  1. I see their sibling-like relationship too honestly.
However, it is all too common for two bickering people working closely together to become a couple on many series.

The combination of their names into one name doesn't help. Likewise with Skye-Ward...

  2. I enjoyed this episode a lot! Definitely better than the pilot which was a relief :) Looking forward to next week too. I'm okay with the potential romance they are clearly hinting between Skye & Ward IF it goes hand & hand with Skye's whole split loyalties thing too. But romance by itself - meh. As for Fitz & Simmons, I'm definitely getting a brother-sister vibe, so I hope that stays platonic - I liked them a bit better this episode, so I'm hoping they'll continue to grow on me. Really liked Melinda May though. Hope we get lots more of her & her back story.

  3. loved it! nice touches getting the dysfunctional group to finally work together as a team while adding some little tidbits about Agent May and Coulson... and of course - the cameo bit by SLJ! obviously wondering what the heck Skye might be up to and you got to figure that Coulson is well aware of what's going on and might be playing her back....

  4. Let me just say that the investment in this show is quite remarkable. I can't remember anything with such a high production level, such great special effects or guest appearances (Samuel L Jackson was there, I'm starting to believe my dream of having one of the avengers might not be so surreal after all).

  5. I thought of them like Samneric, not like a shipper name.

  6. I want more character. There is just so much going into each episode. I'm hoping they hit a nice pace. Loved the Fury scene at the end.

  7. YES, much better! This should have been the pilot. The cameo was really cool and unexpected (no spoilers here, that's SPOILERTV.COM/ job). The "Calvary" a.k.a. Agent May.............now how many of you want your own shield? This episode was loaded with references to the comic/movie franchises ie: "The Hammer - Thor" and "Gamma Radiation - Bruce Banner/HULK". Now I'm looking forward to episode 3, and to bad about the fish tank. 4 YOUR VERY OWN "CALVARY", I am Nobody!!!

  8. Did the fish tank thing, seem like a Normandy SR-2 reference to anyone else?

  9. It's better than the first.

  10. Like Sleepy Hollow this show is really tropey so like a lot of it can be predictable but it is also really damn fun and as someone who watches a lot of intense dramas having some well acted/directed/written fun in my TV schedule is very much welcomed.

I like that the team are bonding, that Skye is still untrustworthy, that Melinda May is wonderful, that Fitzsimmons are adorable, that hey even Ward is getting a personality!

  11. Yeah I get a siblings vibe I would be surprised if they went down the romantic route, Fitz seems to be crushing on Skye and Simmons seems very impressed by Agent May.

  12. After two episodes I finally stopped geeking out all the time because COULSON IS ON MY FRIGGIN TV! ...then Fury shows up :D

  13. Exactly! I think the production must have cost enourmous amount of money. But I think they take it as an investment - they spend loads on this show but it will potentionally bring new viewers into the Marvel franchise. Like an advertisement brought on entirely new level.

It's actually quite clever. During next few episodes we might get some hints about the new Thor movie that will make us believe we absolutely have to see it (RIGHT?!). Considering that they get a lot of money back from TV commercials, even if the production costs were higher than the returns, it would still be much cheaper than a billboard on Times Square.

  14. Every time they drop a quote like that I grow fonder of the show, because it feels like they're rewarding us for being fans :)

  15. Now that I think about it; wasn't she the one pushing the most about working together? Whedon irony at its best! :)

Anyway, awesome: To me it's ''just like the first''. Great start to an amazing show IMO! :)

  16. A lot better than the pilot, enjoyed the pace and dynamic between the team. Can't wait to find out more about Skye and the Rising Tide, more about Melinda's background and how she earned the nickname "The Cavalry". And I don't really ship people but Fitz saying Ouch because Ward patted him too hard on the back kinda made me ship them... (Stop judging me, I already hate myself for irrationally shipping two people who will never be together. >_>)

  17. It's like a bad Michael Bay movie. Is it redundant to use "bad" and "Michael Bay movie" in the same sentence? XD

Hehe, it is kinda redundant. It's called Pleonasm. It's like saying dead corpse. :D

  18. "Technically Stark's a consultant."

I'd be surprised if Robert Downey Jr doesn't make an appearance during sweeps month.

  20. This is like watching a movie, I am so glad he did not go with Fox for this. I loved the pilot and this was even better. Go Joss.

Definitely better then the pilot more realistic and marvel like the pilot was cheesy. I would just like to state it and call it now, I think Coulson was ressurected by magic hopefully by Doctor Strange (so marvel can introduce him!) Loved the nick fury cameo! he's one of the most expensive actors today and he made a cameo on the show :) Go Clark and Joss!

  22. I do hope so it be nice to see him or the others but they have there movies to do so.

  23. Started slow but it really built. I loved it. I love the team dynamics that are forming and I am glad that we are seeing it from the start, it makes for a better experience. I loved The Bus, I hope they get it back to shape soon! Ward is interesting and so is Melinda May. A lot of potential going around. I really enjoy this show, so glad!

  24. Another fun episode! The storylines, action, and tech are all really cool. So far, the weakest links are the newbie characters imo. My favorite are Coulson, of course, and May. The junior members need some work though.

Tech geeks - Tech speak is hard enough to keep up with without adding a British accent to it (which didn't sound like proper Queen's English to me, but I could be wrong).

Ward - Ward is not very charismatic, and with May around, seems a bit superfluous to have around. All the speak of how good Ward is, without much proof, makes it seem like a used-car-salesman pitch. He needs a lot more character development, and some kind of direction, because he seems aimless so far to me.

Skye - The new tech girl has potential imo, but she needs a bit more depth. They may need to get rid of the forced pairing with Ward, since the two are really boring together so far. Perhaps later on in the series, with some buildup for their relationship, I'll buy them as a potential pairing more.

The Team - I don't see much chemistry between any of the characters yet. Perhaps that will come with time.

Since it's only been two episodes, I'll keep giving the show a shot, since it's still fun to watch for me, as a whole, despite the nitpicking. I hope the show works out its kinks soon.

  25. Awesome of course!

  26. Much better pacing than the pilot which felt manic to me at times!

Loved the walk on by Samuel L Jackson at the end.
Too bad about the fish tank! XD

Fitz-Simmons still irk me. The combination of the ridiculously unneeded tech speak, the accents, and the score music make it hard for me to understand everything they say. That is not a problem I have with most shows including the many British shows I watch.

I know I will be in the minority for this, but the score music still bothers me. Too much and too loud. It's like a bad Michael Bay movie. Is it redundant to use "bad" and "Michael Bay movie" in the same sentence? XD

I giggled realizing that Fitz names his scanners after the Seven Dwarfs! XD
    02 Sleepy, 05 Sneezy etc

Two smallish gripes aside, I found this episode to be better than the pilot. The VFX were still quite good and used in the right spots. Great action for a TV series, and of course good humor! It's a keeper for ABC, although I do expect the numbers to fall more. As much as I like "Whedon-speak" I know it really aggravates some people.
