Best New Shows of 2013
Hostages deserves to be higher.
ReplyDeleteSo does Graceland!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad my favourites are doing well. I got absolutely obsessed with the Blacklist, Banshee, Orphan Black and Orange is the New Black and I'm really enjoying The Crazy Ones, Shield, The Americans and Graceland. I cant wait for some of these to start their second seasons.
ReplyDeleteI liked Graceland too, it was a bit hit and miss in the middle but ended on a big high. I cant wait for it to come back!
ReplyDeleteGraceland was a fun summer show and I'm glad it'll be back next year.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see what they do! It's such a fast paced show, I love it.
ReplyDeleteMy picks are Agents of SHIELD, The Americans, Orphan Black, OITNB, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Hannibal, The Bridge and Masters of Sex
ReplyDeleteI have voted for all the shows from this year that I watch: Agents of Shield, Sleepy Hollow, Orphan Black, The Blacklist, The Tomorrow People, The Following, The Originals, The Crazy Ones, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Masters of Sex, The Americans, Under the Dome and even Wonderland (no order)
ReplyDeleteMy picks were Sleepy Hollow, The Blacklist, The Americans, The Following,Orphan Black (still need to catch up) UtD.
ReplyDeleteSleepy Hollow, Under the Dome, Bates Motel, Siberia, Brooklyn Nine Nine, and The Bridge
ReplyDeletei don't understand how this works can someoine explain to me why sleepy hollow is number 7 with 73 up votes while the following is 6 with only 31 up votes.
ReplyDeleteThe Americans, Bates Motel, The Blacklist, Orange Is The New Black, Hannibal, and Witches of East End.
ReplyDeleteSleepy Hollow...! But shouldn't that be #1 now?
ReplyDeleteTCD isnt a new show?
ReplyDeleteMaybe not for this season but it did premiere in 2013.
ReplyDeleteNot sure how it works either, I was alternatively giving a thumps up/down and after playing around for a while, I got Orphan Black from 3 to 1.
ReplyDeleteOrphan Black, Sleepy Hollow, The Blacklist, The Originals, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Crazy Ones, The Americans, Masters of Sex, Agents of SHIELD, Orange Is The New Black and Bates Motel...
ReplyDeleteIt premiered in 2013.
ReplyDeleteYep, there seems there can be a delay when it's busy for the full list to properly re-rank itself.
ReplyDeleteShould be now if you refresh. It seems to take a while when it's busy to update.
ReplyDeleteThumbs up : Orphan Black, Originals, SHIELD, The Blacklist, The Crazy Ones, Trophy Wife, Devious Maids
ReplyDeleteWith potential : Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Carrie Diaries, Mistresses, Under the Dome, OUAT in Wonderland, Ravenswood
Thumbs down : Hostages
100% agreed
ReplyDeleteThumbs up to Sleepy Hollow, the Blacklist and The Tomorrow People. Thumbs down to Agents of SHIELD. Haven't seen anything else on the list!
ReplyDeleteA bit surprised they have Orange is the New Black but did not include House of Cards!
ReplyDeleteHoC was one of the best new shows in years.
We did post in the G+ Community for people to add any before it went live ;)
ReplyDeleteWell whoever the "they" is, I'm still surprised! XD
ReplyDeleteThey = You, me and the SpoilerTV team :)
ReplyDeleteI am surprised that so many people are able to downvote so many shows. For me to feel confident enough to downvote a show I would have to watch a few episodes of it and it's rare for me to sample a show that I don't watch to begin with, and especially to stick with it long enough to be able to say that I dislike the show.
ReplyDeleteHa, I downvoted based on a trailer of a show ;) We are Men and Dads
ReplyDeleteVoted Hannibal and Sleepy Hollow. Hannibal is just amazing. Great character writing, and such a good plot. Sleepy Hollow is so much fun. It's the closest thing to a Fringe replacement, IMO.
ReplyDeleteDownvoted The Following. I watched the full season, but the writing is way too convenient. It makes the FBI agents look like idiots, except when the stories needs the other team to lose... In that case, they are the idiots. Couldn't get through Under The Dome, sadly. The Americans, Bates Motel and OUAT In Wonderland are good, not great.
The best new shows for me so far are under the dome , Hannibal , Sleepy Hollow , Atlantis , The Crazy Ones , The Fosters , Mistresses and Defiance
ReplyDeleteAh, then we have different criterion as to what leads us to downgrade. I was curious :P
ReplyDeleteSleepy Hollow! and The Originals. I also plan to check Fosters and Blacklist sometime.
ReplyDeleteYep, I can do this for most comedies ;) Dramas are different, I tend to try an watch the pilot at a minimum.
ReplyDeleteAlright

ReplyDeleteUpvoted:
ReplyDeleteHannibal
Banshee
Masters of Sex
The Original
Orphan Black
Yep, I see what you mean. I´m missing Rectify.
ReplyDeleteBates Motel, Masters of Sex, Orange is the New Black and Siberia for me - which reminds me how I hope Siberia will get a season 2!
ReplyDeleteSleepy Hollow is by far the best new show to me. However, I really enjoyed Graceland after its rocky start. I also like SHIELD and Defiance. Surprisingly, this season has quite a few comedies I like as well - Goldbergs, Welcome to the Family (sad its demise), Trophy Wife, and Crazy Ones. Motive was a nice way to spend the summer as well.
ReplyDeleteI was disappointed in some of the bigger named shows on here though. Hannibal bored me, and Dracula looks like its clone in regards to pacing. The Following became a huge trainwreck, and I am probably done with Under the Dome too. Currently, I am debating on whether to continue, drop, or marathon later Blacklist (which has frustratingly no answers), The Tomorrow People (with its fascination with love triangles and Chosen One mythology), Wonderland (I'm rooting for the villains), and the Michael J Fox Show, which is unfunny much oif the time. I do want to get caught up on The Americans though. What I saw of it I liked.
I like that just when I think I know where the show is going, it twists into something completely different and yet it still generally makes sense with the new path.
ReplyDeleteI downvoted a couple that only saw once because they were ranked higher than shows I felt deserved to be higher.
ReplyDeleteDid you try Graceland? It had a rocky start but then became one of my favorite shows of the summer. It definitely keeps you going with all the twists. It's a different vein than Sleepy Hollow, Sherlock, Teen Wolf, and Supernatural but for me it was well worth the time.
ReplyDeleteThe level of incompetence shown by the FBI in The Following is my new standard for judging all shows with cops. Cops fall under: 1. "interviewing for The Following as we speak" incompetence 2. "Hey at least they aren't on The Following" general incompetence/doofiness or 3. "booted from The Following for being able to tie their own shoes" capability.
ReplyDeleteRegarding The Americans, it starts slow (although good) but the second half of the season is amazing and I really adored the finale, it is definitely worth another go. I started watching when it premiered but it ended up being put on hold but then I finished it at the beginning of the summer and I was so glad I did, it's really worth it!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe Ironside is at the end of the list, behind all those godawful comedies. I thought the show had potential if they had given it time. And I liked the fact that Ironside was shown dealing successfully with a physical handicap, after all the psychologically challenged heroes we've been seeing (Monk, The Bridge and now Rake).
ReplyDeleteI liked that aspect of the show too!
ReplyDeleteI think a lot of people have Police Procedural fatigue and are too hard on new Procedurals honestly. The exceptions seem to be shows with unrealistic gimmick lead characters, but the more shows with more realistic roles suffer.
Ironside was solid, not my type of show, but no worse than a dozen higher rated Procedurals and better than half of them at least.
Exactly!
ReplyDeleteYou have a very good point there. I don't normally watch police procedurals, but I was willing to give this one a try since I remember the original show from way back when. And I liked the completely new angle they used here, which was pretty much the exact opposite of Raymond Burr's portrayal.
ReplyDeleteI liked the first 2 episodes but I was swamped so once i missed one episode, I decided to marathon it later. Sadly the summer hiatus was even more packed this year, so it is now on my winter hiatus list. Since there are so few episodes, I am sure I can get caught up then. Glad to know that the second half is better than the beginning though. Gives me more to look forward to.
ReplyDeleteI know the feeling, trust me;) Let me know how it went then!
ReplyDeleteCan't say it enough how incredibly awesome Sleepy Hollow is. What a great show. I didn't think I would like Blacklist as much as I do also. I watched the first Episode and I was hooked. Great story line, really looking forward to see where they go with the husband.
ReplyDelete-Geo
LOL.
ReplyDeleteHannibal and house of cards are easily the best. No other show comes close right now, and all the ones listed below Hannibal are aimed towards typical fox veiwers aka morons.
ReplyDeleteThe originals and then once upon a time in wonderland ;)
ReplyDeleteHANNIBAL, all caps amazing.
