Omg just found out that my favorite book series is going to be a movie.Wanted this for so long. But him to be Jamie Frazier not liking that.I pictured more the guy who plays Thor.
I am THRILLED! I've been a longtime fan of the novels and have been following this production since the beginning. It's ok if you won't give it a chance because there are more of us than there are of you! If you would take the time to research, you'd know that the producers of this show have been tasked with making this series faithful to the novels and that DIANA GABALDON fully supports Sam Heughan and all that Ron Moore has envisioned for the 16-episode season. This isn't a reboot of anything. It's Outlander and it will be on screen, people! Not some hack-job, either! Great cast, great production team, great story and all handled by people w ho are FANS, TOO!
His hair is red. The colors in that picture are muted. If you've been following this at all, you've seen the sizzle reel released for NY Comic Con. His hair is clearly red in that.
Here's the thing. I think that's a really bad picture of Sam Heughan. It does not do him justice. To write him off without seeing him do one scene for the show is a bit silly, though. Even though I'm not a fan of the picture, I still wouldn't want anyone else to have the part. I don't think another actor would have put this much heart into Jamie Fraser.
As you said without seeing a scene..."this much heart"? What does that even mean. We know nothing of the acting job or the work ethic. All we know is he isn't fitting our idea of Jamie--or the basic description of Jamie.
If they've dyed it past what we can see here, which would be what I'm commenting about, he isn't a natural red head, which means his coloring is totally off. The hair color was a big part of character metaphorically and physically. It would be as if you made Elle Woods a mousy brunette.
You don't know it won't be a hack job. I for one don't trust Ron Moore and I don't for one second believe he is actually a fan. If he is a fan, it isn't what I'm a fan of--I seriously disagreed with the man on BSG. He thought Baltar was a hero. We'll probably get halfway through and discover that he thinks Claire should've gone home to Frank as fast as she could. Gabaldon is gonna toe the line. Most books are butchered and most writers don't say anything bad until well after the fact.
LOL. Honestly, I'm willing to give it a chance. His WIFE and producing partners speak the Outlander fangirl-speak, so I'm willing to watch on faith! DG is incredibly choosy and the majority of fans are very trusting of her choices when it comes to what will happen to her "baby." I also do not believe that she is willing to "toe the line." In any case, we'll all be back here a year from now and if you're right you can tell me "I told you so," but I have faith that this will definitely be a great show.
I just googled this actor Sam Hueghan and I take back what I said,he is definitely Jamie Frazier.I advise everyone to go look up some of his images and you will see it too.Even more excited to see the books come to life.
Honestly....I hope that they will not stay too faithful, because I more or less hated what she did after novel 4. The books became pretty much unreadable imho, partly because they got bogged down by endless descriptions of household chores, but especially because they lacked direction.
No I imagined a different red as well...But I also think his features are too harsh. It was an impossible task to pick one actor who could please every reader. But I will watch it because I just adore the books.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Was it wrong of me to want red hair?
ReplyDeleteNo it wasn't.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a fan of how he looks. I have a different Jamie in my mind.
I had a much different Jamie in mind too :( mine looked like a beefier and younger Kevin Mckidd
ReplyDeleteLike less Calvin Klein cheekbones and more rugged beefy highlander-ness?
ReplyDeleteNo, red hair should have been a given--non-negotiable.

ReplyDeleteHe does have red hair. It may not be clown-red, but he is a ginger.
ReplyDeleteIt's actually a TV series airing on Starz in 2014.
ReplyDeleteI Love Sam Heughan as Jamie Fraser couldn't be more perfect !

ReplyDeleteThere's no way Kevin McKidd could have played a 22 year old. Ain't happening.
ReplyDeleteI'm not saying McKidd should have played Jamie, I'm saying I imagine Jamie like a younger McKidd.
ReplyDeleteExactly!

ReplyDeleteI hate to sound like Anne Shirley, but from this the best you could call it would be auburn. And Jamie was fire red.

ReplyDeleteI think if Starz could have afforded Chris Hemsworth...he is what most people pictured for Jamie.

ReplyDeleteYes, I know what you mean but it was just a general comment I made. It's not just about this one image.
ReplyDeleteI knew that,I should have said for tv but thank you.
