  1. Great episode. Loved Felicity and Diggle alone time. Arrow's new look and bow, I am interested what they main hinge of the story will be now that there is no list to cross names off. I guess Oliver will try to save The Glades most of the season.

They also confirmed that Malcolm is dead.

  2. Loved this episode!

Isabel is a real bitch and I love it! Can't wait to see more of her. I (of course) loved all the Oliver and Felicity moments. The new Arrow bow looks fantastic (I need it right now!). I really hope that since Oliver didn't kill The Hoods, he is still going to kill bad guys. Just arresting bad guys is no fun.

Also, the action sequences in this episode was insane. Arrow seriously needs to at least get recognition for their stunts!

Great way to start the season!

  3. It was GREAT!! They definitely stepped their game up and it really showed in the pilot. Season 2 full effect. I loved Diggle and Felicity. I Loved Olicity scenes, but Olicity aside, Felicity was on fire!!! She became a lot more feisty!! Her "shy girl phase" seems to be over, and if it's possible she's become even more awesome! Spoiling Ollie with the new room, keeping his pull up machine in there, b/c let's face it, we ALL like seeing him do that Felicity. Hahaha I really do love that thing though. The island flashbacks...when Slade said "We're not alone" was i the only one who automatically thought of LOST?? LOL i swear it was just that line. I've never connected it to Lost the entire season 1 of Arrow. Quentin back in the cop uniform, LOL...(enough said)...Laurel...WAS that her in the end?? It could've been. I forgot if that was actually suppose to be her or not. Either way if it was, she did good, butttt i feel she's got a long way to go. I think this is like practice for her right now. Roy i applaud you, every time he does a scene, i can't help but think "Way to go Speedy!" Moira in prison...umm i gotta say that's a pretty nice freaking shirt for a murderer. I like that Walter came back to help Ollie, and i'm glad Ollie put Summer Glau in her place...I hope she won't become a regular. Sorry but i never saw the big whoop about her. Maybe b/c she annoyed me in The Cape, although i did like her guest appearance in TBBT. My favorite lines tonight..."You're really sweaty" "You can at least offer us some water. Or some coconut" "If it's online i can find it" "Remember i control your paycheck, and your sex life." Oh and one last thing...i really did miss Tommy.

  4. What world is this where Arrow is more entertaining than SHIELD, and Summer Glau has a recurring role instead of Whedon's show?
I'm glad that Summer is not playing an ass-kicking babe (much to the dispair of some of her fans) and that Arrow's writers didn't stick to the one-dimensional comic book character. Can't wait to see more of her!

  5. While I'm reading all of the Olicity love on tumblr, I'm also waiting for all the Olicity hate over here. So get on that guys. I'm sure there is SOMEONE who wants to complain about it.

    ReplyDelete
  6. I thought of Lost too. Even some of the island flashbacks in season one, gave me lost vibes.

    ReplyDelete
  7. When Ollie and Slade were tracking down Shado I literally saw Sawyer running through the island forest to rescue Kate! XD

Long shaggy hair and 3 days of perfectly uniform stubble traipsing loudly after a very rain soaked damsel in distress taken by mysterious "others".... Watch that scene again and tell me you can't see the same thing! XD

    ReplyDelete
  8. I guess when malcolm returns It will be In flashbacks.

    ReplyDelete
  9. The sad thing Is Felicity Is so much more intresting than Laurel.

    ReplyDelete
  10. They are both COmic Book shows although arrow actully has regural characters from Comics.

The fact Shield has been dropping each week says some don't like it.I am sure there are some who don't like arrow eather.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Problem Is I keep thinking oliver should stay away from laurel and hook up with Felicity.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I really liked they are touching upon the lethality of Oliver and him trying to not kill. Although he might face again another enemy where lethal force might be the only way to stop them, and I hope it all comes into play.

Team Arrow is the best since sliced bread and nothing hurts, Diggle and Felicity jumping off the plane was my favorite scene with them! Bonus point to Felicity for just rolling with all of it (plane jumping, tree swinging over a mine AND jumping out a building, AWESOME!

Also kudos to Laurel for not getting saved today? I mean, she did her thang where she gets outclassed, but she didn't had to get saved, instead the bad guy just didn't shot her!! progress?? Still that thus only served to show us something about Laurel, her instincts tell her to fight. Foreshadowing??

Though her wanting to "catch Batman" seems counter intuitive, just misplaced anger mostly. I just really don't agree with her rationale that it was the Hood's fault. Shit was going down regardless of his involvement.

Was her the Black Canary at the end? perhaps not, but the possibility of the casting news being a red herring are quite interesting.

Overall amazing! Thea and Moira made me awww, Isabelle is a grade A asshole, I like her, adn yay! Walter is back (precious moment with Felicity was precious)

  13. I am mostly likely going to get nailed for this, but....
I liked everything about this episode ACCEPT Summer Glau. She was so flat. I have never understood the fanboy (and fangirls) love for her in every role she has done. I think she is a very limited actress who is extremely hit or miss in her roles, but she will keep getting more one-note roles because she is like some combination of catnip and Viagra for so many fanboys.

Hopefully we will not see a lot of her, but even if we do, at least there is always more than enough other awesome aspects to Arrow to balance her scenes out. XD

It will be interesting how Hood 2.0 evolves in this new non-lethal vigilante role!
I assume it will comeback to haunt him and someone he loves will be hurt causing him to reconsider his angst... Eventually coming to the conclusion that sometimes the greater good demands he actually kill and not be afraid to kill.

Anyone else a bit confused by Laurel getting all "porn star'ed" out to go to Tommy's grave? That felt so odd to me to have her more made up than ever before and in the outfit ... yeah... Just odd!

I loved the fact that even after 6 months in prison Moira Queen managed to keep a perfectly shaped eyebrow! XD

    Great action once again!

I loved Felicity admitting she kept Oliver's rack because she liked watching him use it! XD

Glad to have this show back!
I have enjoyed some of the new hero or fantasy shows this year, but Arrow is just more well-polished and higher quality entertainment to me!

  14. What a great Begining of season it`s my favorite so far, the dinamics between all characters were really good they all a great cast, Felicity and Diggle were incredibles, it was a full pack action episode and the introduction to Black Cnary was rgreat i was happy when i saw it, i wasn not expecting that at all, i can see Isabel being a pain in the A** for Oliver but that girl can do it! and im sure we will loved it

  15. I am guessing Lance won't be demoted forever.....eventually he will get repromoted again eventually.?
I guess the second Hood will eventually have a bow and arrow at some point and work with Oilver too

    ReplyDelete
  16. I hope Lance isn't going to be beat cop forever......he only be demoted because he turn sides....probably will do something good and get a promotion

    ReplyDelete
  17. ITA! I like Laurel, I'm one of the few that still do, but all I could think of in that scene was "WTF she has more make up on than she did at the party". It wasn't a good move from makeup department.
And I also found Summer Glau's performance flat. I've always been parcial to her drmatic performances, like when she was going crazy on The Cape, or that episode from TSCC were she turned into the person she was made after (can't remember the name, sorry), she's very good at those, so I was happy she wasn't going to be playing an action role here, but right now I think I would've preffer it to what we got.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I thought it was awesome!! A great start to the season. I'm looking forward to the rest of the episodes!

    ReplyDelete
  19. I like Arrow 1.0...i don't like the "Hood 2.0" nick name. Doesn't work. "Arrow 1.0" is who he should have been from the beginning, soo now they're going forward, by going backwards, (hope you guys understood that). Tidbit about The Flash? Where and when was that? Did i miss that??

    ReplyDelete
  20. I loved it so much. Finally Oliver accepts that he must be a hero to save the city and not only somebody who crosses names of a book. And the new way he is trying i am so exited to see more of that. I cant´t wait till next week.

    ReplyDelete
  21. they are both comic book shows like u say, but one is connected to a franchise and one is not, so there starts a lot of the differences and limitations for each.

    ReplyDelete
  22. hahaha he went against authority, protocol, regulation, w/e u wanna call it. JUSTICE. lmao...to assist a vigilante!! He's not getting promoted again ANY time soon. lol he's like he didn't get fired!! This is what he'll be doing for a bit. Get used to that uniform...hey it looks alright on him, i mean like he said.."It still fits." = )

    ReplyDelete
  23. yep only because his superior hate the hood.......

  24. Great way to start the season! This episode set up the season nicely, while also maintaining the same action, story, and humor that Arrow episodes usually have. I really liked Felicity staying "normal" while still being so brave. I enjoyed all the Felicity and Diggle scenes, as separate characters, and interacting with each other, as well as with Oliver. I'm glad that the show didn't forget that Oliver has a family, by having him visit his sister and mother. Those Queen family scenes were among the most poignant for me, just because it adds a different layer to Oliver, as being part of a family, as opposed to the 'lone wolf' type that he's so often portrayed as on this show. Then there was that great scene with The Vigilante and Detective Lance. We even got to see Walter again! Goes without saying that the Oliver-Laurel scenes dropped some major drama on the poor guy. The fact that the show packed so many important relationships in one hour amazes me.

    ReplyDelete
  25. So Laurel is against the Hood but her father Lance is supportive of the Hood.....

    ReplyDelete
  26. It was a good episode, but it wasn't one of the best. JMO. I am looking for ward to this season though.

    ReplyDelete
  27. the Flash tidbit was the news broadcast when Oliver first pops in on Thea at Verdant and the news story was something about a particle accelerator being built/tested in Central City (which is the city the Flash resides in the comics). I'm assuming that the accelerator will play some part to his origin as opposed to the comics version, which involved lightning and chemicals..... just a theory

    ReplyDelete
  28. 3 episodes, each of them getting better. I don't know what people want really... an instant hit? were the first couple of episodes of Buffy amazing? was Dollhouse? I'm not going to say anything about Firefly, because yes, they were absolutely marvelous, each of them.

I think Agents of Shield will be a classic. Just wait a couple more episodes.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Is Lance going to be like Gordon from batman and be a ally to the arrow unofficially....I think he be recruited to join the team

    ReplyDelete
  30. probably meet with the arrow somewhere and give him some police info on stuff

    ReplyDelete
  31. Um, excuse me... I wasn't ready for that episode to be over! Started off a little shaky but sure took off during the scene with moira and thea! Wow that got me misty! Then Black Canary!!!! Woohoo! Sad though that her implants gave her away more than her face, lol. Oh well, that episode was awesome! Super excited for this season.

    ReplyDelete
  32. That was Laurel for sure

    ReplyDelete
  33. Ah! Thanks. That was going to be my next guess. (Is my purple memory accurate? Huntress's commercial was purple?) Oh! Wait. The crazy chick Oliver dated..she's Huntress?

    ReplyDelete
  34. Yes, the Huntress had a purple outfit. And yeah, she's the crazy chick (Helena Bertenelli)

  36. A good setup episode. I loved seeing everyone back and actually liked Roy in this episode. I like Ollie's new approach about killing but wonder what will happen when he has to kill again.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I think he will help them but not so willingly and without knowing about Ollie

    ReplyDelete
  38. I think he will get promoted again once people start thinking the hood is a good guy. For now, they believe he helped a criminal.

    ReplyDelete
  39. No, that was Sara.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Joss is not Sheild's showrunner. His brother and sister-in-law run Sheild.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I'm not sure if I want Olicity (Felicity is pretty much awesome on her own), but I'm also constantly frustrated with Laurel....her subplot is still the weakest in the show. And so predictable.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I'm just thankful SHIELD is NOT on Fox. And I am loving it.

    ReplyDelete
  43. After watching this show, my first thought was WOW CW has got several winners on their hands this year. I liked Arrow last year, but this ep was smoking.

My placings for CW so far..
    Supernatural
    Arrow
    Originals
    Tomorrow People
    TVD
    Hart of Dixie

  46. This confuses me: was that really Black Canary at the end? It looked more like China White to be honest.

    Liked the episode!

    ReplyDelete
  47. I'm reserving judgement for Summer Glau's character...but I find it telling that I remember only the name of the actress (who is apparently a big deal?) and not the name of the character.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Well, that was Katie Cassidy playing the part temporarily then. Seriously though. Sara just happens to be alive, happens to know Martial arts and only comes back now??? WTFudge?

    ReplyDelete
  49. So true!
To me she is like so many actors where I see the actor instead of the role in almost everyone one of her projects.

Usually it the charismatic male lead that has that effect for me. Actors like Bruce Willis, Tom Cruise (in everything but Legend and Born on 4th of July), Paul Walker and so many more.

    VERY so-so episode.

    The Good:
    - S.Glau IS PERFECT as Isabel. A perfect and interesting villain.
    - Oliver's character development is commendable and interesting.
    - I love the fact that there ARE lasting consequences from the previous season, unlike some other shows.

    The Bad:
    - Too much Felicity Smoak. I get that some people like the character, but putting her into EVERY plotline will only result in another mary sue type of character.
    - "Oliver has sexual chemistry with every female in the cast" shtick needs to stop. He has way too big of a harem already, CAN WE NOT, please?

    - Not enough Laurel. For a leading lady, the show certainly does not treat her right, especially when she is played by someone with Katie Cassidy's pedigree of quality acting.
    - ANOTHER damsel-in-distress situation for Laurel. Like, can you NOT, show? Can you just LET her be badass like she can be? ANd now we will have an episode where she is kidnapped again...UGHHHHHH.

    3/5

    Comparing apples to oranges.

Shield is not trying to be Arrow, just like avengers were not trying to be nolan's batman. Different tone, different focus. If Joss suddenly turned a genuine comic book experience that WORKS into Nolan knock-off, I would flip a table.
The major factor why people loved Avengers was that it was the first comic book movie that worked since Sam Raimi's Spiderman 1(and no nolan's batman is NOT a comic book movie)

    WORD

Need I remind the haters on where masterpiece like BTVS was three episodes in? I, Robot, You Jane. Also known as one of the worst episodes ever written.

Stuff takes time to build up.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Keep up with the spoilers. That was Caity Lotz, the Black Canary, NOT Laurel.

    ReplyDelete
  54. InvestedInYourFutureOctober 10, 2013 at 6:33 PM

    Not really seeing how.

Felicity is quite a typical character, but she actually gets coverage by writers, while Laurel has so much potential as a character and has a great actress playing her, but writers are intent on destroying any chance of her being badass and awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I can't explain the fact that she is alive and just returning now, but she's been gone for almost 6 years at this point. She could've learned martial arts just like Ollie had or she could've already known them, we don't know much about Sara at this point.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I didn't say Laurel, I said Katie Cassidy. If Caity Lotz is going to play Black Canary, then fine. I am saying that I think that was katie playing temporarily. Just for that scene. It looked like her body. Anyways, i don't really care. And no, I don't read the arrow spoilers.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I'm confused..
In what universe is Katie Cassidy considered a great actress?
I don't dislike her or her character Laurel at all, but great? Really?

Personally I find the character of Felicity much more entertaining than Laurel. There is not much unique about the role to me honestly. Potential? Sure, but unrealized potential to me.

Felicity has realized potential because the character and actress have combined into something greater than the sum of their parts. Not sure Miss Smoak is such an awesome or unique character, or that Emily Bett Rickards is a great actress, but the combination of the two is great to me.

    Different strokes as they say...

    ReplyDelete
  58. The show is pretty good right now.
But I wish it would stop copying Batman.
Isn't copycats with guns exactly how The Dark Knight started?
"You're a hard man to find." That's, verbatim, what Harvey Dent says when he meets Batman.

    ReplyDelete
  59. You are so right, Arrow is just a little step above the rest of the fantasy shows. And the season opener was a great set up for this season.
I´m personally a little bored with Laurel, and she looked like a barbie doll in this episode, a shame if they are taking her character in that direction.

    ReplyDelete
  60. i just can't buy laurel as the love of oliver's life or even as someone that important and central to anything; especially when i see the flashbacks with oliver and shado. i just think those two have a greater chemistry. plus whenver they're together the story is interesting when wherever there's an oliver-laurel scene it feels like the ep falls off its rythm...

    ReplyDelete
  61. Agreed about Laurel..
I think on some level they are forced into taking her down these cliche roads because she is the emotional touch stone for Oliver (Not sure she needs to look like Barbie to achieve that role though). She is the key to igniting many of his heroic qualities, so I foresee more damsel in distress moments for her. Sadly...

Also,I wonder if they will use her dad as the key to Oliver's next stage of emotional evolution.

I'm guessing someone will die by the hand of some villain Oliver let live. That will force him to realize he cannot let everyone live, just like he could not kill everyone in his first incarnation. I think after losing Tommy that we will not lose another prime role in Oliver's life, but Quentin Lance could fit the bill perfectly. The loss of someone close to Laurel would affect Oliver greatly.

I hope they do not go down that road since I like Paul Blackthorne and ex-Detective Lance, but I have that feeling....

    ReplyDelete
  62. My guess is that he will fall for Black Canary. Maybe she will not be the love of his life, but I think she will prove vital to him learning to be a real "hero" and not just a vigilante.

    ReplyDelete
  63. No...it has nothing to do with personal vendetta's. He's against the lawwwww. Get it?

    ReplyDelete
  64. Ohh ok i remember the scene. Hmm i didn't catch that at all, and i usually would, idk guess we'll have to wait and see.

  65. Back In Black Tricksteress 95October 10, 2013 at 11:49 PM

It was great. A lot of things have been verified in this episode and got the action happening.

    ReplyDelete
  66. I hope you are wrong about Lance, I really like his character and it is interesting to see him going down a different road this season.

I really don´t mind that Oliver goes around and saves the day for all the beautiful women on the show, like you said, it is a fantasy show with superheroes. BUT they don´t have to look like barbie dolls and be weak and unable for him to do that.

Felicity also looked "prettier" in this episode, with her hair down, I hope they are not just making her another pretty face aswell. I would be much more fun to see her use her abilities.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Read the spoilers. You'll understand.

  68. Couldn't agree more Olicity is perfect for each other!!!!
