That's the BIG question! I think that this basically proves Kirkland is not RJ. Why would he need the list if he was? Actually I had already ruled him out because the guy he killed in the hospital last season knew RJ, but didn't recognize Kirkland. Question is now, why did Kirkland kill him? Hopefully in this episode we'll find out!
I agree. He can't be Red John or even an accomplice because then he wouldn't need Jane's list since he would already know who RJ is. I think he is hunting for RJ himself. It may even be for private reason such as his family was murdered by RJ as well or something and that is why he takes extreme measures to finally get to him. That would also explain, why he killed the man in the hospital. He wants to eliminate everyone RJ has ever "dealt" with.
