The Simpsons is taking a dark turn: The show plans to kill off a regular character this season, executive producer Al Jean told reporters on a recent conference call, according to Canada's The Sun News.
"I'll give you a clue that the actor playing the character won an Emmy for playing that character, but I won't say who it is," Jean reportedly said. The last time the show killed off a regular character was Maude Flanders in 2000.
Nine people have won Emmys for voiceover work on The Simpsons, including the entire main cast, Hank Azaria for his various characters, Kelsey Grammer (Sideshow Bob) and Anne Hathaway (Princess Penelope).
