I didn't like this episode it was to abby-centric. It also didn't have any great Icabob lines. Hopefully next weeks episode is better and returns the focus to Icabob.
The Dreamworld was so cool and I will forever have nightmares about the Sandman. Seriously, that thing scared the crap out of me. Also, the humor in this episode was A+.
I loved as usual. I loved the Sandman he was awesome. When the Doctor died and they all wanted to see her body, i was not expecting that with her eyes, I laughed and said "eww that was gross" lol I don't get grossed out by anything really so that being gross to me was ironic, probably b/c i didn't see it coming. I can't get enough of Ichabbie, their chemistry is so good together. Him trying the energizer drink and him accidentally messing with the remote. lol. How he thought the stripping was unnecessary and when he said "No more scorpions ever!" lol.. I liked how Ichabod called Abbie his friend!! And how he w/o hesitation i might add, drank the sleeping brew and would stick by her. How she got out of her fear phase when Ichabod was being attacked by the Sandman. Their moment they had down in the police station was really funny. Think that's the first time we've seen him actually laugh! It was adorable. As for Jenny i thought she was ok, I'd like to know where she went off to. She definitely seems more tough than Abbie and i think Abbie will be able to track her down. I think when they finally get face to face, Jenny if going to punch her in the face, and then some. I don't see her being the crying type at all. It'll be awhile til they hug one another, but i think Ichabod will try and help the situation. Next week looks better too!!!
loved it. really liked adding in Abby's sister and possibly the Mohawk shaman as possible future allies in the battle.. still am extremely curious as to what the captain knows and what side (if any) does he play on? I like that they have their own "batcave/headquaters" just like Buffy and the Scoobies used to have the library/magic shop.....
Excellent episode! Different than the first two episodes because episode 3 was more story driven to lay down the intro of Jennifer (Abby's sister) who appears tougher than Abby and "Mad as #3LL"! Ichabod's devotion to Abby in this episode was a fine display of the two actors chemistry. Between Ichabod adjusting to the times, unresolved issues with Jenny, and the "End of the World" on the horizon...........poor Abby has got hands full. Can't wait until the next episode! 4 A RIDE THAT WILL LEAVE YOU HEADLESS, I am Nobody!!!
Sure. That said - - Sam had premonition dreams. - The tatoo from next week is in the same spot as the brother's anti-possesion tats. - Sam and Dean had to contend with the Four Horsemen. It's just a little too close for me.
Probably the weakest episode so far for me. No Katrina, no Ichabod flashbacks, no dealing with the 4 Horseman, not much of the ex-sheriff's investigations. Without all of that it felt too much like a complete procedural to me.
I did like the COTW to some degree, but these smaller unrelated cases to the overall impending doom/ 4 Horsemen are not as interesting to me.
The set up for Abbie's sister Jenny was okay too, but seriously? How dumb do the psych nurses and doctors have to be to have a patient like her in a room with a drop ceiling? Too easy to access if not for escape to harm herself or others. At least Abbie discovered it after almost a minute of looking around an otherwise escape route empty room.
Any show that does an episode on the Sandman (or some similar folklore) will have someone having dreams and sand in the eyes. It is all part of the folklore of the character.
The chest tattoo is not that uncommon in my mind. Easily covered by a shirt but still easy to bare and prove your allegiance.
I think any shows that deal with folklore and supernatural elements will have a lot of similar factoids and mythology elements. I chalk it up to similar source material for their stories.....
A lot slower than the first two episodes. - The entire installment was almost completely dedicated to Abbie accepting the truth. I liked how so far the MotW is somehow related to the storyline. - As usual, I enjoyed Ichabod adapting the our world (Watching him choke on an energy drink was hilarious) and his rants about what went wrong in the last 250 years, this time it was about the fall-out with the Native Americans. I also liked that they've already found their lair. - Missed Katrina and the witches this week. Overall, there was a lack of mythology in this episode. - Still feeling wary about Irving for some reason. - Already liking Jenny. Hope she keeps caling Ichabod "Icky". I liked the flashbacks to the younger Abbie/Jenny and I wonder if the show will bring up the fact again that they were stranded in the woods for 4 days. For all we know, The Blurry Man could have done God-knows-what to them and then erased their memory.
Why is it that all male female duos have to become an item. I think this can sometimes ruin a show. It puts the writers in a box because they have to keep building on the romance and soon enough the show pays with a cancellation. This is just my opinion ....Abbie and Crane should just become strong supernatural crime fighters NOT lovers!
What do you mean lack of acting skill, she was great in this show as for calling her a weak link she wouldn't be in the show if she wasn't important to the whole set up, so take a walk please with your rubbish...
I think it's too soon to tell. I think she deserves some time to find her footing, but I was actually glad that they are giving us more story with her character, attempting to make her and Ichabod (and maybe even Jenny?) more equal counterparts, since it seems like "balance" is going to be a key ingredient in their success.
It might be that this confronting the sandman was her first step into really evolving into someone else....
The sandman and the dream world totally reminds me of Pan's Labyrinth and I think it's a really cool thing to have this other universe/state of existence!
I like this episode much better than last weeks and that switch focus onto Abbie and showing a progression and strength with her character. Love that the shaman was also a car dealer! I hope we're not done with other realities, because I always think it's a fun device to get inside the characters heads and to see interesting concepts in relation to identity.
To a degree. Sam's dreams are not lifted from source material(like the Four Horsemen/The Apocalypse/Flatliners). It is a very specific plot device written into the series. Now, you just have someone who has the same sort of dreams pop up on a show less than six years later. I'm not trying to dog the show. I'm just saying the lifts are pretty shameless.
Defensive much? XD Last week you call someone racist for not liking her and this week you call someone else's opinion rubbish?
How I wish there was a mute button on this site for people who overreact to other's opinions. Opinions that by the way everyone is entitled to and happen to be the basis for this entire site.
While slower, it was interesting to see and learn more about Abbie. I also think it was very much needed. I missed a bit the comedic thing they had on the other episodes, but other than that, still quite strong. This show is in for the long run I hope.
I have a feeling that Sleeping Hollow will be like X-Files, with the mixture of both story arc and monster-of-the-week formats. Like the first and second episode are more like the continuation of the original story arc, but the third episode is more or less a standalone episode. Like it!!
I truly don't get what you are on about. she had one dream because of the Sandman I doubt she is going to keep having them. Also, this trope, dream prophecies, is not new and had been used in countless books, movies and TV series. There are shade of similarities because both shows are swimming the same pool but quite honestly its not that close.
It's the whole. Add the tatoo/premonition dreams/Four Horsemen to the fact that they just found a very "Men Of Letters" base to work out of, and it's hard to overlook the similarities to a single show. It would be different if they gave them a Fringe lab at a college to work out of.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
This show is terrifying, but I absolutely love it. I need a full season and then a second and then more.
ReplyDeleteI ship Abbie/Ichabod so hard now. He wouldn't let her dream alone!
That hospital has some really shitty nurses...
Amazing episode!
I didn't like this episode it was to abby-centric. It also didn't have any great Icabob lines. Hopefully next weeks episode is better and returns the focus to Icabob.
ReplyDeleteAs expected, absolutely loved this episode!
ReplyDeleteThe Dreamworld was so cool and I will forever have nightmares about the Sandman. Seriously, that thing scared the crap out of me. Also, the humor in this episode was A+.
Ugh, I am loving this show more and more!
This show is awesome and continues to not disappoint, I can't wait to see where it continues to go.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to see more of Abbie's sister. And more Zombie Sulu.
ReplyDeleteLoved the episode, though not quite as good as the last 2.
ReplyDeleteI loved as usual. I loved the Sandman he was awesome. ReplyDeleteAm I the only one seeing a very heavy lift of Supernatural and the season three episode "Dream A Little Dream Of Me" in particular in this show?
ReplyDeleteThis show is freaking me out, but I can't stop watching it!
ReplyDeleteloved it. really liked adding in Abby's sister and possibly the Mohawk shaman as possible future allies in the battle.. still am extremely curious as to what the captain knows and what side (if any) does he play on? ReplyDeleteMost everything the Fringe TV series runners did is crazy good!

ReplyDeleteSupernatural didn't invent the concept.
ReplyDeleteI love love love Ichabod and Abby!

Way too much Abbie in this one for me too.
ReplyDeleteShe is the weak link of the series and an episode focused on her just highlighted her lack of acting chops.

I watch a lot of shows like that actually..
ReplyDeleteI just almost always prefer the episodes with stories heavier on the myth arc.
I agree, getting the meat is always better then the veg, so to speak, if its not balanced well sitting through the fence building eps can be a trial.
ReplyDeleteA lot slower than the first two episodes.

ReplyDeleteIt's such a fun show so far!!!!!!
I agree, except when it could be an inside joke.
ReplyDeleteI myself have been reminded of Pan's Labyrinth and Fringe, Alias and Dan Brown.
I like this episode much better than last weeks and that switch focus onto Abbie and showing a progression and strength with her character. Love that the shaman was also a car dealer! Much better than last week. I loved finally getting to see some of Abbie's backstory! Love her. I can't wait to see her and Jenny reunite next week.

What bout the ending right before she visit's her sister. How Ironic is it when Crane and Abby stood in front of the Scales of Justice lol
ReplyDeleteAwesome episode the best so far. I think the chemistry between Abbie and Ichabod was better episode after episode.
ReplyDeleteIt's better than the second episode.
ReplyDeleteright, but ask yourself where did Supernatural lift its stuff from. nothing new under the sun, just a repackage.
ReplyDelete
