NBC ORDERS 13 EPISODES OF NEW TINA FEY, ROBERT CARLOCK COMEDY STARRING ELLIE KEMPER

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. – Oct. 31, 2013 – NBC has ordered 13 episodes of a new singlecam comedy from multiple Emmy Award winners Tina Fey and Robert Carlock. Ellie Kemper is set to star.

Produced by Universal Television and Little Stranger, Inc., and set to debut in fall 2014, the series will center on a woman (Kemper) who escapes from a doomsday cult and starts life over in New York City.

“We have been lucky enough to work at NBC for our entire careers (except when Robert worked at ‘The Dana Carvey Show,’ now available on DVD) and we thank Bob and Jen for their continued support.” said Fey and Carlock.

“Tina and Robert, who cemented their partnership on ‘30 Rock,’ have created a new signature comedy for us that is audacious, emotional, and clever,” said Robert Greenblatt, Chairman, NBC Entertainment. “While tapping into very relatable themes, there isn’t anything like this anywhere else on television. NBC has been their home for many years and we’re so happy that they’ve found another way to push the comedy envelope for us.”

Added Jennifer Salke, President, NBC Entertainment: “Original voices like Tina and Robert don’t come along very often and we wanted them back on the air as soon as possible. And to have them working with Ellie Kemper — who we watched grow up on ‘The Office’ from supporting player to leading actress — puts the whole package together. We feel fortunate to be in business with this entire creative team on something so funny, unique, and attention-getting.”

Fey and Carlock, who will serve as writers for the series, will executive produce with David Miner.

Fey, who created and executive produced the critically beloved NBC comedy “30 Rock,” recently won an Emmy, along with Tracey Wigfield, for co-writing the series finale episode, “Last Lunch.” As an actress, writer and executive producer on both “30 Rock” and “Saturday Night Live,” Fey has won eight Emmys.

Carlock, who executive produced “30 Rock” for all seven seasons, has won three Emmys. He was also a writer on iconic TV series “Saturday Night Live” and “Friends.”

Kemper is also an NBC alum, having co-starred in the Emmy-winning comedy “The Office.” She has been nominated for four Screen Actors Guild Awards for her role in the series, and was also nominated for a SAG Award as a co-star in the feature-film hit “Bridesmaids.”

  3. No no no, I want Tina back on my TV as the leading lady of one of her sitcom, not as a supporting role. Fey has the charisma to play a leading role, not a supporting one. But she could appear in this one tho.

  4. Yeah I noticed, I just wanted to clarify of this wasn't that ellie kemper project that I'm not sure if it made pilot last season. it had a lot of buzz and I think it was given a chance for an off cycle pick up but I don't remeber tina being involved so I guess its a whole new show

  5. True but just because she has the charisma to be lead doesn't mean she has to be. A lead actress is only as hood as the characters that support her. Also I don't think tina will take on any leads in a while whichc is why I'm hoping she joins as a supporting

  6. I get your point, I really do, but I so don't want Tina to be a supporting character. I want Tina to have her own show again, I want another show all about her. And I don't think NBC will let her just be a reccuring character on a show. She's an important actress in the comedy community and an amazing writer, she's made to carry a show, not be carry by it.

  7. This is already my favorite new comedy of 2014/2015.

Tina Fey (just writing, but still) + Ellie Kemper + single-cam + NYC + doomsday cult + NBC = I love it already.
