SUPERNATURAL
"Bad Boys" - (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET) (Content Rating TBD) (HDTV)
YOUNG DEAN - Dean (Jensen Ackles) gets a call from an old friend named Sonny (guest star Blake Gibbons) asking for help with a ghost. Sonny runs a home for delinquent boys, and Dean was sent there for stealing food when he was younger. Sam (Jared Padalecki) is stunned he never knew this about his brother and asks for more information, but Dean dodges his questions. Another murder occurs while Sam and Dean are at the house, so they scramble to find the culprit before anyone else dies. Meanwhile, Dean looks up an old girlfriend (guest star Erin Karpluk) and recalls his time at the house. Kevin Parks directed the episode written by Adam Glass (905).

ReplyDeleteOH!!!Extended synopsis :D
ReplyDeleteMy guess
ReplyDeleteThe Home theme continues
This was the first time since the fire that Dean felt like he had a home the reason he doesn't want to talk to Sam about it is because he feels guilty because he liked it their and wanted to stay but that would have meant no more dad and Sam which is something Dean would never do. So he gave up what to him felt like a home and a family and went back to his 'duty' of being a hunter and a Winchester.
Thats just a theory but it would make sense as to why Dean has always been so easy to accept the idea of home, why he may have some resentment towards Sam every time he's tried to have a home, why John wanted to end Yellow Eyes so Dean could finally have a home.
But obviously the reason why all those attempts at home for him have never lasted and the reason why the MOL bunker for Dean feels like home finally? Because its THEIRS (throw back to season 9 episode 4) its finally a home Dean sees as being both of theirs, a home together.
I was guessing that the secret Dean was keeping had to do with him wanting to leave the life for some reason. Like maybe this girlfriend he met in the group home asked him to run away with her and he was seriously considering it. It would make sense for him to feel guilty about wanting to run away with her, because that would mean leaving Sam behind. Like you said, at that age he might have held some resentment towards both John and Sam, John for leaving all the time and Sam because he had to take care of him. Of course he would ultimately choose to go back to his duty of being a Winchester though, because of how selfless he is. He will always sacrifice his own happiness for his loved ones any day. That's just my theory though.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for this episode! I have a feeling it's going to be a good one. I'm actually interested to meet this girlfriend, who I presume is Robin. I can tell this episode is going to be an emotional one. I need to stack up on my tissues!
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to this one more than any of the previous or future episodes so far. And I get to see a young Dean, major plus.
ReplyDeleteI wonder why Dean won't talk about it?. Like some mentioned he could of felt like it was home and wanted to stay but it could be the opposite and saw something supernaturally happen.
ReplyDeleteIf Dean won't talk about that, it doesn't say much for his relationship with Sam. He and Sam have already had this type of conversation before, about Cassie. Admittedly that was when Sam was already grown and had moved to Stanford, but I don't think it's something he would be reticent to talk about, unless it's just so painful he can't deal with the memory.
ReplyDeleteI'd be more interested if it's about abuse at juvie, or if Dean and/or the other boys had to kill someone.
I just hope she isn't killed off.
ReplyDeleteErin Karpluk was in Salvation...who was she? Was she the young mother Sam stopped in the street because he had visions of her on the ceiling?
ReplyDeleteShe was also on Being Erica, which Soapnet was heavily pushing for a while (it's from Canada I guess).
Right, the conversation he had with Sam before was moot because he was already away at Stanford by that point. Finding out that he had thought about leaving while they were still kids though, that would be something Dean would really feel guilty about. It's just a theory though, there's no confirmation of this whatsoever.
ReplyDeleteIf it is about some sort of abuse, that's a pretty heavy topic and it would make sense for Dean not to want to talk about that. But for some reason I'm thinking it has something to do with this girl Robin. Don't ask me why, I just have a feeling.
It seems a little strange that Sam wouldn’t know Dean had been sent away for a time. If Dean was old enough to have a girlfriend (12 and older0, why wouldn’t Sam be old enough to know Dean had been sent away? Was he living somewhere else at the time? If so, who was he living with? Bobby? Pastor Jim? How long was Dean away? A week? A month? Where was John? It just seems weird that Sam didn't know this.
ReplyDeletePlus, why wouldn’t Dean discuss this w/Sam? What’s the big deal? Very odd.
But I could see Sam understanding Dean's feelings. Sam never liked the life. He would understand Dean's desire to get out of that life.
