nice to see them resolve a storyline with Tom, but a new one begins

  2. Perfect timing to change the story arc. Awesome episode.

  3. God! I was so upset, that she argued with Red. I'm sure he's innocent!

  4. It was an interesting episode! It was nice to see Margarita Levieva from Revenge in this episode. I really liked her as an actress and I was sad that Amanda was killed off.

  5. yup it seems like Tom is working for lizzy's dad or Red's advisory that he mentioned before. the spy on them might be some neutral group or a 3rd party.

  6. I'll actually be disappointed now if Tom dies turn out to be innocent... I much prefer that he's jus really good at acting innocent because he's a super baddie lol

  7. I am not convinced that Tom is innocent. and maybe a weird thought: As Gina works for Red, could it be that Red (reason, I don't know..) told Gina to say that she does not know Tom whenever asked about him ?

  8. Good episode but I'm not buying Tom's innocence.

  9. Why is everyone saying Tom's innocent? Did you guys miss the last scene of the episode or..?

  10. The Name Gine Zanetakos totally out does the name Anna Esponosa! XD (and I had Tacos last night for dinner!)

Really good episode. I still think there's something not right with Tom (especially with what the last scene shows). I trust Mr. Reddington in this case, even if Zanetakos might have been working for him. Let alone Lizzie's dream from a few episodes ago I think is a another pretty good indication of what she really thinks. I hope it doesn't take too many more episodes though to learn something more definitive. I'm pretty sure Red is Lizzie's father at this point...

The episode reminded me of the episode in Alias where Sydney drives a car into the ocean to escape SDR and try and disprove The Prophecy....It also reminded me of Dexter again too with the wooden box and shipping containers.

  11. Not as many Red-isms this episode, but it was not a red-centric episode either. I think Red's affection for Lizzie is genuine. However, I'm not sure what his ultimate endgame is. The affection could be real and Red could still be using Agent Keen and the CIA/ FBI ...

The COTW was a bit light to me, but they had a lot going on with the B-plot. Then again, maybe Tom was the A-pot! XD

Seems odd we would hear that they want Gina Zanetakos alive and mere moments later Agent Ressler would shoot her keeping her quiet temporarily. Lizzie was not in eminent danger IMO.

Not sure what to make of Tom's situation...
I had suspicions he was being set up from the beginning, but the frame up as shown is not sitting right with me now. I'm guessing Red's Adversary has placed Tom in Lizzie's life as a failsafe or as protection.

Is TAEM (the Apple-Eating Man) Red's nemesis? Lizzie's Dad? One and the same?

Another awesome episode that pushed a few pieces around setting up the larger narrative nicely.

  12. "Innocent" is a relative term though.

Is Tom innocent of being the hitman that killed the FSB agent? Yes.
Is Tom innocent of being an agent for some clandestine organization? Not bloody likely.

  13. They have shown Ressler to become pretty anger driven when in tense situations. He kicked the guy off the platform, for example. Ressler got into the bathroom so see Liz on the ground with Gina close to stabbing her, so he just reacted. His "Keen, talk to me!" is a good indication of his state of mind.

I don't think Gina works for Red either. If he was setting Tom up, would he use his real name to hire Gina to kill the Russian and pin this on Tom? There's no way a criminal of Red's caliber would be so stupid to the point of letting everything lead back to him so easily. I'm thinking he tried to expose Tom, but whoever Tom works for managed to turn this around and pin it on Red instead. That's why this enemy is dangerous. It's more likely what brought Red back from hiding and giving himself up to the FBI. He knows who Tom is, he knows everything, but he has no proof to show anyone.

    ReplyDelete
  14. There is also the idea that Gina was lying. Maybe Tome did kill the FSB agent and Red is "innocent" of lying to Liz. But I agree with you that Red is not innocent of a lot of things.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I think I liked her more as Gina, but definitely miss her from Revenge. It would be awesome if she makes another appearance!

    ReplyDelete
  16. I agree. I still bugs me Tom would dress casually for a job interview.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Are we sure when that photo was taken exactly?

We know Tom and Lizzie were there for the weekend, but not what day the interview was on. He still could have dressed more appropriately for his interview and been snapped in the workout clothes at a different time. That photo could be from some other day I guess, a casual day.

  18. That's true. He does seem to be emotionally charged and even more so when it comes to Agent Keen.

To me though the first thought I had was that Ressler could be working for Red's adversary. He is in the perfect position being on point for the Reddington case.

  19. Am I the only one who likes tom?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Indeed, also, why would Gina talk asap? She is a top criminal and they hardly pressed her, seems to me that she talked a bit to easily.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Oh fun note I just discovered!

The painting Red is attempting to sell in the episode is The Storm on the Sea of Galilee by Rembrandt. Inspired by the Gospel of Mark.

"He woke up and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, `Peace! Be still!`. Then the wind ceased and there was a dead calm...And they were filled with great awe and said to one another `Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?` (Mark 4:39-41)

The real paining was stolen in 1990 along with a number of other painintings. The theft is considered to be the greatest art theft in US hisotry.

  22. Although it was a very good episode storylinewise and moved the plot along, it was probably my least favorite episode of the show so far. The lack of Red and the focus on Liz just didn't work for me, mostly because i just don't find Megan Boone's acting all that convincing,

For someone who's going through such an emotionally tramautic thing as her character is she just doesn't sell it well enough, re-watch the scene with Red where he tells her she can trust him and i'm sorry but the tears are as fake as her hair.

Now storylinewise they moved things along nicely, i don't buy Tom's innocence and if anything i felt that Red seemed dissappointed that he hadn't outed Tom's true motivations, to me it came across like Red realised that someone else had stacked the deck and won this time.

In terms of Gina, it really makes no sense that if Red hired her to kill the russian and then used that event to frame Tom, he would then try to stop her and risk that being exposed, especially if his goal was to get Liz to trust him.

Tom's recognition of Grey also raises some interesting points, for example did Grey go behind Red's back meaning he's some sort of double agent himself (remember Red's pretty much said he trust very few people) or was Tom lying and he recognised Grey as part of Red's crew and used this to his advantage.

Hopefully there's more going on with Tom's story than simply he's been framed and is actually a good guy because if so that would turn out really boring, however if he's an accomplished liar and is involved with Gina and Red's adversary he suddenly becomes a much more interesting character.

  23. Right? I mean, damn she's an assassin for hire. The girl is top level. There's NO way she'd talk so easily and they didn't even threaten her. Somebody like Gina would get out of prison in a blink because no doubt there would be higher ups making this all go away. Or maybe I've watched too many spy movies, hah.

    ReplyDelete
  24. He is, but I really can't see it going that way. He's been working for years on catching Red and I'm thinking his obsession with him is because Red is directly or indirectly involved with killing the person Ressler loved the most (I'm assuming he lost a wife or girlfriend). Yes super wild guess there, I know LOL or maybe I'm just in denial and can't accept Ressler being a bad guy. I mean SOMEBODY has to be good right?

    ReplyDelete
  25. No, it was the same day the agent died, you can see Gina coming the other way. That's why Tom was suspected, because he was on site of the murder under the pretense of a job interview.

    ReplyDelete
  26. That was how I took Ressler the first few weeks... Especially after his story last week. Motivated by a direct connection to one of Red's crimes.

He certainly could be the all-American good guy.

I think Lizzie had the "good guy" angle covered. She is about as pure as driven snow! XD

    ReplyDelete
  27. Simple question, why the FBI didn't make a sweep in the apartment ?Looking for another box or something else?

    ReplyDelete
  28. But she needs to trust someone, she can't win the fight with no one on her side, and even though Red's motivations *may* be right, she still cant trust him.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Still not trusting Tom but we know at least a little more about his storyline. It shouldn't be longer! Time to change!!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Thanks for digging up that piece of trivia. I was wondering about the history behind this painting, so this is much appreciated!

  31. I love this show. This episode provided me with that mix of exhilaration and frustration I used to get from Fringe - where every answer only leads to a dozen more questions. Great stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I like Tom - he is ok. He is not my favorite, because we have only really seen him supporting Liz and not really his characterization. If they develop his story more and we get to see both stronger good and bad traits in him, people might like him a bit more (or maybe not).

    ReplyDelete
  33. Really good points. :)

    ReplyDelete
  34. They could have and maybe we didn't see it. A lot was going on in this episode.

    ReplyDelete
  35. okay i just watched the episode(nasty cold and i wanted to be myself when i watched) and i knew immediately he didn't do it. Not because i think he's a miraculously a nice guy, or that he cares for Keene and would never do it. I even understand why they think he did. The money and passports were linked to him. i mean it's obvious.

guys that's WHY it's not him. if he were going to do this, nothing, not a freaking thing, would be able to be traced back to him. All he's done just in this handful of episodes, and you think he can't get untraceable passports and currency? Red is a planner, so if this were something he would do, he would do it knowing she may find it(it's in her house after all) and be sure it can't be traced back to him. Certainly not in a day or two.

Also, was it just me or did he look like a kicked dog when she left and he was alone? i mean he looked so, so upset i guess i wanted to hug him, and that's not something i EVER thought would happen. Also, since i'm convinced of his innocence, you just know that as soon as he heard the things had been traced back to him, that he was devising a plan, and he WILL find whoever framed him. Boy-oh-boy do i feel bad for that guy/girl!!!

Fangirl moment: *throws phone to associate and grins "That's my girl!" he seemed like a proud father and was so freaking adorable. I'm also convinced either he's her father or, since it's too obvious, he's a friend of her father and agreed for whatever reason to help her this way.

    ReplyDelete
  36. also, as mentioned in the comments that i just read, there is no way Gina, the hardened bad@$$ character we saw, was asked to tell who bought her services and goes "Sure *shrug*" if for no other reason, if anyone turned on him, he'd simply kill them. Seems someone told her to say it, and she felt they were powerful enough to protect her. I bet Red gets her out, seeming to try to help her. Then he'd take her to a "safe-house" and would promptly um, persuade her to talk. Everyone who's involved in this frame job is so So SO screwed.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I like him too. I'm definitely curious to find out more about him though.

    ReplyDelete
  38. But if they did, they would have found the surveillance. So it seems they really didn't and I find that as odd as Darkstar does.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Really good point. I guess ya'll are right!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Awesome episode. I feel so sorry for Elizabeth, she is involved in such a complicated web of lies. But I can't blame her for not following her instinct and trusting Tom over Reed, any sane person would do the same. I am so curious about the whole thing though, what is Tom's deal? Also, I loved Gina's character, Margerita did a wonderful job, she was bad-ass! I continue to enjoy Donald a lot too, that car scene was great! Love this show!

    ReplyDelete
  41. That's an excellent point, I think it's a plothole!

    ReplyDelete
  42. I like Megan's acting and character, so I disagree with the first part. I find her character very compelling and her acting very realistic. But to each his own I guess ;)

Other than that, I agree with your comment. It would make no sense for Red to help them catch Gina only for her to sell him out. Also, that was a good point you made about the episode being the first one in which Red truly looses against someone. Who that someone is, (Tom?), remains to be see though.

  43. I like him too. He is very intriguing.

    ReplyDelete
  44. You know, we were talking the other day about Miles being Charlie's father in Revolution and it being too obvious? I think it would way more obvious here especially because this is the core relationship of the show by a mile while in Revolution there's a lot else going on. Besides, they even talked about her dad already. I would be shocked at this point if it was really that simple. Someone had the theory that he was just using her to find her father and I think that might be the truth. Somewhere along the lines of him only protecting her in an "asset" type of way because he needs her in the future.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I don't think Tom is innocent. At all.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I don't think we are supposed to buy it.

    ReplyDelete
  47. That is possible but why would Gina give them Red's name, inevitably leading to Elizabeth not trusting Red? It seems to be the opposite of what he wanted.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I would tend to think you would get your wish but we don't really know for sure.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I agree. I think Margarita did a wonderful job here with Gina and I really hope we see her again. She was even more baddass than crazy Fauxmanda.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I agree, I liked her more here.

    ReplyDelete
  51. It's definitely not over I think!

    ReplyDelete
  52. It could very well be that way, but because of John Eisendarth and J.R. Orci and an appearance by Isabella Rossollini and this name "Gina Zanatakos" (it's a fun name similar to Anna Esponosa), I'm inclined to see the great Alias parallels here.

I think he cares a little too much about her, to just be some guy wanting to get to her father and needing her as an asset...I know episode 7 is too reveal "Sam", but I still think that it's possible Liz may not even know who her father "really" is, despite whomever she remembers 'raising' her. But perhaps he is her uncle and not her father???

And speaking of Monroe and Revolution: Rachel and Charlie's relationship is similar to Sydney's and Irina Derevko's, but I think Rachel will turn out to be "good"....But also the two older male frenemmies, Jack Bristow and Arvin Sloane both turn out to have children with Irina Derevko, but at first the villain Arvin Sloane think's Jack's daughter is his, until he learns of Sydney's half sister Nadia...
