  1. That was great! I loved it. Aww at Monroe and his girlfriend and baby. Whoa at the fact that Miles knew. And I kinda expected them to bond a little over the kids they had from affairs (the son and Charlie).

Figured Gene sold out Monroe, but didn't expect him to be in bed with the Patriots like that.

Poor Miles. I loved that moment with Charlie.

This show is getting better and better.

  2. I expected gene to be patriot. A week or so ago i commented how afiard i was they would make him bad and how much i didn't want that to happen. I'm still really mad that they went that way.

  3. Great ep. I love seeing new depths to Monroe. Can't believe Miles knew all along. Glad that Rachel has come around. Gene being on the Patriot's side is... wow. Next week is going to be awesome. This season just keeps getting better and better. Love this show!

  4. I loved this episode especially the end with rachel saving monroe. I knew he didn't die but i thought miles or charlie saved him so glad it was rachel. it shows real growth for her character as a mother and person. I was afaird they would turn gene bad and i'm sad/mad that i was right. Why couldn't they just have him be happy dr dad/grandpa and have one normal person in the family.

  5. Holy shit! I didn't think they would follow through with killing Monroe I thought someone or something would happen at the last minute...well,at least Rachel is digging him up! And now we learn about Gene! I knew something was going on but sheesh,i didn't expect this....

Charlie and Rachel really need to sit and talk. They haven't done that yet,and its going to take a lot to be friends let along mother and daughter..times a wasted there girls, better get to it!

I'm also getting a little tired of all the disposable characters.I wish one or two could actually join the group and turn out not to have their own agenda.Trying to survive is hard enough, the group could use a few good people on their side for awhile...

Great episode, can't wait for next week to see Monroe's reaction! Hope the ratings don't disappoint tomorrow?

  6. This ep kinda felt like filler to me and we know Monroe was going to survive. But next week looks really exciting.

  7. Really great episode. I knew Monroe will be okay, but the all development around him was excellent, Miles knew about the son, Rachel and Charlie issues and Gene turn to be a patriot.

In the other hand, I like Tom Neville part too, Jason was like a killer machine and I want to see more of this.

    Can't wait for next week.

  8. sooooooo much better this season.

  9. Loved it/ A little sad that nanites didn't come to Bass's rescue, but an "Alias" plot: 'fake death' serum seems right given the Revolution and Alias references on POI this week. I was almost sure that if the nanites didn't revive him, that Aaron would have lit everyone on fire and he could have escaped, but it didn't go that way either. Loved the comic Human Torch reference and the introduction to Bonnie. Reminds me a great deal of LOST and Fringe comic book references such as The Flash and Green/Red Arrow! Also nice little should out to Juliet again with the "making lunch for the enemy" speech!

Those who thought Gene is/was a traitor surely were paid off in this episode. I think he over estimates Rachel's value once she helps out Horn.

I was hoping Jason would get reprogrammed, but didn't think I was lucky enough to get what I wished for...Now we'll have to see if there is any deprogramming :p (but kudos to Allenford being true to her word!!) I hope it's not too quickly resolved though...

My dogs were barking through a couple of scenes and I was wondering if it was stated for sure that Shelly and the baby both didn't make it, or if it was possible another Monroe baby exists out there?

Interesting that Miles knows about Emma's baby and hid it, but I wonder if Miles was lying or not, but I hope not, because I think it's much more interesting if Miles knows where he is and if he kept in contact with him...

I hope Rachel and Charlie have a little more of a turn around. I'm still wondering if Monroe will turn out to be Charlie's father, since it really would explain Rachel's over all relationship with both Charlie and Monroe and would add a really nice element to how they wrote Charlie and Monroe together at the beginning of the season.

Really can't wait for Dr. Calvin Horn's episode next week!

  10. Does anyone now how big will winter break be?

    ReplyDelete
  11. Monroe said they both Shelly and the baby didn't make it.

I felt bad for Monroe, here he is about to die and Miles lets him know he knew about his son and hid him from Monroe all these years. Now that was COLD!..can't believe i'm feeling sorry for em,ha!

Yeah,i think you might be right about Monroe being Charlies farther.I thought it was because she was with him for all those years. If so she was one screwed up lady being involved with the 3 amigos!

    ReplyDelete
  12. Seeing this episode who's more evil MILES or MONROE ?

    ReplyDelete
  13. Thanks for letting me know about Shelly and the baby. I know even when he was younger he had problems, but now it's more like he keeps loosing his family and I wonder if this flashback is meant to mark a time where he begins to really loose it and become more of a monster!?

I've said it before, even though it probably serves Miles story better if he were her father, I still see physical commonalities, but also there's something about the way they have been written together, but it could all just be a ruse?!

I felt bad for him too and although I'm sure Monroe will always have another angle, it's nice to see him sorry and perhaps there's still a redemption arc out there for him!

    ReplyDelete
  14. It's probably going to be similar to last year because of Winter Olympics, which don't start till February. I'm thinking we're probably going to get a mid to late March date for returning and new mid season shows

    ReplyDelete
  15. Hands down Monroe.

I like Monroe, they have made him a much more enjoyable and likable character this year, but ultimately he's like this horrible drug and black hole that sucks everything in, including Miles. Monroe deserved to what he got from Miles and the towns people in the episode, because of the countess lives and families he has killed and/or destroyed.

In the bigger scheme of things both characters need redemption arcs, but Miles has already begun his at the start of the series when Charlie comes for his help...

    ReplyDelete
  16. Thank's,i soo need a third season and i'm scared that's not gonna happen!

    ReplyDelete
  17. I really doubt monroe is charlie's father. While I would believe something happened between rachel and monroe during the years he held her capture. There is no reason to believe anything happened between them before the blackout which is when charlie was concieved.

Either Miles or Ben is charlie's father. We know that miles and rachel had something between them when rachel married ben.

Since the show started they have dropped hints about miles being charlie's father. I'm starting to wonder if monroe knows that charlie is miles daughter. They way he protected her and the way he looked when he said look after your uncle. It won't surprise me if at the very least monroe knew about the affair and thought it was a possibility that charlie was mile's.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I'm scared too! I really wish we would have a greater fan base! It's just SO good this year!!!

    ReplyDelete
  19. It's true there isn't a lot of evidence, especially post black out relationship, but Monroe is the only one that calls Charlie by her real first name (Charlotte), he has saved her life twice, and they both have high cheekbones and piercing blue eyes.

Additionally it is Charlie that brings Monroe back into the fold this season and the exact exchange and reason Rachel allowed herself to be turned over to Monroe the day she left her husband and kids has not been explained. It's kind of a big mystery, especially since Monroe kept her alive for so long, before finally getting fed up and finding Ben and taking Danny.

    ReplyDelete
  20. ya the actors look alike. Lately they have been styling charlie's hair so it looks wet all the time, which makes it look darker and i think they are doing that to make her look more like miles.

They already explained that rachel left her family because of mile. She met up with miles and went with him. Miles thought that monroe killed rachel and thats why he left her with monroe, because he didn't know monroe still had rachel (he thought she was dead).

Monroe feels really strongly connected with miles and thats why he hasn't hurt/killed rachel or charlie because he knows how much miles cares about rachel.

While I would like to be surprised and have something not be predictable for once in order for me to believe a monroe/rachel relationship pre-blackout they would have to lay a new backstory with lots of evidence because right now there is none.

While i like jason i don't like him with charlie i was hoping charlie would get a new love interest either the bounty hunter guy, monroe's son (possible the same guy) or monroe.

    ReplyDelete
  21. "They already explained that rachel left her family because of mile. She met up with miles and went with him. Miles thought that monroe killed rachel and thats why he left her with monroe, because he didn't know monroe still had rachel (he thought she was dead).'

This is true, but we don't know WHY Rachel agrees to this. We do NOT know what the exact terms and conditions are of Mile's exchange and/or Rachel's
willingness to go along with Monro for all of those years...We also don't know HOW Rachael's death was staged and/or what conditions Miles was in when he saw her alleged body, but this current thing with Monroe could parallel that...

    ReplyDelete
  22. I don't think Monroe is Charlie's father, I still hope Charlie is Miles daughter and I think Monroe son will be someone new, maybe that guy Adam.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I thought that about Adam too at first, until Kripke said that Monroe's son hasn't been cast yet. So unless he flat out lied, then we haven't met him yet.

If they would have been straight lined the story with continuing to have Charlie and Miles pal up for the season, I would be more confidant that the obvious choice is going to be the truth of the matter, but things have been written in such a way, especially pertaining to Monroe and all of these "love interests of the past", cheating lovers, and female lovers dying themes (For sure: Jessica, Emma, Nora, Shelly. Thought of once to be dead and/or maybe dead: Rachel, Julia) make me very suspicious as to why we haven't just cut to the chase if it's SO obviously Miles?????

    ReplyDelete
  24. I like Jason and even Jason with Charlie, but I feel he needs to grow into himself more, which is why I was happy about the going off with his dad and now the 'reprogramming' aspect, because it lets us see another side to Jason and perhaps this will start him on another journey and/or lead us to another mystery in terms of trying to heal/restore him. However, he is not pictured in the promotional art and thus I could see that as a sign of killing him off before the season ends...

    ReplyDelete
  25. Wait, didn't Rachel leave Ben to go to live with Monroe. I seem to recall that in one of the flashbacks in S1?

    ReplyDelete
  26. I have to agree with you,i like Jason too but not with with Charlie. .
I had this whole scenario going. They would fall madly in love then find out he was Monroe's son.But now that we know Miles has been hiding him i doubt that will happen, even if the son joins the ragtag team to fight the fight...

    ReplyDelete
  27. I thought (think) that Miles was Charlies farther but DarthLocke4 makes a good point, and it makes sense when you think about it.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Ya that's what we're talking about. Rachel leaving with Miles, but ultimately on behalf of Monroe. Miles is the one she meets, but then we know she is with Monroe shortly there after and since Miles was co-running the Monroe Republic at that time, it seems likely the whole thing centers around some "deal" or "exchange", but the whole thing is vague at this point since no one seems to want to talk about it and/or the writers decided we don't deserve another flashback about it just yet :P

    ReplyDelete
  29. The thing is Monroe's son has to be like 5-10 yrs older than Charlie and Jason since Miles and Monroe were 18 and Emma 16 or 17 when she got pregnant.

I think both Charlie and Jason could be good for each other, but ultimately they both need to see who they are becoming before I think the audience could really buy their relationship. Jason especially just isn't very fleshed out, because he's been under this horrible shadow for the majority of his life (his father), but I think he could be written to be a more compelling character, if they can get him on another path...

  30. Awesome awesome episode. It reminded me a lot of episode 1x10 which was my favorite season 1 episode by far. I love the Monroe-Miles dynamic. Actually liked all of the dynamics at play in this episode. Charlie and Rachel were pretty good as well, as were Charlie-Miles and Rachel-Miles Of course Rachel Monroe still gets the prize because of how she ended up saving him. And in such a cool way. I never saw Gene as being the "traitor" but I kind of get where he is coming from, he truly believes he is doing the right thing. I think he is as good as dead though, they will end up killing him I think. Monroe's backstory with Miles was fascinating, I loved seeing how naive and purer he was back then and how he broke down after loosing the baby and his girlfriend like that. David Lyon was amazing in this episode, he deserves a lot of praise.

    ReplyDelete
  31. While I cannot find a way to disagree with this, I don't view neither of them as truly evil. They've both done horrible, awful things that in the real world would be despised forever, but in the context of the show, I don't think either are truly evil. While I do agree that both need redemption arcs and that Miles has started his already last year whereas Monroe is only starting his (barely), I think Monroe also came from a much more tragic place - loosing his girlfriend and baby whereas having the negative influence of Miles around him (he was the one being sucked in back then). Miles, however, remains unclear why he became the way he did back then. We never got a rational explanation for why he did the horrible things he did other than "survival", which while a justifiable end in itself, doesn't cover the entire spectrum of moral we are arguing here.

  32. Hm... I think they could go with 3 episodes or so in January. Viewing levels are typically good so it could be beneficial. Also, they are more likely to put the voice lead-out shows on hiatus but they have to air something during that time, so I think it's likely that we have some wednesday and thursday programming (friday programming should also be on due to the late start).

We could be looking at something like:
    11 episodes fall
    3 episodes January (14)
    2 episodes March (16)

4 episodes April (20) (a repeat somewhere in there)?
    2 episodes May (22)

Otherwise I think they will go as you said ad do:
    11 fall
    4 March (15)

    5 April (20)

    2 May (22)

    ReplyDelete
  33. I too am very scared. It is a true bubble show now and probably the best we can hope for untl the end of the year is that it doesn't fall any lower than that. I think it has a shot if the situation doesn't change much.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I forgot to comment on the Jason's storyline. There was so much going on with the main plot that I forgot about that. I was not entirely over the moon because it seems to me a bit unrealistic and poorly explained. How do they brainwash someone like that so easily and quickly? I was under the impression that not that much had elapsed since Jason was taken. Which kind of drugs do that? I found that weird. However, there is a lot of potential in there, so I wait to see what comes out of there, hopefully they explain it better.

Also, I thought there was a nice chance that Miles was lying, but I am not sure. I thought that it looked a bit like he did it out of spike. I mean he was fine with Monroe up until the moment he told he had slept with Emma. Then he got all pissed out and told him that he knew about his son all along. Which would be a natural reaction if he had just learned about him and Emma. But if he already knew, why would he be furious like that and change his attitude? I dunno. As for Charlie being his daughter, I think it would be a twist, yeah, but a bit creepy IMO, since there was a weird vibe between Monroe and Charlie earlier in the season. Also, when Charlie was captured by Monroe last year, wouldn't Rachel just tell Monroe that she was his daughter to save her and protect her? I don't think that's needed as part of the explanation as for why Rachel despises Monroe so much. He did held her captive during an infinite number of years, we forget that sometimes. He is also the man she believes to be responsible for the death of her son.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I kind of like your theory that monroe is aware that charlie is miles' daughter. For me that would make a lot more sense than having charlie be monroe's daughter. I also think that they have to be careful with how many characters they let the Rachel character sleep with. She cannot have been sleeping with Ben, Monroe and Miles all the same time, it could damage her character a bit too much I think.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I really hope they go back and revisit that. For me, that was one of the biggest mysteries of season 1 and I think it is still very important to explain the characters' relationships. Miles, Rachel and Monroe's dynamics particularly.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I am not 100% sure that Miles was telling the truth to Monroe. I think it's possible he lied to him after finding out that he had slept with Emma behind his back. We shall see. (Was that a survivor reference? ahah)

    ReplyDelete
  38. While I agree that it would be a bit underwhelming to make the Miles is Charlie's father reveal at this point since everyone that watches the show has suspected that already, I still think that it is just what makes the most sense. I don't agree though why is it that they are taking so long to reveal it if it's just going to be that, I have to give you a point there.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I think it was the fact that Charlie told her that he saved her life. I am kind of expecting her to open that coffin and say "that makes us even" and then walk away ahah

    ReplyDelete
  40. Good call. I didn't see it coming at all

    ReplyDelete
  41. Yes! Oh i'm so glad its not just me,ha!

  43. Through out history including things pertaining to Hitler and even US history, various kinds of drugs have been experimented with in relation to "bio-chemical" warfare.

    http://www.newyorker.com/reporting/2012/12/17/121217fa_fact_khatchadourian

You have good points about Rachel, but I think Rachel might think Everyone is safer "not" knowing the truth, but in the words of William Bell, "The Truth Will Come Out. It Always Does"...

For Bad Robot the idea of 'sleeper agents', hypnotic-like states, is VERY Alias...

    ReplyDelete
  44. I think we were promised 12 and 12 straight though with no interruptions???

    ReplyDelete
  45. Well I don't think any of them as per evil either, but the question was who is worse, not who is per evil.

I agree that we still don't understand the relationship, except that Monroe seems often to want every thing Miles has/wants. He won't let Miles be his own person and it leaves me to wonder if Bass had a horrible upbringing and/or an abusive father, let alone why have seen Mies out playing with Bass, instead of his own brother, despite that it's easy to speculate that Ben and Miles might have been at odds in terms of their interests (hence why Miles gets the knife passed down and not Ben).

    ReplyDelete
  46. I think they might kill Gene, but I could see him trying to save everyone else first, as he begins to see that they all might become expendable once Horn is done with them. I'm still hoping we get a Rachel centric episode here soon to better explain not only this Monroe deal, but also the relationship she has with her dad and seemingly lack there of with her mother...

    ReplyDelete
  47. Wow at those drugs, I wasn't that much aware of that,. It is kind of shocking to me I have to say. As you've said, I think we're supposed to go along with it for the most part and overlook the fact that timeline wise it doesn't make much sense.

As for the whole who is Charlie's father thing, I understand you. It is certainly fishy that the show is taking so much to reveal something that the entire fandom already knows by now, which would be the case of Miles is Charlie's dad. I think both stories have potential, I just think I would think the Miles and Charlie thing would feel more organic and aligned with the actions of all characters so far, especially Rachel. I really feel she would have had to reveal it last season to save Charlie. But I wouldn't hate the Monroe thing either I guess. I just don't want them to make it in a way that makes it look like they only did it to avoid the Miles option since we all knew that one.

    ReplyDelete
  48. No, I don't think so. I could be wrong but I think only ABC promised that. And actually after writing this, I checked that Chicago PD premieres the 8th of January so I think NBC will want all new Wednesdays for that month, which means Revolution is likely to roll by then too.

    ReplyDelete
  49. You know, it's sort of crazy but I kind of forget that Miles and Ben were even brothers. It's weird that you mention it even because it's like, we have no idea what that relationship was all about. I don't remember the last time I thought about it even ahah.

As for Miles and Monroe, I am all for more flashbacks, especially Monroe related! I really like his character, I find it fascinating in many ways! He is so conflicted.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I think they could show that Rachel centric especially her relationship with her mother when they deal with her own relationship with Charlie, it would tie in nicely. As for Gen's faith, I agree with you that they probably try to redeem him first before killing him.

    ReplyDelete
  51. It is shocking though, isn't it? I listen to NPR a great deal and I wish I could remember the name and author, but there was book more recently released that chronicled some of the US Government ones and it included weird things like Hollywood sets in order to experiment with drugs in certain environments and such. It was nuts!!

The only other reason I could see them go the Monroe route would also be to avoid the Charlie and Monroe's son potential romance (not that it would have to happen, but I think it likely would as a standard trope, but instead give her a half brother that would I think really make the whole family thing way more complicated, especially since it would contrast the loss of Danny...But ya, again it feels right and natural for Charlie to Miles...

    ReplyDelete
  52. Ben def seems to have been left on the back burner, but I'm hoping that because Aaron's one vision basically recreated (and reminded the audiences of) Ben's death, that perhaps when TG has more time, could mean we might be getting something important pertaining to him before the season ends. I know Lisa, who writes really nice Revolution reviews, feels the fire-nites might be an offshoot of Ben's tech, if it turns out not be some kind of convergence and/or something stemming from [the night of] the Tower....

They really have done a nice job with Monroe this year. I really liked the character in the Pilot, but then it felt like they suddenly made him into a bi-polar or psychotic character, who I thought was hard to relate too, but now I feel like we've gotten back to that image in the Pilot of someone far more complicated...

    ReplyDelete
  53. Agree with Monroe. My favorite season 1 episode is probably still "Nobody's Fault But Mine" and that was the first episode I started to really like Monroe because it was the first time they gave him the necessary depth and made him look more than a crazy villain. This year they've basically followed with the theme of that episode the whole season so far, which is awesome!

    ReplyDelete
  54. I see your point with Charlie but the romance did not have to be such a bad thing. I like her chemistry with Adam. I would actually enjoy Adam as Monroe's son honestly. We shall see.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I like Adam too and totally thought he would be Monroe's son, but unless Kripke lied, Monroe's son has not been cast yet...

    ReplyDelete
  56. I love that episode too and was the first time the Monroe could be Charlie's dad idea crossed my mind. But the whole episode was a really good one!

    ReplyDelete
  57. Yeah I saw you commenting that somewhere. There are some showrunners who have lied in the past, I have no idea if that would be his style or not. Maybe a Supernatural fan is more familiar with this? It seems unlikely though.

    ReplyDelete
  58. That episode better happen soon. I just can't wait to get a confirmation that Miles is Charlie's biological father.
