-Percent Change from Year-Ago Evening – Thursday 10/25/12:
Fox: +13, NBC: + 7, ABC: – 2, CW: -11, CBS: -20
———-
-Winners:
“The Big Bang Theory” (CBS), “The World Series,” Game 2 (Fox), “Grey’s Anatomy” (ABC), “Scandal” (ABC)

“Once Upon a Time in Wonderland” (ABC), “Sean Saves the World” (NBC), “The Michael J. Fox Show” (NBC), “Reign” (CW), “Parenthood” (NBC)
———-
-Ratings Breakdown:
Fox took center stage on this fourth Thursday in October care of game two of “The World Series.” The St. Louis Cardinals at the Boston Red Sox match-up averaged an estimated 9.2 rating/15 share in the overnights in primetime, peaking in the 10 p.m. half-hour at a 10.7/18. Comparably, this is five percent above the year-ago match-up between San Francisco and Detroit (8.8/14 on 10/25/12). And it is, of course, approximate due to the live nature of the sporting evening.
The top-rated show of the evening, as always, was mega-hit “The Big Bang Theory” on CBS with an 11.1/18 in the overnights at 8 p.m. And that led into episode four of “The Millers,” which dipped to a series-low (and second-place) 6.7/11 at 8:30 p.m. (with retention of 60 percent out of “The Big Bang Theory”). One week earlier, “The Millers” scored a 7.6/12 (with retention of 67 percent out of Sheldon, Leonard and company) opposite the Baseball Playoffs on Fox.
With weaker lead-in support, episode five of “The Crazy Ones” also hit a series low on CBS with a third-place 5.6/ 9 at 9 p.m. Comparably, that was down by 12 percent from the 6.4/10 one week earlier. But veteran “Two and a Half Men” perked up to a 5.8/ 9 at 9:30 p.m., and the two sitcoms, on average, were 35 percent below the 8.8/14 in the overnights for year-ago occupant “Person of Interest.” While the difference in the young adult demos will not be as severe, it will be noticeable.
Sophomore “Elementary” capped off the evening for CBS with a third-place 5.7/10, which was 21 percent below the 7.2/12 on the year-ago evening (7.2/12 on 10/25/12).
In week three news, ABC fantasy drama “Once Upon a Time in Wonderland” slipped to a 2.7/ 4 (#4) in the 8 p.m. hour, which was 16 percent below its week-ago telecast and 39 percent below failed year-ago drama “Last Resort” (4.4/ 7 on 10/25/12). Three-week overnight track for “Once Upon a Time in Wonderland”: 3.6/ 6 – 3.2/ 5 – 2.7/ 4. All together now: Tick, tock…the cancellation clock is ticking.
The alphabet net had netter news care of veteran “Grey’s Anatomy” (#2: 6.3/10 at 9 p.m., – 6 percent from the year-ago evening) and perfectly compatible “Scandal” (#2: 6.6/11 at 10 p.m.), which increased by 37 percent year-ago year. Note to Joshua Malina: I hate to say “I told you so,” but I did!
In week two news, CW drama “Reign” dropped by one-tenth of a rating point (or seven percent) to a 1.4/ 2 in the overnights at 9 p.m., which was 22 percent below lead-in “The Vampire Diaries” (1.8/ 3 at 8 p.m.). And the 1.5/ 2 in the overnights for “Reign” last week translated into 1.98 million viewers and a 0.8/ 2 among adults 18-49 (out of 2.93 million viewers and a 1.3/ 4 in the demo for “The Vampire Diaries”).
Over at NBC, an encore of “The Voice” filled in for “Parks and Recreation” and canceled “Welcome to the Family” and it averaged a third-place 3.6/ 6 from 8-9 p.m. Comparably, that was 67 percent above the two comedies last week. While the 9-11 p.m. block did slightly benefit, the overnight results for “Sean Saves the World” (#4: 2.9/ 5), “The Michael J. Fox Show” (#4: 2.5/ 4) and relocated “Parenthood” (#4: 2.7/ 5) were still sorely lacking. Unfortunately, it looks like that “fresh freckled face in the neighborhood,” Linda Lavin, is not “gonna stay awhile”….ba ba bum bum bummmm.

His comments have gotten creative, I'll give him that.
ReplyDeleteUgh. It annoys me how hardly anyone seems to be giving Wonderland a chance. It is honestly a really good and entertaining show! :(
ReplyDeleteOuch for The Crazy Ones. I hope it stabilizes. CBS should definitely give it TBBT lead-in.
ReplyDeleteReign didn't drop as much as I thought it would. Lets wait and see how much that translates into the 18 to 49 rating.
ABC is to blame for putting it in the Death Slot.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. Between The Millers and The Crazy Ones I think we all know which one is more deserving for TBBT lead-in.
ReplyDeleteAnd more immature.
ReplyDelete"I hate to say “I told you so,” but I did!"
Damn it for The Crazy Ones, I absolutely adore that show. I think it's on the wrong channel though, I think it would be a hit on ABC. I happen to watch both ABC and CBS comedies and like both but I think some people just stick with what they know and The Crazy Ones doesn't fit the genre of CBS comedies at all.
ReplyDeleteThat was always a given
ReplyDeleteI think The Millers should have always been paired up with Two and a Half Men, the type of humor is similar. However, I think it would be a very poorly rated hour albeit compatible since Two and a Half Men is dying and The Millers wouldn't be able to lead off an hour.
ReplyDeleteIt seems like NBC Thursdays need to start from scratch again which is too bad since I'm rooting for the MJF show.
ReplyDeleteScandal may have fallen a tenth or two but I hope it stays above a three and continue to be the #1 broadcast drama. Also hope last week was just a one off for Elementary.
TCO all the way
ReplyDeleteIt wasn't that bad of a plan. It juts didn't work out. Personally, although I am happily watching the show, it has many issues. It is too childish for starters and the CGI is even worse than in OUAT and it shows up in every scene. I am not that surprised that it didn't make it.
ReplyDeleteOuch for TCO deserve more
ReplyDeleteWhat is he referring to? I have yet to watch last night's Scandal so if its spoilers about it, please don't spoil me :P
ReplyDeleteReign isn't all that bad. There maybe a lot of inconsistencies but it goes with the territory and it's not like it's trying to be completely historically accurate. It's a guilty pleasure kind of show how BatB was for me last season. Haters gonna Hate
ReplyDeleteI don't think NBC should insist on this comedy non sense on Thursdays. At this point, it is almost certain that their fridays will always rate higher than their thursdays (assuming Dracula doesn't bomb) which will be very humiliating.
ReplyDeleteAgree 100%, I adore the crazy ones!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite new comedy since TBBT.
ReplyDeleteIdk what Joshua Malina said to piss him off like this.
ReplyDeleteIts absolutely hilarious
ReplyDeleteAgreed. There is no chance that NBC comedy block will get half as good ratings compared to CBS's.
ReplyDeleteAlong with trophy wife & mom
ReplyDeleteI like those too, but I have given up on Trophy Wife. Also, I like TCO more than those two.
ReplyDeleteBut those two keeps getting better...but poor TW ratings its awful
ReplyDeleteWhat I don't get is why NBC can't seem to attract viewers on their non voice/snf nights? I've only been following ratings since last year and it was the same then too. It can't just be a quality issue since there are a lot of crap on other networks that get more viewers.
ReplyDeleteHonestly I would just treat it like a mini-series. Since it was originally going to be burned off against the Olympics while OUAT was on hiatus, and since this season is an entirely self-contained story, I don't think anyone really expected it to be renewed. It's not like it was going to do better than OUAT, and a 2.5 or so rating ceiling is a pretty low one. As long as ABC doesn't pull it from the schedule I will be perfectly happy to enjoy a self-contained season.
ReplyDeleteI agree, Mom's last episode was really funny, but I still like TCO more.
ReplyDeleteI really got into Partners last year, but it got cancelled, so I drop the shows when they near cancellation. I dropped TW after the 4th episode.
Yay Reign didn't drop! This episode was way better than last weeks and much improvement. It is something that the cw has never done before and it looked like it belonged on starz or hbo.Hopefully it is stable or only drop a tenth which is ok.It might get the Backorder if stable,TTP is boring to me but The Originals is good also.Have a feeling Reign could be on a while,if Beauty and Beast and Carrie Diaries can get a second season so can Reign.
ReplyDeleteIt's competition against other networks.
ReplyDeleteI think he's just joking. That line reads to me more like "I told you Scandal was gonna rise" than something mean spirited.
ReplyDeleteI too, unfortunately expected a bigger drop for Reign, because of The Voice's battle help to NBC sitcoms and Fox's Baseball(Reign has male fans too, and I'm sure there are females who like Baseball). Anyway, I hope the rating is good enough(given the competition).
ReplyDeleteReign might get a back order, but a second season depends on how many new shows The CW wants to give a second season to, and how many new shows they want to pickup during Pilot season.
ReplyDeleteWell they have Star Crossed which will Probably flop and The 100.Also with Carrie Diaries and Beauty and The Beast ratings Dropping I am confident that Reign will see a second season if stable.Hart of Dixie will be back for finale season(Maybe) because of Syndication. The Cw only picks up three shows in the fall.
ReplyDeleteThe Carrie Diaries hasn't even premiered yet
ReplyDeleteI just hope the World Games will have a winner within next monday night, 'cause it's hurting different shows.
ReplyDeleteIt will flop,it got .4's and .3's on a monday.I already know.
ReplyDeletePartners ratings were a dead give away for cancellation considering it was on CBS, I stuck with it though. TW on the other hand has lots of potential so I'm feeling confident considering where it is. Really hoping it pushes through. Mom, TW and TCO are my fave new comedies this year
ReplyDeleteNot entirely sure what he was referring too. Not sure if it's anything to do with the episode at all, maybe more of a general comment if nothing else
ReplyDeleteYou did more than me, I didn't venture myself after the first episode as soon as I saw the ratings.
ReplyDeleteand there I thought I was often being too hasty considering my predictions.
ReplyDeleteHow can you already be sure that theCWs worst rated new show will get a second season ?
I'm not even sure Originals will get a second one...
we will just have to wait tosee.you never know with the cw.
ReplyDeleteI hoped it would pick up, but after two 1.4s, that didn't seem likely.
ReplyDeleteWell it's on a friday now so the standards will be different. Think of it this way. If the CD will be cancelled. Rest assured Reign will find itself of Friday if the ratings will decline
ReplyDeleteI hope Dracula does good after Grimm, 'cause I know Jessica de Gouw is part of the main cast and I loved her as The Huntress on Arrow. I wish her the best :)
ReplyDeleteTrue,Hopefully it does ok.
ReplyDeleteABC said at one time because they liked the story that was pitched that it could get a second season, but looking at the ratings i think they should wrap things up quick
ReplyDeleteDracula is a mini-series, so NBC will air all 10 episodes, no matter how badly it does.
ReplyDeleteSo far, there's only one free place(Nikita). And I too hope in the backorder for Reign, and the renewal, but it will depend on Beauty and The Beast, The Carrie Diaries, The Originals, The Tomorrow People and the other new CW Shows(Star-Crossed and The 100) performances.
ReplyDeleteSo far, between them, The Originals has the best rating average.
I'll be hurt anyway, 'cause all the CW's shows attract me somehow.
Yes, I was not referring to it being pulled, just to the ratings themselves. I think it will do fine.
ReplyDeletehope so too
ReplyDelete"hoped". I am not optimistic anymore.
ReplyDeleteThere might be surprises. I know there are people who expected Reign to flop since the premiere, with a rating, like 0.5 or 0.6, but that didn't happen and I hope will not. Last year Beauty and The Beast started with a rating of 1.2 and then its season finale obtained 0.6, so I hope The CW's new shows will have the chance to grow, instead of decrease.
ReplyDeleteScandal got a 3.5 in the top 25 market, Elementary 1.6 and Parenthood 1.3. I guess last week wasn't a one off for Elementary after all.
ReplyDeleteWell,All their new shows started out lower than usual this year .8-1.0 so each show has time to grow this year. All their shows are good but TTP is starting to lose me.
ReplyDeletesource?
ReplyDeletesitcomonline twitter
ReplyDeleteonly saw scandal rating
ReplyDeleteApparently the pilot is pretty bad.
ReplyDeleteI quite enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteThey are comparing it to shows on other networks in the same timeslot.
ReplyDeleteIn top 25 mkts #Scandal does a 3.5 18-49 rtg! Beats CBS 1.6/NBC 1.3 easily AGAIN!
ReplyDeleteoh ok thanks
ReplyDeleteIf that holds and this situation doesn't change, I think CBS will cancel Elementary and keep The Good Wife after all.
ReplyDeleteI feel like they can keep both, considering the tough time they are having at the 10 pm slot on mondays alone. Thursday and Sunday 10pm is a hard slot
ReplyDeletesitcomsonline shows the top 25 market ratings when they are favorable to ABC, so only once a week :P
ReplyDeletebut why they all show 3 shows
ReplyDeleteI don't understand what you mean.
ReplyDeleteI hope they will grow. About The Tomorrow People, I've read comments full of enthusiasm about the third episode, but to each his own.
ReplyDeleteMarc wrote (to Joshua) a twitter some ago about a "raining of ratings" for Scadal this season.
ReplyDeleteReign is a limited series
ReplyDeleteI think The Mentalist is a goner no matter what (it is possible that it stays but it would require an extremely unlikely combination of factors for it to happen). After that, it is possibly but improbable that CBS doesn't ax any other veteran. However, that would require 2 of the three to happen: 1)Undercover Boss is held to replace a failed drama again; 2) Intelligence fails; 3)CBS reduces its comedy hours to 3. If this happens, then they have the room to launch their 3 usual new hours of dramas without axing any other veteran. If only of these happens, unless they are willing to launch only 2 dramas, then they need to ax a second veteran to make room for it.
ReplyDeleteWhere did you get that from?
ReplyDeleteThat only means its seasons are smaller than 22 episodes. A mini series would mean that it would not come back for a second season.
ReplyDeleteImo Scandal got less ratings than it deserved in S1 and now it is getting more ratings than it deserves. lol
ReplyDeleteIt's comedies are doing moderetaly well so I don't see them reducing the hours to 3. Intelligence is getting mixed reviews so its possible it might flop. I'm pushing for Elementary because it's a nice take on Sherlock Holmes and I love the chemistry between JLM and LL
ReplyDeleteI get really annoyed when people say that a show doesn't "deserve" high ratings. I don't watch Scandal, but many people do.
ReplyDeleteSome of the shows have been a bit up and down this season so far
ReplyDeleteA18-49 DEMO RATINGS SO FAR
HOD-0.4, 0.4, 0.4
Beauty-0.3, 0.3, 0.3
TO-1.0, 0.9, 1.1, 0.9
SPN-1.2, 1.0, 1.1
ARROW-0.9, 1.1, 0.9
TTP-0.9, 0.8, 0.7
TVD-1.2, 1.0, 1.3
REIGN-0.8
Who wants to bet Wonderland gets cancelled today?
ReplyDeleteI seriously doubt it. What will ABC replace it with? Betrayal has been doing worse and is still on the schedule.
ReplyDeleteI believe the CW has the option for a back 9 if the show does well so no not a limited series
ReplyDeleteI think Charlies Angels was pulled was similar numbera n it got a 1.1 today and is hurting Greys bringing ABC down on a strong night they could bring wipeout or some reality series
ReplyDeleteI have never watched the show, I have nothing against it. But I do watch and really enjoy TGW so if it is between one or the other I hope TGW is sparred. I think scheduling issues could also play a role there, because if renewed, Elementary would certainly need to be moved to Friday/Sunday, but if it is already performing at Friday/Sunday levels, CBS has no incentive to put it there and cancel TGW, especially when TGW is giving them syndication money.
ReplyDeleteGrey's Anatomy is a 10 year old series that had flop dramas, repeats or low rated reality shows as its lead in for like 80% of its run. It does not make sense to say that GA is being hurt by Wonderland. You may argue that a compatible well rated show there would help it out, sure, but it has always been a self starter, it wouldn't stop being one now.
ReplyDeleteAs for the reality series, this winter ABC has at least the following slots to fill:
- Sundays a 8 (OUAT Winter hiatus)
- Sundays at 9 (Revenge Winter hiatus)
- Sundays at 10 (Betrayal will finish its run and get cancelled, if not pulled earlier)
- Tuesdays at 10 (It's already empty)
- Wednesdays at 10 (Nashville Winter hiatus)
- Thursday at 8 (if Wonderland is pulled)
- Thursdays at 9 (GA Winter hiatus)
- Thursdays at 10 (Scandal Winter hiatus)
On reserve, they have:
- The Taste
- The Quest
- Killer Women
- Mind Games
- Ressurection
However, it is unlikely that they launch the new dramas before the end of february since there are the olympics in february and they would kill their chances. Even if they did, they would still have 3 blank hours of programming! I am sure wipeout will need to be used there.
Scandal sure rules Thursday nights I wouldn't be surprised if it even hits a 5.0 one day
ReplyDeleteJust checking to see if you got my email yesterday?
ReplyDeleteAgreed, especially since Betrayal is already below 1.0
ReplyDeleteElementary got a 1.8, which is a nice 20% recovery from last week. Elementary is holding up well enough, especially if last week really is just an anomaly. I still see CBS as renewing Elementary before the Good Wife. They might figure that some of the DVR audience overlaps with Scandal and that some of those people will watch on Friday/Sunday to make for however many it loses in the move. It certainly isn't pulling Friday/Sunday numbers just yet.
ReplyDeleteI think the Good Wife's fate may be tied more to its costs. The cast is large and well-known. Maybe syndication will get it an extra season pushed back to 10 PM, maybe not. I'm a fan of both shows so I hope they both get renewed, but if the Good Wife ends now it will be going out on top.
I hadn't seen it. Just saw it now. I will answer to you in a bit, thank you!
ReplyDeleteThat is true about the ratings, I made the comment before seeing the ratings from today. A 1.8 level should get it renewed.
ReplyDeleteCool, no worries. I'm not around much this weekend so no rush ;)
ReplyDeleteScandal has gotten better and better and it just builds up. I don't know why you want a great show to not have good ratings. the hell man
ReplyDeleteTrue we are on diff sides since I watch Elem and I don't watch TGW. Ratings wise Elem does skew older but it does have a decent following as seen in its viewership so I am hoping both get spared.
ReplyDeleteBye,Bye Wonderland..
ReplyDeleteTVD Share?
ReplyDeleteHurray for Scandal! Keep the good ratings coming. TCO really deserves so much more. And Glad Elem is okay, 1.8 is good, really thought it would be lower.
ReplyDelete0.6 ? By far not a fan of Reign but I hope they stabilize, otherwise theCW has a major flop on their hands considering the budget they had to have for the marketing and the fact that of most new shows this one appears to be the most expensive one
ReplyDeleteI think they are fine with this level during fall and they can easily replace it with the 100 come winter.
ReplyDeletepremiere rating doesn't represent an entire series. for example, Hart of Dixie back when its in 1st season. lowest rated new show (vs TSC and Ringer) but still be renewed and those two higher reted than HoD got canned. if Reign can stay above 0.5-0.6, it will be renewed or even get a back order.
ReplyDeleteStill the money they spent for Reign will be sorta lost. Remember the huge marketing campaign the show had ? Lost money in this case.
ReplyDeleteAlso I doubt they'll get a dvd/bluray release in case the show doesen't get a back nine order
1.1 . It should be in the table.
ReplyDeleteit's not, like most CW shows this one also has the possibility of a back nine order.
ReplyDeleteThat yes, for sure. But remember, the CW operates under operating losses, which means that they loose money in the process of producing/buying shows and getting revenues for it (as in the cost of producing or buying the shows is higher than the revenues they get from the adds placed on it). They make their profits by selling their shows to syndication. Therefore, Reign having a negative net result is not something new. There are probably just a couple of shows on the cw (if that) that don't result in losses.
ReplyDeleteThey should change up the schedule. I wanna say move it to 9pm on Sundays, and move Revenge to 10, but that would kill Revenge which is already not doing so hot with ratings. I have said this so many times: it should have been a summer show!!!
ReplyDeletei hope once upon a time in wonderland doesnt get cancelled i have enjoyed it so far.
ReplyDeletedidn't look at it from this perspective. In this case Reign failing must've been more than a calculated risk, still I'm sure that some execs might be shocked about these numbers.
ReplyDeleteSimply the way it was promoted suggested that it was at least expected to be a moderate success, I didn't see buses with ads for Tomorrow People or Originals tacked on, I did sit in two buses with ads for Reign tough.
At this point i personally feel sorry for Reigns marketing departement (I might have too much empathy for theCWs marketing departement in general), because no matter what I think of the show: the marketing was excessive
I don't think so. A) It is a limited series, all of its episodes has to be in the box now, so no cost savings. B) What show would be better there with repeats? Their No.1-2. are right after the timeslot. Their No.3 drama is Castle and its repeats would probably be even lower. Airing the new show has at least a minimal chance of improving rates.
ReplyDeleteIt might not be canned just yet considering that it IS a spin-off and they can make some money of it by selling it alongside with OuaT in DVD sets but I guess that after season 1 it might be done if it doesen't get better
ReplyDeleteWHY wonderland WHYYY! That slot doesnt work for ABC the show is good! and is doing awfull cause of that time slot! Reigh went down it was expeced, i hope it adjust up! Greys nice to see it up from last week!
ReplyDeleteIdk what the CW expected especially with the way that particular time slot hasn't been working well for their other shows.
ReplyDeleteI thought BatB did .6 last week?
ReplyDeleteI think Wonderland will play out the rest of its 10 Episodes. However I don't think it will be getting a Season 2. Shame really it actually is a good show it just is on a bad Night.
ReplyDeleteAlso if they were to take one thing away from Wonderland and put it on the Orginal show I think they need to bring Jafar in on the Main Series maybe the 2nd half of Season 3.
ReplyDeleteIt was adjusted down.
ReplyDeleteYou can see all final ratings in the ratings database
www.stvplus.com
It was inflated, it got a 0.3 in the finals
ReplyDeleteIt's possible since several characters have already crossed over from the original series to this one.
ReplyDeletesounds like a personal bet to me of the increasing success of the show. I don't find it offensive or irritating.
ReplyDeleteI understand that it is liked by some but , just no for me not at all interesting
ReplyDeleteIt is a certain cancellation at this point I am affraid
ReplyDelete5.0 seems a little far stretched. Low 4's maybe, but I don't think it would hit 5.0
ReplyDeleteI think it might peak during S3, and then slowly decline from there.
For me I don't trust NBC to continue a show I like beyond the 1st season. It has, over the years proven to drop shows, in my opinion, prematurely and hang on to shows that are mediocre. Granted I am older than most of the fans of this site but that is my opinion. Hate to start up anything with them until the second season and only if I haven't developed a love for a different network in that time slot.
ReplyDeleteits a real shame , what are the chances of them moving it to a new timeslot?
ReplyDeleteOh no I have such high hopes for this one :(
ReplyDeletesummer burn off or Saturday burn off could happen does that would count as a new time slot?
ReplyDeleteI started to trust IGN and it gave it 6.9. So I hope the people who said the pilot is pretty bad are wrong.
ReplyDeleteAre you sure they spent a lot with its campaign? 'cause I've read comments of people asking on what network it airs o.o
ReplyDeleteI don't know wether they spent much on it but they certainly had plenty of ads out
ReplyDeleteSome The Vampire Diaries' fans are annoying 'cause they don't even give a chance to the following series. Even The Originals dropped 0.2 airing after it.
ReplyDeleteThe Big Bang Theory down three tenths, but will most likely be adjusted up. The Millers down four-tenths, but despite of that, The Crazy Ones is only down a tenth, which is a good sign. I hope it is adjusted up too. Two and a Half Men up two-tenths. Elementary rose two-tenths after last week's series low.
ReplyDeleteOnce Upon A Time In Wonderland down two-tenths to a dismal 1.1. Wonder how low it will go before it ends its run. Grey's Anatomy up a tenth and Scandal down three-tenths, but still the highest rated drama of the night.
NBC shows are even from last week.
The Vampire Diaries and Reign down two-tenths each. Will they be adjusted up?
5.0 is highly unlikely.
ReplyDeleteI remember when NBC was gold, and it wasn't all that long ago. They started having problems 8,10 years ago,at least they are trying to get back to solid programming.
ReplyDeleteMaybe, but The CW should consider the general broadcast tv's situation, which isn't great. Take a look at Once Upon A Time in Wonderland, Lucky 7, Hostages, We Are Men, Dads, The Michael J. Fox, Welcome To The Family and Ironside results. They weren't/aren't great, so CW should be more patient.
ReplyDeleteAnd remember the presence of the Baseball game that caused problems to different shows(Arrow and The Tomorrow People dropped, too), but I hope the loss of young viewers won't be permanent.
in me you'll find a deaf conversation partner trying to argue that the reason Reign fails is the bad situations fault. The show is
ReplyDeletea.) not a genre the networks general audience is used to
b.) poorly researched and painful to watch for anyone that had to read Schillers Mary Stuart, wich was also pretty opinionated as a piece of art AND had to suffer trough 6 hours of my history professors lecture about the deep conflict between the english and the scots (ironically my prof's irish)
c.) awfully made, the costumes feel more like a few cheerleaders had to buy them for their medival themed bonfire and the sets reek of soundstage
d.) the acting is monotone and it baffles me how any of these people actually managed to make it to a CW show.
Personally I'll always happily proclaim that Reign failed because it's bad, bad scheduling asside
I agree that it will finish its order. I am just worried because the writers had said that it was meant to have 18 eps instead of 13 so I am affraid we could be left hanging. Let's hope not.
ReplyDeleteAt this point I would be shocked if they moved it.
ReplyDeleteYou could make that argument - that it is too early to make any prediction - for any network, for any show, up until march or april. As it stands, looking at not only relative ratings but also at trends, it is highly unlikely that the originals is not renewed, it is likely that the tomorrow people is renewed and it is a toss up situation tending for the unlikely renewal for reign.
ReplyDeleteI will be SHOCKED if The Carrie Diaries is not cancelled this year.
ReplyDeletePersonally, what baffles me (although this is by no means exclusive to NBC) is how can we all spot bad ideas at the freaking day of the upfronts, yet NBC executives (whose job is to think about this) cannot and continue loose money because of that. I mean, we all knew that Welcome to the family would bomb, what chances did it have? We all knew that putting Sean Hayes anchoring the entire comedy block was a bad move, they did it anyway. I mean, how is it possible? There is some stuff that they've tried that could have worked and just didn't unfortunately but the moves were good (go on last season for instance), but others are just astonishingly bad, so it is no surprise at all that they don't work. The same reason why we all knew Betrayal, Lucky 7, We Are Men, et all would be dead. Yet, they went ahead, spent tones of money on it and proved us right.
ReplyDeleteI think it was mostly critics who bashed the show.
ReplyDeleteI DO watch the show. that's why I told this.
ReplyDeleteThe Crazy Ones deserves so much better! Put it after TBBT and put The Millers behind TAAHM!
ReplyDeleteWith all the due respect to the critics' thoughts, I watch whatever I want. Their bad comments won't stop me from watch what I find interesting(at least from the plot).
