Grey's Anatomy is a huge moneyspinner for ABC - they charge more than $200k for a 30 second ad during its hour. It's ABC's longest running scripted series, and one of the best rating. The format works well, it has a loyal fanbase, and it's on networks all round the world. Business-wise, it'd be a stupid business decision by ABC to cancel the show at the end of this season.
This show is one of my favorites, but sadly season 10 has not been good enough so far.. hoping it gets better. Don't want it to get dragged on unnecessarily, especially without Sandra Oh! Season 10 should be the last if it doesn't improve soon..
Despite high income during ads, I assume the show is getting more and more expensive to produce - which means that they have to heighten the cost of ads to make up for it. I don't necessarily think that's such a good thing. Grey's has undoubtedly made history, and I partially think it should go out on a high note instead of dragging it out for as long as it can possibly go. Besides, the cast members must get tired? I don't want more shows to end up like Two and a Half Men where they milk the cow long enough to make the essential cast members disappear.
Yes Only Because Yang Is Leaving So I Don't Want Any Others To Leave Because I Heard In An Ellen Pompeo Interview That The Show Will Still Go On If The Original Characters Leave And I Really Don't Like The New Interns.
Hell no. Grey's Anatomy is still a great show, far better than others. Plus, as Jimmy said it's a huge moneyspinner. ABC needs Grey's Anatomy to survive.
I think when the long time fans of a show want it to end, its time to call it a day. The cast is ready to move on, the storylines are turning ridiculous, they are ruining characters to create some drama. Just end it, there is bound to be another money maker after it. People need to watch something, just make something similar but fresh.
i love Grey's, it's my favorite show and i want it to end on a high note.... i don't know how the ratings will be after Cristina leaves.... but we already know the show's going for an eleventh season, so there's nothing we can really do.
i just hope Cristina doesn't die in the finale... -_-
I'm w/ the IDK group on this one. As much As I love this show, it just hasn't been the same since S8. I've been hoping that Shonda and the writers would be able to revive the show again but it's just not happening. I really wish Shonda would have let go of her grudge and let Kathrine Heigl come back when she wanted to. No way did she deserve great pay after the stunt she pulled but the fans wanted it and so did she. I feel like Shonda missed a lot of opportunities to make some really great moments in S9 and S10 is off to an even slower start and w/ Sandra Oh (who happens to be one of my top3 on the show) leaving at the end of the season I just don't know where the show will go from there. Even though she denies it, at times I get a sense that Shonda could care less abt the show. I know she took it really hard when Private Practice ended which made me think she would get even more behind the show that started it all for her but I really haven't seen that. S10 is a big accomplishment and this is the time to pull out everything you got to keep old fans and gain new ones. I have been very let down by the advertising this season. Grey's has given ABC great numbers over the years but the ads for the show don't even mention that this is the 10th season and the ads for the 200th ep never mentioned it was the 200th ep. Being a long time fan I would hate to see the show get cancelled after Shonda and the network continue to run it in the ground. When was the last time Shonda even wrote an episode for Grey's? If the season doesn't pick up I would have to agree that S11 should be the last.
No, if the mean characaters decide to stay for just one more season. Yes if they leave... the show just woudn't be the same and all has been done before. I like the dynamics as they are now. It would make more sense to me if they made a spin-off..?
As much as I love it, and it is my favourite show still on TV, I think it should. I just don't see how it will cope with the loss of Cristina. It has never had such a huge decline in quality that almost every show does (especially after ten years!) but I'd hate for it to really dip so it should go out on high, as much as I will hate to see it go.
NO! It's one of my favorite shows. Of course I'll be heartbroken when Cristina leaves, but there are still a lot of other great character. I think the new interns are getting better (although Brooks was my favorite..). And they might add new and interesting (& messed up) doctors to the cast. I hope it'll keep on going
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
What? No!

ReplyDeleteI think it depends on whether Ellen or Patrick leave, tbh.
ReplyDeleteI think season 11 should be the last one so they'd have more time to enroute the storys to a good ending.

Of course. I thought it was obvious. BTW there is nothing interesting in "adventures of wealthy doctors".

ReplyDeleteYes! Leave while on top and 10 is a nice number.
