Conflicted Protagonist You Still Root (or Rooted) for
Rick Grimes does not belong in that list at all. Compared to some other guys you have in there he is a saint. In the normal world, he was a cop. He is also a pretty good guy for someone who is living the apocalyptic world I would say. He just needs to survive and most of the times he doesn't even act that way.
ReplyDeleteNot quite sure I get this, as the list seems to be alphabetic rather than based on rankings. Am I missing something?
ReplyDeleteSorting correctly for me.
ReplyDeletesorry, yes it is for me now too.
ReplyDeleteCool, sometimes it takes a few minutes after the widget is first started to correctly collate and rank the options.
ReplyDeleteWalter White has to be the ultimate here - he is the very definition of a conflicted protagonist you still (try to) root for. Also a shout out to Patty Hewes, Tony Soprano and Jackie Peyton though.
ReplyDeleteI agree that although he is conflicted, Rick Grimes is just a normal guy trying to survive, so it isn't difficult to still root for him. I also don't agree that Bill Compton is on this list - recently he's gone from a conflicted protagonist to antagonist to out-and-out asshole and back again - although I have to say I've never really rooted for him, whether it be the triangle with Sookie and Eric or his individual storylines.
Well my all-time favourite still is Omar Little, even though he wasn't a protagonist like others on this list.. Other than him i picked Walter White, Tony Soprano and Al Swearengen..
ReplyDeleteYeah i wouldve thought they would put shane on their but i guess he didnt live long enough
ReplyDeletejust walt? not him for me, i'm still rooting for jess. :)
ReplyDeleteWalter White!
ReplyDeleteand I guess I still rooted for Sister Jude and Dexter too
Dexter Morgan and I'm trying to root for Nucky Thomson, but boy is it getting hard...
ReplyDeleteHard to say on some of those. Jamie Lannister really starts as antagonist and its still murky if he really ever becomes a protagonist. Same for Theon. Norma Bates I agree should be added. Same for Allison Hendrix.
ReplyDeleteJamie and Theon are the really hard choices, as the opinion I believe will differ between those who have only watched the show and those who have read the books.
Good choices either way.
Feel free to add whatever you like as long as it meets the criteria ;)
ReplyDeleteYeah, Rick has lots of conflict, but it is rarely conflict about being good/evil.
ReplyDeleteWalter White and Al Swearengen are my two favorites here.
ReplyDeleteJaime and Theon too ofcourse, but I don´t think they fit the criteria as well.
I have loved Jax Teller for 5 seasons, don´t like him anymore... :-(
You don't have to explain the way he acts. People with brain understand that the world went to hell and there's no place for any charity anymore. And by the way, the comics are still the best choice.
ReplyDeleteI voted for Nancy Botwin, Jax Teller, Tyrion Lannister, Don Draper and Walter White.
