A weekly feature in which we're trying to find most compelling, best acted, written, directed and just generally great scenes that we've seen recently.
AMERICAN HORROR STORY: COVEN, "The Replacements", October 23, 2013, Actor: Kathy Bates
The Scene: Madame LaLaurie listens to President's speech
Christopher Reilly: Madame LaLaurie reacts with disbelief and horror when watching President Obama make a speech. Her insistence that the magic box was telling liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiies was a riot of a moment played to the hilt by Kathy Bates.
ARROW, "Broken Dolls", October 23, 2013, Actors: Katie Cassidy, Paul Blackthorne, Caity Lotz and others
The Scenes: Laurel tells her dad Tommy's death is her fault & Quentin talks to the Arrow about grief and guilt & The reveal that Black Canary is being hunted by Ra’s Ah Ghul
Bradley Adams: Laurel admits it was her fault that Tommy died. Her ignorance towards this fact in the opening two episodes annoyed me, so I'm glad she's finally realised it. Also picked by Daniel van der Veer
A Dahne: Quentin talks about how grief and guilt impacts himself, Laurel, and the Hood - Since I couldn't simply say every scene with Quetin (minus Laurel) in the episode, I chose this one slightly over Quentin on the phone with the Dollmaker. I love how it showed how the 3 characters were connected and proved that Quentin was smarter about the Hood than Oliver gave him credit for. Mostly though, it was great to get more back story on Quentin in the months directly following Sara's "death". I love that we finally got a Quentin-centric episode.
Christopher Reilly: The reveal that the mysterious Black Canary is being hunted by Ra’s Ah Ghul and the League of Assassins. I like how they’ve been developing the Black Canary story so far and, as a big, lifetime Batman fan, very curious to see how they incorporate Ra’s into her arc.
HART OF DIXIE, "Take This Job and Shove It", Oct. 21, 2013, Actors: Rachel Bilson, Jaime King, Tim Matheson
The Scenes: Lemon's "first meeting of the revolution" & Brick and Zoe's heartfelt talk
Virginia Fontana: Lemon's "first meeting of the revolution." Nothing short of adorably hilarious.
Tracie Pontolillo: Brick and Zoe's heartfelt talk where they reached an agreement for Zoe to return to the practice. It was a great moment to show how far Zoe and Brick have come in their relationship.
HAVEN, "Lay Me Down", October 25, 2013, Actors: Emily Rose, Lucas Bryant
The Scene: Nathan tells Audrey he loves her
Klutzy Girl: After Audrey and Nathan get into an argument, he returns and tells her loves her. Then they kiss. It was exciting! I'm glad they're finally getting somewhere.
HOMELAND, "Game On", October 20, 2013, Actors: Claire Danes, Mandy Patinkin
The Scene: End Scene with Carrie and Saul (picked by DarkUFO and Sharon Seymour)
HOSTAGES, "Truth and Consequences", October 21, 2013, Actors: Toni Collette, Dylan McDermott
The Scene: Ellen digs 'her' grave
Daniel van der Veer: A beautiful scene between Duncan and Ellen where Duncan revealed a dark secret from Ellen's past. Toni Collette acted this wonderfully, and really showed the emotions and layers of her character while she continues to dig 'her' own grave.
HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, "Knight Vision", October 21, 2013, Actors: Alyson Hannigan, Jason Segel
The Scene: Lily steals Barney and Robin's "how we met story"
Pablozky21: Seriously, seeing Lily play as Robin and Marshall as Barney in this pilot callback was utterly amazing; I couldn't stop laughing while watching how Lily recreated the whole story.
NCIS, "Once a Crook", October 22, 2013, Actors: Mark Harmon, Michael Weatherly, Augustus Prew
The Scene: Tony's talk to Gibbs about Ziva & Tony talks with Anton Markin (referring to Ziva)
Bradley Adams: Tony talks to Gibbs about how no one was saying Ziva's name. That was a good scene. Sad reminder.
Daniel van der Veer: Tony never said her name in the scene (no one did actually, a fact Tony referred to earlier in the episode), but you just knew that he was talking about her. Markin said: "Just 'cause you want something, doesn't mean it's gonna happen." Tony replied by saying that doesn't stop him from trying, obviously referring to Ziva.
ONCE UPON A TIME, "Nasty Habits", October 20, 2013, Actors: Michael Raymond-James, Robert Carlyle
The Scene: Neal parts ways with his father
Justyna Kubica: First of all, I have to admit that after watching this episode I took a closer look at both Neal/Bae and Rumple and I realized that those two have probably one of the most interesting relationships on the show. And it's why I enjoy their interactions (both past and present) so much. Neal's story is a very tragic one, one of the saddest on the show if you ask me. Sure, he made his own mistakes, like everyone else, but it's hard for me not to feel bad for him most of the time, especially when he talks to his father. In "Nasty Habits" we get to see couple of great scenes between the two and it's hard to pick the best one. I really enjoyed when little Bae told Rumple that, despite everything, if he actually had a little faith in him and asked him to leave Pan he would. He would still pick his papa and try to mend their relationship. But my very favorite moment is the scene right after this one, where Rumple is trying to convince Neal he's changed and wants to save Henry, not hurt him. I have to say, "You're my happy ending" line broke my heart at this point. It also reminded me of Walter and Peter from Fringe, which made it even more painful and so incredibly sad. I can't say I blame Neal for not trusting his papa, he was hurt by him too many times, but I really wish that one day, something between them could change and they both get a second chance and a happy ending with the people they love. Also, I have to say: Robert Carlyle was absolutely amazing in the scene and the episode in general. He and Michael Raymond-James work so well together. I can't wait to see more scenes between them.
ONCE UPON A TIME IN WONDERLAND, "Forget Me Knot", October 24, 2013, Actors: Michael Socha, Emma Rigby
The Scene: Anastasia is revealed to be The Red Queen
Darth Locke: The Knave's former love interest, Anastasia, is revealed to be none other than The Red Queen!
PERSON OF INTEREST, "Razgovor", October 22, 2013, Actors: Sarah Shahi, Amy Acker, Danielle Kotch
The Scenes: Root shows up at Shaw's loft & Shaw parts ways with Gen
Bradley Adams: Root is shown to be standing over Shaw's bed. Nearly gave me a heart attack in shock. Loved it.
Darth Locke: Shaw parts ways with Gen. Also picked by DarkUFO and Sharon Seymour
REVENGE, "Mercy", October 20, 2013, Actors: Henry Czerny, Emily VanCamp and others
The Scene: Conrad destroys his pills in front of everyone
Pablozky21: The fact that he found out so soon that he wasn't sick raised the stakes a lot; not only he escaped from death, now he also escaped from one of his punishment, and the look on Emily's face when she sees that her plan had backfire was priceless.
REVOLUTION, "One Riot, One Ranger", October 23, 2013, Actors: David Lyons, Billy Burke, Jim Beaver, Tracy Spiridakos
The Scenes: Charlie and Miles reunite & Monroe kills the Texas Ranger
Klutzy Girl: Charlie and Miles reunite. Their hug was cute, and I am so glad they're in the same place again.
Darth Locke: Monroe kills the Texas Ranger. Also picked by Sharon Seymour
SUPERNATURAL, "I'm No Angel", October 22, 2013, Actors: Misha Collins, Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles
The Scene: Cas reveals he had sex with April
Klutzy Girl: I loved Sam and Dean's reaction to this news.
THE BIG BANG THEORY, "The Romance Resonance", October 24, 2013, Actors: Simon Helberg, Melissa Rauch
The Scene: Howard sings the song he wrote for Bernadette
A Dahne: I like TBBT but it rarely has scenes that grip me. In this episode, Howard writes a beautiful song to Bernadette to commemorate their first date. It was awesomely geeky and heartfelt too. It is also my most replayed scene this week.
Christopher Reilly: Howard writes and sings a song for Bernadette to commemorate the anniversary of their first date. I thought it sounded cheesy when Howard first floated the idea to the gang early in the episode, but it was the sweetest scene I’ve seen in ages and the song was really fun.
THE GOLDBERGS, "The Ring", October 22, 2013, Actors: Wendi McLendon-Covey, Jeff Garlin
The Scene: Beverly watches the tape from Murray
A Dahne: Beverly watches the tape showing all the ways Murray lets her know he loves her. -One of the things I like best about The Goldbergs is that it always combines laughs with heart. Comedies rarely do that these days. This montage was a great reminder that sometimes it is the little things that really do count. Great way to end the episode.
THE MENTALIST, "Red Listed", October 20, 2013, Actors: Kevin Corrigan, Drew Powell
The Scene: The ending with Kirkland's death
Virginia Fontana: The ending, with the reveal of who's involved with the law enforcement conspiracy who use the catchphrase "tyger tyger." Somehow, in the enormity of the conspiracy and wondering if Red John is their ruler, I actually felt bad for Kirkland by comparison!
THE ORIGINALS, "Girl in New Orleans", October 22, 2013, Actors: Joseph Morgan, Leah Pipes
The Scene: Klaus makes Cami forget things about her brother's death
Justyna Kubica: I had a hard time picking my third favorite scene, since there were so many great ones on TV this week (on Arrow, Person Of Interest, etc.) but most of them were included here by other members of the team, so ended up choosing this one. Honestly I have to admit, I didn't really expect to like this show, considering how much I don't like Klaus, but I really do enjoy watching it each week. For the first time, in this episode, I actually found Cami quite an interesting character. Her story about her twin brother was so heartbreaking. Pointless, brutal deaths that appeared to have no reason. Until Cami learned about the existence of vampires and the possibility that it wasn't actually her beloved brother's fault that this tragedy occurred. Hope is a very powerful thing and it can keep you going for a very long time. And it's hope that Klaus took away from this poor bartender, her memories and doubts, a need to find truth. And he did it for his own sake, to use her, just like he usually does. It's just such a powerful moment. To see Cami screaming at him, not to take "this" away from her, knowing he won't listen. Powerful performances by both actors. I was impressed by how much I cared and how bad I felt for Camille.
THE VAMPIRE DIARIES, "For Whom the Bell Tolls", October 24, 2013, Actors: Ian Somerhalder, Steven R. McQueen, Kat Graham and others
The Scene: Jeremy tells Damon about Bonnie's death & Bonnie's memorial
Justyna Kubica: I felt so bad for Jeremy this season, even more than I usually do (the guy has such a heartbreaking story!), so I really wanted him to share this painful secret with someone. And it seems like he picked a right person. I like how much the relationship between Jeremy and Damon has changed this year, especially since both of them are among my favorite characters on the show. And in this powerful and very sad moment, Jeremy decides to tell him that Bonnie's dead, even though she doesn't want him to and I love the way Damon's expression changes the second he begins to realize what Gilbert is trying to tell him. And his refusal to accept the truth is both surprising and quite devastating to be honest. It's hard to learn that the one person you and everyone else is counting on is gone and is not coming back to help. Especially since the relationship between Bonnie and Damon was also getting better lately, they even acted pretty friendly sometimes. Anyway, I'm glad he hugged Jeremy, it feels like they needed that. And both actors were great in the scene. Kudos!
Virginia Fontana: Bonnie's memorial, especially when Tyler showed up. Tyler hasn't been there for Caroline this season, and I'm a Klaroline shipper anyway, but still, the rush of emotion she felt at seeing Tyler at that moment was palpable and tear-inducing.
THE WALKING DEAD, "Infected", October 20, 2013, Actors: Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus
The Scene: Rick and Daryl sacrifice the pigs (picked by DarkUFO)

THE AHS SCENE!
ReplyDeleteThat scene was so funny
Honorable mentions:
ReplyDeleteThe NCIS scenes listed. I love that Tony is still dealing with Ziva leaving.
AHS: The "liessssssssssss" scene is now iconic and I love it so much.
OUAT in Wonderland: The Anastasia/Red Queen reveal. Honestly didn't see it coming.
Homeland - Last Scene
ReplyDeleteThe Good Wife - Elsbeth Tascioni & Diane Lockhart (I can't pick just onemoment)
HIMYM switching love stories, OUAT Neal leaves his father and TBBT the song these were all wonderful moments.
ReplyDeletePOI: Carter takes control!
ReplyDeleteIt's not listed, but 'B&B's vows' was my favorite.
ReplyDeletefrom the list: BBT - Howard's song
ReplyDeleteother:
SPN: Dean's reaction to Cas' death
Bones - wedding
Crap, I forgot about that! Yes, I loved them so much.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen White Collar yet. Thanks to you i will watch it right now ! this scene looks like great^^
ReplyDeleteI'm a bit surprised it's not listed.
ReplyDeleteVoted Homeland and Other. The other is for The Wrong Mans, the whole show has taken me by surprise tbh, I'm not a James Corden fan at all but I do love Mat Baynton which is why I started the show in the first place. It just gets better and better each week, how such a dark show can be so humorous amazes me really.
ReplyDeleteThe scene that I liked best was at the end when they thought they had got away from the spies only for a helicopter and vehicles filled with various sharp shooting enemies appeared from nowhere. It's the finale on Tuesday and I can't wait to see how they get out of this one!
IMHO, one of the best scenes of the week is Nashville - Rayne sings on stage for the first time after her accident. Other scenes listed in the poll TBBT - Howard sings to Bernadette and OUAT - Neal takes Henry and leaves his dad.
ReplyDeleteHonorable Mentions - SPN - the last ten minutes or so - Zeke saving Cas, Dean lying to everyone about it, and Cas's talk with the boys
White Collar - Mozzie coming back and helping Diana through child labor and Diana naming her son Theo.
The Originals - Klaus compels Cami to forget her realization that a vampire had controlled her brother. Very powerful and emotional scene.
ReplyDeleteVampire Diaries - Jeremy telling Damon Bonnie's dead and Damon hugging him. The Memorial was so sad and also a great scene. I also liked it when Elena was showing Stefan how to jump on the roof.
OUAT - Rumple and Neal reunite, and the scene where Neal parts ways from him.
Person of Interest - Shaw parts with Gen. I like how at the last minute Shaw hugs her and how Gen says she can feel emotion but it's just dialed down on low.
Revolution - Charlie and Miles reunite.
Arrow- Quentin talks to Arrow about grief and Laurel says Tommy's death is her fault.
Honestly, I would changed one of my options if I had remembered, but there was so much TV this week I somehow forgot and I'm not sure how. LOL.
ReplyDeleteI went with Howard's song to Bernadette on TBBT. What made it super sweet was that the whole gang didn't hesitate when he asked for backup, and they were there behind him. My second choice would be the Madame LaLaurie/Obama scene. I do think Madame is warming to the idea, though, and showing some trust in Queenie.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe I forgot about Bones! It was amazing!
ReplyDeleteHart of Dixie ! Love Lemon's rebellion !
ReplyDeleteThe Vampire Diaries like every week ^^
The end of The Mentalist was also great
And bones wedding finally !
I voted for Homeland and Person of Interest. When Carrie ( or Kari? ) walks onto the patio,i first thought she was going there just to confront Saul, but when she said 'she did it' and collapsed into Saul's arms, wow what a surprise for me.I didn't see that coming, and it was welcomed! I was getting a little tired of the way the story was going...
ReplyDeletePoI: Root surprising Shaw! Amy is a joy to watch! Yep,i know,i say that all the time.
No mention of The Blacklist? I thought 'we need to talk' left us with a good cliffhanger.
Yeah I liked that scene, when she is telling her partner that she knew the moment she met him that he was working for HR. I kind of figured she knew and that he was clueless her knowing the truth.
ReplyDeleteCan anyone nominate a scene of the week?
ReplyDeleteThe scenes are nominated by the SpoilerTV Team and Writers, but anyone can post a comment about their favourites :)
ReplyDeleteThe scenes for this article can only be picked by SpoilerTV team members.
ReplyDeleteMasters of Sex: Finding out more about William Masters disturbing past, Masters listening to the tape, the dinner party...... ok, the entire episode.
ReplyDeleteI also voted for The Walking Dead and The Originals.
Ahh, okay thanks guys :) @LittleDreamer
ReplyDeleteMy honorable mentions:
ReplyDeleteBlacklist - Red's assistant confirms there is an adversary Red is pursuing
Blacklist - "We need to talk."
SHIELD - Ward and Skye play Battleship
Person of Interest - Carter says they need to protect Jen over her own vengence
Person of Interest - Most awkward hug on the planet
Wonderland - Will's reveal as Will Scarlett and Anastasia's reveal as the Red Queen
Arrow - Quentin's phone conversation with the Dollmaker - very powerful
Tomorrow People - Astrid sees Stephen teleport
White Collar - learning Mozzie's real name
White Collar - Mozzie helps Diana give birth to Theo
Grimm - Zombie Nick throws the gun at his own reflection
I like that they have given her a central storyline. Now if only they could find a real story for Fusco.
ReplyDeleteI loved the gang backing Howard up but I also loved how much Howard has changed. He was my least favorite character for a long time and this just reminded me of how he has changed the most.
ReplyDeleteso many great moments and scenes this week. makes me teary eyed. but my most fav remains klaus cami scene. her begging him not to compel her and klaus still compelling her to forget her brother and the tears in both of theirs eyes. klaus never wanted to do this and the tears showed how much he hated it but still had to do t! what a powerful moment and great performance by both. wow.
ReplyDeletealso another fav scene from The Originals is Klaus getting concerned for hayley and promising he will haunt the witches who hurt her and also when he said i got you love.. i got you" :') swoon worthy moment. they may not b in romantic relationship but for of theirs mutual bond and understanding for the sake of their unborn child is heartwarming :')
my 2nd most fav moment comes in OUAT bae/rumpelstinskin heart to heart after they get henry. Rumpel begging bae to stay and trying to convice him that he is his happy ending. omg. it was such a tearful moment :'( rumpe/bae has most complicated relationship in this show. its heartbreakin
also tomorrow people. entire Cara's backstory specially when she had to part ways with her little sister. soo heartbreakin
ReplyDeleteHe has changed. Raj has changed, too, and I'm glad that whole, can't talk to women plot line has been retired. The one who hasn't changed is Sheldon, and he's my least favorite character.
ReplyDeleteI liked that moment with Hayley, Klaus and Rebekah too. And their reactions to Elijah making contact :)
ReplyDeleteRaj is a big improvement too. I agree that over the years Sheldon has become more annoying than anything. No one should be able to not only stay at the same level of cluelessness for all these years, but to actually become more clueless as the show progresses. Time for Sheldon to get some character growth as well.
ReplyDeleteAmerican Horror Story:Coven - The final scene, Cordelia's scene with Marie Laveau, Misty Day's scene with 'Sara' playing, and Madame LaLaurie reacts to news of Obama's presidency.
ReplyDeleteThe Big Bang Theory: Howard's song for Bernadette, it was just precious. The scene with Penny showing Leonard the box of things she saved is a close second.
ReplyDeleteScandal: Jake, Huck & Olivia at her house, trying to figure out whatever the hell it is they were trying to figure out! :P Love the developing 'bromance' between Huck & Jake.
I agree and so does Amy.
ReplyDeleteCriminal Minds; Hotch & Haley dream sequence
ReplyDeleteHonorable Mention:
ReplyDeleteDROP DEAD DIVA, "Guess Who's Coming", Oct. 27, 2013. Actor: Sharon Lawrence
The Scene: Bobbi Dobkins is on the stand defending herself against sex solicitation.
In the middle of being questioned by the DA, her "G-spot" procedure has an unexpected side effect - spontaneous orgasms!
Her orgasm scene might have rivaled the famous "When Harry Met Sally" scene - it was that funny!!
Loved the scene. I felt so sorry for her but I flashed back to 'Sally' in the deli from "When Harry Met Sally" you're right, the scene was hysterical. Sharon delivered a fantastic scene.
ReplyDeleteWOW
ReplyDeleteI cracked up laughing. It was so funny when she leaned back on the stand and grabbed her chest. LOL Drop Dead Diva never ceases to entertain and amaze me. Absolutely LOVE this show!!! My entire family enjoys and watches it!
ReplyDeleteDROP DEAD DIVA, "Guess Who's Coming", Oct. 27, 2013. Spontaneous orgasms...I think that explains it all lol. Sharon Lawrence in court explaining how she ended up accidentally soliciting an undercover cop for sex. Absolutely priceless!

Also, thanks everyone for the last article. It got a little crazy at some point (as in fandom wars) but we all survived and I loved that so many people got involved in it.
In case you missed it the poll ended today with these results:
The Vampire Diaries - Damon tells Elena she's his life - 27.17% (1,644 votes)

So I guess it's congrats to all the fans! :)
Criminal minds was worthy of mention too, that scene Hotch saw Haley in the theater and the rush of emotion was heartbreaking, a glance to the magnificent episode 100.
ReplyDeleteAlso in Supernatural, those scenes with Cas in the Chinese district was overwhelming, the desperation and lost you could see in Cas...
