  4. Needs to improve a good deal to be a viable option for me!

I actually enjoy the premise, but the cliches! Ugh!
I can move beyond the cliches though I think. If they flesh them out in unexpected unique ways. I just have some fears since they really hit on every SciFi trope so heavily in the pilot. Off the top of my head I can think of these... and I'm sure I'm forgetting some!
    - Delinquent father who went off the map to save his family.
    - Mysterious father: Hero or villain?
    - The mentor considered dead, but left open to return later.
    - A hidden ancestral line.
    - The chosen one to lead them all.
    - Brothers pitted against one another.
    - The next generation of brothers doomed to repeat the cycle.
    - A love triangle wedge that will change everything down the road.
    - The normal best friend (probable future love triangle plot) who doesn't know the secret.
    - Oppression of the unique or special by clandestine agency.

The worst part were the fight scenes!
You could actually see the pulled punches and the kicks and punches going past their mark! XD
Terrible, TERRIBLE fight coordination and camera work/ direction/ editing. Seriously some of the worst fights I have seen on TV. Comical for all the wrong reasons.

I will give it another episode or two though because I do like a couple of the actors and if they take the generic SciFi cliche down a new road it would be interesting.

  5. lol I don't have much to say right now.

  6. I am obsessed with any Sci-fi show so I had to check this out.

I actually thought it was pretty good! I just wish I hadn't seen all the promos because I would have liked to be surprised that Jed is Stephen's uncle (Even if it was kinda predictable). The show definently has flaws but if they can even them out later on, I think this could be a keeper. Let's hope the ratings are decent!

P.S. Peyton List is my new TV crush. What a cutie.

  7. I gave it a try but i didn't care for it...oh well..

  8. solid start for the show, but I will admit that it did remind me a lot of the movie "Jumper", but I did like the ep a lot. I most liked that I didn't guess the end that he would end up volunteering to join the "bad guys" in order to find the truth and possibly his father. If there was one bit that I thought seemed a bit thin was the beginning, where John steal the passcard to access the files, as it didn't look like it was at the Ultra bldg, and John could've just teleported into the room and got the file he needed without alerting anyone... gave it a good, but am looking forward to seeing how things shake out

  9. it was okay, I won't watch it live though it wasn't that good.

  10. I agree with you Robinclank2.
I don't understand why some people don't get the point you're making.

  11. Good pilot, entertaining, interesting premise, the characters and their portrayers have potential. I'm interested in seeing where this story goes. The lead kid looks so much like Arrow's Amell that I actually thought they were brothers until I googled it.

  12. Aha... so every show with "superhuman abilities and organisations" can be compared... mmmm. Dollhouse, Alphas, Supernatural, Smallville, Buffy, Doctor Who... I can keep going forever... Sorry, but having two elements in common do not qualify a show to be in the same "genre". Even sometimes, two things in the same "genre" cannot compare, such as LOTR, Willow and The Princess Bride, or Star Wars, Blade Runner and Alien.

  13. Um. I wouldn't describe SHIELD as being a show about people with powers. Since, there are none. Especially not on a regular basis.

  14. It was pretty good but it didn't blow me away. For a teleporter Cara took forever to get show up to rescue Stephen. Taking a job with a guy who tells you to your face you should be made extinct made me file him under "moron." I wish they'd given him a better reason for taking that new job. I'll check out a couple of more episodes but anxious for the next ep...eh..

  15. He took the job to act as a mole for The Tomorrow People and to get more information about his dad.

  16. I didn't really like the casting at all. I think they all look too old. The lead looks ridiculous in school.

The plot was so so. The action was good. The music was good. But I didn't feel it was a very strong show. I'll give it another watch, but for me, it's just not quite passable yet.

  17. I seriously enjoyed The Tomorrow People's pilot episode... of course, I'm a *huge* Mark Pellegrino fan so... lol

  18. I enjoyed it enough to watch again and I guess that is what they are after. ;) It was fun seeing "Lucifer" again.

  19. It thought it was okay - the only reason I kept it on was for Mark. By the end, I was kinda enjoying it. I'll check out next week's episode before I decide whether or not to watch it. But since Mark is on it (really the only character I liked, besides TIM), I'll probably watch it.

  20. I had hoped more for this series, but it wasn't that terrible either.
The cliches bother me more than the bad editing. The pace of the storyline was dragging on some points. Generally I like the storyline, the cast (I'm watching for Luke Mitchell and Mark) and Robbie even surprised me. Hope the pace of the storyline picks up the next couple of episodes.

  21. Hahaha, there it is. That's something, and i do agree. They look so much alike...I would enjoy that, if Stephen came on the show.

  22. I found it pretty much the same as several other shows on TV. Fairly redundant of all the other supernatural shows. Not horrible not great. Won't be watching this one though.

  23. yes same genre. I believe that was the point being made

  24. personal perception, no matter what is a value by what something is judged, even if it differs from your own

    ReplyDelete
  25. No, I mean someday when their shows are done they could. Stephen and Robbie being leads in both of their shows would make it hard for either one to guest star on their shows.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Ohhhh ok, i see what you mean. Yeah true, i didn't even think about that, i just got excited with the thought of it. haha

  27. As Luke said in the look ahead promo, Stephen is acting as a double agent.

    ReplyDelete
  28. That s good to know, thanks. (The promo got cut off in my recording) Had they cleaned up in the scene in the pilot I would have enjoyed it more.

  29. Like "Jumper" this was quite okay and average for me. nothing really jumped out, pun intended, i kept waiting for a decent non-cliche twist which didnt happen. acting was sub-par, with the exception Luke Mitchell and mark pellegrino. I keep a maximum of 4 episodes until i make the final decision to stop watching, so hopefully it will pick up the pace in the next few episodes. I know sci fi storylines like this have been done to death over and over again, so unless they change it up a bit i will not be as impressed with this show as others already seem to be. I know this is a re-imagining of a 70's show so some of those classic twists are bound to re-occur. However there is a lot you can do with sci fi like this, just look at the show Haven, its simply amazes me the levels they have taken the show to.

  30. Average. Nothing special. Wasn't crazy about the casting either.

  31. I enjoyed it and thought it was very competent. I liked the characters, the acting was good and better than I expected (Mark is awesome and Robbie impressed me, the supporting actors were also good). I think more than liking the episode itself I like the potential. Yeah sure, it has been done to death people with powers, but I still enjoy it a lot. And I like that we are learning about it together with Steven. Did not see the twists coming like him being his uncle or him having more powers than the others or hi going undercover so that was good. The only thing I would take out would be the school scenes and Astrid, I don't feel they add anything at this point, they are disposable. Will keep watching, for sure.
