The Yoga Play, Homeland’s fifth episode to its third season was tense, really tense; it was very informative, but also quite slow in terms of story.
Just like many of you out there, I am quite pleased to see the end of the teenage wreck of a relationship that was Dana and Leo’s. Jessica went to Carrie for help, and it was kind of a heartfelt moment. Mainly because we could reminisce how great the first season’s plot was. Jessica asks and of course Carrie goes out of her way to help Brody’s family. As one Jessica would say, “She’s in love, who knows what she’ll do.”
I really enjoyed the Carrie doppelganger in The Yoga Play, took me by surprise. The Yoga Plan was basically a tactic to shake off her surveillance in order to mentally abuse some FBI agent to help bring Dana back home. The plan was great; it’s use, not so much.
Once the FBI started to give a crap about Brody’s daughter, it wasn’t very long before America’s Worst Driver and his girlfriend got in a fight. I am not sure I understood what Leo actually did, but important part is he was responsible for his brother’s death and Dana didn’t want anything to do with him anymore. She is now back, in what is possibly the world’s most depressing bedroom.
Saul basically had the crappiest of days possible. He goes duck, or geese, hunting with people he doesn’t seem to appreciate, at all. When he thinks he will permanently be head of the CIA, the job is given to a petty Senator I am pretty sure we will all grow to despise. He then came home earlier, only to find his wife in the middle of what looked like a pretty romantic dinner with a “colleague”. How innocent can a date be when you’re wearing a nightgown? To top it off, Carrie gets taken from her home by the Iranians.
Lover boy Quinn managed to let Carrie get taken from her own home. Even though Quinn doesn’t seem to see this, I am pretty sure this was an important part of Carrie’s infiltration mission. After making her strip and searching for bugs, the Iranians took Carrie to “The Man”. This means her demands from last episode were heard. If she had been made, why go through all that trouble? Why not just kill her on the spot? They are taking what appears to me to be reasonable precautions to keep their identities and location secret. Saul’s right, she has always been alone. She needs to be, if this mission is to be successful.
As for Brody, I am pretty sure he will come out of the darks to help his daughter when she’s at her all time low (possibly with Carrie’s help). After the end of this episode, this might be sooner than later.
