Hey All,
A few days ago we released a widescreen version of the site for anyone running a browser screen over 1500px. We had a lot a great feedback on this.
We also receive a lot of related feedback from users who were running on small laptops, notebooks, netbooks and other screens.
As a result we're pleased to announce a compact version of the site for users who run at browser widths less than 1000px.
The new compact version has the following features/changes.
- Overall reduced screen width
- Reduced Banner
- More compact menu text and menu sections
- The previous Sidebar section is now shown below the main section (This includes Labels, Search, Popular Articles, Recent Comments etc)
There will no doubt be a number of little bugs or layout issues that we might have missed as this is the first version.
If you have any suggestions about how the compact version can be improved or if you find any layout bugs please let us know in the comments below.
As you know we love to hear your thoughts and opinions and we really do read every suggestions and criticism in order to make the site as best we can.
Great idea Andy, using the site on netbooks can sometimes be an pain.
ReplyDeleteYep, I get so use to my widescreen monitor that I forget that people still run at these smaller resolutions and on smaller netbooks ;)
ReplyDeleteGlad you like it.
Amazing work whoever's been working on this code (DarkUFO yourself??), I love that it's so intelligent that even zooming in an out can make the changes happen, super great stuff!
ReplyDeleteThanks @afanc , yep I'm doing it myself ;) with a bit of trial and error lol
ReplyDeleteThis works really well on my laptop. Thanks for this Andy - it was becoming a real pain when I could only see up to Cable (A-H) when I'm on the correct size zoom.
ReplyDeleteNo worries :) Glad you find it helpful.
ReplyDeleteGreat work man. ..The mobile version is already awesome
ReplyDeleteThanks, glad you like it ;)
ReplyDeleteFantastic work. It's now perfect on my laptop and on my widescreen desktop. Appreciate your dedication DarkUFO!
ReplyDeleteThanks @Setheriel for the great feedback, glad you like it ;)
ReplyDeletestill doesnt work for me :p but I dont mind
ReplyDeleteDid you reduce the width of your browser window?
ReplyDeleteWhat browser and version are you using?
I'm not sure anything has changed or if I'm just noticing now, but I have to say that the site is looking particularly spiffing on my ipad right now. Very shiny and neat and clear!
ReplyDeleteHa, it depends what resolution your ipad browser runs at ;)
ReplyDeletehow do u use it
ReplyDeleteunless its automatic? if so it won't work for me since I have a widescreen monitor
ReplyDeleteIt's activated automatically once your browser width goes below 1000px wide
ReplyDeleteJust wondering.. is there an option to customize our viewing of SpoilerTV wherein all the news of the shows we choose are compiled in one screen or feed? :D
ReplyDeleteHi redwall64 Yes, we have the SpoilerTV Dashboard
ReplyDeleteYou can read about it here

Also, if you use the Google Chrome Browser you can use the SpoilerTV Extension that allows you to be alerted when any of the show(s) of your choice have a new post. You can see details on the Extension here

There it is. Thanks!!
ReplyDeleteI love the extension on Chrome, but I use FF most of the time, any chance it will be coming to FF soon?
ReplyDeleteVery unlikely sorry, I don't have any experience in writing Firefox extensions and I simply don't have the time to learn, write and maintain another one.
ReplyDeleteWell heck, didn't hurt to ask, I do love this site and visit here more than any other.
ReplyDeleteHa thanks, I wish I had the time and money to do more things, but we have try and prioritize things to make the best of both.
ReplyDeleteIs there any reason you're using FF more than Chrome? Just interested.
I use firefox. 24.0 I dont know how to :P
ReplyDeleteIf you drag the edge of your browser to reduce the width once if goes below 1000px it should then automatically resize
ReplyDeleteKind of like you, just don't have the time to really learn Chrome and I am used to FF. I have been very busy with my orphan baby squirrels and feeding every 2 or 3 hours takes a toll. One of the "kids" came in at 8 grams(flying squirrel) he is now at 16 grams. He is doing great, but I am like a zombie. :)
ReplyDeleteI did just buy a Chromebook and am loving it, so maybe I will change over at some point. ;)
Ha cool about the squirrels :)
ReplyDeleteYep, I've got a chromebook as well. Really nice device that I'm using more and more when not working on the site. I used to be a huge FF fan before Chrome came along, never looked back. So many great extensions available for it ;)
