The Mentalist - Rank the Red John Suspects

2 Oct 2013

With the Red John reveal getting ever closer, I thought it would be interesting to see if SpoilerTV Readers can predict the who Red John will be.

Use the Thumb Up button against all the Suspects you think it could be, and the Thumbs Down for those that you don't believe are Red John.

Let us know in the comments who you voted for and why.

  1. I voted for Stiles. He has the assets (with Visualize) and the cold've hypnotised Jane to get his childhood memory.

  2. Hypnotized Jane? I don't think that's possible. With what the show has established, not everyone could be hypnotized and Jane certainly doesn't seem susceptible.

  3. who desided that Brett Partridge is out of the picture

  4. Partridge died in the season 6 premiere

  5. I think it's a trick

  6. Could be, after all we know Kirkland had plastic surgery so even if there is a body looking like Partridge who says it's really him? Would be the awesomest twist actually.

  7. Bruno Heller after the premiere confirmed that Partridge is DEAD, and I believe him...

However I think RJ is Haffner..

  8. I don't subscribe to the Brett Partridge is faking his death theory, if they go this route then they're basically running out of idea's, it'd cheapen the whole season imo.

With that being said, the list of suspects is pretty bare, reede's a non starter, sheriff mcallister a nod to season one and bertram just doesn't make sense especially considering the season 3 ending imo.

So that leave us with Kirkland and Styles and Haffner.

Kirkland has just been so obvious and odd acting since his intro that i just can't buy him as RJ.

So for me it's either Haffner or Styles, styles because he's the only one that seems capable of being as manipulative as RJ and one of the very few people that seems to be on Jane's level and Haffner because visualise is defintely involved, he fits the description better and it would also explain styles knowing some things relating to RJ without him being RJ himself.

If i was to go out on a limb i'd say Haffner simply because he's physcially a better fit, also he's pretty much the only one i could see Roslind Harker being with.

  9. Ray Haffner the unanimous choice he has the height , build and history of what you'll expect of red john
    Maybe gale Bertram..

  10. I'm still thinking there's chance he's none of the above. Won't be the first time a show runner has lied to the audience.

  11. It wouldn't be the first time Heller has lied to the audience!

  12. Cool survey! *thumbs up to it, first of all*
I think it's Bertram, but Kirkland is not far off. Bertram quoted a William Blake poem in early season 3, he's "many things for many people" (as someone pointed out in another post, a RJ victim in episode 1x11 wrote on the wall, with his on blood, "He is man-") and he has the power and the right age.
However, I do think that most of the other suspects are in the game too (Partridge could have been a minion, and the Tiger tiger quote suggests so).
I've read someone saying it's Jane. Honestly, at this point of the series and with all the information we have, it's a wonder that anyone might even suggest it. And while Bruno Heller has lied to the audience before, Simon Baker and Robin Tunney have both said the Red John storyline will be resolved within the calendar year. So it's a matter of a few episodes and there's not much time to introduce a new suspect.

  13. Am I missing something here? How is Brett Stiles leading with 63 upvotes and 118 downvotes when Haffner has 163 upvotes and 51 downvotes? Am I just too sleep-deprived?

  14. Cool idea!

Voted for Brett Stiles and Ray Haffnerr. Both have the means and the personality/intelligence that fit RJ profile. Both are member of visualize. They are my fave but any suspect could be RJ.

    theory:

Jane isn't entirely honest with Lisbon. Jane's suspect/knows that ALL the suspect on the list are RJ accomplice. Somehow, he let RJ knows about the list.

Jane is playing RJ by making the list going public. Jane told Lisbon, there is no way he didn't knew she would tell the team. He knows her too well.

The list goes public and RJ accomplices are panicking. To save his own bacon, one of them may even be tempted to denounce his boss. Loyalty has his limits. That's why RJ killed Partridge and that's why he will kill others suspects too.

Of course, by doing that, he let Jane get closer to him; but RJ doesn't really have a choice. Jane plan is perfect!

  15. I think the time for tricks and lies is over- at some point, Heller would be losing trust if there's nothing we can actually believe. So I tend to trust him in things he says definitively... I think Partridge is dead.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Well, that's true. But: for me, Heller would cheapen his whole plot and do nothing but waste time with this list if Red John is not on it. I might be the only one feeling that way, but I would find that very "meh". So I trust this list- and hope that he's NOT lying.

  17. Hehe,Rosalind Parker is the reason why i couldn't imagine Partridge as RJ. ^^ Idk, his voice sounds like the voice RJ is using....but if that is his real voice...would you find that attractive? (Rhetorical Q) XD

    ReplyDelete
  18. I don't think it will be anyone obvious like Stiles or Bertram or Kirkland. It has to be one of the other three.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I think RJ is Ray Haffner but Reede Smith and Thomas McAllister are strong candidates, as well. Gale Bertram and Brett Stiles are too old and Bob Kirkland is too obvious.

  20. when will we find out who is red john end of this year or end of season ?

    ReplyDelete
  21. before the end of 2013

    ReplyDelete
  22. Didn't vote for ant as I don't think it's any of them.

  23. Red John is : Teresa Lisbon :)

  24. oh my god that's my theorie too it's just like you're reading in my mind

    ReplyDelete
  25. Can you recall other times he has lied if so when?

    ReplyDelete
  26. It was actually He is Mar so that leaves that clue open

    ReplyDelete
  27. We never really knew if it was an R or an N, the whole point is that he stopped right there. So the clue, as you say, could still be open.

  28. If Kirkland is Jane's father I want his plastic surgeon. Not only he looks different but about 20 years younger, and so natural...

And by the way, Kirkland already looked like Kirkland 10 years ago.

I think your theory is way off. We still need to know about the happy memory, that's true. But to think that Jane's dad is one of the suspects post plastic surgery doesn't make much sense.

I might have read it, if you would have use enter key >.<

  30. I guess we'll see soon enough. TBH this is just a stab in the dark theory, because I truly have no idea.

I think that RED JOHN is not a person is a group, like a cult..It began from the Stiles cult as we know. That is the only way to explain it.RJ is a lot of things,he is a leader,a do-er,he is physical capable he is intelligent and he is charismatic so much that well educated people of stature and education follows him.So some of the caracters above have one but no the other, they maybe be strong but not smart enough, they maybe smart but not carismatic enough. So i think they are members of a cult inin which leader is Patric himself.
