We returned yesterday with a mega day of voting, a day which saw four very strong performances from Game of Thrones, Buffy, Supernatural and Firefly to put them into the final eight.
Today we find out which of the remaining shows make it into the Quarter Finals, and we have some hum-dinger of battles. We begins with NBC's wickedly dark thriller Hannibal, as it takes on Fox's universe crossing, time travelling enigma that is Fringe. If that doesn't whet your appetite, we follow that up with last years winner, Castle, taking on the third Joss Whedon show to make the final 16, in Angel.
Still not happy? Well we have two cult classics, in Charmed and Stargate SG-1 proving that time doesn't age quality television, with both shows already eliminating the likes of Arrow and Chuck to reach this stage.
If for some unknown reason those first three polls don't tickle your pickle, we have a behemoth of a battle to round out the third stage of the competition. The Nolan/Abrams combination that brought out the espionage thriller Person of Interest, takes on the legend that is Fox's sci-fi spectacle, The X-Files...
For anyone who missed the rules, here they are again:

I don't watch a lot of todays shows, but I loved S1 of Hannibal, and I think it'll need votes against Fringe, so I picked that (I do love S1-3 of Fringe though!)

ReplyDeleteThe way the rankings work is that whichever shows are eliminated in a particular round are ranked by the amount of votes they got in that round... for example LOST lost to Supernatural with 1913 votes whilst Grey's Anatomy lost to Buddy with 992 votes so LOST will end up with a higher ranking...

ReplyDeleteFringe, I mean I like Hannibal but Fringe means more to me. Angel in the second poll though I don't see it doing well with the dominance of Castle fans on this site. SG1 and X-Files in the last two polls.

ReplyDeletethis was a very hard day for me i have watched or watched all of the shows above but after thinking about it i went for Fringe in the first poll , the second poll was very hard but i chose angel even though castles new season is amazing so far , third poll was like an impossible choice for me as both shows i loved growing up but i decided in the end to chose charmed , final poll went for person of interest as its one of my favourites on tv currently.

ReplyDeleteFringe vs. Hannibal - I loved Fringe, so that poll wasn't too hard.
Angel vs Castle - I liked Angel, for the most part; vs. not having watched more than one episode of Castle (although I think I'll probably like Castle, when I do watch it...but probably not love it).
Charmed vs. Stargate SG-1 - I loved both Charmed (before Billie came on and the stories were darker) and Stargate SG-1. However, I actually still loved SG-1 even after newbies came on to replace Richard Dean Anderson, because the writing and storytelling were still interesting to me.
Person of Interest vs. X-Files - I didn't really know how to vote for this poll, because I loved both shows. I loved X-Files when it was on, and even liked the two new agents who replaced Mulder. I didn't really like the storytelling near the end, and the stuff surrounding Mulder's return and trial, but it did bring back several guest stars, which was cool. I've enjoyed every episode of POI so far, and see a lot of potential for that show, so I voted for that one. But, I may change my mind and vote X-Files, if this poll comes up again in the future, after POI wraps as a series, and I get to judge both series as a whole.

ReplyDeleteouch, someone's butthurt here over criticizm. It's her opinion, so let her have it. I don't consider Castle to be stupid, I honestly like it but compared to most shows on this list a crime procedural like Castle doesen't stand a chance in the quality departement.
ReplyDeleteWhy are you complaining about Castle being in theese polls? Castle does not win theese polls because Castle fans vote Castle just to vote Castle(or Stana or Nathan for that matter). Castle wins because it is a stabile show where the quality is in the stories and the fun is in the delicate balance between the dialogue and subtext... aha!... I just realized why some of you dislike Castle...
