The next three episodes of Parks and Recreation — including a Halloween-themed outing that was to air Oct. 31 — are being preempted, NBC confirmed on Monday with its latest scheduling alert.
I don't watch it, but this is better for your show. It will get to air more episodes at 8h30 when ratings are likely to be higher than at 8. Three episodes are something that could make a difference when looking at averages if the difference is meaningful enough (from low 1s to high 1s). It's good for you, because it has a lower chance of being cancelled.
And yet they are airing Parks and Recreation during November sweeps when ratings matter most instead of in October.
Also, as bad as the ratings are for Parks and Recreation, it was their highest rated comedy this past week even though it was airing against The Big Bang Theory. NBC has much bigger problems than Parks.
Sweeps months are not when they make the most money, they are when the ad rates are determined for what the networks can charge in those time slots for the next few months. That means the networks put programming there that looks good to advertisers.
NBC released this information on Friday when the cancelled Ironside and WTTF:
Nov. 14: “Parks and Recreation” (back-to-back new episodes) Nov. 21: “Parks and Recreation” (back-to-back new episodes) Jan. 9: 100th episode of “Parks and Recreation” (8:30 p.m.)
Erm, they didn't mention it specifically, but was a given seeing that they mentioned "new" back-to-back episodes, which only makes sense that these would be 6.06/6.07 and 6.08/6.09, before 6.10, which is the hundredth.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Well, that is extremely rude, NBC. Now I'm pissed.
ReplyDeleteWHY WOULD YOU DO THIS? WHY. And bumping a holiday-themed episode always sucks.
cant they stop with the voice ughhh
ReplyDeleteI wonder if this is an indication that it's going to be canceled.
ReplyDeleteOh FFS NBC Parks and Rec is my happy fun show I need a weekly dose
ReplyDeleteI doubt it - Just NBC being stupid again.
ReplyDeleteUgh who cares about the voice it is so generically boring.

ReplyDeleteOh, the article's been updated - Back to back episodes will air on November 14th and 21st. That makes it a little better, but not much.
ReplyDeletebecause the ratings are shit and The Voice and SNL special will probably do a hell of a lot better?
ReplyDeleteAnd this is why I hate NBC.
ReplyDeleteI thought this was already confirmed when WTTF was cancelled that
ReplyDelete606/607 - November 14
608/609 - November 21
610 (100th ep) - January 9 at 8:30?

burning off low rated shows when they can get the most money they possibly can? isnt that a no brainer?

ReplyDeleteYeah, it was.

Yeah, but looks like they mentioned nothing about pre-emptions.

ReplyDeleteWhat!?? =/
ReplyDeleteI've always being indifferent about The Voice, but now I just hate it! P&R deserves a better network.
