The episode is mainly centered around John. We see flashbacks to his childhood this time, just when he has started using his powers. He steals, but not for himself. Soon Jedikiah drops by and takes him under his wing. He gets trained at Ultra under Jedikiah's supervision.

In the present, an old friend of John's, Killian McCrane has started bombing various places. He gets under Ultra's radar, and they try to take him down. They soon realize they can't do it alone and ask John for help. We also learn that John
has a "power" he has been hiding from the others.

Meanwhile, Stephen's mother, Marla, gets suspicious about where he spends his time. She finds a card from Ultra and he tells her that he is working there as an intern to find out more about his father. Marla asks for him to invite Jedikiah over for dinner, so she can talk to him, however the dinner abruptly becomes awkward.
