That is the big question and once again we discovered a deeper betrayal that marked the history of the doppelgangers. We met Qetsiyah, who returned back from the other side. In the end, she had a surprising story to tell.
Fate
Thankfully, Stefan is back, but he got caught up in Quetsiyah's business with Silas. She revealed that the fates of the doppelgangers are forever entwined, which means that outsiders like Damon or her were always supposed to watch the people they love with someone else. It definitely planted a seed of doubt in Damon's head. To be honest, I'm not really a fan of the whole concept of star-crossed lovers, which is why the story of a jealous lover seeking revenge is not exactly very interesting to watch. It also puts a negative spin on Stefan's and Elena's history together, because they seem to be drawn to each other not out of their own choices and free will, but because of destiny alone. The same would apply to Katherine and also Tatia, who had a child with another man (probably another Stefan lookalike). We will see how Damon will take this news in the future.Highlights
Katherine was particularly delightful to watch and her interaction with Elena changed slightly, especially after Elena saved her. Her stint with humanity might just work out. Vilifying Quetsiyah didn't really work for me and her sarcastic remarks made me feel sympathetic towards her. The same can't be said about Silas, but Paul Wesley continues to do a wonderful job portraying the nuances of his character, including that sense of urgency and danger. If the doppelganger storyline continues, Nina and Paul will have a lot of work to do.
I agree with you completely!
ReplyDeleteAlthough I liked that we finally got to see Quetsiyah and Silas flashbacks, it bothers me that they bring the love triangle back so soon. TVD is a great show with really good storylines, I'm really interested in the whole Megan/Elena's father storyline and Silas is cool too, but the love triangle dominates nearly every episode! It's a pity! :( Hopefully Elena stays with Damon, Stefan moves on and the show can concentrate on the thrilling storylines :)
Quetsiyah did say the dopplegangers were fated to be. But there are two dopplegangers around. Elena and Katherine. Quetsiyah also seemed a little bit more than off. Maybe that seed of doubt was what she wanted to plant in his head. She is wrong though. We know she is. Because we know there was a love triangle involving the first Petrova doppleganger and Klaus and Elijah(This was a bit of a retcon last night but it can make sense if you see the Petrova they were with as another doppleganger than the Originals not having all the information/not believing in Silas)
ReplyDeleteSo we have at least one time where the Doppleganger didn't choose the Silas shadowself. Could their be more? Was that because there were more than one doppleganger at once?
