excellent ep - I wasn't expecting that flip that Carrie was working with Saul the whole time.... well done. I could've done without the teen angst plot, however....
I'm hoping they will remove the entire Brody family at this point, as I've not seen their reason for remaining on the show at all.But it's not like I care about Brody's character at all anymore either though.
Great episode, except for the Brody family. I'm at the point where I won't watch this show live, only recorded so I can fast forward any scene with a Brody in it.
I was intrigued by the flip of what Carrie has been doing. I figured she would become a double agent, but I didn't foresee Saul behind it. That was the ONLY thing I enjoyed, the parts with Carrie. I cannot understand the amount of time on the Brody family. It is NOT compelling and I could care less about the daughter, spoilt brat that she is, and the mom, oi vey. Just go back to Brody himself and Carrie. That is what makes the show exciting and interesting. There is a huge drop in the story line with all this Brody family storyline. I"m almost ready to stop watching--I feel like the fan who fast forwards the Brody family scenes.
Dana and the Brody family will not be going away anytime soon i'm afraid. http://www.tvguide.com/News/Homeland-Game-On-Postmortem-Alex-Gansa-1072323.aspx
Maybe because it 's a thing that only Saul and Carrie must know and noone else in the CIA. So he must continue the act in front of them to make it real.
I just find their story very slow and actually boring. It seems to amble along, and I'm not watching this show for teen angst. I could watch CW shows for that. I like political thrillers, and that was what drew me to this show originally. Carrie as a double agent, that twist in the story was interesting and though I thought she'd go there, I didn't foresee Saul's hand in the planning of that. That twist was compelling. That woke me up....
This was an amazing episode, yes. Much better than what we had gotten so far. I still didn't think it was on par with the first seasons because I saw the twist coming (it would be character assassination and one of the worst writings ever if Carrie were to betray her country like that) but it was extremely well done and very nice to see it play out. I also liked the Dana thing. I know people hate on her and her storyline but I find it very compelling. And I had never seen a tv or a movie or whatever about the effect that a terrorist attack has on the family of the terrorists. I find it very interesting and sad. The thing with this season though is that while Homeland used to do an excellent job at character development and plot twists/action, now we are left solely with the first part. While that is done incredibly well, I miss stuff like now knowing if Brody was good or bad, not knowing when he would betray Carrie, etc. Also, Claire Danes just wows me with every single episode, she is out of this world.
Disagree. I find the Dana storyline very compelling and interesting. I had never seen such story portrayed on a tv show, book, movie, whatever. I think it's quite dramatic, sad and interesting. Sure, it's not dramatically exciting, as in no twits or whatever, but character wise, it is very fascinating IMO.
I don't particularly care for Dana but yes,it is compelling. We or at least i have never seen a series that shows what happens to the family of a terrorist,or a solider who is missing in action or prisoner of war.
How has she been selfish beside the attempted suicide? I see that a lot of people don't like the Brody-family story line, but I find it intriguing to see what the aftermath is like for them. Yes, the rush/speed of Carries story line is brought down a bit, but if it weren't for those interruptions you would either have a much shorter show or a show solely focussed on a very stretched Carrie story line. Both would probably not improve the show imo.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

ReplyDeleteWhoa! I did not see that coming! I see another Golden Globe award in Claire's future!
ReplyDeleteAmazing episode.
ReplyDeleteOne question tho, if Carrie and Saul had this planned, then why would Saul tell Dar Adal to get Carrie off the streets?
Maybe because it 's a thing that only Saul and Carrie must know and noone else in the CIA. So he must continue the act in front of them to make it real.

ReplyDeleteI watch the mostly for that too, I just don't mind the rest. But I respect your opinion. ;)
ReplyDeleteI agree on everything you said.

ReplyDeleteI think it's because he doesn't trust Dar Adal.
ReplyDeleteI actually saw it coming but it was still nice to see it play out.

ReplyDeleteThank you! I also find it very compelling, glad that at least I'm not alone!

ReplyDeleteExactly, that's what I have been saying!
ReplyDeleteWell, then we disagree. And I'm glad it's now over, I hope. Carrie's story is now the compelling one that I hoped it would become.
