My point exactly. I don't believe Will is going to offer either, but what if he did? Alicia is in a far worse position than the 4th years, because she is a partner at Lockhart Gardner, and being forced to say she's leaving when being offered the name on the door would not only damage her professional relationship with Will, it would probably break his heart (again). He'd loose his partner, his friend and the love of his life, all at once. God, I love the drama!
It looks like things are going fast, that David Lee and Will are gonna figure out that Alicia and the 4th year are leaving before they actually leave(hence the drama and Will destroying alicia's desk), question is, will he ask her to become a name partner before they find out? For that to happen they'd have to get rid of Diane pretty fast and I think they're gonna find out about the 4th year's plan before that, if you can follow my reasoning.
Yeah, I follow, and I don't even think Will get to offer her the name on the door. IMO, the timeline will be: a) Diane's interview is published, so Will and all partners go bananas; b) partners try to push Diane out; c) David Lee finds out Alicia and the 4th years are leaving; d) Will destroys Alicia's desk e) everyone goes bananas, Diane leaves, 4th years and Alicia leave. In other words, all bombs will go off at the same time and Will won't have time to think.
Your timeline is perfect. It' s pretty clear that they find out before they actually leave. I can't wait to see them in court opposite each other. What I'm still wondering is whether Diane is gonna get that judge job, even if Peter was pretty clear that he wanted her, does he actually get to choose?
I think she will, because Peter does get to choose. He didn't WANT to nominate someone without the Chief Justice's approval, but he CAN. Besides, her relationship with Will is very damaged atm, staying at Lockhart Gardner wouldn't be an option. And, most importantly, writers need to switch things up. Imagine how awesome would it be to have Will versus Alicia, Diane presiding. The show needs these new situations.
That would be the dream episode but don't you think that would call for a conflict of interest? I think Diane has been more loyal to will than any partner would have been especially david lee who would sell his mother to the devil if it gave him more power. Will is the bad guy here (IMO) and yet he's playing the victim and he's trying to get rid of her? He's forgetting how she supported him when david lee wanted him out!
Yes, but what if he offers her the name partnership AFTER he destroys her desk? It could be a spur-of-the-moment emotional decision in an attempt to keep her in the firm (and in his life).
We know for sure that "Will makes Alicia a stunning offer which causes her to reconsider her plans to leave the firm in The Good Wife Season 5 Episode 3 “A Precious Commodity”" - http://www.spoilersguide.com/the-good-wife/season-5-episode-3-a-precious-commodity-promo/
In the real world, probably, but still, she could argue that both counsels were her co-workers, she is not a partner in any of their law firms anymore and therefore has her full independency. It's even more credible if the case has no relation to former Lockhart Gardner clients (it could be new clients on both sides). But I'm not familiar with Illinois law on the matter, I might be completely wrong.
Oh, I don't think Will is the bad guy either. I don't think anyone is the bad guy, actually, it's just a very complicated situation on all sides.
What i think is that if The 4th year take the major clients and diane leaves, with WIll as the sole name partner, the firm is dead, especially since kalinda might end up leaving(because let's face it, even if there's less money at the new firm at first she'll jump ship as soon as she finds out that they're taking all the major clients). Will can't lead alone, not even with david lee, he needs diane, that's why they worked well together, he's good in court, and she's good as a leader
Possible. Very possible. But I'm trying to think of a reason why Alicia would not agree to have her name on the door and there's only ONE: she can't be around Will any longer (which is, btw, the reason she agreed to Cary's offer in the first place). And I honestly think that if she used that card, Will would agree and let her go. It would break his heart, but he would, because he KNOWS that keeping her around makes everything harder on both of them, as long as she's with Peter. [omg, I need to leave this website NOW, i gotta study]
I think that's exactly what will happen. And then he will finally try to move on, which would explain the blonde he's with in the "Look Ahead" promo.
On the other hand, Will, Diane and Alicia won't be co-workers, but they would keep running into each other in court. So my guess is that Alicia's plan to get away from Will will backfire in more than one way.
I totally agree with ur timeline...I think that Will is going to make the offer in the next episode...IMO Alicia will never tell the real reason why she's leaving or why she can't accept whatever offer Will is going to make...otherwise, this season wouldn't be like a "civil war" as the Writers said. But I'm pretty sure it will come out eventually at some point....

Oh jesus, this is so awesome. What if Will asks Alicia to be name partner with him and David Lee? WHAT THEN?!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh! Diane is being pushed out? that is going to be interesting especially with the NSA doing a three hop now!
ReplyDeleteAwsome season from an awsome serie. and, Will... couldnt be so SEXY
ReplyDeleteI don't think that's gonna happen but whether it happens or not Alicia will be leaving....
