I suppose there is a difference between being mortal who could get killed but also die of old age or a disease and immortal being. And he needs to face it now
Lol, I get what you're saying, but I think what Cas means is he's going to die a human death. Before, he was immortal. He had been alive for millions of years by the time he met the Winchesters. If he hadn't been killed in all manner of supernatural ways after that, he would have lived forever. And, even then, it was beginning to seem like death was impossible for him, since he kept getting brought back. As a human, whether he gets killed tomorrow or lives for another 60 years, he's still going to die one day, no matter what he does. Possibly for good. Confronting mortality, as someone who was once the epitome of immortal, is a heady thing, no matter how you slice it.
Then again, maybe Cas just picked up on Dean's teachings and finally realized what the whole Last Night On Earth speech is all about ;)
Yeah, he's died a lot. After Season 5 I started thinking he would die in every finale episode as a tradition. :P
But for the promo quote I'm pretty sure it's Cas really realizing what mortality, being human, means. That he will die eventually. If not from an attack, from old age. Since he's been immortal up until now that's a big deal. He's died before, but those were supernatural deaths and he kept being brought back by God. Not sure God would do anything now that he's human.
Seriously guys don't you think it's kinda weird for a guy that has bit it at least once every year (season 4 = killed by Raphael, season 5 = killed by Lucifer, season 7 = killed by the Leviathan, season 7 = died with Dick...that does count, you have to die to get to Purgatory, so he technically DID die) to say that it has 'occured' to him that he's going to die one day ?
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
