I loved it so much! Now completely depressed over Mulan/Aurora, though. Like that was 100% implying that Mulan's in love with her and then Aurora's knocked up. DAMN YOUR SPERM, PHILIP. Oh God, I need it like burning now.
I love Tinkerbell and I really hope she sticks around. She was awesome. I'm happy Neal finally made it to Neverland. Now he can fight Pan and The Lost Boys with his family and get his son back. Also, it was SO obvious that the man with the lion tattoo was Robin Hood but I still loved the reveal.
That would be very odd. She fell in love with two different people who are now having a child together? Forget about how shitty love triangles are, she's in a much worse situation if that's true.
Considering it was obvious since the very start, most likely last season. I mean if the whole "okay I gotta put her heart back in" sex metaphor did not clue you in, nothing will.
While I'm not a fan of the new robin hood as robin hood I think he would make a great love interest for Regina plus he has a son and we know Regina like being/trying to be a mom. I think they could really be happy together.
So happy to meet Tinkerbell, hope she sticks around for all the season! I loved very much season 1&2. But season 3, is by far the BEST season! Love everthing about this season ! Can't wait to see Regina meet Robin Hood ! :-)
- Sleeping Warrior being canon is awesome. I really wonder how they get out of this situation. Would not be surprised on if Philip ends up sacrificing himself again.
- All of the Emma/Regina interaction hilarity. And the hilarity of Regina's jealousy for Emma and Hook's whole thing. Nearly fell out of my chair when Regina called him "Emma's boyfriend".
- Just as I thought, I am kind of shipping Tinkerbell and Regina right now. Some serious chemistry right there.
I am really wondering on whether Tinker won't try to go after Blue Fairy if she does end up going with them back to Storybrooke.
Not a good day for Phillip, Neal or Blue Fairy fans. - Phillip will 1000% suffer "die for our ship" trope now. - Neal trying to use Robin's son as bait was ...ughhh - Blue Fairy was being Blue Fairy.
Only in Aurora's perspective was Mulan ever "in love" with Philip. Mulan was only happy when she was with Aurora, and she went out of her way to save her. She was willing to die (when Snow held a knife to her throat) to save her.
It's an interesting question. At first it seemed like she was in love with Phillip. I think it became pretty clear over time though that she was in love with Aurora. She spent a lot of time protecting Aurora and "putting her heart back in" at the end.
I was so thrilled to see the writers let Mulan have feelings for Aurora. I'm sure Tumblr is exploding right now.
Except for when she was staring lovelornly at Philip. Not like she's not in love with Aurora but come on. They specifically had it that way in The Outsider too.
Seriously one of the best episodes this show has given us. I love the background story of Regina actually having another love but being afraid of pursuing it. And she didn't even think she was ruining HIS life as well as hers (and Snow, and Charming, and her father and her horse...). Great plot twist with Mulan being the gay character because the writers denied it for soooo long. Poor mulan though!
I love how smart and resourceful Neal is. So excited for Neal to finally interact with his dad Rumple next week. Finally! Love MRJ and RC. Sean Maguire is great as Robin Hood. I like the bromance between him and Neal. I could get into Hood Queen but I also like Hook's vibe with Regina and Tink.
It's not like these writers plan that far ahead. Haha. If this show was alone based on eye!sex, well, everyone would be getting with everyone. I just think with the dialogue last season, and the whole act of Mulan literally putting Aurora's heart back, that it went a bit further than longing looks.
You people are too focused in Mulan being in love with Phillip for her to fall in love with Mulan. It's LOVE people, it's not black and white and definitely not Male OR female.
I'm really hoping that Phillip/Aurora/Mulan/Robin Hood/Maleficent become a major story arc down the line. They've teased us about something between Maleficent and Aurora's mother, and now there is Aurora's baby too. And I wasn't particularly keen on Robin Hood at first, but now it better connects Regina to a potential arc since she also has a relationship with Robin Hood (as do Belle and Rumple).
Here's hoping Believe and Mixology flop to free up the actresses. Sorry but we need more Mulan and Aurora!
'The Heart' how do people equate putting her heart back in with loving her? Right after Pjillip dies Aurora's heart get ripped out,why wouldn't she put her heart back in she felt responsible for her? Wouldn't you do the same?
I'm not saying Mulan shouldn't be,i just don't see it.
Well resourceful is one way to describe it. I can't say I was happy or impressed with him guilt tripping Robin Hood into using his four year old son to get himself a ride to Neverland.
Damn. Just think there was a real possibility that Regina could have been happy...living a normal life with a husband and kid/s...Now that is very sad...
Loved the introduction of TinkerBell Regina and Robin Hood: I called that it a while ago I feel sorry for Mulan. no SleepingWarrior Good to see Little John Robin Hood was clearly talking about Snow when he said Mulan wouldnt be the first woman to be part of his Merry Men. I cant believe Marion is dead . I also called it. I knew Henry was a Savior. Thanks to Neal for another Oz reference. Ruby Slippers anyone?? lol Neal Back!! and in NEVERLAND!!! I see the love triangle is about to start. Pan Crowed!!! Yes!!! Thank God. Hook Knows now Snow is going to find out about Charming. i hope he lives or die a Hero. #SaveCharming
It's a pretty clear sexual innuendo. But that's not the point. People don't ship them because of a scene with sexual tension. They ship them because Mulan really cares about Aurora and does everything she can to protect her. It's a caring, loving friendship that blossoms into something more, at least on Mulan's end of it.
Agreed with almost everything (and good catch with Snow being part of the Merry Men)
But you actually believed anything that came out of Peter's mouth when he was talking to Henry? My guess is that he's trying to lure Henry to WANT to stay at Neverland and that was just one more line he's feeding him.
Glad they didn't wait longer to bring Bae/Neal to Neverland but man they have to high tail it to Pan's camp and meet up with Neal/Bae and rumple b/c Hook is moving in on Emma stat here.
I liked this episode. The storytelling and pacing for each of th e"sections" was more exciting than previous episodes this season.
Neverland - All of the scenes in Neverland, in this episode, had depth and meaning. I liked the Charming family moments, and Charming's scene with Hook. Regina's scenes with Emma and with un-winged Tinkerbell gave a lot of character depth to Regina, which I've been waiting for. I'm glad the writers seem to going on a more gradual and consistent path to Regina's character arc this season, instead of the per episode flip flops of last season.
FTL flashbacks - Regina's pre-evil looks have always been a delight for me. I think they do beautiful hair and makeup for pre-evil Regina, and her wardrobe was apropos and pretty too. Tinkerbell, the Fairy, looked (thankfully) like an innocent fairy, as opposed to Blue Fairy's questionable hair, markeup, and wardrobe. I really liked Tinkerbell, as a fairy, as well as an unwinged, nonmagicable, darker person. I hope the show doesn't just drop her story, because I want to see her regain her wings again. Regina's true love was unsurprisingly revealed to be Robin Hood. I think their matching two R's names is cute. His lion tatoo is probably a nod to Richard, the Lionhearted.
FTL post-curse - Neal pretty quickly found a way to jump realms and leave FTL. Maybe being the son of The Dark One somehow afforded him some kind of realm-jumping power. I like Robin Hood so far. I look forward to when we can finally see Robin and Regina share scenes together, to see if they have any onscreen chemistry.
Mulan - I was a bit wary about the show all but stating that Mulan loves Aurora (and possibly Philip beforehand), because it seems like fan-pandering. Mulan and Aurora had good onscreen acting chemistry last season, but the jump to possible love, when the relationship wasn't necessarily shown or built up onscreen, seems to a bit left-field. However, I have to admit that the scene was done quite well. There was so much love and depth to that scene between Mulan and Aurora, it was convincing, good drama and angst, and bittersweet in that tragic way a love triangle usually is. I'm still convinced that Philip and Aurora are each other's true love, and each of them feel friendship love towards Mulan, but I did like that scene still. I'm glad we viewers were given closure to the Philip and Aurora story, with them finding happiness with each other again, and expecting a baby on the way.
I have to give some props to the show for actually pleasantly surprising me with this episode. They did a pretty good job with a tricky situation, with a rabid fanbase that can go either way with that (lesbian/bi hinting) scene. They introduced a new character, Tinkerbell, to the Once Upon a Time world, who actually seems to have a well-thought-out backstory, a clear and unique personality, that is well casted, with a competent actress. She seems to be holding her own with the group so far. I'm interested in seeing how she'll fare in future episodes. I was also happy with the character developments, for Regina obviously, but there was some great character moments for most of the rest of the cast too. I hope the show keeps this up and builds on this.
Also, consider this, "Mulan's in love with Philip" camp:
If Mulan was going to tell Aurora that she wanted to be with the man she loved - despite the fact that Aurora and Philip are together - why the hell would she be smiling about that? LOL, like "ha ha I'm going to go tell your boyfriend (husband? Are they married yet or just having unmarried unprotected sex? Scandalous for a princess! LOL) that I'm in love with him but I'm telling you first".
That doesn't make any sense. Mulan is clearly in love with Aurora.
I don't really care whose Mulan in love with cause the whole situation is just stupid, she was going to tell someone whose clearly in a serious loving relationship with someone else that she loved them? like what was she expecting? she saw the length those two went to save each other over and over again. This is clearly fanservice to shut fans up and Mulan will find her prince in time or just chill with the merry men until they find her a storyline.
otherwise, great episode. The Peter Pan storyline is my favorite by far, the connections with all the characters makes sense and are quite interesting. Not looking forward to the love triangle drama. why can't we have Hook with Tinkerbell instead? I saw chemistry and loaded history there, he calls her Tink! that's adorable lol.
I really don't understand the whole thing about Mulan, She was going to tell Aurora that she is in love with her, or in love with Philip?? i don't understand. The whole thing looks like Mulan is in love with Aurora but last season Mulan was "like" in love with Philip... so i don't know if it is a mistake from the writers o something.... I hope the Mulan is really in love with Aurora because is a twist never seen before in OUAT, and i remember in the COMIC-CON the creators say that they want to do a gay character...
I thought this episode was brilliant! Huge improvement on the last two, which I wasn't really feeling. I LOVED that Mulan is a lesbian! It seems really breakthrough due to the fact this is (Supposedly) a family show. I'm happy that Neal is in NL with the rest now, as with TinkerBell joining the gang (though I feel like she will die for some strange reason...), I didn't however like the Regina/Robin Hood, he just doesn't seem important enough to be her endgame relationship (if she is going to have one).
I loved it. I have been wanting Mulan/Aurora for some time. and Regina/ Hood sounds fun. I don't know how all this people will meet again, but knowing Robin Hood is Regina's true love sort of gives me hope that maybe there will be some mixing of the worlds again.
It was such a great episode! I loved every storyline in the first 35 minutes, I was like "Wow, that's how you make a good show! It's really, really good!". And then Mulan went to Aurora to tell her she loved her. And I was like "What?" and then I was like "Wow, that's how you make a great show!". This scene was the most beautiful scene the show ever did, also the saddest. It was amazing. My heart broke for Mulan.
I was confused too. Maybe we'll get to see that, just like we most likely will get to see them getting Philip's soul back in a future episode. Maybe it happened there...
How do they do Lana's hair so well but then Ginny looks so ridiculous in her wigs?
I might be going out on a limb here since there is no way of knowing what exactly what they are using but I think it's because with Lana they are using extensions whereas with Ginny there are using an actual wig. But I do agree, Lana's fake long hair looks a lot better than Ginny's.
I think the people who are against Mulan being in love with Aurora are oblivious to the fact that there is time gap in their story right now: They went on a mission to get Philip's soul back. I can easily see Mulan falling for Aurora during that time period.
I'm glad the writers seem to be going on a more gradual and consistent path to Regina's character arc this season, instead of the per episode flip flops of last season.
I agree, their attempts last season to redeem Regina were a mess.
Mulan and Aurora had good onscreen acting chemistry last season, but the jump to possible love, when the relationship wasn't necessarily shown or built up onscreen, seems a bit left-field.
Again, I agree but I think we might get to see Mulan falling for Aurora. TPTB hinted that they might show how Philip got his soul back, so maybe Mulan developed these feelings for Aurora while looking for the Wraith?
I was so confused during the whole scene. First I was thrown off by how happy Mulan was to see Aurora, then she said it was fine that Philip wasn't there because it was her she wanted to talk about which left me even more confused. It was only when she walked away sheding a tear that I finally understood what was going on.
Just got to say that I absolutely love the twists in this episode (especially Mulan being bisexual). Season 3 is really starting off well, I so hope it doesn't dip back down in quality like Season 2.
I think it's more interesting if Regina doesn't know his face. Then there's the possibility that when she does meet him, they hit it off before she sees the tattoo. Otherwise it's just weird and awkward, like an arranged marriage.
I find it really despicable that you wish for a child to grow up without his/her father just because you want to get the father out of the way of your ship. (And yes, I know it's just a TV show. I still think it's pretty nasty.)
I wasn't expecting it either, not that I don't think OUAT should have G & L characters, but rather it makes Mulan seem flighty or fickle about her feelings and it kind of feels out of place since she seemed such a steady take charge character...
It seems like they did it just to try and satisfy a certain part of their fan base...
I'm with you. I felt it was written in a way where Mulan was connecting with Aurora, because of her love Philip and that it was a new found admiration she saw in Aurora and not necessarily a romantic interest, as people of the same sex can admire each other and not be sexually attracted.
Holding a heart I don't think is like holding a sex organ, but holding someone's actual "essence" or "soul", which is more valuable IMO than sex, so there is some room for 'the crossing of the line', but I didn't think they were going to go there...I hope for the fandoms sake she's not going to suddenly get killed off (because I'm still waiting for more Believe press releases to see if JC is a series regular on that series...)
After i left here last night i was wondering if i missed seeing this relationship blossom? I was pretty unhappy with this show last season and i never went back to watch the episodes that i missed...I believe there were only 2,the most 3 but i'm pretty sure they weren't in them..
People can believe what they want, its very easy to see things the way you want them to be,to read into something that isn't there except in your eyes..Ugh,my brain hurts from thinking about this for hours!lol...
Even though I agree with you, I think it's more of a travesty for Philip in general, because it ultimately would defeat the effort of either women doing what they have been doing, let alone going and getting Philip. It's ultimately unfair for him, since clearly he wants a family with Aurora and his feelings for Mulan, so far are unrequited..
Yes, but she started out loving one person and then ended up loving another (in a relatively short time). I'm not disputing that a person can't love more than one person, whomever they are (which was a theme of the episode), just that it doesn't make Mulan look stable or constant in knowing her mind and it takes away from her masculinity and/or more male-like role that she was initially presented with.
I think we have to assume that the more official moment lies within is back story we haven't seen, which is when Aurora and Mulan are able to retrieve Philip from the Wraith...
But I have to say that maybe, because we do not yet have "proof" of actual events, that maybe Mulan doesn't "truly" love Aurora, but rather something magical happened to her (like a part of Philip's soul is in her or she ends up with another's heart or something weird), but maybe there is another reason for this other than simply falling in love????
I agree However, just as we don't have the saving Philip back story, don't we also have the saving Aurora back story...meaning we are to some degree in the dark on both of Mulan's accounts.
Eh, I don't want him to actually die. I knew I should have added "LOL" after that. In fact, I'm going to write a fic where he's honorable and steps back so Mulan and Aurora can be together, and the three of them co-parent the baby.
I think "love" can span beyond a little because clearly you can also "truly love" your children and not just you significant other (Emma/Henry - end of season 1), plus I think it would be pretty mean to say that once you lost your true love, you can never find another true love again, especially in a fate-orientated universe, which is no doubt pushing the characters to get to a better place, eventually
Not if the magic as sex metaphor has a precedent and one of people INVOLVED in said precedent also is part of this show.
The wording in the heart scene was very specifically chosen("have you done this before?"), the execution of the whole scene was sensual instead of tense and it was very reminiscent of Tara/Willow "doing magic" scene from Buffy Season 4, which was pretty much first openly positively displayed LGBT couple on tv.
Yes "holding a soul" symbolism also stands, but that actually ENHANCES the idea of the metaphor, making this "first experience" of theirs be something beyond physical emotions.
Then we have Mulan's comments about how gender does not matter to her before this, clear parallels to other OUAT pairings in how she protected Aurora over and over again, taking her life's value over her own.
Fanbase can interpret it the way they want, but the writer intent is clear and has been pretty much confirmed with this episode. It was a bit ambiguous before that, but the "correct" interpretation of those events has been shown this very episode and is right in line with what happened this episode.
I don't need to actually see it happening, poor wording on my part.I would like an inkling,a little peek,SOMETHING,lol.... ;) Now,i'll be hearing how obvious is was for the 10th time!
Now that would be interesting, and of course when it comes to magic anything can could happen...that would be a great twist!
"Fanbase can interpret it the way they want, but the writer intent is clear and has been pretty much confirmed with this episode. It was a bit ambiguous before that, but the "correct" interpretation of those events has been shown this very episode and is right in line with what happened this episode."
Not if the unkown back story reveals that Mulan is doing this for another reason having to do with "what it" took to save Philip.
I didn't say there wasn't a line there in which fans can interpret that way, but again going beyond physical existence is not getting turned on, because as you even said, it goes "beyond" it. (Sexuality is actually washed away in that kind of an experience) It's love transcending into a one in all existence in realizing how "delicate" life and individualism is.
''People read into things that aren't presented or obvious.''
Yes, it's called subtext! It's when things aren't explicitly stated to the viewers but they can figure it out yourself! Honestly, I am glad they are turning it into maintext, and hoping Mulan will get her princess eventually! :)
I think you're missing my point, Aurora and Phillip are married and in love with each other. Mulan is in love with one of them, okay fine. telling either of them will accomplish nothing unless Mulan didn't expect anything in return, but she was crushed so I assume she expected someone to run away with her or something and that's just crazy talk.
Neal was talking about confessing your love if you're hiding it out of pride kinda like him and Emma, not something you're not even sure the other party is reciprocating let alone married and in love with someone else.

all i can say is BEST EPISODE EVER! the chemistry between Tink and Regina OMGGGG! Mulan being gay WHAT IN THE AWESOME HELL¿? i wasnt expecting that! and HOOD being Regina`s true love OMGGG they need to get together ASAP!
she was the one that Help Aurora to get his to Philip we always though or at elast i did that she fall for Philip and i was shocked when i see Mulan almost saying everything to Aurora, idiot OPhilip why did you return lol
Oh boy, I love SleepingWarrior but I don't want Phillip dead!!! I've always seen the feeeeeels that Mulan felt for Aurora, but not vice versa, this is so tragic!!! Damn you Jane Espenson!! XD
I did not miss your point only adding that we have NO IDEA if Phillip ever lead Mulan on, because we have yet to see that back story either. It's possible that in Philip's case, there was reciprocation or implication.
Yes, but some people do take subtext too far. Especially when something like one's "heart" has several interpretations as there are several kinds of love and considering symbolically this "heart" represents one's essence.
I personally would have rather had a character out right be homosexual or bisexual then being so mysterious about it. IMO until we so both missing back stories (Mulan+Philip save Aurora, Mulan + Aurora save Philip) it makes me skeptical to trust her romantic under chores and her decision making process all together, because now she just appears scared and fickle...
to be honest I think it's way simpler than that, the writers felt the need to fanservice a fan base and get people talking about the show. I don't expect them to explain this situation any further, Mulan will simply find love somewhere else.
I'm thinking they might kill off Robin Hood when the time comes so Regina can have a son instead of Henry xD I'm pretty sure, she'll never be in a relationship so she might cause his death and then feel the need to redeem herself through his son or something.
Your right! I rewatched that part last night and his back was to her so how did she know he had a tat? Did she see him in passing at some point? There has to be more to it,and it would have been nice if we knew.
Mulan is a lesbian?? Now, that's a twist. But I think it might break all the rules of fairy tales since the characters usually have only one "the right one", am I right? So, if Phillipe belongs to Aurora and vice versa, and Mulan comes into the picture, does this mean a triangle love is possible in fairy tales? I think it's better if Mulan falls in love with a character who she really belongs to (maybe Tinker Bell seems she doesn't belong to anyone) rather than becoming a home wrecker. But I feel bad for Mulan, hope she finds her Mrs. Right.
Also I know triangle love has already happened with Rumple, Hook, and Milah, which is why that story is my least favorite because I have this childish naive belief that everyone has their own the right one in the land. Also there might be Emma, Neal, and Hook which I hope never happens... Wow, when you think about it, there are a lot of triangle love stories in this show. :/
And Robin Hood's the true love of Regina?? I almost could guess it when they show only a glimpse of who he was in the flashback, but my almost guess turned out to be true. Wow, this is interesting. I really want Regina to be happy so she could stop being a bitch all the time. But when Regina apologized for implying that Hook's Emma's boyfriend, I can see that she can be sensitive at times, which I like.
Now, I feel scared for David's life. I hope he finds a way to heal himself. :(
I think it's safe to declare that the show is back. Loved these last two episodes, it feels like season 1 again. I still struggle a bit to ignore the character assassination that was done in the later part of season 2 and I am still developing a strong hate for the Mary Margaret character but other than that, excellent episode. Pan is a great villain and I am really eager for their storyline. Loved having Tinker Bell and her storyline with Regina, even though I kind of wish we would get to see the characters having their own storylines without involving the core characters in every scene. I would like to see Aurora and Maleficent scenes for instance, same with Tinker and Pam, Mullan and the war. Whatever. I love that neverland gives us the perfect mix of action, twists and character exploration. Great stuff!
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
I loved it so much! Now completely depressed over Mulan/Aurora, though. Like that was 100% implying that Mulan's in love with her and then Aurora's knocked up. DAMN YOUR SPERM, PHILIP. Oh God, I need it like burning now.
ReplyDeleteI knew as soon as we saw the back of mystery guy that it would be Robin Hood.
ReplyDeletethat was oober predictable
ReplyDeleteMaking Mulan a lesbian huh? Didn't see that coming. I know a lot of people did, but I didn't.
ReplyDeleteYeah, not a lot of options, but I wasn't sure.
ReplyDeleteShe could be bi. I'm reasonably sure she was in love with Phillip too.
ReplyDeleteI loved it! Way better than last week.
ReplyDeleteI love Tinkerbell and I really hope she sticks around.
ReplyDeleteAre you kidding me? When did Mulan fall for Aurora?....
ReplyDeleteYep,agreed on everything!
ReplyDeleteThat would definitely suck.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I did find that a bit odd.... I'm not sure how I feel about it.
ReplyDeleteThere's been sexual tension from the start.
ReplyDeleteLast season it was really obvious.
ReplyDeleteI agree it came out of no where. Mulan was totally in love with Phillip
ReplyDeleteBut then she fell in love with Aurora on the journey with Emma, Snow, and the others.
ReplyDeleteI always thought she was in fall with Phillip, and Mulan was just protecting Aurora because of Phillip...
ReplyDeleteYeah,i'm not sure either..
ReplyDeleteConsidering it was obvious since the very start, most likely last season. I mean if the whole "okay I gotta put her heart back in" sex metaphor did not clue you in, nothing will.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure Writers made her a lesbian to shut up all people wishing an affair between Regina & Swan (Yark, she's her step great-grand-mother!)
ReplyDeleteWhile I'm not a fan of the new robin hood as robin hood I think he would make a great love interest for Regina plus he has a son and we know Regina like being/trying to be a mom. I think they could really be happy together.
ReplyDeleteYes,in love with Phillip not Aurora. Please with the sex metaphor.
ReplyDeleteSo happy to meet Tinkerbell, hope she sticks around for all the season! I loved very much season 1&2. But season 3, is by far the BEST season! Love everthing about this season ! Can't wait to see Regina meet Robin Hood ! :-)
ReplyDeleteThis was GREAT.
ReplyDelete- Sleeping Warrior being canon is awesome. I really wonder how they get out of this situation. Would not be surprised on if Philip ends up sacrificing himself again.

Not a good day for Phillip, Neal or Blue Fairy fans.
- Phillip will 1000% suffer "die for our ship" trope now.

- Blue Fairy was being Blue Fairy.
9000/5

ReplyDeleteYeah, Neal trying to use Robin Hood's son as bait was gross.
ReplyDeleteI want Phillip to go away (or die) so Mulan and Aurora can raise the baby together. Oops.
Tink, I really love Tink!
ReplyDeleteI liked it a lot. Regina's faces were A+ and so was her hair. How do they do Lana's hair so well but then Ginny looks so ridiculous in her wigs?
ReplyDeleteI loved Rumple being a total a-hole. Regina is his and nothing will get in the way of destroying her. I love their scenes together so much.
It's an interesting question. At first it seemed like she was in love with Phillip. I think it became pretty clear over time though that she was in love with Aurora. She spent a lot of time protecting Aurora and "putting her heart back in" at the end.

ReplyDeleteHere's hoping Believe and Mixology flop to free up the actresses. Sorry but we need more Mulan and Aurora!
Yep. Phillip/Death is my otp now :P
ReplyDelete'The Heart' how do people equate putting her heart back in with loving her? Right after Pjillip dies Aurora's heart get ripped out,why wouldn't she put her heart back in she felt responsible for her? Wouldn't you do the same?
ReplyDeleteI'm not saying Mulan shouldn't be,i just don't see it.
Well resourceful is one way to describe it. I can't say I was happy or impressed with him guilt tripping Robin Hood into using his four year old son to get himself a ride to Neverland.
ReplyDeleteDamn. Just think there was a real possibility that Regina could have been happy...living a normal life with a husband and kid/s...Now that is very sad...
ReplyDeleteThat is true.
ReplyDeleteThey had a whole lot of time together - just the two of them while trying to find a way to save Phillip.
ReplyDeleteOnce again A great episode
ReplyDeleteLoved the introduction of TinkerBell
Regina and Robin Hood: I called that it a while ago
I feel sorry for Mulan. no SleepingWarrior
Good to see Little John
Robin Hood was clearly talking about Snow when he said Mulan wouldnt be the first woman to be part of his Merry Men. I cant believe Marion is dead .
I also called it. I knew Henry was a Savior.
Thanks to Neal for another Oz reference. Ruby Slippers anyone?? lol
Neal Back!! and in NEVERLAND!!! I see the love triangle is about to start.
Pan Crowed!!! Yes!!! Thank God.
Hook Knows now Snow is going to find out about Charming. i hope he lives or die a Hero. #SaveCharming
Aurora: "Have you done this before?"
ReplyDeleteMulan: "No"
*sticks heart back into her*
It's a pretty clear sexual innuendo. But that's not the point. People don't ship them because of a scene with sexual tension. They ship them because Mulan really cares about Aurora and does everything she can to protect her. It's a caring, loving friendship that blossoms into something more, at least on Mulan's end of it.
Agreed with almost everything (and good catch with Snow being part of the Merry Men)
ReplyDeleteBut you actually believed anything that came out of Peter's mouth when he was talking to Henry? My guess is that he's trying to lure Henry to WANT to stay at Neverland and that was just one more line he's feeding him.
As i said (somewhere here) i didn't read it that way.
ReplyDeletethats what im thinking
ReplyDeleteyeah Im pretty sure this was to placate those fans pulling for an LGBTQ ship
ReplyDeletei believe pan. he has no reason to lie
ReplyDeleteGlad they didn't wait longer to bring Bae/Neal to Neverland but man they have to high tail it to Pan's camp and meet up with Neal/Bae and rumple b/c Hook is moving in on Emma stat here.
ReplyDeleteA lot - and I mean a lot - of people saw it that way.
ReplyDeleteI liked this episode. The storytelling and pacing for each of th e"sections" was more exciting than previous episodes this season.
ReplyDeleteNeverland - All of the scenes in Neverland, in this episode, had depth and meaning.
ReplyDeleteIf Mulan was going to tell Aurora that she wanted to be with the man she loved - despite the fact that Aurora and Philip are together - why the hell would she be smiling about that? LOL, like "ha ha I'm going to go tell your boyfriend (husband? Are they married yet or just having unmarried unprotected sex? Scandalous for a princess! LOL) that I'm in love with him but I'm telling you first".
That doesn't make any sense. Mulan is clearly in love with Aurora.
I don't care when, with whom or how it happens, the mere possibility of Regina having some love in her life warms my heart.
ReplyDeleteI don't really care whose Mulan in love with cause the whole situation is just stupid, she was going to tell someone whose clearly in a serious loving relationship with someone else that she loved them? like what was she expecting? she saw the length those two went to save each other over and over again. This is clearly fanservice to shut fans up and Mulan will find her prince in time or just chill with the merry men until they find her a storyline.
ReplyDeleteotherwise, great episode.
ReplyDeleteI thought this episode was brilliant!
ReplyDeleteI was hoping Regina's love interest would be Prince Eric so she can be Ursula
ReplyDeleteI loved it. I have been wanting Mulan/Aurora for some time. and Regina/ Hood sounds fun. I don't know how all this people will meet again, but knowing Robin Hood is Regina's true love sort of gives me hope that maybe there will be some mixing of the worlds again.
ReplyDeleteIt was such a great episode!
ReplyDeleteI didn't see it coming either. I was like "Wait, what just happened?" But I'm glad the show finally dealt with Mulan's feelings.
ReplyDeleteAlso, it was SO obvious that the man with the lion tattoo was Robin Hood but I still loved the reveal.
ReplyDeleteI would have liked it if they would have at least seen each other, so they could recognize each other should they someone meet each other again.
I was confused too. Maybe we'll get to see that, just like we most likely will get to see them getting Philip's soul back in a future episode. Maybe it happened there...
ReplyDeleteHow do they do Lana's hair so well but then Ginny looks so ridiculous in her wigs?
ReplyDeleteI might be going out on a limb here since there is no way of knowing what exactly what they are using but I think it's because with Lana they are using extensions whereas with Ginny there are using an actual wig. But I do agree, Lana's fake long hair looks a lot better than Ginny's.
I was actually a little grossed out that Neal used a toddler as a bait. I guess the end justifies the means...
ReplyDeleteI think the people who are against Mulan being in love with Aurora are oblivious to the fact that there is time gap in their story right now: They went on a mission to get Philip's soul back. I can easily see Mulan falling for Aurora during that time period.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad the writers seem to be going on a more gradual and consistent path to Regina's character arc this season, instead of the per episode flip flops of last season.
ReplyDeleteI agree, their attempts last season to redeem Regina were a mess.
ReplyDeleteFor all we know, Mulan could have fallen for Aurora while they searched for Philip's soul.
ReplyDeleteWell if they were going to make any Disney princess a lesbian, choosing the warrior who disguised herself as a man isn't a huge stretch.
ReplyDeleteJust got to say that I absolutely love the twists in this episode (especially Mulan being bisexual). Season 3 is really starting off well, I so hope it doesn't dip back down in quality like Season 2.
ReplyDeleteI think it's more interesting if Regina doesn't know his face. Then there's the possibility that when she does meet him, they hit it off before she sees the tattoo. Otherwise it's just weird and awkward, like an arranged marriage.
ReplyDeleteLove at first sight is a big thing in Fairytales.
ReplyDeleteHis back was to her, but the tattoo on his arm was still visible. Tinkerbell poited it out to Regina before she went away.
ReplyDeleteI find it really despicable that you wish for a child to grow up without his/her father just because you want to get the father out of the way of your ship. (And yes, I know it's just a TV show. I still think it's pretty nasty.)
ReplyDeleteI wasn't expecting it either, not that I don't think OUAT should have G & L characters, but rather it makes Mulan seem flighty or fickle about her feelings and it kind of feels out of place since she seemed such a steady take charge character...
ReplyDeleteIt seems like they did it just to try and satisfy a certain part of their fan base...
I'm with you. I felt it was written in a way where Mulan was connecting with Aurora, because of her love Philip and that it was a new found admiration she saw in Aurora and not necessarily a romantic interest, as people of the same sex can admire each other and not be sexually attracted.
ReplyDeleteHolding a heart I don't think is like holding a sex organ, but holding someone's actual "essence" or "soul", which is more valuable IMO than sex, so there is some room for 'the crossing of the line', but I didn't think they were going to go there...I hope for the fandoms sake she's not going to suddenly get killed off (because I'm still waiting for more Believe press releases to see if JC is a series regular on that series...)
After i left here last night i was wondering if i missed seeing this relationship blossom? I was pretty unhappy with this show last season and i never went back to watch the episodes that i missed...I believe there were only 2,the most 3 but i'm pretty sure they weren't in them..
ReplyDeletePeople can believe what they want, its very easy to see things the way you want them to be,to read into something that isn't there except in your eyes..Ugh,my brain hurts from thinking about this for hours!lol...
Needless to say yes,I agree with you!
again, I don't see the point in telling anyone. she will be crushed either way cause neither Phillip nor Aurora are in love with her.
ReplyDeleteIt would be funny if she's just using Aurora to get Philip, but it does seem that perhaps she's in love with both of them!
ReplyDeleteEven though I agree with you, I think it's more of a travesty for Philip in general, because it ultimately would defeat the effort of either women doing what they have been doing, let alone going and getting Philip. It's ultimately unfair for him, since clearly he wants a family with Aurora and his feelings for Mulan, so far are unrequited..
ReplyDeleteYes, but she started out loving one person and then ended up loving another (in a relatively short time). I'm not disputing that a person can't love more than one person, whomever they are (which was a theme of the episode), just that it doesn't make Mulan look stable or constant in knowing her mind and it takes away from her masculinity and/or more male-like role that she was initially presented with.
ReplyDeleteI think we have to assume that the more official moment lies within is back story we haven't seen, which is when Aurora and Mulan are able to retrieve Philip from the Wraith...
ReplyDeleteBut I have to say that maybe, because we do not yet have "proof" of actual events, that maybe Mulan doesn't "truly" love Aurora, but rather something magical happened to her (like a part of Philip's soul is in her or she ends up with another's heart or something weird), but maybe there is another reason for this other than simply falling in love????
I agree However, just as we don't have the saving Philip back story, don't we also have the saving Aurora back story...meaning we are to some degree in the dark on both of Mulan's accounts.
ReplyDeleteEh, I don't want him to actually die. I knew I should have added "LOL" after that. In fact, I'm going to write a fic where he's honorable and steps back so Mulan and Aurora can be together, and the three of them co-parent the baby.
ReplyDeleteI think "love" can span beyond a little because clearly you can also "truly love" your children and not just you significant other (Emma/Henry - end of season 1), plus I think it would be pretty mean to say that once you lost your true love, you can never find another true love again, especially in a fate-orientated universe, which is no doubt pushing the characters to get to a better place, eventually
ReplyDeleteNot if the magic as sex metaphor has a precedent and one of people INVOLVED in said precedent also is part of this show.
ReplyDeleteThe wording in the heart scene was very specifically chosen("have you done this before?"), the execution of the whole scene was sensual instead of tense and it was very reminiscent of Tara/Willow "doing magic" scene from Buffy Season 4, which was pretty much first openly positively displayed LGBT couple on tv.
ReplyDeleteNow that would be interesting, and of course when it comes to magic anything can could happen...that would be a great twist!
"Fanbase can interpret it the way they want, but the writer intent is clear and has been pretty much confirmed with this episode. ReplyDeleteNot if the unkown back story reveals that Mulan is doing this for another reason having to do with "what it" took to save Philip.
Yeah.. totally.. like you saw him and I mean the lion means bravery.. Even if you didn't recognize him by his hair cut^^
ReplyDeleteReally? I've always thought Mulan was in love with Philip.. But could be this way too.. I mean isn't it kinda leading towards Robin/Mulan now?
ReplyDelete''People read into things that aren't presented or obvious.''
ReplyDeleteYes, it's called subtext!
ReplyDeleteNeal was talking about confessing your love if you're hiding it out of pride kinda like him and Emma, not something you're not even sure the other party is reciprocating let alone married and in love with someone else.

all i can say is BEST EPISODE EVER! the chemistry between Tink and Regina OMGGGG! Mulan being gay WHAT IN THE AWESOME HELL¿? i wasnt expecting that! and HOOD being Regina`s true love OMGGG they need to get together ASAP!
ReplyDeleteshe was the one that Help Aurora to get his to Philip we always though or at elast i did that she fall for Philip and i was shocked when i see Mulan almost saying everything to Aurora, idiot OPhilip why did you return lol
ReplyDeleteOh boy, I love SleepingWarrior but I don't want Phillip dead!!! I've always seen the feeeeeels that Mulan felt for Aurora, but not vice versa, this is so tragic!!! Damn you Jane Espenson!! XD
ReplyDeleteI did not miss your point only adding that we have NO IDEA if Phillip ever lead Mulan on, because we have yet to see that back story either. It's possible that in Philip's case, there was reciprocation or implication.
ReplyDeleteYes, but some people do take subtext too far. Especially when something like one's "heart" has several interpretations as there are several kinds of love and considering symbolically this "heart" represents one's essence.
ReplyDeleteI personally would have rather had a character out right be homosexual or bisexual then being so mysterious about it. IMO until we so both missing back stories (Mulan+Philip save Aurora, Mulan + Aurora save Philip) it makes me skeptical to trust her romantic under chores and her decision making process all together, because now she just appears scared and fickle...
I hope Regina and TinkerBell will be friends again. And Neal is in Naverland! Could be very exciting!
ReplyDeleteto be honest I think it's way simpler than that, the writers felt the need to fanservice a fan base and get people talking about the show. I don't expect them to explain this situation any further, Mulan will simply find love somewhere else.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you're right, but we are just discussing it.
ReplyDeleteI'm more afraid that she will be killed off...
I'm thinking they might kill off Robin Hood when the time comes so Regina can have a son instead of Henry xD
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure, she'll never be in a relationship so she might cause his death and then feel the need to redeem herself through his son or something.
Your right! I rewatched that part last night and his back was to her so how did she know he had a tat? Did she see him in passing at some point? There has to be more to it,and it would have been nice if we knew.
ReplyDeleteGlad there are a few of us who were confused.People read into things that aren't presented or obvious.
ReplyDeleteI could care less if she was in love with 2 women or 2 men.I like to know WHEN this happened.I didn't see it happening.
ReplyDeleteMulan is a lesbian?? Now, that's a twist. But I think it might break all the rules of fairy tales since the characters usually have only one "the right one", am I right? So, if Phillipe belongs to Aurora and vice versa, and Mulan comes into the picture, does this mean a triangle love is possible in fairy tales? I think it's better if Mulan falls in love with a character who she really belongs to (maybe Tinker Bell seems she doesn't belong to anyone) rather than becoming a home wrecker. But I feel bad for Mulan, hope she finds her Mrs. Right.
ReplyDeleteAlso I know triangle love has already happened with Rumple, Hook, and Milah, which is why that story is my least favorite because I have this childish naive belief that everyone has their own the right one in the land.
Really? I think I missed that spoiler about them possibly showing Mulan and Aurora getting Phillip's soul back. Thank you for your reply.
ReplyDeleteI think it's safe to declare that the show is back.
