It was another Thursday overnight household victory for CBS, and stability for both “The Millers” and “The Crazy Ones” should warrant a full season episode order for both freshman sitcoms (as well as “Mom” on Monday) as early as today. “The Big Bang Theory” topped the night, as always, with an 11.4 rating/19 share at 8 p.m. And that, comparably, was up by seven percent from the year-ago evening.
Next was “The Millers” at a 7.6/12 at 8:30 p.m., which rose by two-tenths of a rating point (or three percent) from one week earlier with retention of an acceptable 67 percent out of “The Big Bang Theory.” The 9-10 p.m. combination of “The Crazy Ones” (#2: 6.4/10) and veteran “Two and a Half Men” (#2: 6.2/10) could not compete with the 8.9/14 in the overnights for year-ago time period occupant “Person of Interest.” But both were on par from one week earlier, the difference in the young adult demos from “Person of Interest” is certainly much closer, and they fit together like a glove.
Sophomore “Elementary” capped off the night for the Eye net with a second-place 5.6/10 at 10 p.m., which was 24 percent below the 7.4/13 one year earlier.
In series-premiere news, drama “Reign” on The CW opened with a sluggish 1.5/ 2 in the 9 p.m. hour, which dropped by 25 percent from lead-in “The Vampire Diaries” (#5: 2.0/ 3 at 8 p.m.) and was only equal to “Beauty and the Beast” on the year-ago evening. Two weeks earlier, “The Originals” previewed in this time period with a 1.7/ 3 (also out of a 2.0/ 3 for “The Vampire Diaries”). Given the hype, consider this disappointing sampling for “Reign.”
In week two news, ABC fantasy drama “Once Upon a Time in Wonderland” slipped to a 3.2/ 5 in the overnights at 8 p.m., which was 11 percent below the disappointing 3.6/ 6 opener (on Oct. 10) and 33 percent below failed year-ago drama “Last Resort” (4.8/ 8 on 10/18/12). But lead-out “Grey’s Anatomy” rose to a dominant 6.6/11 from 9-10 p.m. (-10 percent from one year earlier), followed by “Scandal” at a first-place 6.9/12, which increased by 38 percent from the 5.0/ 9 one year earlier.
On Fox, game five of The American League Championship Series on Major League Baseball, Boston at Detroit, was competitive at an estimated 5.8/10 in primetime, which was 35 percent above last week’s regularly scheduled combination of “The X Factor” and “Glee.” As a reminder, results for any live sporting event are always approximate.
Over at NBC, anemic remains the word with its Thursday line-up of “Parks and Recreation” (#4: 2.4/ 4), “Welcome to the Family” (#5: 1.9/ 3), “Sean Saves the World” (#4: 2.5/ 4). “The Michael J. Fox Show” (#4: 2.3/ 4) and “Parenthood” (#3: 2.6/ 5). “Welcome to the Family,” which dropped by 21 percent from year-ago occupant “Up All Night,” is expected to be the third freshman series cancellation this fall.

About the Daily Ratings
Each day (except Sunday) during the main TV Season we post the TV Ratings for the previous nights primetime shows for the major broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, CW, FOX, NBC). Cable Network ratings will be added to the
Ratings Database.
The first item that gets posted (normally around 2pm GMT) is the early overnight analysis based on the early household numbers (these are not the same as the Total Viewers and 18-49 Demo numbers that are posted later).
Next, if available, we will post the Top 25 Market 18-49 Ratings to give you a rough idea of the ratings to following.
Later on (normally between 4pm-5pm GMT) we post the official early overnight Total Viewers and 18-49 Demo numbers in the table above.
Finally, later in the evening (10pm-11pm GMT) or the following day, the final adjusted ratings numbers are released, these are then posted in the
Ratings Database. The Final Adjusted numbers are what we use for all our Renew/Cancellation Tables, Full Season Tables, Ratings Scorecards etc (see below)
