Things get rough as the team get the number of a lawyer who's suspected of murdering her husband, while Carter has some problems of her own.
Nice to see Bear out and about. And, might I say, a very clever ruse in order to save the vet. Finch's request for a chew toy from the front desk as payment was hilarious. He's my favourite aspect of the show, so it's nice to see more of him.
After the death of one Vanessa Watkins' husband, Finch receives her number. As a lawyer, she seems quite good. Despite being under suspicion from the police (and without knowing it, Reese), she kept her cool quite well. Her escape plan was routine, but genius, and something I didn't expect.
Her resourcefulness to be intentionally caught on camera to evade police was, as Finch suggested, very similar to Reese. Quite how Shaw managed to get a random old man to trust her is beyond me, but she did. Watkins stole his phone, as she continued to evade police. Meanwhile, she meets with a criminal she not only put away, but helped get out of prison.
"Something illegal" doesn't really cover it when discussing what can be done with a kilogram of cocaine. Carter's attempt at a chase was cut short by Vanessa's plan to jump off a roof. I'm starting to doubt her sanity. I'd much prefer to be caught than to jump off a roof.
Carter could be left with a problem after her new partner Laskey sees her talking with Reese. If he is HR, she could be in deadly danger. For now, it's more a case of ensuring Laskey doesn't report her to anyone at the NYPD. Although, there's not much risk of that when he suggests that she's moving on from Beecher. Well, not at first. A meeting with Detective Tenney has proved to us that he is working with HR. If someone were to make a list of dirty NYPD cops, it'd probably be a longer list than if you were to make a list of clean ones.

Shaw seems to get worse every week. This week, she suggests gambling on whether or not Vanessa killed her husband. In fairness, her plan is actually quite good. However, if Reese and Finch had been betting on the outcome since they started their crusade, Reese would probably be about $3000 up. Despite her annoyance to Finch, she proves her usefulness by gaining an entry into the book club Vanessa is at. Her suggestion to Nicole that she killed Jeremy because she was sleeping with him was brilliant. Shaw does know how to disturb the hornet's nest.
A mini trial of Vanessa was fantastic to watch. Finch acting as the judge was genius. I would have said that she was innocent; she made her case well. Reese's look after she finished her story was of serious anger, and I can't quite figure out why.
Shaw's anger issues were put to the test after a very slow worker. If not for Fusco's intervention, she may have killed him - an act that I would totally agree with. The guy obviously has no respect for those with patience issues. After what seemed like hours, they discovered that the cosigner was in fact Jeremy Watkins, and that he is actually still alive.
In order to avoid the police, Finch set up a ruse to lead them to an underground gambling ring. Finch's intelligence is one of the best parts of the show, while his partnership with Reese just enhances his brilliant plans. However, once again, Person of Interest fools me as it is revealed that she had been lying and that she had helped her husband fake his death, and now was going to kill him. It's not like Reese gave her a weapon or anything...
It's nice that Reese resumed the role of 'concerned third party'. That's something that's been missing for a long time. Reese's allowance for Vanessa to kill her husband was strange, but rather quite interesting. Most likely it was a plan just so that Finch would have to pay Shaw. Either way, it's likely that the two killed each other.
This was an interesting episode. The ending to the 'case' was unexpected, which I like. Bear's appearances were a nice addition to the episode, while the storyline building with Laskey is a very intriguing one. 7/10
