Lane (Smallville)
"Woman" or "female"? Because if I have to choose an adult, I will say Eva La Rue from her appearances on CSI: Miami. If I can say a female (as in any ages), I want to say Mackenzie Lintz from Under the Dome.
I have to say it; I find it quite hilarious that in this poll, the choice for "Other" is the one winning. Hahaha!
Some current ass-kicking beauties not on the list:
Annie Walker (Piper Perabo) - Covert Affairs Shaw (Sarah Shahi)- Person of Interest Sam Hunter (Melissa George) - Hunted Alice (Ruth Wilson) - Luther Alison Argent (Crystal Reed) - Teen Wolf Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick) - Vikings
Past ass-kicking beauties not on the list: Sidney Bristow (Jennifer Garner) - Alias Fiona Glenanne (Gabrielle Anwar) - Burn Notice Echo (Eliza Dushku) - Dollhouse
There is only one woman on TV is the toughest and sexiest yes it's Cote de Pablo's Character Ziva David. If Ziva ever got into a fight with Kate Beckett, Ziva would kick her ass into submission.
Catherine Chandler! For all that she is small, she packs a huge punch! Seriously, she does that spectacular jump-punch Brad Pitt did in Troy. And her fighting prowess is genuine. Kristin Kreuk is a karate expert in real life and has a lead role in a martial arts movie under her black belt.
Sydney Bristow - Alias Sarah Manning - Orphan Black Kate Austen - LOST Mary Crawley - Downton Abby Hannah McKay - Dexter Charlotte Staples Lewis - LOST Red Olivia - FRINGE Juliet Burke - LOST Emma Swan - OUAT Regina Mills - OUAT "Star Buck" - BSG "Diana" -BSG "Caprica" 6 - BSG Amanda Greystone - Caprica Lacey Rand - Caprica Nadia Santos - Alias Rachel Gibson - Alias Renee Riene - Alias "Etta" Bishop - Fringe Charlie Matheson - Revolution Nora Clayton - Revolution
Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) - Game of Thrones. Maggie Greene (Lauren Cohan) - The Walking Dead. Elizabeth Jennings (Keri Russell) - The Americans. Jenny (Katie Aselton) - The League. Among the new ones, I'd say Abby Mills (Nicole Beharie) - Sleepy Hollow.
I was afraid to see her as one of the choices. Actually, I was afraid this poll had been created for this sole purpose by some Castle fan. Glad to see it's not so, but that is a very, very poor pool of candidates.
From the list - Nikita, Ziva, and Kensi. Off the list, hundreds. Judging only on tough, here are my suggestions:
Fiona Glenanne - Burn Notice Buffy - Buffy the Vampire Slayer Dana Scully - The X-Files Aeryn Sun - Farscape Samantha Carter - Stargate SG-1 Nikita - La Femme Nikita Melinda May - SHIELD Stahma and Irisa - Defiance Sydney - Alias Sarah Connor - Terminator: TSCC Wonder Woman Shado and the Huntress - Arrow Xena - Xena the Warrior Princess Erica - Teen Wolf Meg, Ruby, and Abaddon - Supernatural Parker - Leverage Mary - In Plain Sight Shaw - Person of Interest Olivia's - Law and Order: SVU & Scandal Kahlan - Legend of the Seeker Max - Dark Angel Annie Walker - Covert Affairs Zoe - Firefly Nora - Revolution Amanda's - Highlander and Melrose Place Cagney and Lacey
1)Lost Girl/Bo Dennis (Anna Silk) - the most "Bad - A$$ Sexy" Succubus on TV! 2)Game of Thrones/Daenerys "Dany Stormborn" Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) - brave young woman, taking charge of her life and shaping her destiny! 3)Nikita/Nikita (Maggie Q) - a) beautiful badd - a$$ sexy woman b) performs her own fight/gunplay scenes c) does most of her own stunts. Nikita could kill half the world, then beat - up the other half of the world so they cry in mourning the dead half! 4)Nikita/Amanda (Melinda Clarke) - Nikita's most dangerous arch - nemesis/villain to date..............and still alive, for now! 5)Sleepy Hollow/Jennifer "Jenny" Mills (Lyndie Greenwood) - a hardcore survivor who is ready to go "Whip - A$$" on whoever gets in her way, WATCH OUT! 6)Marvel's Agents of Shields/Melinda "The Calvary" May (Ming-Na Wen) - the mostest bad - a$$, dangerous - sexy woman on TV since Nikita (Maggie Q)..........NUFF SAID! 7)Law & Order: SVU/Olivia "Liv" Benson (Mariska Hargitay) - brave and dedicated to duty/cause while grappling with keeping her own violent nature in check. One of the best written/performed TV characters (female or otherwise) for over a decade now (thank you Mariska Hargitay and Dick Wolf). 8)The Blacklist/Elizabeth Keen (Meagan Boone) - beautiful agent who is so dangerous that in just two episodes she has already stabbed to people in the neck with a ink pen...........OK the last time she was trying to save a life, but you get my point! 9)Lost Girl/Aife/Saskia (Inga Cadranel) - crazy bad - a$$ sexy mother of the most "Bad - A$$ Sexy" Succubus on TV! Even the Blood King and Fae (Dark/Light) Elders fear Aife. 10)Continuum/Sonya Valentine (Lexa Doig) - a sci - fi sexy bad - a$$ for over a decade (Andromeda, Jason X, and TekWars)! These are my choses and I'm sticking to them. 4 A BIG FAT SPOILER, I am Nobody!!!
This was a pretty easy decision simply cos Olivia Dunham wasn't on the list. Ziva and Olivia are the two most kickass women on Network TV. I have nothing against any of the others(or Beckett) but they simply are not given the fight sequences that these two get. Ziva gets bonus points for the actor doing her own stunts tho.
Ziva, Kensi & my other would be Olivia Dunham. Olivia doesnt have a role where she is constantly kicking ass but it takes a tough & strong person to do what she does. I would add Beckett & Daenaerys Targaryen as my top 5. Bo from LG doesnt belong in this poll, she may be sexy but on a toughness scale she loses major points when she is relegated to helpless damsel to keep the male lead relevant to the story
As much as I like Beckett she is not given the same quantity or quality of high-octane fight sequences that would put her in the same ass-kicking category as say Ziva David.
Kensi Blye. I believe her as a trained soldier. Plus she gets to use cooler weapons than Ziva. Ziva is pretty darned tough to but...hers wasn't the first name to come to mind in answer to that question. I think Kensi's personality puts her above Ziva on the list for me. Nikta is way too skinny for me to believe her bones wouldn't snap in a fight. Much as i love the show I always have to shut off my inner critic when Nikita starts to fight hand to hand.
Amanda from Nikita rocked in the first 2 seasons, but I hate what they did to her character in Season 3. She lost all of her complexity and mystique and became this one-dimensional, cartoonish villain. While physical combat wasn't exactly her forte (I don't think she could've won that fight with Nikita in 2x18 without tying her hands first), she was an extremely dangerous and badass woman, that's for sure.
Yes! This show excels at writing complex and capable female characters. Well... at least it did. I HATE what they did to Amanda's character in Season 3. And Nikita wasn't exactly the brightest bulb in the chandelier during the Michael hand storyline - dealing with the devil that is The Shop to not even save Michael's life, but get him a new limb, was pretty darn stupid.
And that epic ripping-chains-from-the-ceiling scene in 1x11 (possibly the best episode ever)... when Oliver did something similar on Arrow (S1 finale), I was like "Dude... you've got *nothing* on Nikita. Go home."
Indeed, and at least early in the series, she was strong mentally and not just physically. Her fiance was murdered and instead of falling to pieces, she channeled her anger and grief into taking SD-6 down. She survived so much crap and came out on top.
I have to agree, I also liked Amanda more in ss1&2. I loved her scenes with Alex, Nikita, Ari and even Percy. She was a very charming and mysterious character, and although it was obvious she had a cruel streak, her agenda and her motivation were never clear. Season 3 made her this obsessive, single-minded villain whose actions barely make sense (her logic is quite twisted), even though in s1 she was the most rational, shrewd character. What's worse, in s3 they stripped her of all the humanity and realism she had in the previous two seasons. I guess the creators felt the need to make her less sympathetic and likeable before they could kill her. But it's truly a pity, because it was exactly her ambiguity that made her so intriguing.
Speaking as a huge Castle Fan, obviously an assassin would beat a police officer. I mean come on! If this were a different poll though dealing with brains, Beckett would totally win though <3 Again, obviously not this poll.
Oh, I like what they did with Amanda in S3, except for the first half where her goal was too blurry. I'm not sure I agree with you about Nikita too. Because what I've learned about her just from the first two seasons, is she does whatever she thinks is right. Whether it's wrong or not, she's not one to sit around and wait for something to happen. 'Impulsive' is the right word to put it, so while I don't agree with her at some circumstances, at the end of the day, it's who she is. During the whole Michael hand storyline, I actually found myself liking Michael less and less. I don't know, we all have different tastes/opinions. :)
There were several things that bothered me about Nikita and Michael's actions in 3x16. One, they decided that The Shop was just "a think-tank for the U.S. military", so there'd be no harm in giving it dangerous technology. I mean... what? This is the organization that performs experiments on kidnapped children for god's sake, and they even mentioned that in the beginning of the episode. So they were willing to steal that device and give it to The Shop, which could endanger a ton of people, just to get a new hand for Michael. Plus, they brought Jason with them and got him killed (I know he volunteered but seriously, they should've refused to include anyone else in that mission, it had nothing to do with Division). It was all really selfish and completely unlike the Nikita I knew, who put other people's well-being before her own. Finally, letting The Shop actually perform the surgery on Michael was also really dumb and reckless: seriously, give an evil organization access to your body and just trust that they wouldn't do anything harmful? Ultimately, it was a mistake to give Michael a new hand in the first place, if you ask me. It was a much more powerful storyline to have him struggle with his disability and eventually accept it than to give it a magical fix like this. But that's a whole other matter that has nothing to do with tough women on TV, so I digress. Mileage varies, I guess.
Ziva's sexy as all hell as well. :P That would be why she won TV's sexiest law enforcement officer (up against Becket herself, no less!) http://tvline.com/2011/12/27/ncis-ziva-david-ultimate-female-law-enforcement-crushes-bracket-tournament-winner/
And stop with Beckett, she's cool, but she'll never be Olivia Dunham's cool, travelling between universes, kicking Observer's ass and protecting worlds staying sexy as hell :)
I would say that Carter AND Shaw are tied for the toughest and sexiest on POI! Surprised that neither was listed, especially after viewing the promo for the next episode!
Bones is another beautiful, sexy and badass character--she even put down some bad dudes when she was pregnant! And even though she's a scientist, she's shot several villains....
I know when most people read that word "toughest" they assume physically. But when I read it I understand it as in a persons character. Therefore, I would have to say Temperance Brennan. And Bones isn't even on my top 5 favorite shows that I watch... but as a strong female character, she is super badass. Next would be Catherine Chandler. And neither one of these characters are on that list :(
And u r clearly misjudging me. If I love one actress performance and I find it pretty good that doesn't mean I don't watch other shows. So I suggest you shut the hole you are talking from. Mind your own business. And stop living under a rock.
I guess that the site received complaints about Castle winning every poll, so they took Kate Beckett off as an option...That's the only explanation I have. So yeah 'Other - Leave comment' : Kate Beckett, by far.
Puh-lease. Ziva was a trained assassin and part of the Israeli Defense Forces. She was rendered capable of disabling men twice her size at the age of 16. She can kill someone 18 different ways with a *paperclip* for God's sake!
Why is Catherine Chandler of Beauty and the Beast not on this list...she does some serious fighting and Kristin Kreuk does a lot of her own fight scenes!!!! All #Beasties vote for this wonderful woman
Thanks for publishing my poll. For those who have been missing their favorit: My original list of women was very very long (4x over), including most of the women who have been mentioned. But it is asked to keep the answer options short. So its female main cast (or former in case of Ziva) on a show I am currently watching and is on screen this fall/winter.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
What, no Kate Beckett?

ReplyDeleteNikita, Emily from Revenge and Other - Katherine from The Vampire Diaries.
ReplyDeleteNo offense, but I really don't see OUaT's Emma as tough. Most of the time, she's a lightweight.
YES @ Juliet. I loved her.
ReplyDeleteAmanda from Nikita rocked in the first 2 seasons, but I hate what they did to her character in Season 3. And Nikita wasn't exactly the brightest bulb in the chandelier during the Michael hand storyline - dealing with the devil that is The Shop to not even save Michael's life, but get him a new limb, was pretty darn stupid.
ReplyDeleteAnd that epic ripping-chains-from-the-ceiling scene in 1x11 (possibly the best episode ever)... when Oliver did something similar on Arrow (S1 finale), I was like "Dude... you've got *nothing* on Nikita. Go home."
ReplyDeleteIndeed, and at least early in the series, she was strong mentally and not just physically. Her fiance was murdered and instead of falling to pieces, she channeled her anger and grief into taking SD-6 down. She survived so much crap and came out on top.
ReplyDeleteRegina Mills! <3 Forever!
ReplyDeleteBo Dennis FTW ❤❤ ....Regina Mills should be on here also not Emma, Regina kicks ass and is sexy as hell ❤❤
ReplyDeleteI have to agree, I also liked Amanda more in ss1&2. I loved her scenes with Alex, Nikita, Ari and even Percy. She was a very charming and mysterious character, and although it was obvious she had a cruel streak, her agenda and her motivation were never clear.
ReplyDeleteSeason 3 made her this obsessive, single-minded villain whose actions barely make sense (her logic is quite twisted), even though in s1 she was the most rational, shrewd character. What's worse, in s3 they stripped her of all the humanity and realism she had in the previous two seasons.
I guess the creators felt the need to make her less sympathetic and likeable before they could kill her. But it's truly a pity, because it was exactly her ambiguity that made her so intriguing.
Haha yeah.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking as a huge Castle Fan, obviously an assassin would beat a police officer. I mean come on! If this were a different poll though dealing with brains, Beckett would totally win though <3 Again, obviously not this poll.
ReplyDeleteSarah Walker- Chuck
ReplyDeleteOh, I like what they did with Amanda in S3, except for the first half where her goal was too blurry. :)
ReplyDeleteThere were several things that bothered me about Nikita and Michael's actions in 3x16.
ReplyDeleteUltimately, it was a mistake to give Michael a new hand in the first place, if you ask me. It was a much more powerful storyline to have him struggle with his disability and eventually accept it than to give it a magical fix like this. But that's a whole other matter that has nothing to do with tough women on TV, so I digress.
Mileage varies, I guess.
Bo Dennis (Lost Girl) for me :)
ReplyDeleteBuffy Summers, Dana Scully and Kate Beckett.
ReplyDeleteZiva's sexy as all hell as well. :P That would be why she won TV's sexiest law enforcement officer (up against Becket herself, no less!) http://tvline.com/2011/12/27/ncis-ziva-david-ultimate-female-law-enforcement-crushes-bracket-tournament-winner/
ReplyDeleteOther - Olivia from Fringe.
ReplyDeleteAnd stop with Beckett, she's cool, but she'll never be Olivia Dunham's cool, travelling between universes, kicking Observer's ass and protecting worlds staying sexy as hell :)
Liked her on Fairly Legal, love her on PoI :)
ReplyDeleteI would say that Carter AND Shaw are tied for the toughest and sexiest on POI! Surprised that neither was listed, especially after viewing the promo for the next episode!
ReplyDeleteBones is another beautiful, sexy and badass character--she even put down some bad dudes when she was pregnant! And even though she's a scientist, she's shot several villains....
ReplyDeleteI voted for Emily from Revenge. Purely because she gets her revenge and is tough in a way that nobody else knows!
ReplyDeleteKate Beckett; Castle
ReplyDelete- has been throwing suspects around for 6 seasons
- survived getting shot in the chest by a sniper
- stays gorgeous the whole freakin' series
Yeah, KB should be up there.
Kalinda Sharma ???? on the good wife. or even Alicia Florrick....
ReplyDeleteKate Beckett
ReplyDeleteKate Beckett
ReplyDeleteOther: Kate Beckett- Castle
ReplyDeleteKate Beckett
ReplyDeleteOther: Kate Beckett
ReplyDeleteOther: KATE BECKETT
ReplyDeleteKate Beckett, of course
ReplyDeleteThat's actually not that bad ass, in comparison to other fictional characters.
ReplyDeleteI know when most people read that word "toughest" they assume physically. But when I read it I understand it as in a persons character. Therefore, I would have to say Temperance Brennan. And Bones isn't even on my top 5 favorite shows that I watch... but as a strong female character, she is super badass. Next would be Catherine Chandler. And neither one of these characters are on that list :(
ReplyDeleteOTROS - CATHERINE CHANDLER (BEAUTY AND THE BEAST)
ReplyDeleteBo from Lost Girl. One word sums it up... KATANA. ;)
ReplyDeleteAnd u r clearly misjudging me. If I love one actress performance and I find it pretty good that doesn't mean I don't watch other shows. So I suggest you shut the hole you are talking from. Mind your own business. And stop living under a rock.
ReplyDeleteOther - Kate Beckett.
ReplyDeletemy other choice would be kate beckett!
ReplyDeleteTemperance Brennan from Bones
ReplyDeleteBut Ziva David I think for now deserves this
WHAT???No Lauren Cohan?????????????
ReplyDeleteagreed with both
ReplyDeletesupported
ReplyDeletesupported 2
ReplyDelete100% supported
ReplyDeletesupported abt Olivia Benson!!!
ReplyDeleteCara Mason 4 sure
ReplyDeleteLois Lane is from a cancelled show, but I thought they could put Alex Reid (Saving Hope) also played by gorgeous Erica Durance (the fairest of all).
ReplyDeleteKensi Lost Girl far and away the sexiest and toughest
ReplyDeleteLauren
ReplyDeleteBo is winning, awesome! :)
ReplyDeleteLauren - Lost Girl
ReplyDeleteNobody mentioning that it says Emma Snow? Her name is Emma SWAN. (And Emma is a badass, but nobody beats Ziva David).
ReplyDeleteI beg to differ. Watch 5x01 of Castle and you'll see what I mean by that. ;-)
ReplyDeleteOlivia Benson from Law & Order SVU
ReplyDeleteI guess that the site received complaints about Castle winning every poll, so they took Kate Beckett off as an option...That's the only explanation I have.
ReplyDeleteSo yeah 'Other - Leave comment' : Kate Beckett, by far.
Kate Beckett, no question!
ReplyDeleteZiva David and Other: Kate Beckett :)
ReplyDeleteother: Kristin Kreuk
ReplyDeletePuh-lease. Ziva was a trained assassin and part of the Israeli Defense Forces. She was rendered capable of disabling men twice her size at the age of 16. She can kill someone 18 different ways with a *paperclip* for God's sake!
ReplyDeleteKristin Kreuk of course! Yes, Beasties rock n roar!
ReplyDeleteWhy is Catherine Chandler of Beauty and the Beast not on this list...she does some serious fighting and Kristin Kreuk does a lot of her own fight scenes!!!!
ReplyDeleteAll #Beasties vote for this wonderful woman
I agree Kate wouldn't last 10 minutes against Ziva a Mossad agent no less!
ReplyDeleteThanks for publishing my poll.
ReplyDeleteFor those who have been missing their favorit:
My original list of women was very very long (4x over), including most of the women who have been mentioned.
But it is asked to keep the answer options short.
So its female main cast (or former in case of Ziva) on a show I am currently watching and is on screen this fall/winter.
haha, my bad. thanks for pointing that out.
ReplyDeleteKristin Kreuk, Catherine Chandler on beauty and the Beast. All you have to do to understand why is watch season 2 #BATB
ReplyDeleteSydney Bristow anyone?!!! She's the best!
ReplyDelete
