Only hilarity can come out of Lemon and Wade's fake relationship lol. I was pretty surprised by that kiss at the end. What a way to make a private lie of a relationship into a very public lie of a relationship.
I was pleasantly surprised by Lemon's secret affair with Meatball, so I am looking forward to the complications with that and now her fake relationship with Wade. I am still unsure about the who George thing.
I hope it does. It'll shake things up a bit and go in a different direction. As much as I like this show, pretty much all of the major ships were established in the very first episode. Lemon and Wade (Lemonade) is one that wasn't predictable.
I understood from the previews that they were going to try to hit the reset button, but this felt like they were trying to remake the pilot--down to the bus scene?!?! The pilot wasn't that good.
My confusion from the end of last season continues--what are they even doing. I hope they have a plan, but sheesh. George and Lemon's training montage was the best part of the episode. I get what they are doing with the fake Lemon/Wade thing, but what I can't understand is why they can't give Wade a legit love interest of his own.
I think that may come yet. Wade was never one who really sought out serious relationships other than with Zoe. Wade also expected Zoe to return. I think the Lemon and Wade thing will be very short-lived. I don't see it turning real so at that point there isn't really a point in dragging it out. It only holds back Lemon and Wade. I won't be surprised if we do end up seeing Wade with a love interest but only later in the season.
Finally, an intelligent comment about this show. Some people just can't understand but want it now, now and now! I mean, logically, Wade's very into Zoe, so it wouldn't make sense for him to have a love interest in episode one. I'm sure if he did, the same person complaining about him not having a love interest would complain about him having a love interest too soon. Gahh....
This is quite a slow-paced first episode, contrary to the first episode of season 2 which was very chaotic in a good way. But this episode is very nice too. I actually like Joel so so very much. He's sweet and very decent. I think this is what the show needs, someone unfamiliar to be the love interest, possibly a stable one to Zoe. Some people complain about Wade, some complain about George, so I guess people can't complain much about Joel since he's new. I don't think it'd be the first show to not go along with the presumed shippings from the first episode of first season. I'm sure given time, people will warm up to Joel, provided that he stays this decent and sweet.
It's been two seasons. George is onto his third non-Zoe love interest--even while they went on and on that he was still hung up on her and her on him. They've never brought anybody in for Wade and we haven't seen any spoilers or cast notices that would indicate they are considering it. I'd like to see them consider it and let the story move forward.
They might be trying to hit the reset button because they wrote themselves in a corner, but I'm not forgetting season 2. Zoe and Wade split up in an irrevocable manner, I'm not interested in pining. If they wanted to keep that door open, they shouldn't have had Wade cheat. I don't think the writers know where they are going and that's what worries me. Hitting start over with a new triangle arrangement is just odd for me. And Zoe finding a happy stable, I'm romantically put together relationship in like a few months is silly. I am just confused about what they are even trying to do--storywise, what they thought the fish out of water stuff was what made the show charming so now Joel gets to take that role? Um, no that's like Saved by the Bell The New Class. romantically, with George's character, with Jamie King's pregnancy, the Rammer Jammer business that was such a big plot last season and now is gone? Where are they even going?
Given that you have great difficulty understanding my comments, I'd consider refraining from making assumptions based on nothing. It's wrong and obnoxious. What is it that I want "Now now now"? Oh that's right, nothing. My only request is that the showrunners show that they have a plan instead of dropping a whole bunch of storylines and sticking characters into absurd situations to restart the series in a different way than we left it last season. I've been waiting since mid-way through last season for them to tell me where they are going and it seems they haven't yet figured it out. Frankly 10 or so episodes for a coherent plot line seems pretty patient.
No, I've seen you complain since day one. You practically ruined every episode for me especially when I come to SpoilerTV to look at people's feedbacks, negative or positive. because your complaint was/is very intense. Look at Mfeliz comment below, he didn't enjoy the premiere but his comment is not intense, it's merely what he feels but you makes your opinion like it's the absolute truth.
I'm just stating an opinion the same way Mfeliz is, what I liked, what I didn't, where I have questions. The intensity you project onto my statements is a personal problem. Your aggressive posturing because you misinterpret what I say is offensive and uncalled for. I've said many positive things about the show and I haven't been on here since day one. I didn't even start watching the show until season 1 was over. You are throwing a lot of personal problems onto me and it might be a lot easier to discuss the show if stuck to actual fact.
I agree with you that things need to move forward. I don't believe that Wade and Zoe are done. And I don't believe that Wade will ever be over Zoe I do believe that it is very important that they at least show him making an attempt to move on at some point though. As far as spoilers regarding a love interest for Wade. I don't see them casting someone and announcing that character as Wade's new love interest. If someone is cast I believe they will keep that hidden and then we will only find out once we start seeing it happen on screen. They are only filming 308 as of now. If Wade eventually gets a real love interest I don't expect that to happen until closer to when Zoe and Joel should be on the outs.
Wade has never been that guy who sought out relationships. He'd rather just meet a girl that he'd just sleep with. Falling in love with Zoe is what changed that for him. And now that he has had his heart broken, it would be out of character to just find him suddenly in a new relationship that quickly. George, Zoe, and Lavon are the type who would go from relationship to relationship.
IMO, I think they are using Joel in place of George for Zoe to get to have everything she ever thought she wanted and would make her happy. Joel is her safe choice and the easy way. Wade is way too risky for her. She is afraid to work at a relationship with him because she doesn't believe that he has changed, and he'll just hurt her again. I think Zoe and Wade both have to go through some growth this season before they eventually get back together. Zoe has to learn that she can't just have things her way on her time. She chose the easy road and now she is going to have to live with it. And she may find that she doesn't like everything that comes with it. And Wade is going to have to accept that he needs to try to move on from Zoe which he hasn't done in 2 seasons. It is just a long drawn out process due to the way that Zoe and Wade broke up for them to have to work their way back to each other.
Oh, you have a lot more forgiveness of how they broke them up than I do. :-) I think they might be trying to bring them back eventually and recapture the will/they won't antagonistic spark. I think they were also trying to make Zoe more sympathetic. For me, it's just not working. And I worry if they go the route of love triangle, Wade pining, it's not gonna be very watchable. Making him the bad guy to make Zoe more sympathetic backfires if their goal is to make you feel sorry for Wade now. I, for one, can't side with Zoe and feel bad for Wade at the same time.
I've had months to come to terms with the break up. LOL I don't like it, but I've accepted it.
I do think that they won't to bring the banter and spark back which was missing following the break up which combined with other things made those episodes really bad. No pining Wade is not going to make people like Zoe any more. That is why I'm all in favor of him eventually getting another love interest. I have no desire to see him pine. We got a season of that. I'll tolerate it in these first couple of episodes because it makes sense and is believable. After that things need to change.
Although I do think that they need to make Zoe more sympathetic. She was the one cheated on and yet she came out on the losing end of that. That is one of my hopes this season that they redeem her character. I think there are going to be some hits before it happens though. Although I was fully expecting to hate her last night, and to my surprise I didn't. I don't like everything she does, but I'm willing to see where it goes as part of her growth this season. Now if we are 5 episodes in or so and she hasn't learned anything then my patience will start to end.
I like Lemon and the non-typical guy (Meatball), she is just good friends with Wade and it should stay that way. She's protective of him and like a sister. I do not like Joel and Zoe at all, yuck! They have no chemistry. I want Zoe and Wade back together, they had good chemistry.
Very good and entertaining episode. Some things came out of nowhere (like, Lemon and Meatball? WTF? lol), but it was a good episode.
I do not like Joel at first, but i will give the guy some time, since Zoe seemed happy. I do not like what the writers dit to Zoe in last season, she was a entire mess with the triangle. I think it will a good thing to take some space from it. Zoe seems better and more confident.
I love all the AB scenes, she is so funny. And i love all the interaction with Lemon and Wade. I really like their friendship, and i think it will be hilarious this ‘fake relationship’. lol. I laughed so hard with Zoe’s face at the kiss. Was priceless. Lemon’s reaction was hilarious too. and, what the hell happened to George? The guy seems totally shifted. Well, i really hope that this season it will better than the last.
"And Zoe finding a happy stable, I'm romantically put together relationship in like a few months is silly"
Completely agree, and this is the primary reason why I'm not understanding this season 3. It's a drastic personality transformation and is it related to her relationship with Joel as a stabilizing force or did writers rewrite/reshaped Zoe? One is plot related the other isn't. I can't figure this out. So not only is Zoe mature, calm, sane, and almost too perfect relationship with Joel, but the writers also have her giving long, meaningful glances at Wade. So which is it? So is she over Wade or not? Or does she want both? Are the writers trying to still hang on to Zoe and Wade or give a new relationship a try. Because if Zoe is happy and healthy then why would she go back - it's OVER! Then let ZW end and let the audience know so we can move on, otherwise it's crazy.
If they do want to continue the Zoe/Wade relationship and eventually back together (cause frankly the ratings are free-falling since breakup) then the cracks in Zoe/Joel should be showing fairly soon and not drag on too long and bore the audience. Because if this is the new George, that too was boring and added nothing to the story or made it any more interesting - frankly it was the WORST part of the show. So have Leila Gerstein and team learned anything or not?
Move Zoe on. Either work towards forgiving and building trust with Wade or completely end the Wade story (or make it the new groan-inducing George-like scenerio). Obviously, WB & RB on-screen chemistry is incredible so it would seem logical to move on the Zoe/Wade story. They should be working and moving toward building forgiveness and trust. Not a 20 episodes of angst, longing looks while involved in relationships with other people, then immediate mutual ILYs during final 2 episodes. That would be horrible story telling and one could only imagine the audience wrath.
" I won't be surprised if we do end up seeing Wade with a love interest but only later in the season." "And Wade is going to have to accept that he needs to try to move on from Zoe which he hasn't done in 2 seasons. It is just a long drawn out process due to the way that Zoe and Wade broke up for them to have to work their way back to each other."
So the notion that we keep the two actors with THE most chemistry on show in relationships with OTHER people is a means of getting characters back together. Sorry, but I find this completely ludicrous. The reason people move on and date other people is because their last relationship is DONE. Having Wade date someone else as a means for him to "work his way back" to Zoe doesn't make sense in story telling or real-life. So if viewers want to see Wade date someone else, fine, but it does mean the Zoe Wade relationship is over. No more meaningful glances, sexually charged banter or it's being unfair to the person they are in the relationship with. Was that not the primary complaint with George/Lemon? George was emotionally cheating on Lemon with Zoe. So now this is okay for Wade with Zoe or vice versa?
If viewers want Zoe and Wade together then let them work on their relationship NOT involved with other people. Just seems obvious to me. I'm reading the mental gymnastics people are making to get Zoe and Wade back by dating other people as this will somehow prove their mutual love for each other. Really?! Seriously?!! Since when? Cause that worked out great for both Lemon and George.
We are only 2 episodes in. But if we are headed for a Lemon/George relationship recast as Zoe/Wade and partners. Then the rating can continue to free-fall and end this misery. Release the actors because they are for far more talented than this non-sense.
"they won't to bring the banter and spark back which was missing following the break up which combined with other things made those episodes really bad. No pining Wade is not going to make people like Zoe any more. That is why I'm all in favor of him eventually getting another love interest. I have no desire to see him pine. "
You can't have it both ways. Either you want the banter/spark which was based on sexual tension or you don't. Pining is because you want someone you can't have. From our story, Wade loves Zoe, but he can't have her therefore he'll pine longingly. To want Zoe to banter and spark with Wade after said ILY and she rejected him is plain cruel.
THen on top of that you want Wade in a relationship with someone else "so she (Zoe) knows he (Wade) really cares for her". Really? Completely makes no sense.
So for me, I'm just waiting to see if I can see a plot line. Because if Zoe is happy and healthy with Joel then fantastic - let her be happy and let the audience know.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Only hilarity can come out of Lemon and Wade's fake relationship lol. I was pretty surprised by that kiss at the end. What a way to make a private lie of a relationship into a very public lie of a relationship.
ReplyDeleteI want to stay positive, but I am not sure I enjoyed this premier. I hope that Zoey's relationship with Joel doesn't last too many episodes.
ReplyDeleteLemon and Wade's fake relationship was funny, but hopefully it doesn't turn into anything other than friendship.
I was pleasantly surprised by Lemon's secret affair with Meatball, so I am looking forward to the complications with that and now her fake relationship with Wade. I am still unsure about the who George thing.

ReplyDeleteWhat kind of alternative universe did I just step into?
ReplyDeleteI can see your point, but for some reason these relationships seem weird to me. Maybe I just need to watch a few more episodes to warm up to them.
